I couldn't find anyone who would deliver. Finally I reached this company and they said they would have to charge me a delivery fee. This was reasonable to me because I realize it's a bit of a distance. I was originally going to purchase a half cord of wood, but the owner said even though the cost of the wood would be higher, delivery is the same. I ended up purchasing a full cord. It was delivered and stacked nicely. It's definitely good, dried, hard wood. I can't remember exactly what I paid, but I'm happy with the service, and will utilize them again.

I thought I needed a 1/2 cord of wood. When I spoke with Reggie, owner of The Woodshed, he described the dimensions of the final stack of wood included in a 1/2 cord. Way more than I needed or had space to store. We agreed I probably needed 1/4 cord. Reggie quoted what I thought was a fair price for pre-split hardwood logs, then told me upfront that the delivery charge -- in addition to the cost of the wood itself -- would be the same as if I were buying a 1/2 cord, making my final cost higher. I asked if I could pick up the wood myself, as I had an appropriate vehicle to do so. He said yes, and that his crew would stack the wood in my vehicle for me. We agreed on a date and time for the pickup, which went very smoothly. I drove the wood home, stacked it in my storage space, and was very pleased with the entire experience. I also noted on The Woodshed's website that Reggie offers wood for outings, campfires, etc. to non-profit organizations at no cost if they call him in advance of the date needed. This impressed me very much, as although it may seem a small and unimportant offer, it helps volunteers at non-profits offset an expense at a time when their budgets all are constrained by the economy.

Great! I've bought wood from Reggie at The Wood Shed twice now this year. Once in January (perfect timing before we had the super cold weather and some snow days!) and again this weekend to deliver a cord of wood to my house in the West University area. He's very responsive and super friendly. His crew is nice, fast/hard workers and they do a great job neatly stacking the wood in my 1/2 cord racks - they even cover it with my tarps for me! Even though its Houston and we don't NEED to light fires in our fireplaces - I do so as often as possible just because I love having fires in the fireplace on weekends and evenings. I had been buying firewood in small bundles at Bering's and other places around and knew that I was paying entirely too much (and banging up the leather in my car in the interim). I found The Wood Shed after doing a Google search - and I'm so glad I did! The bulk delivery straight to my wood racks is so convenient and easy! I highly recommend Reggie and The Wood Shed! I just got a new delivery yesterday and now I'm ready for Winter!
