Granite Countertops Rockwall Granite countertops are a popular choice for many homeowners because of their durability and elegant look. Granite is a natural stone that is quarried from mountains all over the world, so each slab is unique in color and pattern. It’s also heat- and scratch-resistant, making it a good choice for busy kitchens. And because granite is a natural stone, it adds some character to your home that you can’t get with other materials. What is the cost for granite countertops? Granite countertops’ cost depends on the quality and size of the slab. Most granite countertops are priced by the square foot. The cost can range from $25 to $200 per square foot, depending on the quality and color of the stone. Marble Countertops Marble countertops are one of a kind. They are luxurious and beautiful, making any kitchen look high-end. Marble is a natural stone that is quarried from the earth, so no two countertops are exactly alike. Each slab has its own unique markings and veining, adding character and personality to your home. Marble is also a very durable material and can withstand a lot of wear and tear. It’s heat resistant, so you can place hot pots and pans on it without any damage. And because it’s non-porous, it’s also resistant to bacteria and stains. If you’re looking for a unique and luxurious countertop that will last for years, marble is a perfect choice.

"In August 2022, after hearing about DFW Improved on a home improvement radio show, we entered into two contracts with them for a roof replacement and interior water damage repair. These contracts were based on insurance-approved scopes following the 2021 ice storm. DFW Improved began the roof replacement project first. Following the replacement, the roof continued to leak due to their failure to replace the flashings. Despite corresponding work items in the insurance scope (confirmed later by the insurance adjuster's email), the DFW Improved salesperson insisted that flashing was not part of the roof. He threatened legal action if further payment was not made. Prior to this, they presented two identical model shingles as choices, which their own roof subcontractor on-site disclosed. Upon our inquiry via email, instead of addressing the issue, the salesperson accused us of defaming their company. Furthermore, they quoted $900 for a non-existent siding hole and estimated $25,000 for a bookcase, which their own designer valued at $6,000 to $7,000. While the roof leaking issue was still unresolved, DFW Improved began interior work. Instead of submitting the agreed supplement request as agreed, they skipped necessary steps to cut water-damaged drywall. To prevent wasted effort, we instructed workers to stop. The salesperson responded, stating that workers would not proceed with any work not approved by insurance. However, he emailed the insurance company claiming that the work had already been completed, causing significant confusion for us. During the halt period, we sent out numerous issues such as broken air pipes, cracked roof rafters, missing insulation, roof holes, missing felt paper, and a leaking roof. However, we received no response other than prevaricate explanations and demanding for money. We escalated to the DFW Improved upper manager who responded that they are their best team members and disregarded our request for an alternative project team. DFW Improved abandoned the projects and warranties, and initiated separation in December 2022. Both parties engaged in negotiations over separation costs. During this process, DFW Improved unexpectedly sent four individuals to our house, claiming to inspect texture work and demanding payment. Subsequently, DFW Improved placed a lien on our house, and their lawyer sent a demanding letter stating they would auction our house and (quote)“sue Vigorously” if payment was not made, despite the mediation/arbitration clause clearly outlined in the contracts. Under this pressure, we filed a claim in Tarrant County Small Claims Court, where the lien was placed. Later, their lawyer filed a motion to transfer the case to Collin County, where DFW Improved is based. We refused to comply with a demand for $5,000 and the confidentiality requirement during mediation. DFW Improved filed a new case simultaneously in the higher Tarrant County District Court, demanding a new amount of $59,845 and seeking to enforce the lien, providing no explanation for this amount. According to their co-owner's email, their accounting book calculated that we owed them a total of $1,260 (detailed below). During pre-mediation discussions, their lawyer attempted to justify their request for $8k, citing that a significant portion was allocated to attorneys' fees. We did not engage their lawyer to send us a threatening letter containing false statements about suing us without mediation. Their lawyer also declined $65 public mediator service provided by the Tarrant Small Claims Court. Additionally, they unilaterally escalated the dispute to a higher court. We have never been late with their payments. In fact, DFW Improved made a math error by crediting the blind work twice. When we brought this to their attention, DFW Improved spent extra time correcting the invoice, and their salesperson initiated an internal investigation. Any delay was certainly not caused by us. DFW Improved filed a lien attempting to collect the costs again, despite already receiving payment. See the invoice they submitted, which completely overlooks the $35,895.76 payment we made (supported by our bank transactions). —-------------The payment schedule on the contract has major math errors—--------- Payments for the work are due as follows: Contract Total $ 194,972.33 $ 19,497.23 deposit is due at initial design meeting.(10% of the Contract Total) 20% of the Contract Total is due at the preconstruction meeting. 30% of the Contract Total is due at start of drywall repair. ←– we requested halt at this phase and according to texas property code Sec. 28.003. With over 35 years of experience in the construction industry, our owner and project manager Colin Josey brings a broad range of skills to new home and remodeling projects. Josey Construction projects have included: full home remodeling, full kitchen, and bath remodels, bedroom, bath and studio additions, tile and flooring, interior and exterior painting, and concrete and exterior work. While also successfully established in the heavy construction industry, Josey has always valued the type of job satisfaction and client interaction that comes with the direct client contact in individual and unique home projects. In his firms, Josey Construction and KalGar Construction, he has applied his knowledge and management skills to satisfy clients in all phases of home remodeling and building and has found the job he loves best. While there are many remodeling contractors providing homeowners with varying levels of service, Josey Construction sets itself to a high standard of work ethics and principles. After years of monitoring job quality, schedules, production costs and budgets in very large scale construction projects, Josey has a unique level of expertise in managing people and time lines. In addition, as a Master Carpenter he is a skilled craftsman with the ability to assess and direct the workmanship of the tradespeople he employs. Though the practice is not common in the industry, Josey Construction employs a consistent group of sub-contractors throughout its projects. All contracts specify payment schedules for your project. This includes a down payment, partial draws based upon project progress in agreement with the homeowner (for larger or extended jobs), and a final payment when all work is completed to satisfaction. For Home Additions plan and design supplied by owner.

