Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Washer began backing up into the tub and toilets. Contacted Roto-Rooter for an estimate. The company was willing to dispatch someone immediately but I requested a next day appointment. Estimate was scheduled between 8-10AM. I received a courtesy phone call 30 minutes prior to their arrival. Allen asked for a description of the problem and began some diagnostics. I was given an explanation of the problem and an estimate; I agreed to have the work done. Allen proceeded to clear the blockage and provided some follow-up directions. The entire process took approximately 1 hour. *Remember to use the coupons found on their website.

They were responsive, showed up on time, and fixed the problem.

They did a good job and I liked them. There was nothing I disliked. The workers who came out were very nice.

We had a pretty bad clog in the drain to our master shower. I tried a snake, a plunger, and another plumbing company to unclog it. The other company charged me about $350 and fixed it at the time, but it clogged up again about 2 months later. This time, I called RotoRooter as I had heard about them from a friend. I called them on a Friday night, and they came out on a Saturday for no additional charge. They performed a test to see where the clog was (if it was local to just the shower or deeper in the system - this is a test the other company did not perform), checked the house drainage line from the outside, and cleared the clog in about 30 minutes. The drain now works fabulously. I'm very happy with their speed, price, and services and definitely would use them again in the future.

I had gotten a quote from DFW Pipe and they wanted $450 and could not do it until Tuesday. Roto Rooter price was $150 plus an additional $25 for going on the roof. Don't forget the $15 discount coupon on their web site. The C rating for responsiveness and punctuality was due to the answer service mixing up my request with another job. this delayed the service by one day.

I was very pleased with the work and the price. They get the problem fixed quickly and efficiently.

Did the job...is price too much? I don't know. Probably not. Tried to snake the drain myself, but the problem required better equipment than I had.

Made call to rotorooter at 10:30am on a Sunday morning. They told me it would be about 90 minutes, but a plumber was at my door within 35 minutes. Great response, helpful and friendly, both on the phone and in person. Kitchen sink clog was cleared within 30 minutes. Plumber was polite and helpful, and cleaned up after the work was done. Excellent job. I would use these guys again for sure.

The repair process went well. I actually had two bids, one being a smaller local plumber and surprisingly RotoRooter was slightly less expensive. Coupled with the fact that RotoRooter operates their in-house excavating I decided on RotoRooter. While I would have liked to have used the pipe relining process to avoid digging a 6 foot hole in my front yard I understood that it was not going to work in this case. In addition to repairing the broken sewer line, they had to also repair the water line and sprinkler system that were both damaged as part of the excavation. This happens quite often and, in fact, I fully expected the sprinkler system would be cut so this comment is not a detraction rather statement of fact regarding the process. The only surprises was that the sprinkler system had broken again after the hole was filled in and they had to return the next day to dig it back up and repair it. This took several hours but eventually was repaired. All the staff I met was very friendly. Paul, the Regional Manager, came out twice, one during the initial visit and again during the excavation and repair. Everyone (technicians, master plumber, etc) explained the process in detail and made sure I felt comfortable. There was some confusion surrounding the scheduling of the job but in the end, it was a minor issue. This type of repair will take most if not all the day. In all I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of customer service from a larger name in the plumbing business.

I would consider using them in the future if I needed to. The situation that happened was crazy and I ended paying a price for nothing. I wasn't really keen on that because as a plumber he should have shut the water off first if there were any leaks going into the house, but he didn't. He just assumed because I thought the meter was running on the outside. Everything was shut off in the house but the water was running through the meter, so there must have been a leak somewhere. Sometimes I think you influence somebody by saying something and you should just shut your mouth. I thought maybe the water was going in the house underneath the slab because there was nothing running in the house. The first thing he should have done is asked if we had a sprinkler system and shut it off because that is attached to the main water line. The line goes into the house and it goes into the sprinkler system. If he had shut off the sprinkler system, it would have shown that the water meter had stopped. He came into the house looking for a slab leak which there wasn't any. If he had shut off the sprinkler system, he wouldn't have had to charge me the amount he charged to look for a leak in my house. I was a little disappointed with that.

Mid-afternoon, Saturday, 12 June, 2010, I noticed above described malfunction, and called concerned Roto Rooter. She said they would try to get a plumber out in a few hours, but if not, they would dispatch early the next morning (Sunday) with no extra charge. He arrived the next day and gave an accurate cost to fix. I gave him a go-ahead and he he quickly completed the task. I am delighted with his professionalism.

