The Big Deal did not explain that the shower door had to be purchased through the company; I have already bough a new shower door. The lady I spoke to was nice and helpful. She understood. I just think they should add to the Big Deal description that the door must be purchased through the company.

We had a large shower but our fifty year old shower door opening was not working. I thought it was locked-up and because the curtain keeps going back into the shower that is why I wanted that to be frameless and they did that. It looks like a small opening, they did it customized, came back with the door one day, and it was wonderful. They did it well, very professional, I cannot say good enough about them, and I will go back to them again.

They came back and installed the shower door and half glass window. Although they did damage a tile, they worked with us to resolve and fix before leaving after installation. Very professional, consciousnesses, and did not get in a hurry. The experience was great and was very impressed with the company.
Description of Work: Called them and set up an appointment. They came out and took measurements and sat down to discuss cost. I asked about discounts, they said if I was a member of Angies List, they had a coupon available from them. I joined Angie's List and purchased the coupon and they immediately took the coupon amt off the bill.

2 week lead time from order date. Showed up as promised with glass components made to fit. Install took about 2 hours and guys were professional and courteous. Will require revisit for minor door adjustment but I understand this is not unusual. I expect the the office will be responsive to my call based upon their reputation and written guarantee.

The estimator arrived on time and gave full details as to what was included. He helped us pick the hardware that would match other metal fixtures in the room. The installers had to reschedule latter in the day, but called before, and arrived when they promised. They took their time and did a professional job. Very polite. The finished product is all that we hoped for and it makes the bathroom look much bigger. Thanks for the excellent service.

I signed a paper after shower door was installed verifying door was installed. Since I could not use the shower for another 24 hrs. I had no way of knowing the shower door would not close properly and would flood our BRAND NEW bathroom floor. I thought maybe I was not closing the door properly so tried using it a couple more times before I called to complain. Unfortunately, I had to have major surgery at the same time and after returning from hospital I immediately contacted SD of H to complain. I was told I would have to wait at least 8 days before anyone could "come out to look at it." I could not wait 8 days for someone to "look at it." After I told them I was going to contact American Express, they suddenly sent me an email (who is checking their email after having major surgery???) advising they would send a "salesman" to look at the shower door. " The salesman then called to come "look at it" the next day. I asked him what good could he do; the installers needed to come get the door and fix or replace it. I requested to talk to the Owner or President. Was told he could not call me for another 5 days. As you might expect he did not call so I had to call asking for him. I asked him if that is how they treat all their customers after taking their money and installing a piece of crap. After heated discussion he advised he would have his "scheduler" call me to have his installers come out right away. -- As expected they did not call or come. I immediately contacted American Express and after investigation SDoH advised AE they would be "glad to come out and repair the door or gladly return our money." I have cell phone records proving I have contacted them three times since then and each time they have refused to come get the door, repair it or refund our $1400. -- I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and they advised that because had contacted American Express, they "could not get involved." (Better said customers like SDoH that have to pay for memberships are the only thing keeping BBB in business. Do you think BBB is going to help me?) I have re-submitted another claim with AE and pending outcome, will next take our claim to the television media and small claims court. -- WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. They use non-english speaking employees you can not communicate with; obviously poor salesmen; install defective product and refuse to repair, replace or refund your money. 8/12/2014 UPDATE: On 5/29/14, Customer took Shower Doors of Houston to court in Harris County, TX. Unsurprisingly, SDoH refused to even show up. Based on all the evidence presented, including documents to/from American Express and BBB of Houston, the Judge awarded AGAINST Shower Doors of Houston. Customer was awarded cost of shower door, $1400 + COURT COSTS + ALL INTEREST UNTIL CUSTOMER IN PAID IN FULL. As of 8/12/14, Customer allowed SDoH to retrieve their defective shower door and SDoH has still refused to pay customer. Instead, SDoH has repeatedly sent a bogus Release of Lien form demanding that customer sign before they will make payment. The Courts have personally instructed SDoH that customer is not to sign anything until payment is made in full. Instead of paying Customer, they sent the Release form again, ILLEGALLY NOTARIZED WITHOUT THE CUSTOMERS KNOWLEDGE AND SIGNATURE. AS OF AUGUST 2014, LEGAL STEPS HAVE BEEN INITIATED AGAIN AGAINST SHOWER DOORS OF HOUSTON. -- FUTURE BUYERS BEWARE!!!
Description of Work: Sent employee out to measure for a new glass frameless shower door. Charged us $700 deposit and took another 11 days for two non-English speaking employees to install. First off, the two installers made a horrible mess coming in and out of our house during installation, without cleaning it up. Secondly, they did not tell us the door did not fit the shower space properly. They installed it; taped it open with a sign not to use for 24 hrs.; left another horrible mess in the bathroom and left. Then charged me another $700.