"Colin is awesome and was very professional. Complete the project super quick and everything came out amazing. Would definitely work with Colin in the future."

After a broken water heater flooded half our house, we needed new floors and the walls, which had been “flood cut” two-feet up all around had to be repaired, replastered and repainted. Haim was very helpful, explaining the process and various options. He gave me good advice on why things we could do to make improvements without braking the bank. I also really appreciated how he found a way to fix the problem that had led to the flooding in the first place - devising a way to add a drain pipe where there was no obvious exit. His whole crew was hard working, dependable and great at their jobs. There was one section of drywall that was really difficult to patch as it received a lot of natural light and was right under a bright ceiling light, which tends to expose even the smallest flaw. Haim’s drywall expert worked on it over and over until it wasn’t noticeable at all. All in all, they went above and beyond painting several additional walls and doors for me just to make sure it all came together perfectly. The cost was very reasonable, in line with other quotes I received and in some cases less. I highly recommend GH. Give ‘me a call!"

Countertop and backsplash services FAQs

Since knowing how to install countertops correctly requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of the topic, we recommend hiring a professional countertops installer near you to work on this project. Kitchen countertops are a high-visibility investment, meaning mistakes made during DIY installation will be easy to spot, may cause damage, and potentially require re-purchasing materials. Professional countertop installers have the skills, tools, and experience to place your new kitchen feature safely and correctly.

There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.

  • Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.

  • Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.

  • Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.

  • Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.

  • Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.

  • Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.

  • Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.

  • Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.

The cost to install countertops is $3,105 on average. This project cost can range from $400 to $8,500, depending on the material, edging, and countertop size.

Laminate countertops are generally the most cost-efficient, ranging from $8 to $27 per square foot. On the other hand, slate countertops are considered more luxurious and range from $30 to $90 per square foot. There are also countertop materials priced between those two, including stainless steel, granite, Corian, and wood.

The best way to save money on countertop installation is to choose an affordable material. For example, if you have a busy kitchen and need durability, choose a more affordable but lasting material like granite countertops. Likewise, if you don't use your countertops often, you can use a softer material that costs less than more sturdy ones.

Another way to cut costs is to remove and dispose of the existing countertops yourself, if possible. That way, countertop installers can get straight to placing the new feature, reducing labor costs.

It typically takes one to three days to install kitchen countertops. A few factors like size and material impact the time it takes to install a countertop. For example, if you have two slabs of countertop material, it won’t take as long to install as placing several custom pieces of countertop.

This timelines allows for removing existing countertops and any plumbing disconnect and reconnect that needs to happen. Plan on the higher end of the time frame if you've chosen custom countertops versus large slabs.
