HORRIBLE
Description of Work: do not use this company. my husband recently passed away and I had to move. I only kept sentimental items. the movers showed up at 5 and stayed 5 hours. the company didn't have boxes or couch to move. Not a lot to move at all. It took them 5 hours to move a f=dinning room set=, glass cabinet and a couple of chairs. every item was damaged. EVERY ITEM. Crack or chip. my antique dresser is damaged beyond repair. I called manager and no apology. I was told they paid 6 cents per pound and my damage claim would take a while. They wont even pick up any of the damaged items. Hired someone else. Told them I was upset and he didn't attempt to make the situation right or apologize.

Description of Work: They did not show up with tools and after a hr I had to take them to home depot to purchase tools. They did not wrap my furniture or items up and so they got wet. They was using foul language all the time and that wasn't professional. They was very slow and allowed only one of their men to assemble my furniture back.

Description of Work: They were over 2 hours late. They weren't in a uniform. They damaged the very first piece of furniture they touched, which happened to be new and it went down hill from there. Most of our items were knicked and scratched. They even left dirty hand prints on our temperpedic mattress and the box springs looked as though it had been drug on concrete causing dirty spots and most fabric around the corners to be torn off. And all of our items were already wrapped in plastic. They said they would add more plastic but never did. They never used their own carts or blankets, only ours and we don't know that we got them all back. We never were offered our money back, never heard from the owner or manager, and here a month later, we still have no resolution. I believe Holly was the only employee we spoke with during this time and her polite demeanor and professionalism has been the only redeeming quality to doing business with this mover. Very disappointed since I researched them on Angie's list and the BBB.

Description of Work: We moved last minute from a bedroom apartment in Arlington to a house in Fort Worth. They were able to do the job last minute and all 3 guys worked quickly, efficiently and were very friendly. Nothing was damaged in the process and it was done within half of a day.

I should of known it was not going to be smooth when they told me the just got done with a 3rd floor move to a 3rd floor move. Both of them hit it hard at the storage room then they went down hill. I could tell they were both beat. A lot of the items ended up in the garage so I could get everything unloaded before they ran out of time. I had to call Luke the next day because they had left something on the truck but did not even bother to call me about it. This is after I gave them a $100.00 tip. Luke was nice enough to bring the item over to me. One of the guys worked his butt off but the "supervisor" just stood around and talk a lot after we got to the apartment while the other guy kept busting his butt. I'm not sure I would use Luke's again. I found another company that offered less money with 3 guys and they also have a A rating on Angies List. I think I will try them next time.
Description of Work: I had everything but my bedroom furniture already packed in a 1st floor storage. The bedroom furniture was in a single store house and I was moving into a 1st floor apartment. Less than 8 miles total trip. The storage room was a 10x15 and my new apartment was on the 1st floor 1 bedroom. 2 guys 3 hrs.

Luke's movers were hard-working, considerate, and a pleasure to have around! I call them the "happy movers" because they had such great attitudes! I decided to let Luke's move my piano in addition to my furniture and household items after Luke told me that they had many years experience in moving pianos. I saved several hundred dollars by not having it moved by a piano mover, and the piano arrived at my new location without a scratch. They were careful with all my items, yet the move took even less time than what they had quoted. Thank you for being true professionals! Laura M.

The three guys that showed up to move us were on time and very quick to get started. Even though it was 104 that day these guys kept it going and were happy and pleasant to talk with. Not one thing was broken and they made our move SO MUCH EASIER. We will be using them again in the future!

