One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning - Houston

Overall we have not been pleased with our experience with Hallmark. We signed up for their Essential Service Package which included two routine HVAC maintenance visits to our home, once in the fall to inspect and clean the furnace and once in the spring to clean air handler and compressor/condenser and inspect to make sure all was in working order. Over the span of three years and with the exception of our first service call, every technician tried to sell us a new HVAC unit claiming everything from the evaporator coil was leaking or that the compressor was on its last leg and needed to be replace or that the furnace blower motor was badly rusted and not working properly. Both the AC and the heater worked just fine, without any issues during this time. With each visit I would tell the tech that we would only replace the AC when it just stopped working. This summer when our AC started to not cool as well, I called Hallmark to look at the system and finally I called another company to get a second opinion, something I wish I would have done much sooner. The Hallmark tech told me the unit was finished and needed to be replaced and the second opinion company told me that everything looked in working order, the evaporator coil was not leaking, the unit just needed Freon service and needed to be cleaned (something that should have been included in the bi-annual visit from Hallmark but wasn’t accomplished). Not one service technician from Hallmark checked the Freon in 3 years. Sure enough, once the Freon was added the unit started cooling like it was brand new. I did make the company aware of my concerns that their techs never made an attempt to check the Freon but rather tried to sell me an entire new system and I also made the company aware of my concerns that the equipment was apparently in full working order, unlike what their technicians had said. In their defense, the manager offered to come out and look at the equipment and refund our $175 but I declined the offer as I did not want anything to do with them anymore. After this experience, we will not be using Hallmark.

It went very well. I came home from work Thursday night to find the my air-conditioning wasnt working. Hallmark does my semi-annual HVAC inspections so I called their office late that night and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Dan came out the next day, advised me that my condenser had died (as I suspected) and suggested I get a whole new system, as the rest of it was old, inefficient and on its last legs. (Dan has been doing my inspections for years and has always been honest about what I do and dont need.) The next day (Saturday) Brandon and his team arrived at 5:00 PM and worked quickly and efficiently. By 8:00 they had installed the new equipment and hauled away all the old equipment. They were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous.

Scheduled these guys to come out after receiving a flier in the mail to look over the furnace before the cold season. A guy came while my wife was home and did an inspection. He found the furnace to be in bad condition and showed her video of our furnace and recommended replacement. He mentioned he could put band-aids on it but he didn't feel it would be safe and wouldn't last long. I did get a few second opinions and they all agreed. With that they scheduled Ron to come out and go over options with us. A few days later I met with Ron and found him very pleasant and informative. He took his time to explain everything in detail to make sure I was making an informed decision. He then went over all our options for replacement and was obviously not just trying to upsell us on things we didn't need. he did mention that our air return was too small for the size A/C we had and that it was louder because of it. Talking it over we decided to put another return in the master bedroom where it can get warm at night if the door is closed. He left to let me talk it over with my wife to make a decision. After a few days we decided to to just replace the furnace and install the new air return. We called Ron back to schedule. When the crew came for installation they were all very professional and polite. Ron came with them to make sure everything was good and let us know we were in good hands. When they do any work in your house they put down drop clothes and wear booties on their shoes. They did all the work in short time and then invited me up to the attic to look. The work was very clean and professional looking, I was very pleased. They cleaned up before leaving and you would never be able to tell they were there (including in the attic) All said and done I am very pleased with the experience and I now have a go to AC company I can feel confident in. I felt safe with all workers in my house and the price was very fair.

Everything was conducted in a very efficient and satisfactory manner. They conducted the repair on the one A/C units, and did the tune-up in which they pointed out a number of builder's inadequacies and things that were wearing out after 12 years. Nothing extraordinary, but things that made sense after all this time with no previous break-downs or major repairs. The service technician (Anthony) was very courteous and polite, and seemed to be as upfront as possible with his inspections. I signed up for their contract so they come out in the fall to do a heater/furnace inspection: I had one with another competitor which was very unsatisfactory. I am very, very happy with the service by Hallmark today. I've used them in the past for plumbing and at that time they were also very helpful.....don't know why I changed.

Everything went well, considering. We now have toilets that are in excellent condition and we know how to spot a problem if it arises. The plumbers were very professional and completed their work efficiently.

Very professional. Showed up with paper booties over shoes (so as not to track dirt onto carpet). Accepted coupon when presented with it even though the coupon was not conveyed when setting up appointment. On 12/5/09, came out when heater unexpectedly quit. Did not charge since it was within 30 days of the tune-up. Recommended that I use my home buyer insurance since fix was around $500. I appreciate the responsiveness and honesty of this company and their employees.

They did a good job but they were expensive. The pipes were quite high so I do not know how they did the job but I feel they did it well. I will use them again only for minor jobs.

