Description of Work: After servicing one of my air conditioning units, there was a constant tapping sound in the attic when the unit came on. They sent someone to fix it but it came back again. Sent someone a second time who diagnosed it as a loose part of some sort and fixed it. A year later the sound is back again but not as loud. Am debating whether to call them to fix it again. I have used them for many years and have recommended them to friends. In general they have always been quick to respond, honest in their dealings, and have done good work.

Description of Work: This was a maintenance visit. They're a little pricey imho but they know their stuff and I never feel jerked around on arrival time or other purchase suggestions. | |They installed a new AC and extensive ductwork Dec. 2013 before I became an Angie's List member and the work, again, was pricey but absolutely top-notch and finished in precisely the time frame I had been given.

Description of Work: I have used Spencer on a few of occasions. They are cordial, but I have lost faith in their ability as a HVAC services provider. | |I had a new ac & furnace installed upstairs that included new ducting. There were no HVAC calculations performed to understand the airflow requirements for the new unit. I am faced with unbalanced cooling and heating throughout the upstairs that I'm going to have to pay a third party to rectify. | |Their price for parts come with a tremendous markup. I was charged $279 for an igniter for my furnace downstairs. I later discovered Carrier sells the part for ~$50.

I was at work and my husband called me to tell me the a/c was out. He was leaving town for a funeral for a few days, so he couldn't stay and find someone to fix it. I came home from work early and started making calls. I went down Angie's List and called at least 6 companies. Spencer-Cox was the only one who could get a technician to me that day, and Jamal came out after 6pm without any extra charge. Several companies didn't even return my call. He determined that the circuit board wasn't working. To get the circuit board out he needed to turn off the breaker for the unit, but found that our breaker box wasn't labeled for it. So he spent at least 30 minutes trying each breaker, which meant climbing up and down the stairs at least 6 times to find the right switch. He didn't have one in stock and couldn't get it until after 10am the next day. He gave me a ballpark estimate which had me on the computer that night checking circuit board prices - just to be on the safe side. I found one online for our a/c and Jamal was very close on the price. His dispatcher called the next day with his ETA for after Noon. I called at 1:00 to see if he was on his way. She confirmed I was his next stop after he finished his current service call. I was very impatient (& hot) and called back several times. They were very patient with me. Unfortunately the previous service call took longer than expected so it was after 5:00 before he arrived. Jamal installed the new circuit board and had the house cooled down quickly. In any repair, I always want to see the old part if I paid for a replacement. He left the old circuit board for us before I could ask for it. Jamal also let me know that the blower fan would need replacing in the future, but there was absolutely no pressure to have it done right then. When it goes out I'll definitely call these guys again.
Description of Work: Air conditioning stopped working. Replaced blower circuit board. Our breaker box isn't labeled completely. Had to climb up & down stairs at least 6 times to figure out which breaker was for the unit.

I don't have any complaints with them. They send a card when it's time to call for an inspection. They show up at the time they say they will. They work very well with my schedule.

I needed the unit installed immediately because of health problems and they came over the weekend to install it with no problems. They are absolutely the best you would ever want to have. The men are nice and always on time when they come to service the equipment two times a year. I am overly pleased with them.
