Two workers arrived on time and spent almost 9 hours completing the job. One of the two old heaters was located close to the attic entrance and easily accessible but the other was all the way across the attic and trapped in a web of framing. They got them out with no problem and no mess. Not one drip. Once the new heaters were installed and the water turned back on, an old filter on our ice machine blew out when the water pressure was introduced. I knew it needed to be replaced and had a spare one on hand but had never done the job. They noticed the leaking filter immediately and closed off the valve. They replaced the filter for no additional charge. Overall, very good service and professional staff.
Description of Work: We got three quotes to replace two old 50 gallon water heaters in our attic. Mr. Rooter was the only firm that came out to inspect the situation before quoting giving me more comfort their quote wouldn't contain any surprises. Their quote was competitive so we went with them.

Every thing went very well. I was able to see the defective pipe connection and understand why my drains kept constantly clogging up every so many months. Do ask a lot of questions and do view what caused the problem. I also recommend negotiating the price. Unfortunately. I was in a difficult position. I needed the repair right away and was not able to get more than one estimate. I would recommend getting quotes from several companies before making a decision. But overall, I am happy with the job Mr. Rooter did.
Description of Work: My drains in the bathroom were backing up. I went on Angie's List and found Mr. Rooter. This was the only company that offered 24/7 service. The technician (Joseph) came out and unclogged my drains and as part of their service, he inspected my outside drain with a camera to see if there were any problems (this was the fourth time I have had to call someone out to unclog my drains). He found that part of the drain pipe leading to the main sewage line was not connected properly. He also showed me the problem on the video screen. He explained clearly the different options for fixing the problem. He and his crew came out on 12/08/2011 to replace part of the drain pipe and the connection to the main sewage pipe. The crew arrived late but he was on time. He apologized for the lateness of his crew; they were tied up on another job. They worked all day and finished the job completely. They were all courteous and professional. I was very satisfied with the job. Joseph (Plummer), came back the next day and checked everything . I paid 1/2 prior to the work being done and the other half after the final inspection and my verbal confirmation that I was satisfied with the work. I also received a call from Mr. Rooter the following Monday to check if I was satisfied with their work.

They came the next day to give an official quote after the day of diagnosis. First off, the original plumber that came to diagnose the issue was nice and morally sound. However, the next day when he brought his boss...he was rude about his 'lower employees', which I do not see as professional. I then asked if I should file this with my insurance company, and he 'strongly suggested against it', and I know it's only because he like to be paid faster, as opposed to what is in the best interest of their customer. They quoted 4 days to dig a 6 ft. access hole and fix the pipe under our cement foundation. It took them 6 days, and on the last day, they came to the house at 8:30pm saying it was going to cost $1,000 more. I found this hard to believe that this was a legitimate cost increase because of the fact that during the 6 days of work they did, my insurance company has been pulling teeth to get an itemized quote as to the cost of labor vs. the cost of materials to fix the pipes. I told them we only had $100 left in our account, and we couldn't pay the extra $1,000 until a week from now due to cash flow reasons. They said they needed the money tonight, and not in partial payments. They then asked me to write a check and they 'promised' they wouldn't cash it until 4 days from the day I wrote it. I didn't believe this, and I am smart enough to know that they are not legally bound to cashing the check when they verbally tell me they would. I told them I was not going to write a check when I knew we didn't have the money, because that is fraud. They kept requesting the $1,000 more, but couldn't say what it was for. They finally gave up, took a $2,500 check when I was only suppose to pay $2,397 left (the 2nd and last part of the payment), and left around 9pm on 11/25, the day after Thanksgiving. It's now 12/7, almost Christmas, and they are not cooperating with the insurance company to get them the information they need. The company, Mr. Rooter, has been rude to me ever since they knew I brought my insurance company into this. My insurance company says that Mr. Rooter has to have an itemized quote anyways for tax reasons to run a business, but Mr. Rooter says they can't provide itemized quotes until AFTER the job is done. Now that the job has been done for almost 2 weeks, the 'boss' is out of town, and won't be able to provide a quote until near the end of December. This has been terrible and they have been disrespectful to me as I call for their assistance in getting this broken down quote. I'm not sure how much they scammed me if they can't even identify their own cost of labor vs. cost of materials. I would never use them again. I think they overcharged, and they act like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum fit if you bring your insurance company in to assist in repairs.
Description of Work: We had a toliet overflow, so we called Mr. Rooter on a Saturday. I believe it was November 5th or the 12th. They came that day to examine the issue, and found a busted pipe due to tree roots. An access hole under the foundation was needing to be dug, so that they can repair about 5 ft. worth of piping under the house.

