When we got home from shopping Saturday night we smelled natural gas in our home. The fire department came and told us their sniffers detected a gas leak in the vicinity of our stove. They turned off the gas at the stove supply line inlet. We called Santhoff Plumbing on Monday morning, and made an appointment for 9:30 AM that same day. Their dispatcher suggested we print their Angie's List coupon for a free service call. Two men from Santhoff Plumbing arrived promptly at 9:30 AM. It took them about 15 minutes to determine that there was no leak. We also asked them to repair a hot water heater that wouldn't light and to check our dryer exhaust hose, which had come off, possibly due to a blockage at the exterior vent. The men from Santhoff Plumbing relit our hot water heater, reattached our dryer vent hose and cleaned out the area behind the dryer. Because they were only charging for a service call, after the coupon there was no charge at all. I asked them to charge me something, because they had actually performed three services for me, but their answer was no.

I had a different company come out earlier in day and they looked at my shower for 1 minute and told me that I would need to remove the entire thing and replace the shower pan below (major construction). I didn't really feel great about the recommendation, knowing it would easily be $1500 minimum just to remove, so I called Santhoff for a 2nd opinion the same day. Technician came out and told me exactly what to do to - which was a great temporary fix (and something I would only need to do every 3-4 years). Cost me $50 to buy the supplies he suggested and PROBLEM SOLVED. Second opinion saved me thousands of dollars.

It seemed to go well. They're very prompt, they had to go out and search for the new cartridge.

They arrived on time, wore special booties over their shoes when they came into the house & even cleaned up the work area to look just like it did before they arrived. We were very impressed. We will for sure use them again. Thank you Santhoff Plumbing!

I made the mistake of starting the removal and installation of a gas stove top unit, then I got smart and called in the experts. They were on time and went above and beyond in putting the stove top in. Very happy with the results! I will definitely use this company again.

The hot water knob wouldn't turn all the way off in the shower/bathtub. There was a small, constant stream of hot water. The tile in the shower/bathtub is the original tile from 1960, and it is probably the original faucet and knobs. Called Santhoff at 8:10 am. Said they would be out between 2 and 5 the same day. Offered to have someone come out immediately to shut off the water. But we had already done that. The technician, Jose B., called at 1:15 to verify address. Realized he was close and said he could be here in a few minutes. Arrived at 1:30. I turned on the water and showed him the problem. I also showed him how the tile board behind where he would be working was crumbling and told him I was concerned the tile/wall might come down in the process. Jose did inspection, told me what the problem was and gave me a price, including what the additional charge would be if he didn't have the part on his truck. I agreed to the work. Jose turned off the water, performed the rebuild job, turned back on the water, and cleared the lines. He was done by 2:45. He did have the necessary parts on the truck. He was able to reuse my existing knobs and only replace the internal valves. The tile/wall was unharmed. Only issue I had was very minor - he didn't clean up footprints in the tub or some small debris that washed into a sink when he was clearing the line. Total charges $197.90 = ($49 service fee + $150 labor charge for job + $20 parts) - 10% Angie's List coupon.

They gave me the quote over the phone. Their price was competitive with another company. I can't remember the difference in price. I talked to them over the phone and I initially called them, if I remember right. They called me back and they discussed the size of the house. They answered several questions and I just asked for a phone quote stating that if they did come out they could change their quote. I needed a little better feel for what the final price would be but did not want to pay to have them come out. They quoted around $14000.

Santhoff Plumbing Company were pretty good overall; they arrived on time, diagnosed the problem with our water heater, and got us a new one the next day. The only dislike is that they only install one brand of water heater and they wouldn't provide any other brand; that's something I wish they would do.

Their team showed up on time and with all of the equipment needed to do the job. They explained the cost and got agreement before beginning work, and explained what they were going to do and the limitations inherent in the process. In the end they were not able to clear the drain due to structural failure of the pipe due to age and foundation settling. They provided an estimate to replace the under-slab plumbing the next day as promised.

They came in re-installed a new shower pan & even cleaned up after themselves. Which was real impressive.

