Another wonderful experience with Ace Custom building. I used them earlier this year to completely re-do a bathroom and was very happy with their work. I contacted them again for this project and once again it was great work. Ivan listens to all my ideas and give me great feed back to get the best possible outcome. I can't say enough good things about them. I have plans for more work in the future and you can bet that I will be using them!!

First off, Ivan was very easy to work with. He was not the cheapest of all the quotes, but his quote was by far the most detailed. He does all the work himself, so you know who you will be working with everyday. Also, just based on first impression, I knew it would be easy to work with. He is unlike most contractors in that he is worried about the client being happy with the product, not getting the job done as quick as possible. Also, Ivan was very flexible when we didn't have everything we needed on time. We changed our minds...alot. We brought home different tile about 8 times to get his opinion on it. That is every contractor's worst nightmare. We had a difficult time picking out tile and plumbing fixtures among other things and delayed the project at least a couple days because of this. Ivan is the most laid back contractor you will find, I promise. When we had the bathroom demoed, Ivan suggested a little different layout with would more than double the size of the shower. He even sent us 3-d renderings of the bathroom with a new layout so we could visualize it. We went with this idea, and could not be happier with it. he had to move the bathroom drain and cold and hot water piping. I'm confident that he can handle anything that an owner throws at him. What I was most impressed with was the tile work. It is literally perfect. He has obviously done tile work for a long time. Our finished product is great, and he has even checked in to make sure we are still happy with everything. Great guy and does great work.

He gave me two options - to patch or fix properly. I chose the 'fix' which he handled and saved me money. His door repair invoice was detailed and professional. It was easy to work with him.

I needed a complete renovation of a downstairs bathroom. It was very small only enough room for a sink and toilet. I needed the bathroom for my 89 year old mother and also a room opening closed in to move her downstairs. They had to completely tear out the old bathroom and a closet on the outside of it and a old wet bar that was not being used and also extend the room out another foot into the foyer. Ivan had so many good idea and also used 3 D computer pictures so that I could have a better idea how the project would look. Not only did he have to tear out the old bathroom, closet and wet bar but he had to move all the plumbing. His work was very meticulous and he paid attention to every detail. I just can't say enough good things about the job he did. It is beautiful and very functional for my mother. My friends and neighbors that have seen the job he did are also very impressed. He also could not find French doors to fit the opening that I had so he bought the doors and custom fit them to the opening that I had and they are also beautiful. There needs to be a better than A rating for his work. A+ would be my rating!

He is incredibly talented, he always has good ideas and suggestions to improve whatever ideas I have. He makes good suggestions on how to save money and will be pleasing. He is punctual, he is very professional, and I like him because he is talented. He doesn't just come in and take orders, he always says it will look better if we do this and this.

Everything went well, until it didn't. All of the work Ivan did, he did well and for a fair price. Unfortunately, he decided to bail on the project before he finished it, and after he did he stuck me with some extra charges that irked me. The tile looks good and he made sure to get the plumbing etc right. He was also good about communicating whenever he thought something wasn't going to look right. I had a universal shower handle picked out that was going to protrude more than it should and he spotted it before we installed it so we could get it swapped out. Part of the project was they were supposed to refinish and paint the vanity, paint the trim, and caulk/paint several other minor projects around the house. He got done with the tile and decided (not asked) they were done and the painting would be best left to another contractor. I'm working on the vanity top/sinks and needed the vanity done so I could finish out the bathroom right after they finished. Now I am stuck with my bathroom doors unpainted sitting in the middle of my hallway, all the vanity/cabinets unpainted stacked in my garage, my vanity top sitting in my driveway and an unusable master bath until I can get another contractor lined up to finish the job (I don't trust myself to paint). Additionally, in the invoice, some things were bid a little high ($140 for flipping a light switch around), others a little low ($180 for refinishing the vanity) to what I thought was a fair price overall. He bailed on two of the major project lower priced items (refinishing the vanities and all the other caulking/painting projects) and left me with the pricier ones, significantly lowering the value/price ratio of the overall bid. Since he quit early, the contract wasn't completed as agreed (fortunately he gives an itemized invoice). So he took off most of the items he didn't complete. I pointed out a few items he missed (like painting the vanity) and he sent it back with them removed but replaced them with more charges we had never discussed, like tiling the front of the tub (we had agreed on it on the initial bid, so I naturally assumed it was included in the "tub tile/hardy" line but now there was a new line for "tub carpentry". I also had about 2 sq ft of tile he had to lay on the other side of the transition to make a clean transition to the bedroom. Again, this was known in the initial bid and there was a new charge for "bedroom tile labor" for about 15% of the price of laying the entire bathroom floor tile. I would have tipped him more than the charges, so maybe I'm being temperamental but I was already irritated about him bailing early and this was not a classy way to leave things. I decided to pocket the tip, so I suppose I'll call it even on class. I think Ivan tries to be a fairly honest guy (doesn't think he did anything wrong) with good intentions and poor planning. I liked the guy, he has a good personality and was easy to talk to. For what he did, I would have given him an A. The extra charges at the end for items discussed from the beginning was really irritating and dropped him to a B. Throwing a huge wrench in my bathroom schedule, leaving me with a p***** off wife and unusable bathroom living out of the guest bedroom closets for a couple more weeks dropped him to a generous C. I would almost recommend him because surely he wouldn't pull this this sort of thing often. I'm still scratching my head on why he left things like he did. I'm guessing he lined up another job that was more profitable than finishing mine. Poor form.

