Description of Work: They told us our unit needed almost immediate replacement and then charged 500.00 to do a temporary, non-guaranteed repair. Over a year later our unit is still running fine. I honestly don't know if they were exaggerating the problem to sell us a new unit or if they actually made a decent repair. It seemed very expensive for the service performed and at the time we didn't feel like we got an honest repair.

Description of Work: We bought two air conditioning units and two furnaces. They did additional duct work. They also installed a high capacity air filter. They also put in electronic thermostats.

Description of Work: Installed new air unit in home in May. I was having some issues and reported that the house was not cooling. Mr. Nevill sent someone right out and diagnoised the problem and then put in a new part. He called every day for a week to make sure that it was conintuing to operate properly. I used him in 1991 when I bought the house and have had A-1 install 2 air conditioner units and 1 compressor in the past 18 years. They have great people that I trust completely.

 + -1 moreOnce they came and did the work, it was fine. They were prompt, polite, and efficient, if not the best at cleaning up after themselves. Getting them out to finish the service call was a nightmare, however. They diagnosed the freon leak in mid-August, added freon, and said they'd call and confirm they'd be back at the end of the week to find the leak and do repairs. They didn't call or return my call or show up. I spent over a month making phone calls 1-2 times a week which were not returned, or (twice) the owner left a message, but would not return my call-backs. Finally, the owner called me in mid-September and we set an appointment. He was very apologetic and admitted there was no excuse for this kind of unsatisfactory service. A-1 had installed the air handlers new three years ago, so the new evaporator was under warranty, but they did not charge me for the labor, to make amends for the bad service.
Description of Work: They replaced my upstairs a/c unit and replaced the evaporator in an air handler, which was leaking freon (under warranty).

They did some major heating/air-conditioning work when I moved into my home three years ago, and they have done maintenance and some repairs under warranty in the past with no hassle whatsoever. They answered all of my questions and have been an important part of my education as a new home-owner. Initial contact is sometimes slow and difficult, since they've got an answering machine vs. an actual person answering the phone.
Description of Work: Technician did the annual inspection/maintenance on my two air-conditioning units and added freon to one of them.

HE COMPLETED BOTH OF THESE JOBS WITH A MINIMUM OF DISRUPTION AND EVEN OFFERED TO COME OUT ON A SUNDAY TO SAVE US FROM SUMMER HEAT.