Michael and helper, Jimmy were prompt for an appointment set up a couple of days previously. They were neat and Michael clearly knew exactly what to do to get the valves apart.It took two of them to put enough force to get the valves unfrozen; one of them under the sink.They had to go their supplier as the valves I had purchased ahead of their visit were all the wrong ones and they did not carry in their truck the sink valves.However, they got the entire job done in about two hours.The valves are working perfectly.I would certainly recommend Santhoff for plumbing repairs.

James the plumber was very organized and had all the parts needed for the job. He even cleaned up before he left by sweeping his work area.

The work was done in two stages. Company maintained continuity of personnel on project to assure quality control and accountability. Technician trouble-shot a defective drain fitting and replaced. Assured our satisfaction prior to departure.

Called the company to get a quote on jet cleaning my yard drain. Person on phone quoted a price per hour, but when plumber arrived he said they quoted me the wrong price and the actual cost was twice as much per hour for that work. I fully explained the work to be done to the office people, but apparently they are not competent to quote accurate prices or did it on purpose, don't know. Plumber was polite, but explained their office quotes wrong prices to customers all the time. I did not use this company for obvious reasons. Only reason this is not a worse review is that they didn't charge me the $50 trip fee, but they wasted several hours of my time. I won't use them for any future jobs.

They fixed a section of galvanized pipe in my attic that had a rust through hole and was leaking into the den. It was an emergency type call and they were there within 30 minutes. It was in the middle of the day, so they were working. Fixed it and found another spot and replaced the whole section of pipe. Nice, now I don't worry. In the past they have replaced my water heater and came back 2 times under warranty to fix the pilot light capillary tube and to upgrade the water heater to code with a dust screen, etc. Also, they re-plumbed my water entry/shut-off valve another time, plus they have given me an estimate to replumb my old house. I have worked with 4 of their folks and can speak very highly of them. They know what they are doing. They answered all of my questions. They cover their work with a warranty and stick by it. It took me awhile to get used to their rates (they were the first plumbers that I have used (I did all my own work in the past), but in a comparison that I did after the first time, they are in the middle of the range. I originally called them as I am in Sharpstown and so are they...well, their owner lives a few blocks from me. ...their office is near Chimney Rock and Bellaire.

We have used Santhoff Plumbing twice, June 2011 and January 2010. We have a recurring drain blockage and backup problem that has required a plumber about once a year. Santhoff took the time to diagnose and explain the problem and direct us to the most cost-effective means of solving the problem. Very professional and very thorough as well as very nice. The work Mac did in cleaning out our system was over and above any other plumbers we've had in the past. He was on our roof past dark working until the blockage was removed. Would definitely recommend them and use them again. Would also like to mention that, even though we are on the other side of Houston from their normal territory, they arrived when expected.

They were very difficult to schedule with. Communication with them wasn’t easy, so I ended up going with a different provider.

This is the second time that I used them and I’ve been very happy with them. Three of my neighbors used them and they are happy with them too. It was different prices for different things, but I spent almost $500 with them. They were here almost the whole day. There were a lot of things that I had them do. I didn’t want to be blowing insulation in the attic having a leak up there and not knowing about it. I had a pipe that looked like it was going bad because this is a 60 or a 70 year old house with the original plumbing. I didn’t even know if something was going to go wrong in a short term. There was no way that they could guarantee and tell me if something looked like it was going to go bad. I was very happy with them. I thought that their price was excellent. The quality of work was excellent too. They were very punctual. In fact, they were about 10 minutes early. I will definitely use them again. I have a couple of faucets and a commode that I’m fixing to change and they’ll be the first on the list for a bid.

Another plumbing company cleared the line, but not completely. Santhoff continued working on the problem until we were sure the line was clear.

They were timely, gave clear estimates that made sense, and performed the work faster than expected with excellent results. They gave us a warranty for the work (though given the quality of what they do, I doubt we'll ever need to use it). The price was very reasonable given the amount of work. With two great experiences, I highly recommend them. We won't use another plumber.
