Although the technician came 10 minutes late, he did have the courtesy to call me ahead of time to let me know. Once he arrived, he went straight to work and had the wireless keypad installed within 10-minutes. Then he spent about 5 minutes spraying a lubricant on the garage door. Overall, it took about 20 minutes for the entire procedure. One of the good things about this company is that they will ask you where and how you want the keypad installed. I think that a different company might not have worried about this. The only bad thing about this company is that you will need to buy 'the special deals' directly from Angie's List to avoid paying taxes. In my experience, they told me not to worry about buying the special, because it will be the same price in person. However, the person that came to my home charged me taxes on the $109 special. This is not a big deal, but if you want the difference, this company will make you drive to their business to pick up an $8.00 check instead of mailing it to you. Overall a semi-positive experience, but I would reconsider using them again because I don't like being overcharged.

I actually didn't care for them too much. They're pretty high in price. The price I got from them was almost dollars and I found it in another on Angie's List and they were only 550. They're like 150 dollars more for the same exact thing. I thought that was a little rough. When I first called them up, I talked to the lady that answered the phone who said she could help me. I started asking some more specific questions which she didn't have the answer to so she had to get another guy. I have to go through two or three different people just to find out the information that I wanted to have. They just didn't seem to know as much about garage doors as I would like a garage door company to.

After an initial problem with scheduling (due to a mis-set gps, I think) the technician showed up on the dot, diagnosed the problem with the garage door and gave me a price. I asked if he took Angie's List coupons; he said yes and adjusted the price. In short order (about 45 minutes) he not only had the garage door functioning, but had it running more quitely than it ever had. I'm still not sure it's the same door and motor--Amazing!

Experience went quite smoothly. I am the administrator for an estate and was informed late Saturday afternoon that it was necessary to replace the garage door. I filled out a request for an on-line estimate, after first leaving messages for some companies I found on Angie's list. Someone called me back in about 30 minutes. I explained we wanted just a plain Jane raised panel in almond because we plan to list the house in a few weeks, so no fancy features or upgrades. I was quoted $500 for builder's grade and $550 for slightly better model with two springs. I went with the $550 and asked if it included tax. I was told technically no but they would do for a flat $550.00. So I scheduled for today between 9:00 and 9:30. The repairman arrived promptly at 9:00 and went to work. Price was exactly as quoted, with no hassles of any sort. No extra parts, etc. Door was just installed but seems to be operating fine. It is very similar to old door, but seems to be a little better quality. I greatly appreciated the quick response as today was a holiday and I did not to work. Otherwise I would have had to take off work or wait until Saturday. I might add that I am still waiting for at least two companies to even contact me, including the one I found on Angie's list and left VM. Note: work was performed at address other than my residence, but Angie's computer would not seem to let me post unless I checked box for my own address, even though I entered the address where work was performed.

This was a miserable experience. I bought a deal found on this site for a new garage door opener for $490. The man they sent then told me the deal I bought doesn't cover the cost of a tune-up. I told him I needed a tune-up. He then sold me on some new nylon rollers and showed me where some hinges were broken. This was all fine and I agreed as I wanted everything to be repaired and not be hassled again. We agreed on a price of $300 + tax on top on the aforementioned $490. After he was finished he gave me only 1 remote. I called the manager who said for the price I was quoted I'm only entitled to 1 remote. For this much money, this is ridiculous. The guy then programmed my car and left. As I was cleaning up, I noticed that I couldn't find my remote. I looked everywhere for an hour. I called the repair guy, and he didn't understand who I was and what I was asking about. He eventually said he would come back in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, he hadn't showed, so I called him again. I repeated that I couldn't find the remote and suggested that maybe he had put in his pocket and forgotten to give it back to me. He was offended and claimed I accused him of stealing. I politely said no, I don't believe that happened, but please check his pockets. He said he would come back in an hour. Unconvinced, I called the manager and explained the situation who said he would call his guy. 10 minutes later, the repair calls back and says, "yeah, I have your remote, I'll be back in an hour." At this time, I look up the original Angie's list deal which clearly states "tune-up included." When the repair guy comes back to drop off the remote, I ask him why I was charged twice for a tune-up. He says I got a "special tune-up." I say I just wanted a regular one, and that you didn't tell me that that's what I was getting. You told me that the tune-up wasn't included. He doesn't have an explanation for me, so I call a manager. She says that her guy did, in fact, explain things to me and that I got a "special" tune-up and paid an extra $45. I say I didn't want that and this whole experience has been a dismal experience because of this and the remote issue. She says it's my fault for forgetting and that her guy had to waste time to come back. At this point, I've had it and just say I don't care about the money but can't help feeling like I've been cheated. It's only after I say that I'm going to write a negative review on this site that she agrees to send me back a check for $45. Once again, I don't care about the money. I just spent $750 to fix a garage door. They did a good job on it. But they go about it in a really sleazy way. I won't use them again.N

It turns out that all of their work was wrong and I was overcharged. I found this out 3 years later after another company came out and charged me $210 for not just adjusting, but replacing the springs, which were incorrectly installed in the first place, whereas Crown Overhead Doors charged us $460 just to adjust the tracks, lubricate the door tension and the springs, installing 10 new wheels, and the tune up on the door. I will never use them again. Shame on them.