Much of what was detailed in this review is absolutely inaccurate. Shower Doors of Houston has responded to BBB complaints as well as American Express complaints from this customer. Showed up for all appointments on time or early. There price was competitive, so we made our decision by the recommendations from Angie's list and thought they would be a reliable company to work with. Installed Frameless Shower Door. Door looks great however we now have a shower door that leaks every time you take a shower. Had Houston Shower Doors come back to look at the door and there solution was either to have a metal frame put on the threshold, which defeats the idea of a frameless shower (which we paid extra for the frameless shower door). The reason they said the shower leaks is because the threshold tilts the wrong direction (which they found out with a level). Our question is why didn't the original installers note that was a problem, I believe they had a level.. The next solution is at our expense to have the threshold (which is all tile) torn out and redone. Had they found that the threshold was a problem in the beginning, maybe we would have had a frame shower installed, which was about $300 cheaper. I had to rate the overall experience a D, because before the door looked bad but did not leak, Now the door looks good but it leaks. We believe that his was a mistake made by Houston Shower Doors and they should be held accountable to make sure they provide good customer satisfaction.

As always, we will take every opportunity to address the customer's tile curb issue. This was not a product or service issue that was in Shower Doors of Houston's control. In fact, when old enclosures are removed (as was done here), we cannot be absolutely sure that another contractor has completed their body of work properly. Either way, leaks may be out of our control, but we will work with the customer to rectify to the best of our ability.

Based on Angie's List reviews, I chose this company to bid on a job requiring 3 frame-less glass shower enclosures, and glass fabrication for a few other odds and ends. The service was very professional, the people friendly, well-versed and well-suited to their work. I have no doubt they would have done a great job. However, there has to be a point where acceptable service meets acceptable prices. I took 3 bids from what I considered acceptable vendors and had the work done very satisfactorily for almost 20% less by another vendor. I have just completed a home-"rebuild" (a "renovation" on steroids) in the $300,000 range and have found Angie's list recommended vendors to be more expensive than other successful bidders in other occasions as well. I try to choose 3 companies (only one from Angie's list); may not always give the job to the lowest bidder; and I don't "shop" bids. Much depends on conversations and attitudes exhibited from on-site interviews. It's still necessary to weigh the value of service with the value of money. Some things are easier to compare and quantify than others, but this job was pretty straight-forward. Like most monetary decisions: Caveat Emptor. I'm finished with the job and the "experiment" of Angie's List. I'm cancelling my subscription. I'm doing better talking to my neighbors and friends and getting recommendations for related vendors (eg. plumbing supply recommending plumber; tile guy recommending glass guy; irrigation company recommending landscapers; etc). It's great to get a solid recommendation and have multiple references and reviews, but be aware that Angie's List might well cost you a LOT more than the annual subscription fee.

We purchased a $ 99 big deal for glass shower doors installation. I did not pay additional for the installation. I just had to pay for the door. I purchased it from the company. Very Bad Experience. - Bought an AL BigDeal for Shower Doors of Houston to do a shower door install for $99. After 2 no show/ no call appointments, I called the day before the 3rd try. The owner told me they would only install my new shower door if I had bought it from them and which was why they didn?t show for the other 2 appointments. Purchasing from Shower Doors of Houston WAS NOT a condition of the AL BigDeal. The BigDeal help desk offered to send me a refund which was not what I wanted because buying the BigDeal had already caused me to miss the option of having the contractor that built the shower also do the door install. The BigDeal help desk reluctantly agreed to look for an alternate to do the installation for the same price. After 2 months of very little effort, and unresponsivness from the help desk to status requests, I gave up and accepted the refund ? not worth the aggravation. Both Shower Doors of Houston and Angie?s List should get an ?F? on this.

The Big Deal that the customer purchased was for FREE installation of a shower enclosure purchased through Shower Doors of Houston. The customer misunderstood the fact the shower glass must be purchased through our company. The proper terms and conditions will now be included in the Angie's List Big Deal. Angie's List did not properly include this information. This is the first instance of such a case. We suggested the customer ask for a refund, which was provided.