Ivan, is very professional and did an excellent job. Because of this job, we are using him for an interior brick/tile back splash remodel in kitchen. Also getting quote for patio cover.

We had our master bath renovated. We had Ivan remove the shower/bath tub combo and replace it with a large walk in shower. We also had the vanity replaced. We picked all the tile and fixtures. With his guidance,we ended up with a beautiful new bathroom. After two hip surgeries, it was not easy for us to climb in and out of the garden tub to take a shower. Now we have a lovely bench, plenty of room plus storage for shampoo and soap etc. Our old vanity had wall to wall mirror with the old hollywood lighting. Now we have two smaller mirrors divided by a hutch with plenty of storage, nice granite top and more modern lighting. Ivan was great to work with and worked very hard to get the bathroom done correctly. We are very pleased and even though the job was completed several weeks ago we still admire his work every day. We love it and will not hesitate to contact Ivan when we are ready to update the guest bathroom or any other renovations/jobs we need done.

We did not end up using this contractor, but they were very prompt with their estimates, fairly priced and answered all of my questions.

This job was a bit more challenging then most because of the hard clay and the tree roots. These guys were ready for the task and i wouldn't hesitate to call them again!

They do everything for me. They are very responsive and the price is very reasonable. They come out to give me a price right away at my convenience. They are extremely thorough and meticulous. The work is done to my complete satisfaction. They make suggestions on how some things can be improved. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Ivan, the owner of Ace Custom Building came for the appointment to look at what I needed done and I was impressed with his knowledge and helpfulness. He had the estimate within a few days and his estimate was very reasonable compared to the others I had got. I was ordering the tub that he was going to install so I had him paint and replace a lot of cement board on my detached 3 car garage first. He started the demo on the master bathroom and I was very impressed with his concern for trying to keep as much dirt and construction dust from leaving the bathroom area. He put up plastic sheeting over doorway with a zipper to keep dust from settling in rest of house and tarps on all carpets. He removed the jacuzzi tub and demolished the shower down to studs and cement floor and removed all floor tile in bathroom.My wife and I discussed our ideas of the tile with him we had picked out for floor and shower and Ivan came up with some great ideas that we had not thought of. He suggested making the shower pony come down level with tub and building a small bench to sit on in the shower.He came up with several mosaic options for trim tile in shower and around tub that look excellent. Ivan is not fast but he is a professionaland really cares about doing quality work. The seamless shower glass installer was amazed at the quality of the tile work and he really was amazed at how square and level everything was which made his job of installing the shower glass easier than most jobs he goes on. I would use Ace Custom Building again and I have recommended him to all of my neighbors.

Ace Custom Building selected materials for durability and long life using pressure treated lumber for framing with composite panels for the skin. All dimensions are extremely precise to cover the transformer, allow for appropriate air circulation and conserve materials.