We were satisfied with them. They were really nice. They made a mistake on the invoice and they quickly corrected it. They came out and got it fixed and we haven't had any problems with it. The price was kind of expensive. They did not clean up after they were done. I think they just forgot. I would hire them again.

I called them and they quoted the after hours price for an estimate. The technician came out right away. I showed him everything he asked me to. He explained what he was going to do and gave me the price for both. I approved the cost and he started working. He showed me what he was doing as he was working. He seemed to be focusing on the toilet working and not as much the tub. He did get the toilet working however the tub was not fixed at all. When I called them back they said there would be an additional charge for the work. With the help of Angie's List and the Complaint Process the company quickly responded and unclogged the tub as they were initially suppose to do. They gave me a free gallon of Bio Rooter for my inconvenience to help maintain drainage flow. Because of there prompt follow up I will definitely use them again.

They were suppose to clean out the mainline and fix the toilet. The mainline is still clogged and the toilet is not working. We have used them before over a 10 year period and recently the service has declined.

They did an awful job. They charged by the hour but the employee just sat in my yard smoking and speaking on the phone. Finally, I figured out that the problem was under the city's jurisdiction and they came out and fixed it. Roto Rooter didn't fix it and they still charged hourly. I called and complained and they didn't care.

When he arrived at my house, we discussed what the problem was. He went right to the toilet tank and fixed the problem within minutes. Because the fix was so simple, he didn't even charge me for the repair or for the service call. What a very admirable gesture. Thank you!

The technicians approached the job very politely and they were good about showing up on time. The job only took about 20 minutes and I found that to be very efficient. I would definitely call them again if I need to.

I want to start by saying we have used Roto Rooter in the past and have always been very pleased. This time, however, they really tried to bamboozle us. They tried to tell my husband and myself we needed to tear up the yard and have all new copper pipes installed. All we wanted was the leak repaired. We sent them away and my husband ended up fixing the leak for about $15.

The plumber came out on a Sunday, although I called on Saturday. The 24/7, nation-wide company couldn't get anyone here until Sunday. Then, I was charged $40 for a Sunday visit. He attempted to clear the blockage, but couldn't because of the broken pipes. I was told that to fix the problem they would have to dig approximately 40 feet from the alley. The price for just the ditch would be $275 per foot. I had used this company in the past, and never been charged so much for snaking the pipes. I thought their prices were outrageous. The pipes may be broken, and I will have to have them fixed, but Roto Rooter will not be who I choose to do the work.

Were very responsive, came out in a few hours. Very nice and courteous. Explained what he was checking (washer outflow, showers, tubs, toilets) and why he used the specific rooter for the main line that he did. Also explained the results of the rooting (e.g., no tree root remnants, no paper came out). Included a 60 day guarantee, which I did have them come back out when it looked like we may have another stoppage - but turned out to be nothing. Other than their expense for just snaking my pipes, very good experience. However, I would shop around on price if I had time.

Teenager's bathroom periodically runs very slow due to hair clogs. Noticed that commode in same bathroom seemed to also be flushing with less pressure and was concerned that drains needed to be cleaned out. Service man came out within 2 hours of my call. Tested both thoroughly and felt like the swirl in the tub was good at this time and would not benefit greatly from cleaning; same for the commode. He checked the kitchen sink water pressure, found it to be calcium build up in the nozzle filter, explained how to clean it out, cleaned it out for me and did not charge me for any of it, including the service call. Very nice, professional and knowledgeable. Wonderful to have someone with honesty and integrity...I would absolutely use them again.

Was told there was no trip charge. Plumber arrived, looked at shower asked if I had a bucket. I got a bucket he turned the shower on and poured the water down the drain, and said that fixed the problem. We need to do this every so often to prevent sewage odor and backup, because we do not use this shower downstairs. It took ten seconds! He went outside to write up the order and came back 10 minutes later and said it was $157.54! I told him that was ridiculous for 10 seconds of advice and no labor! He called his boss and reduced it to $75.00. I paid this, and told him I think it still was extremely high for what he did. This would be higher than any company's trip charge. He then told me to periodically pour oil down the drain! I said I've never heard of that. Of course I've called several other companies who have said that would cause problems! I would not recommend them to anyone!