Good showroom with plenty of options to look over. Pleasant staff at their offices. Good guy showed up at the house right at the scheduled time to give me a quote a few days after I called. No hard sell but definitely wanted to sell you the biggest piece of glass he could. Did not hard sell the ShowerGuard coating which I did not want and did not get. I asked for a little bit of custom work in that I wanted a frameless installation but I wanted a top frame bar supporting the non-door panels so that when the inevitable shower door slam occurs everything stays solid. I had seen several installations of the type I was getting and the panel in line with the door was always a little wobbly. No problem for them to add the top support. I also wanted a 30? towel bar mounted off center in one of the pieces of glass. He did not look comfortable when I requested mounting it off center saying they always center their towel bars so, since it was not critical to me, I decided to not get the glass installed towel bar. The quote guy asked me how I?d heard of them ? standard good marketing question. I told him, accurately, that I?d done a web search and found several Houston vendors. I did not tell him about Angie?s List. The quote guy could have done a better job of stepping through the quote in detail, but I asked enough questions to ensure I was getting what I wanted. Then, after I had his price I pulled out the Angie?s list 10% discount coupon I had printed. That surprised him. I won?t say he was unhappy, but he wasn?t happy. He accepted the coupon without problem. I wonder if the quote would have been higher had he known the coupon was coming. The price was not cheap, but was in line with what I was expecting. After the discount the installed cost of the glass was $47.25 per ft2 for 38.2 total square feet of glass in a two-sided corner shower installation with brushed nickel beveled hardware and a brushed nickel top header support. Shower is approximately 43? x 43? square. An hour or so after giving me the quote at my house I got a confirming email. Slick. A few hours after giving me the quote at my house, they called and said the earliest install date was 16 days later. Longer than I wanted, and longer than the 10 to 14 days they stated, but I agreed. To this point the experience & responsiveness had been very good. I did not receive any communication from them prior to the install date. That should have been suspicious to me and I should have followed up on it I guess, but I was busy and assumed we were on track. On the install date, 16 days after the order, they did not show up for the installation within the stated 1-hour window. I called & asked them what the deal was. They called back 40 minutes later, but not to the number I had told them to call, and gave several excuses that sounded like lies and finally, sounding like the truth, stated one piece of the glass was missing. Sounds like they had forgotten about the install and then sent a guy to grab the glass and head to my house but he could not find the glass. Conjecture, but that is how it sounded. They asked me to wait at the house, or meet them back at the house, for them to install that afternoon. I cancelled for the day. Being paid by the hour, missing work had cost me real money. At least 3 calls from them the rest of the day with many excuses of this and that but finally announcing that the door glass was missing and would take 2-3 days to get on re-order if it was really missing which they weren?t yet sure of as they had paperwork saying it was in their possession. Perhaps they should have put in this large effort prior to the install date. Glad I did not sit at the house losing more income awaiting their arrival. They called at 5 PM that day saying they found the door, it was mislabeled and could they come out that night and do the 4 hour install? No thank you. Then how about the weekend? So we scheduled the install for Sunday afternoon. They arrived a little early and did a very good job installing the door. The glass and install looks great. The cleanup was not spotless, but was very good. They warned me not to touch the installed glass or open the door for 24 hours and were gone 2.5 hours after starting. I like to think I helped as I had prepped the area for them including removing an interior door that would have been a hassle to go through, and placing a towel and thick cardboard in my immediately adjacent bathtub so they could step in and out. When I asked the salesman about protecting the tub he said protecting the tub was not necessary because the workmen take their shoes off. Was he lying? Or just ignorant? I know which I believe... Protect anything you don?t want people stepping directly on and realize that with any work there is always some collateral damage. If it is minor or cosmetic, that is the best you can hope for. One thing I was puzzled by, they used standard masonry bits to drill the tile. The tile I have is stout, hard, porcelain and you could hear the drilling go on and on as they struggled to bore through it. They didn?t use core-type wet diamond bits. I can partially see why, that does risk a mess and gets things wet that must be dried for caulking. But, the dry masonry drilling puts out plenty of dust. I drilled several holes in my tile during the shower?s construction using core diamond wet bits. My drilling was much faster and easier. They got the job done though. I had also asked the salesman giving me the quote if the glass would be stamped/marked that it is tempered/safety glass. He said absolutely, all their glass is marked. You guessed it, I cannot find a tempered/safety-glass stamp or mark anywhere. Again, a liar or ignorant? I had photos of the under-the-tile construction showing stud locations and went over it with them. They feigned disinterest but I left the photos and assume it helped let them know that they had studs they could hit rather than have to rely on anchors. They were not happy to be there Sunday afternoon, and when they left they nicely explained that they had just relocated offices and suppliers and glass had gotten turned around and that is why Thursday went poorly but they still could have come out Thursday night. They asked why it had to be Sunday afternoon as if it was my fault that things didn?t work out Thursday and that it was my fault I already had plans Saturday and that I went to church on Sunday mornings. Sorry guys, but thanks for the good job. Even with good companies things will not always go well. Do they back their work? Do they do their best to make it right? Good companies do. Though it cost me some income and a Sunday afternoon, good craftsmanship is hard to find and I am overall pleased. I?d use them again with the knowledge that it will take longer than expected.