I called Mr. Rooter to come unclog my main sewer pipe from the house to the main line sewer drop on 11/22/2011. After the snake was run through the pipe, the technician then ran a camera through the pipe where the problem was evident, roots and cracks in the PVC. I was given an estimate of $4500 plus for the work. I was also told the soonest they could complete the job was Friday, 11/25/2011. Mr. Rooter did show up at 8:30am on Friday 11/25/2011. The utility companies finished their job marking where all the lines were (electrical, phone, gas and cable) around 10:30am. The 3 man crew did not start digging for almost an hour AFTER the utility crew had finished. Also, not all 3 men were digging - one was sleeping in the van, the other was walking around smoking a cigarette and the third guy, the one that actually dug some, would dig about 5 minutes, and talk for about 10 minutes. I called the company as I was told this job would be completed on Friday. I was assured this problem of the crew would be addressed and the work would be completed Friday even if they have to send out 2 crews - the person that told me this was Amanda. This company did a great job selling me the need for the work, which I did agree needed to be completed. However, from that point forward we had nothing but problems. The company pulled the crew off the job, the other crew showed up 1.5 hours later and their office is less than 7 minutes from my home. Needless to say the work was not completed on Friday nor Saturday. We are hopeful that they will have the work completed on Sunday. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for a plumber if you need this type of work done,. Oh I almost forgot, they did give me a credit for my trouble - $250.00 dollars, how kind of them not to mention the rudeness of their Manager, Warren, when I complained on Saturday about this utter debacle. I assured them I would post my experience on-line, Angie's list etc., and was told "...are you threatening our company?", my response, "Not a threat Sir, a promise". UPDATE: They did not complete their work on my sewer line until Monday, 11/28/2011, even though they assured me this was a one day job. I did recieve a $350.00 credit however, it is not enough for all the hassles when went through with this company. I would not recommed them for any work at all.
Description of Work: They were to replace 62 feet of sewer line from my home to the drop of the main sewer line.

They are excellent. Everything about them is fine. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We have been using the services of Mr. Rooter of Houston for plumbing and drain cleaning for two to three years. They come out once a year and check all my plumbing to make sure that everything is ok. They drained the water heaters a month ago. I pay $95 or $100 for them to come out a couple of times in a year and check.

When I noticed that I could hear water running, even with all faucets & fixtures off, I tracked the problem to a leaky pipe on the riser to the input to the house, just below ground level. After doing some digging I noticed that the old galvanized pipe was disintegrating and had several small leaks. That's when I decided to find a plumber to fix the problem. I researched the plumbers on Angie's List, cross referencing to their ads in the Yellowbook. Mr. Rooter's standard hours were until 9 PM, and they were well reviewed here. I called about 3:30PM and Robert showed up alone about 4:30. When he realized that the entire run from the meter would have to be replaced (galvanized pipe about 38 years old), he gave me a firm quote and made an appointment for the next morning. He came about 10AM with a helper. The two of them finished the job, including testing and cleanup, in about 2 1/2 hours. They had all the necessary parts on the truck and were proficient and professional. As noted in a couple of the earlier reviews, Mr. Rooter's pricing was on the high side - in this case about $300-400 higher than what I was expecting. But they did high quality, efficient work, so I'm satisfied overall. I have a couple of future projects in mind, which I discussed with Robert. He looked through the house and gave me his ideas on the future work, but did not try any hard sell. I would definitely use Mr. Rooter again, especially if Robert would be available to do the work.
Description of Work: Mr. Rooter replaced the 38 year old galvanized pipe from the water meter to the input at the house with 3/4" PVC. This was approximately a 28 foot run, and required digging a trench about 12"-16" deep. At the house they installed a new tee fitting along with a new faucet fixture for the hose and a new ball valve as the main shutoff to the house. The modern 1/4 turn ball valve replaced the original gate valve, which required several full turns to shut the water on or off.