Lucas arrived on time for our estimate. He even called to say he would be a few minutes late, but he wasn't. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He told us how we could prepare to save man hours on our move day. We had other estimates, but he is the only person that came out and actually viewed our property. Although he wasn't the cheapest, his professionalism convinced us that his staff would do a quality job. On our move day, the crew was 30 minutes late for our 9am appointment. They did NOT call to say they would be late. I've heard so many stories of movers not showing up, I started to get nervous. I called the office & received a recording. As I was leaving my message the trucks pulled into the driveway. The move supervisor (Josh, I think) was apologettic about being late, but didn't give any real reason. His excuse was "crew issues". (I don't know exactly what that means, but as the day went on I realized that no one knew each other. They would reference each other as "hey you" or "tall guy" or "buddy".) Anyway, Luke had quoted 6 men, not to exceed 9 hours. They were training a new guy so we got a free bonus mover. Each one walked up and introduced himself and shook our hands. I don't remember all their names: Rory, Chris, Kevin?. (Sorry, it's been a month & I've been busy unpacking!) It was a hot day! All of the movers were very pleasant and appreciative that we kept the AC on. That was shocking! Who doesn't leave on the AC for people doing hard labor in Texas? They must have had some really horrible clients. And, the poor trainee was wearing jeans. He must've been dying! Anyway, they all worked hard and only asked for a single 15 minute break and of course, lunch. They got it all done in 6.5 hours. Chris was the most experienced and would get on to anyone doing something wrong. There were some pretty hilarious "conversations"! Not a single item got damaged or lost, so whatever works! The only hiccup we had was a small hole that got knocked in the wall of our new house. They said they would take care of it and they did. They put me in contact with someone named Gary (who doesn't work for them). He came out the following weekend & did an excellent job, too. We're even using him for some other work! I think as far as movers go, it doesn't get any better than Luke's!
Description of Work: Luke's provided a wonderful experience when we moved 12 miles from a 2-story 3400 sq' home to a 2-story 3000 sq' home.

Luke's Moving Service was apparently overbooked but took my job anyway. They sent a sub-standard crew and a 35-foot rented truck that was unable to hold the contents so it required two trips. The crew worked from 9:30 am to 7 pm but didn't complete the job. They took two hours attempting to connect the washer and dryer and were unable to complete that. Because they were so slow and inept, I dismissed them. I had to take off work on moving day to oversee the move, and the next day to complete the items that the movers didn't complete. It was the worst moving experience of my life. My wife called me from work to oversee the job because she was so frustrated and angry. The crew leader was unprofessional and patronizing toward my wife and me, and was disrespectful and condescending toward his crew. There was damage to furnishings and to the dryer vent. They failed to place twenty boxes of books in the attic after being asked to do so. The crew members and leader all received tips, but the crew leader failed to acknowledge or express appreciation for his (the total cost reflected above includes tips). The other two workers thanked me for their tips. In defense of the owner, he offered to send the crew back to finish the work, but I didn't want anyone from his company back. He contacted me to let me know that he acknowledged the errors and appreciated my feedback. He freely sent a furniture repair person to our home to make the needed repairs at his expense, and it will be a significant expense. He could have turned it into an insurance claim but has attempted to make reparations. A show of good faith, in my opinion. The workers scratched the washer and dryer, chipped master and guest bedroom furniture and gouged hunks from the dining table, as well as miscellaneous other chips and dings from fairly new good quality wood furniture. Despite their claims of superior service, their hourly rate was 35% higher than my other mover. Their ability to carefully and safely work in my home near my spouse was poor. Their ability to care for my furniture was poor. Their policy is to wrap every piece. On my job, they wrapped some pieces. Several pieces that were wrapped were also damaged. Careful handling of items could serve as a substitute for plastic wrap as the wrapping is costly and time consuming. It was our fault for allowing this mover to do our job by the hour. It was also our fault for allowing this crew to start the job as they presented themselves as a ragtag group in a rented truck and should have been turned away at the outset. But, you know how it is on moving day. Luke is a nice guy and expresses good intentions. This is probably a good moving company, but I had a very bad experience. Their website is very professional and graphically represents a quality moving experience, a sharp contrast to my move. Their work on our move was incongruous with their rating on Angie's List. I cannot recommend their service nor would I use their service again.
Description of Work: The moving service was hired to move furnishings of a 3 bedroom house from a storage warehouse to our new home. Most items were high quality furniture. Another moving company had moved the exact items into the warehouse one week before, charging $825 total including trip charges from Granbury (about 40 miles), whereas the Luke's trip was 11 minutes away from the destination. Their original charges to me would have been 8.5 hours @ $135/hour, or about $1,145 plus tax. We negotiated for a lesser amount near the end of the job.

