Mr. Rooter unethically dishonest the technician michael and his assistant had come to repair the main valve as well as a leakage due to a faulty toilet pump. the toilet pump valve needed to be replaced. michael asked me if they could come back after the part (under warranty) had arrived. we told them that our contractor could do the replacement. michael told me that the replacement part had been ordered. I was a bit surprised as of how quick the part was ordered (within a few minutes), but thought maybe he had inside connections to do that much quicker than I could. after waiting for almost 4 weeks, the part never came. I contacted customer service via email. sharon responded and told me that michael had ordered the part again. it would be delivered to their office, and they asked me again if they could come out for installation. I told them that wouldn’t be needed as our contractor would be doing that. I asked them to let me know when the part had arrived, so that our contractor could go to their office to pick it up. after waiting for 3 weeks, the part still never came. I contacted sharon again. she said that the order had been shipped to our house. what? they told me earlier that it had been ordered and would be shipped to their office. now it had been shipped to our house? notice how the story had changed? sharon’s last email to me was on may 15th. I had contacted her twice (on may 18th and may 22nd) asking for the part number so that I could contact the manufacturer. we had to figure out the part number (which was the main reason why we contacted Mr. Rooter’s customer service in the first place), and contacted the manufacturer. they said that they never got any request to send a replacement part to our home address. it was when I realized that michael had never ordered the part in the first place. it is because we had declined for them to come back again for the installation, thus no reason for them to order the part. we are beyond disgusted that we had to wait more than 2 months for a part that never came. and with their empty promises of having ordered the part. to us, that was unethically dishonest (because we had declined their offer to come over to do the part replacement). they could have given us the part number and asked us to make an order ourselves instead of waiting for nothing.

Our kitchen sink was severely clogged. Someone put too much food down the disposal, and it backed up the disposal and the connected sink. We tried our own hand-held snake, as well as Draino and Liquid Plumber to Yes avail. Our technician arrived right on time and took care of the clog while I ran out to pick up my son from school. I didn't worry about leaving him there and found the job completed when I returned 30 minutes later. It has stayed clear and the cost was very reasonable.

Came on on a Sunday (Father's Day) and fixed the problem for $250 by snaking the drain. It was difficult to get the snake to turn down the drainpipe instead to going straight through to the other sink. (I tried this myself with a hand snake several times and failed!) He first proposed to get at if from the attic but that wasn't possible; don't know if that would have been more or less $. The guy Gavin was very nice and professional and was able to fix the problem quickly. This company was recommended by someone in the neighborhood. I was down on them because they wanted $273 to install a garbage disposal and they won't tell you that over the phone (Home Depot Install was $109). But this was a good experience on a Sunday so my attitude toward them has greatly improved.

The company was initially responsive. Came out quickly and made a quote of $6850, to my mother, who trusted them immediately. She is a git-her-done kind of gal and does not tend to want to wait for additional estimates. So she signed their estimate and they began the work. About two days in they discovered the need to replace 20 feet of sewer. They did not present a written quote on the additional work, just mentioned the additional work in passing. My mother had the impression that the total cost for the work would increase about $500. The weather was poor, so understandably the work was delayed, however, they did not keep my mother abreast of accurate arrival times, occasionally not showing or showing late. Upon completion of the work, after they left, it was noted that the cleanout was sticking up 7 inches or more out of the ground. The total bill for the work was $14,395.43. Several plumbers, when presented the scenario over the phone, quoted an estimated cost of $1300 to $3,000 for the work. I have contacted Mr. Rooter to discuss my mother's bill and their apparent policy of taking advantage of senior citizens as well as to register our complaint about the cleanout. They indicated that they would send someone out today to deal with sinking the cleanout into the concrete. And said that they would have someone contact me today to discuss the pricing. I sure do hope they come through. Whether they do or not, please be aware, with Mr. Rooter, you need to get other estimates from other companies to ensure that they are in line with what is appropriate. I will keep you posted.
Description of Work: This work was being done for my 81 year old mother. They repaired drain problem in powder room toilet. Initial plan was to trench into the powder room from outside, five feet in, and repair drain. This also entailed breaking up 3 feet of sidewalk to get under the house. After beginning work, they found that the sewer line was clogged with roots and needed replacing. So they added 20 feet of sewer line replacement to job list.