We didn't know if the leak was from the air conditioner or something else. They had to come out several times. They came out first to diagnose the problem with the AC unit and charged around $79. So the guy who came out said that it was a plumbing problem and so, he called their plumbing unit. They came out very quickly within a couple of hours. They first fixed that problem and it cost me about $150. The air conditioner drain was old and clogged. So, they opened it up as best as they could. We had dripping again after a few days. They came out immediately when I called them. The plumber then went up to look at it again and said that it was working, but it started leaking again. So, I called them back once again and this time the air conditioning guy who had come the first time came out again. He then looked at it and said that he would send out a different crew of plumbers, as I had a problem with the first crew. They came out and diagnosed that we needed to put in a french drain. I told them to go ahead and put in the french drain and they did the work immediately. They didn't delay or say that they would be back in a week. They discovered that the water leak was coming from the upstairs shower where some grout was missing and water was leaking back and coming down which is why the first fix didn't work. So, they put in the french drain and also discovered the source of the leak. They also didn't charge me for multiple calls for coming out here after they did the work when it was still leaking. There was no charge except when they did the work. The french drain was about $500. They charged me less than their estimate. The first guy was a young guy. He was the plumbing guy and was a bit condescending. I didn't like him at all. So, I called the guy who I was used to working with on the air conditioning system. He very gently asked me to tell him as to what was going on and he really had to coax it out of me. He then told me that they had a few similar incidents about the plumbing guy. He also told me that he would talk to a supervisor about it. He knew as to where everything was in the house, as he has been coming to my house for about 10 years now. So, the AC guy really wanted to fix the problem right away and didn't want me to be an unhappy customer. He recommended me once again to go on his service plan so that they come out to do maintenance and he also told me that the calls were cheaper along with many other benefits. That's when we agreed, as my husband used to keep calling them out every now and then. So we had them put in the french drain so that we could keep the AC from overflowing. We also had to fix the grout so that it doesn't overload the other stuff. He told us that we could tell them not to send a particular person to get the work done and he also told us that they wouldn't ask us why we didn't want a particular person. The french drain did solve the initial problem that had caused the other leaks and we also got to know as to why we had the mold growing in the vents. I was surprised that it was inexpensive, as I thought that it would be a very large job just because of the set up in the bathroom. They didn't have the easy ways to put in the french drain and so they had to do more than they would in the regular house. My overall experience with them was good, as they took care of it right away even though there was a problem.

Replaced with good quality water heaters; also added filters to reduce sediment. Water heaters were in a difficult place in the attic to remove and the two technicians did a good job of removing/replacing. Also pleased with the new water heater hook-up as water is now pulled from both heaters simultaneously as compared previously to only pulling hot water from one with the other feeding in on a warm setting. Much better balance between the two water heaters and no longer overworking one heater. Overall, very pleased with results.

Noticed leakage on the bottom of toilet after each flush. Didnt have the tools to get the bolts off the toilet because the bolts were stripped. Plumber came looked at what the problem was and quoted me on what may be the problem. Since there two things that could have been the problem, he quoted me for both but couldnt tell me which one until he started working. He didnt start working until I agreed to each quote. Unfortunately, it was the more expensive of the two quotes and ended up costing alot of money. But he was very professional and did a very thorough and clean job. Replaced the flange, gave us new bolts and cleaned up the area on the bottom of the toilet.

They are well regarded by many in my neighborhood and they were recommended to me by my neighbors. I will continue to use them even if they cost more than others.

I had another plumber come in a redo the work that was done by Jarrel. The technician explain the job in technical plumbing terms that I couldn't understand until the work was done. He seems upset with the questions I was asking regarding the work.

The guy who came listened to what I have to say about what I needed. He didn’t try to sell me something more than what I wanted. I was pleased with that. We have been using them for a couple of years now and we are very satisfied with their work. Their price may be a little bit high, but their quality is very good. We would continue to use them in future.

They do a good job. I'll continue to use them.

The plus side is they are very professionaly run and are good about giving you reminders. The negative side is that all the guys that come out are technicians but at the same time they try to sell you something.

I buy a service policy once a year. They are very professional. I'll continue to use them.

It now works fine and it has all summer. These guys are good. They know their work, come on time and their prices are fair. I'll continue to use them.

They've trained their employees to do a good job. They get in, do good work. We keep going back to Hallmark and are very pleased with them. You pay for what you get with them. They are a little more expensive, but they actually fix the job as opposed to other companies.

They come out when they say they are going to, and they don’t try to sell us something we don’t need. We are just happy with them and I would rate them highly.

Edwin "Eddie" Dotson came on time and discovered that parts were no longer made. He then searched for replacement parts. He was able to locate them and saved me big bucks (so that additional work did not need to be done.) As a senior citizen on a fixed income this was good news to me. Judy, the receptionist, was very helpful when I called to speak to the general manager, Shaun G. They came out the next day at my convenience. Everything I was told prior to the serviceman coming out was true; there were no surprises.

The work took longer than anticipated because of the complexity of replacing the shut off valve and several of the faucets required a lot of assembly and were difficult to get to.

They always come out and do a good job of cleaning up after themselves. I have been pleased with their installation of equipment. I have been pretty pleased with their service. Their prices are not outrageously expensive.

They have been pretty reliable about coming out. They usually clean up well after they're finished working. They have been reliable. I don't really have anything too bad to say about them.

Hallmark Cooling Plumbing & Heating had done a good job the last time they were here. They are the ones who had done the original wiring as well as install air-conditioning in our house when we built it.

I am pleased with them. When our system broke on a Sunday they came out that afternoon. We were using them for the regular maintenance work. The guy who came out was fantastic and he did the check up and he pointed out real dangerous things that our old guy had never found. There was a 220v wire at the back of our air conditioning unit outside the house that could have burnt out our whole house down. Our heating and air conditioning was old so we wanted to replace it. As we were going out of town they scheduled their appointments around that. They are very professional and matter of fact. They were conscientious. When they installed the new unit there were minor damages like scraped walls here and there which we knew would happen. Overall, we are pleased with them and the system seems to be working well. They rescheduled their appointment ones but that was not a problem for us. We are still on their monthly maintenance program.