Great. DeLeon and Brian were my movers, and there were extremely nice and courteous, even going so far to call me to let me know they would be late (a whopping 8 minutes, simply due to having trouble finding the unit). I was very impressed by the demeanor, work ethic, and overall commitment to excellence. From door to door, it took 45 minutes, and that was with them taking extra care to ensure nothing went wrong, bumped anything, etc. They even moved a table in chairs I was preparing to do myself. I would call them again in a heartbeat; very impressed.
Description of Work: I had a large armoire that I could not move alone, so I called Luke's on a Wednesday, confirmed on a Thursday, and had them at my old apt at 9am on a Friday. This was the best price around by far for such a small move.

Luke was friendly and professional in assessing our needs and going over our options. While other companies could not guarantee the ability to help us with our situation of have a day and a half lapse between being out of one house and in the new house, Luke assured me they could work it out. I felt the estimate was reasonable and very fair. The 3-man crew showed up on time and got right to work. They were all so friendly and very careful with our belongings. They worked very hard and even asked if there was anything else we needed upon their completion of loading the truck. Because we couldn't be in our new house for two more evenings, they kept our stuff locked and stored until they could come unload at the new location. Again, they arrived on time and got right to work. Taking furniture and boxes to appropriate rooms upstairs and downstairs, and reassembling furniture. Luke's made this moving thing a total breeze for us. They were so friendly and professional from beginning to end, there is NO other company I would use. I called SEVERAL places, and am so pleased I chose Luke's A+ moving. I strongly recommend them to anyone needing moving services. I sincerely thank them from the bottom of my heart for making our move less stressful!
Description of Work: Luke came out one day to assess our needs and write up the estimate. They even accommodated our lapse of needing to be out of the old house one day and not in the new house until two days later. The three man crew moved all of our furniture and boxes.

We were very impressed with Luke's. We would use them again in a heartbeat. They were punctual, professional, and hustled their butts off. The job supervisor "D" made sure the move went smoothly and quickly. They take great precautions to make sure the house does not sustain any damage from the move (they even covered the banisters), and all of our things arrived in great condition. They also sell boxes and moving supplies at a really fair price. We ordered some before the move and they delivered them to our house for free. You really can't go wrong with Luke's.