They showed up earlier than expected bc they had a schedule change and asked me if they could come sooner. He did the job and "enrolled" my son's help (which he loved). He wiped up the excess water and the old standing water that was under there. He used a magic eraser to clean the floor then put the ring in put the toilet back and put a bead/seal around the toilet that looks way WAY better than any bead i've ever seen my wonderful do;) Gave us a military discount too.

We were fortunate that this company could come out within a couple of hours. The sink that the A/C drains to was completely blocked and filling with water from the unit in the attic. Previous attempts by another company to clear the blockage with compressed air proved insufficient so a snake was employed. Within half an hour the clog was cleared and the Tech added a bio chem to the cleanout in the attic to coat the entire drain as a finishing touch. We were left with the bottle and instructed in how to use the agent as a preventative measure going forward. The price seemed only a little high however their immediate availability made it worth while. The Tech was very professional and answered all our question, he also did a thorough job of cleaning up upon completion of work. I would use this company again and recommend it others.

Very well. Technicians were prompt and effective. Recommended doing waterjet treatment to clear grease that could not be cleared by the snake. Allowed me to credit the amount already paid for that drain toward the waterjet treatment. I would use again and would recommend.

It went fine but did reveal that sags in our sewer line are causing water and debris to pool and not move through to the main entrance to the city system. Cost to completely replace the sewer line was estimated to be quite costly - in excess of $10,000.

They may have changed, but we called them out probably 7-8 years ago to install a garbage disposal. The basic charge was $49 to just look at the job, and if they did the job then the $49 would be credited to the job. They proposed an estimate that was 3 times what the service charge that Sears proposed if we bought their disposal. If I recall correctly Mr.Router's estimate it was something like $280. We told him no and wrote a check for $49. Before the plumber left he continued to try and bargain, first a discount, then if you sign a service contract it would be even less. My wife told him to leave. We found someone to do it for less than half of Mr Router's estimate. Things may have changed but I won't use them, ever.

Contacted Mr. Rooter. Receptionist was very polite. Took all my information. Said a tech would be available in a couple of hours. Called me back to let me know who would be coming to my house with a time period of 45 minutes. Service Tech came, I explained situation to him. He then quoted me a price before he started the job. He used his inline camera to find where the sewer line was plugged. He then used his roto rooter machine to unplug the sewer line. He worked diligently until the line was clean and flowing good. He then showed me the inside of the line using the camera again. The service tech was very knowledgeable and knew how to use the equipment. I was able to use a $50 coupon I printed from their website. I would use this company again.

Matt was very courteous and came in and removed our old toilet and replaced it with a new one. He was in and out in about an hours time and we have not had any problems since the new install. We appreciate the quick service and thorough job! Matt is a great asset to Mr. Rooter!
Description of Work: Our master bathroom toilet was original to our home (25 years old) and was not flusing properly. We were having to flush twice some of the time. Needed installation of my washer and dryer. First off, the technician showed up way outside of the 4 hour time range. Secondly, when he got here he was pretty useless in terms of actually doing any installation. He hooked the washer up incorrectly so it was leaking. Had to call a local plumber the next day and he actually did the job correctly for less money.

Since no one from Mr. Rooter returned my calls, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Texas Plumbers Examiners and I also submitted a report to channel 11 news consumer investigators. I finally got word that they would be sending their supervisor out and he came out and said that the technician used a different cable and it got stuck because the cable that is in there is from a preexisting issue. He called me back the next day and said as a courtesy they would use a retrieval machine that they know will not work and then they want to charge me for having to dig a hole and cut the pipe to remove the cable. I declined their solution and I'm following through with my complaint.
Description of Work: When Mr. Rooter came out to fix a backed up bathtub/toilet not working properly issue, the technician used a thick cable that was about 1/2" thick in the overflow drain. He got it stuck and had to use a tool to cut it off. He said he was able to remove the entire cable, but he did not. In May 2012 we had a different plumber come out (since we were still having the same issue) and he ran a camera that showed that the cable Mr. Rooter got stuck and cut off was still stuck in the plumbing lines. I contacted Mr. Rooter directly and was never able to talk to the owner. Only a manager called me back one time and said she would contact the owner and the technician...I never received a call back. No one ever contacted me.