Shower Doors of Houston came in and took measurements. They gave us several quotes on shower glass and doors including the framed ones and the frameless ones. The price difference was negligible between the two so I quickly took the opportunity to have a beautiful frameless shower door. It took about 10 days before they were able to come back and install our new wall and door. They were very punctual and meticulous during the installation. The glass came sealed by Showerguard. The installation itself took almost 4 hours but they did a great job. We have had the shower glass and door for over 6 months now and the everything is still like new. The glass is thick and of excellent quality and the door has held up very well. It closes and opens with ease with no need for a magnetic strip. Even though I didn't realize there was a rebate of $50 from Showerguard, Shower Doors sent me the rebate form for me to submit. It was a nice surprise and very considerate of them.

I found this company through a large volume and overall high rating on Angie'sList.com. The company was running a promotional coupon on Angie'sList.com for half-off installation, which I took advantage of. The sales representative (Ryan) arrived promptly for his scheduled appointment. He was very informative, professional, and courteous. He spent the time needed to take accurate measurement of the shower opening. A glass wall was previously installed, and Ryan helped us match the glass thickness, color, and hardware to the previously existing glass wall so that the entire job would look cohesive. After factoring the savings from the AL.com coupon, the total price from Shower Doors of Houston was $500 (which was $400 cheaper than a $900 quote I received from another company). About 2 1/2 weeks after I placed a down payment, a crew of two arrived at the house for installation of the shower door. The crew took about 2 hours to install the new door. Overall, the shower door looks very nice. I waited a few months to write this review to ensure that the hinges and water seals would work properly, and there have been no issues to date. I would highly recommend this company based on price and professionalism.

We're very impressed and happy with Shower Doors of Houston. We called them because we were remodeling our master bathroom and wanted to replace our framed glass enclosure with frameless glass. SDOH was able to give us an appointment soon after we called. The sales rep took measurements in order to give us a price quote but advised us that we'd need to have them back out to take exact measurements again once our remodel was finished (because we were having tile redone and changing the dimensions of the shower). The price was fair and the sales rep volunteered the Angies List discount without our having to ask. There were no problems in getting the rep back out when we were ready to re-measure, and they gave us a realistic timeline for when the glass would be ready. Finally, the install day came and the two installers did a fantastic job. They cleaned up properly and were totally professional. I would recommend this company to friends and family and would call them again if I ever did another bathroom.

I got an online coupon through Angie's list for up to $300 off a new frameless shower door through this company. I had been wanting to do that for some time but could not justify the price. That put me over the line to go ahead. The company contacted me right away to set up the estimate and install. Turns out they only have me $100 off which just covered the special glass coating which was extra. So the coupon thru Angie's list was very misleading. At that point I was already committed so I went ahead. I do love the outcome even though I felt a bit duped. The worker was quick and accurate and polite.

Measurements were easy. They took our coupon. They had delays in meeting the schedule they gave and so the upgraded us to shower guard glass for no charge. Installation was quick and looks great. Employees were professional and friendly.

I did not choose to purchase an expensive door, so I asked for my money back. I also felt that I was a little decieved as I did not read that I had to purchase their door.
Description of Work: I bought a $99 special for a shower door instillation. However, when they called me to set it up, I found out that I needed to purchase a door from them. I did not read that in the print and was unaware of this detail. They said it would be $500 or more and was told a premade door from one of the stores would probably not fit. I contacted Angies List for a refund immediately and they said I had to write a review to get it, so I will expect this to serve as my review and issue my refund.

Response from Shower Doors of Houston
We are unaware of any issues related to the Angie's List Big Deal coupon, as this is the first time we've experienced any customer concerns. We do not control Angie's List or how refunds are processed. As always, we are glad to assist in making sure the customer receives what was purchased or provide a refund. This is obviously an Angie's List issue as we do not manage the coupon redemption or policies associated with it.

Response from Shower Doors of Houston
We are unsure what the customer means by "did not indicate when I purchased that I had to use their doors". There may be a mistake here as we do not perform any other work, but shower glass. We are more than happy to discuss the situation again and will advise of the most cost effective way to handle. Please ask for the Owner, Chris Sezonov. Office # 281 220 6886.

They showed up on time, were courteous and explained what they were going to do and how long it would take. When they finished installing the shower enclosure, they cleaned up the mess and packed up their equipment. Before they left, one of them explained to me how to care for the finish on the shower glass and told me to call if I had any questions or ran into any problems with the shower glass. They did this all pretty quickly since they had other appointments to keep. I have no problems with the shower enclosure and am quite pleased with it.
Description of Work: Installed a frameless shower enclosure in the master bathroom.