It was real expensive. I wasn't as pleased with them as I thought I would be because the city inspectors had to come out and it took him a while to come out. Then they had a few conflicts but they went ahead and approved it. I had to live with my plumbing for a long weekend. It wasn't real bad and I was still able to use the shower but I couldn't use one of my toilets. They offered to come out and unstop it but it wasn't working that bad where I thought I needed them. To me the project took too long. They also didn't put the sod back on like I wanted it. I've never had it done before but it took too long. The people were nice. I didn't get a second estimate but I thought it was kind of expensive. He came out right away the first time but then I had to wait three days for them to start digging and putting the pipe in. They had one person digging and they had another crew that came and put the pipe in. It took a few days for the other crew to come out and they claimed they were on another job which kind of frustrated me. They kind of misled me when they gave me the estimate because they said there was a five year warranty included where they would come out and check things for free. They didn't total it up and he wasn't very explicit about what the total cost was. The warranty was $299. I have to use them for five years because they will come out and drain the water heater and check the lines.
Description of Work: I used Mr. Rooter to do a complete pipe outside that went to the road because mine was real old and my plumbing kept stopping up.

Overall, I was very pleased. I thought the work would be completed much quicker but Mr. Rooter only sent out one technician so the work went a little bit slower than anticipated. Jef was great to work with and was responsible with the house and made sure to keep things as clean as possible. The holes he made in the sheetrock were quite small and I was pleased about that as well. I had the opportunity to go under the house with Jeff at completion and all looked very organized and insulated. My only complaint would be the time that it took but i can understand considering the location of the pipes. Also, the people that answer their telephones are a bit unknowledgeable about the company being insured and bonded. Which was important to me. Finally, I spoke with Bridget and she was extremely helpful and professional and explained that everything was covered under a 5 year warranty and that the company was in fact licensed and bonded.
Description of Work: My home is from the 1930's and had galvanized pipes that were all underneath the house. VERY difficult to change as it is a tight space under there. I wanted to change out all the pipes under the house and also the pipes that were in the walls as each time the water was turned off from the main line trash in the old pipes would clog the faucets. So I called several companies out to give me an estimate. Mr. Rooter sent Jeff out and he was professional and came on time and called me the following day to give me an estimate. I decided to go with Mr. Rooter as their price was mid range and they offered a 5 year warranty and would work with aquapex - a piping that expanded if it were to freeze thus eliminating a great deal of stress during the winters.

I have used them in the past. The estimate was over a $1000. It was for about six things, replacing some taps, valves and things like that. They are really courteous and clean. They always make sure that they don't make a mess and they are hilarious plumbers because they charge so much for everything. They walk in the door it seems like it's a $100, but I've been pleased with them and they were recommended to me by a friend...so far so good. I would use them in the future.

Mr. Rooter was prompt and professional. We called because we couldn't get one of our water heaters to light. We also needed to have the two pressure regulators replaced, so we got them to do that while they were here. They were able to light the water heater. They did not charge us for that. The price for the pressure regulators was a little higher than we had been quoted by another provider. However, they were on the spot, so they got the work. The two technicians did a good job and were very nice.

Our plumber, Nathan, arrived in less than an hour from our phone call. Our faucet valves were an older type (parts not readily available in hardware stores). He was very quick, friendly and professional. He did an excellent job.

It went great. Initially I was going to have one of the big-box home improvement stores send their contractor out. That person apparently did not want to do the job, since he basically said it couldn't be done... At any rate, I sent that guy packing, and called Mr Rooter, whom I have used in the past, and will use again. The plumber pointed out all of the challenges with the job, and wrote up a detailed quote, then got after it the same day. It took a little longer than planned, but these things happened. I will definitely use Mr Rooter again for any plumbing needs. They are not be the cheapest company around, but they are very professional and easy to work with.
Description of Work: They replaced my 32 year old gas water heater, ran new drainage lines, new exhaust vent lines, and re-oriented the unit. Approximately one-third to one-half the cost was for moving the unit.

Very courteous workers, from the employees in the office to the plumbers sent out. Great at explaining what the problems were and how they were going to be corrected. Cleaned up after the job and took precautions to not cause any dirty or grime in any area of the house. Would highly recommend. Excellent work performed, will definitely call back for any future plumbing problems.

Water heater was in my attic and 16 years old. The original was corrosive and near stage of leaking. I considered moving the unit into the garage but salesman talked me out of it due to expense of finding new lines, venting, etc. The only access to my attic is a pull-down set of stairs with very tight openings to get through for removal of old unit. Two men handled the job, bagged the old unit which weighed approximately 400lbs and managed to get it out of the attic (still dont know how they managed it) and installed the new unit. The only problem encountered was them pulling and breaking a satellite cable that was in their way upon removal of the old water heater. I was impressed with their efficiency and kindness in regards to damaging the cable. They installed a new Bradford-White water heater and the job took less than two hours to complete. I felt the price was a little high but worth my piece of mind.