******This is the final update. ******* The Mr. Rooter refunded $120 before the date I requested in response to my letter addressed to the owner of the company. I'm sure Mr. Rooter does good jobs majority or the times. I also understand that everybody makes mistakes every now and then and I'm ok with that. What I care about is how companies handle them. The Owner of Mr. Rooter listened to my complaint and handled it appropriately and professionally. He resolved the issue in a satisfactory manner. ******I have further update. ****** I hired the A/C repair person to resolve noise issue which Mr. Rooter could not. First thing he noticed was the overflow pan filled with water again under the unit. It is strange because Mr. Rooter claimed that they at least unclogged the condensation line and I paid $120 for it. A/C person checked if condensation water is draining down to the Restroom sink drain where the condensation line is connected to. There is no condensation water coming down. So he flushed the line again with his equipment, then the water started to come down. In short, Mr. Rooter did not even unclog the drain line. As for the noise, A/C person determined that the noise was caused by the air in the pipe making turbulence inside. So he proposed to install a trap in the condensation line near the A/C unit. He came back the next day. We check the pan and it was drying out. So the condensation line is working. He installed the trap. Then the noise went away! I had another unit which had the exactly same problem. A/C person fixed that unit too on the same day. He charged me $200 for both service. In summary, Mr. Rooter’s technician could not figure out the noise problem or how to fix it. He claimed that he at least unclogged the condensation drain pipe. It turned out that he did not fix that problem either. He did not even verify that condensation water was draining down or not. He charged me $342.88 (later reduced to $120 by talking to the owner.). The A/C repair person unclogged the drain line which Mr. Rooter had failed to do, then correctly diagnosed the noise problem and fixed the problem too. He charged $100 for the service per unit. I will ask Mr. Rooter to refund $120 for the deficient service they performed. I will report back. ***This is an update from my original review.*** The owner of the company called me back. After two phone conversations, we have reached to an agreeable resolution. Mr. Rooter charges me $120, the quoted amount by the A/C repair person for the task Mr. Rooter performed. I saw credit of $222.88 posted to my credit card account. So this issue has been resolved. -Original Review- I requested to solve noise problem coming from lavatory sink drain. The technician determined that noise was due to clogged A/C condensation main line and the water was draining to the secondary drain which was connected to the lavatory sink drain. I had $120 quote from my A/C repair person to unclog the condensation line, however the technician insisted that A/C person could not perform cleaning of the P-trap at the sink. Since I did not wish to spend any more time, I told him to do the work. He said that he performed the work, however he said that the noise did not go away. I told him that I could not pay unless he resolve the issue I had asked him to come over. Now he said that this was A/C problem and I needed to call a/c repair company, and there was nothing he could do. He also said that payment went through, even though I did not see him swipe my credit card. He charged $342.88 for about 1 hour of work which did not solve my problem. I called back the main office. Supervised told me that the technician's field supervisor would call me back the next day. Nobody called back. I called back again to complain. Person answered my phone told me that she left a note for the field supervised again to call me back. I am still waiting to hear back from the field supervisor.
Description of Work: I asked to resolve noise problem from lavatory sink drain. The technician diagnosed incorrectly and performed tasks that did not solve the noise problem. In the end, the technician said that this was A/C problem and he could do nothing about it. They charged full amount. In the end, the issue has been resolved in a satisfactory manner. Please read below for the details.

Joe and his assistant were excellent, and Mr. Rooter has a new loyal customer.
Description of Work: Water Heater Repair / Replacement - After several bad experiences with John Moore, I decided to try Mr Rooter, who I have had used before for some clogged drains. I’ve had problems with my water heater 3 times over the past month, and John Moore twice missed appointments, and the quote I received, I wasn’t comfortable with, and I felt I just couldn’t trust them after missing 2 appointments. Mr. Rooter was out within 3 hours of my call on Saturday, I explained the history of the water heater, and the technician, Joe Pettigrew, explained my options. We both agreed replacing the water heater was the best option, and the price he quoted me was $250 less than John Moore. I agreed to the work, and Joe and another tech, immediately begin working, removing the unit, and installing a new one. They laid down tarps to protect my floors, were clean, courteous, and very professional. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I only wish I had called them first.

I called Mr. Rooter at 8pm and ask if they could get someone out. They arrived 1 hour later. Could not fix that evening, but did return today to complete. They plugged off the leak last night so we could have water for all household functions. Juan was great and very helpful. His prices were very good for the work needed. He showed me everything he needed to do and why he needed to return the next day. I will use them again and would recommend them to anyone who has an emergency plumbing issue.
Description of Work: I had a leak develop at 530 pm. No one could get to me and we were without water.