This move has been so stressful, I am so happy I chose Luke's moving. They were one of my "wins" in this move. I felt good about the entire experience with Luke. I wish I had more reasons to utilize their company, and I will definitely recommend him to friends and family. I've moved many times in my life. I've had nightmare movers - that have dropped things, stolen from us, showed up hours late to the job. I had to file a BBB complaint on one local mover. Needless to say, I was nervous. From start to finish Luke was patient with my questions and wasn't dodgy about answering and addressing my concerns. Luke is a great communicator, very honest and I love the "not to exceed" bid process. It's not an estimate where you can end up out several hundred more - and like I mentioned above, it's broken into various categories. Supplies, Packing labor, Moving Labor. If any of those take less time than the estimate you pay less. (Which mine did.) I set up for Luke to come out on the 30th to give me my bid. He showed up on time, gave me our bid, explained it and presented a copy of his insurance coverage. The packers - a team of three - were scheduled for the two days before the move. So the 5th and 6th I had guys packing us up. They moved fast and were finished well under the estimated time. Friday the 7th the movers - a 4 man team with 2 trucks - arrived on time and started packing us up. They were at our new house an hour away by 5pm after a dinner break. (Meals/breaks are all off the clock) Around 8:30pm, Luke showed up with another mover to help unload since it was getting late, and some of the guys had been there since 9am and were losing steam. The move was finished by midnight. Luke even offered to come back a day later and help put two beds together that had NOT been put together at my previous residence - on his own time. Luke's team wasn't perfect - a few boxes were left blank. Mystery boxes! One of the moving trucks had a flat, but they called it in - and instead of it affecting my move, other guys came out and handled it, so my movers could keep loading without it slowing down my progress. When the move went long and guys had been working a full day, I could tell they were losing steam - Luke showed up with pizza for his guys and (without me asking) brought in two additional movers. The moving in did run long, but it was hard to be annoyed about that when it wasn't costing me anything additional and I could see his team was working hard. One of the guys on the team, when Luke wasn't there, Dean - he was really impressive. I don't know how to explain, he just has very honest eyes. He was friendly and an incredibly hard worker. How he kept powering up those stairs after working 9+ hours is a mystery to me.. but he did. Luke said they call him "Dean the Machine." I swear he does the work of two guys on his own. He had actually been there packing and did my move. He apologized when things went long, and it was Luke's team that knew to let him know stuff was running long and ask for help. Great teamwork there. Overall, the job was well done with a few tiny bumps. Items were packed carefully, but not excessively, the packers and movers were all well spoken trustworthy guys that Luke made a point to tell me most of his guys had been with him for years. Everyone has a background check and has been vetted. No day labor. They pointed out damage on the doorway/stairs before they started - which I thought was smart - that way I wouldn't have that knot in my stomach wondering if they had caused it. (You won't always notice everything) They didn't damage my new home or old home - they have special cushion "clamp" looking things they put on my main doorway for added protection and cloth on my stairway.. extra steps to keep things from even getting the smallest scratch. Stuff was taken care of. I assume because they have great insurance - they won't want to have to use it and have rates go up! I did have a glass picture break, it was a simple human error.. it had been moved to bring inside and they moved the truck, it fell. Luke basically offered me whatever I wanted to make it right - name the value. I choose to have them help me move some additional furniture (this place feels empty right now) because I planned on calling them anyway. Any issues or concerns that I did have Luke addressed personally, which was very reassuring. Right now it's got that "Mom and Pop" feel of quality, personal service. Did I mention they even got a replacement cord for my dryer when the plug was different in the new house and felt pads for my furniture (because I didn't think of it) that was going on wood floors! They only charged "cost" for those items. Extra touches that made the service fantastic. "A+" Indeed. I plan on using Luke's whenever I can. They do small jobs too - like pickups for large Craisglist purchases and charge an hourly rate for a truck and two movers -- I want to say $75 an hour? But I am not positive - I just remember it was less then renting a UHAUL (which usually ends up around $200 + gas/mileage), driving it myself, and trying to bribe friends to help me lift. :) I haven't used them for this yet but I plan to. I've also already given a total stranger one of his cards! I would recommend him to anyone that has a move coming up. Moves are stressful enough, you don't want to worry about your movers damaging your stuff, stealing from you, damaging your home, fleecing your in pricing with "surprise" costs or other deceptive practices. I honestly believe you can't go wrong with Luke's if you're moving in the DFW+ extended area. I hope this helps someone else find a good mover.
Description of Work: During a stressful house sale with a lot to do, I nearly forgot to book movers. I do a lot of research before I use any service or buy anything. After checking some review sites I found Luke's and gave them a call. He's the son of a mover that somewhat recently opened his own company. I called few other places and was concerned because info they gave me turned me off. Something to pay attention to when you're moving - the law only requires movers to carry minimal insurance which pays you 60 cents per "pound" of a damaged item. So if your mover breaks a precious vase - you get 60 cents?!? Scratches your big screen, you may get a check for $12. Ridiculous! Luke's does NOT have insurance like this. They have good coverage that protects you. When you meet with Luke for your estimate he provides a copy of his insurance. That was a huge must for me. Also, Luke's quote was almost a third less than another mover I had called. I had Luke's pack and move us from a stuffed 2000 sq ft one story home to a 4000 sqft 2 story. We had pre-packed some stuff so the home would look less cluttered when we were trying to sell. Luke came out and gave us a "not to exceed" bid -- he breaks down the packing, packaging materials and movers into separate categories. If any of those sections takes less time/products - you pay less, and you never pay more, even if he was mistaken. You can also choose to provide your own boxes if they pack you, but I didn't want to deal with that and his prices were reasonable. Our move took longer than he expected and those guys worked their tails off.. Yet because my packers took less time my cost to move was hundreds less than he had originally said. (I did pay more, I felt they were worth it and they were there several hours longer working - but that was MY choice.)

Start to finish it was awesome! They did everything right.
Description of Work: Called them on Sunday morning and Luke had someone out there by 230 that same day. I just needed a fridge moved from one side of town to the other. They moved it and unhooked the old one and hooked up the new one within an hour. They have 2 hour min. They had awesome customer service and I will use them again!

The experience was awesome. They promised they would be done in 3 1/2 hours which we did not believe at first but they did it right on the dot. It was on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and not very many other companies were willing to do it on that date. Not one thing was damaged or scratched. They were able to hook up the washer and dryer connections. We didn’t have any problems.
Description of Work: We used Luke's A+ Professional Moving to move our entire apartment including all the heavy furniture and boxes.