Called the company on Saturday morning, and they had a technician come out to diagnose the problem by Saturday afternoon. They called Monday to confirm the day they would come, then showed up when they said, installed the new motor, and removed the old mechanism without a trace. They had to come back the next day to set up the remote control. The whole thing was very efficient and convenient. I had had the motor priced by another company, and this price was very competitive.

This company wasted by time completely. I liked them the first time they came out my door opener wasn't working and it turned out that it just needed to be reset. They didn't charge me at all for that. The next time they came out because I realized by door hinges were coming apart and the jams were splitting. Victor quoted $850 for an insulated steel door, $380 for a 1/2 HP Liftmaster opener and $260 to replace the jams. I called on Sept. 19th and scheduled the work for the 29th, with Jasmine. She was rude, unprofessional and overly casual, leaving me a little skeptical about their follow through. When I never got the confirmation call she promised, I called on the 26th. A male said they could do the work on the 29th no problem, but he couldn't find my information and even had a wrong phone number down under my name. I gave him all the details, AGAIN. He promised to call back that day, but still hasn't called as of Oct. 1. I understand their power was out for some time, but that is no excuse for such poor customer service and follow through. Don't waste time calling Crown, they're a joke!
Description of Work: I had Crown come to my home twice for quotes and once for an issue with the door opener not functioning and again when I realized that the door jams that the tracks were mounted on were splitting and needed to be replaced. I scheduled the work to be done on Sept. 29. When I never got a confirmation call back, I called on Sept. 26. They couldn't find my records but promised to call back that day. I never got a return phone call at all, as of Oct. 1, still waiting. I guess my $1,500 job didn't matter to them.

Miguel came on time, actually a little bit earlier, which was fine. The job did not take him that long. I am glad he pointed out some of the other old wheels that could have broken anytime or the next day. I did not mind paying to have all 10 wheels replaced, as I like to have things fixed before they break down if I can help it. He also "lubed" the door. This is the original garage door from when the house was build in 1980, but had the motor replaced (by Crown Door) when we moved in the house in 1991. I have had them come out ever since for minor repairs and have always been pleased with the service. I have no idea how they compare to other companies price wise, but I never feel like I've been "ripped" off.

My garage door spring busted 2 nights before and luckily my car was not inside the garage. I had to park my car on street and risk someone stealing fuel from my car since other cars were being targeted. So of course I was quick to try to get some one out here on Memorial Weekend last minute. The original garage door company came out and didn't have the spring I needed and said that I would have to wait till Tuesday to get it fixed. Mind you this Friday at 4:30pm and it's too late to get someone else out here. Crown was quick to get someone out on Saturday morning. The only other complaint I would have is their secretary, Jasmine was very immature and got my street address and phone number wrong several times. She was giggling and wasn't listening. She wanted to hang up without confirming each time I repeated the address. I was left feeling uneasy about services to be rendered. Crown Doors repairman, Oscar came out 30 minutes late. We haggled over cost, in which he wanted to charge $320 and told him I had a quote for $160 and would wait till Tuesday if I had to. He came down to $200 and I said yes. Garage Door worked perfect after repair was done. Thankfully I already had done my homework and after knowing approx. cost from a first quote and looking through Angie's List of other Garage Door companies and comparing services, I knew the quote would be high. I just didn't know it would be that high. STICKER SHOCK!

I had bought a garage door opener/installation from Lowe's two weeks ago. I scheduled two separate installers and when the time came, they didn't show or they couldn't do the work. So I gave up on Lowe's and consulted Angie's list. I called Crown door, a knowledgeable person answered right away. He recommended a 1/2 HP screw drive opener and said they could install it that afternoon (it was President's day and I was off work.) An experienced installer was there within 3 hours and installed it without any fuss in an hour. He lubricated to door also. The whole thing was the same price as Lowe's. The installer showed me how to work it and was very efficient and courteous. I was so frustrated after two failed attempts with Lowe's installers - this company was a life-saver.

They came out on a Sunday morning, very early to replace our garage door. They were reasonably priced. The guy who installed the garage door, I would give an overall grade of an A to but, the guy who installed our keypad was about a B. All in all, we would definitely use this company again especially, if the (garage door) motor ever goes out in the future.

He arrived 5 minutes earlier than scheduled, so that was good. Problem was his price. He initially told me it would be $185.00 for the repair. But when I said that was fine he quickly came back with "each spring" (185 x 2 = $370.00!). I told him I thought that was ridiculous and I would call someone else. He then came back with $90 material cost for each spring plus $95 labor for a total of $275 (plus tax). I agreed to this price as I was under a time constraint. He had the job completed in twenty minutes and out the door with my $303. I happened to run into a garage door repairman about a week later and asked what charged for materials and labor to replace both springs and he told me $150. He had a good laugh at my expense when I told him what I had paid.

I called the Crown Door immediately after hearing the garage door spring break. They sent out a service technician right away.
