Since no one ever responded to my 3 calls the overall experience was a complete failure.

The owner came by and gave an estimate in a timely manner after first contact. His estimate was accepted and within a week his techs arrived to perform the job. They showed professionalism and completed the jog in a day and a half. They meticulously cleaned up after themselves.

I took a half a day vacation so I could meet him. After he didn't show up, I called him, and he said he would have someone else get back to me. They never got back to me. It was upsetting. I would never use him again.

I called in, left a message, and Winston called me back the same day. He set up a time to come by and give me an estimate a few days later. When that time arrived, he was there! He took a look at the work to be done and gave me an estimate on the spot. Since it was such a small job ($280), he said he'd give me a written estimate if I wanted one. Normally, I might have said yes, but since JQ had also been referred to me as a good company by a contractor friend (after I'd already found them on Angie's List), I figured I'd just trust that they'd do the work as promised without the quote in writing. I knew the price for the work was reasonable and fair, especially since I'd already had one masonry contractor I found on Angie's List give me a quote of $550, a large portion of which he said would involve the time needed to build his scaffold to do the work. That seemed like way too much for the size and scope of the job and, sure enough, JQ was able to do a really fine job for a little more than half the price of the first contractor. Winston had given me an approximate day that they'd be able to do the work (Friday) and he called me that morning to say his men could be there that afternoon to do the job. Three men showed up mid-afternoon and, though I wasn't there, my brother-in-law who was visiting from out-of-town, observed the men's work. All told, it took less than two hours and my brother-in-law said that at one point all three men were up on ladders working on the chimney at the same time. He said they worked well as a team and the job was easily accomplished by these experienced masons without the need (or cost) of building a scaffold. When I returned home, the work was completed and the site was meticulously cleaned up. The chimney looked great and as if no damage had ever been done. The only thing the men didn't do was re-attach the lightning rod that had protruded from the chimney, but had fallen down during the storm. Perhaps they didn't know that they were supposed to do that, but it's okay and something that I can easily do myself at some point. I won't take away from the fine rating I'm giving JQ for the job, though I had mentioned the lightning rod to Winston and thought I understood him to say they'd take care of it. Not a big deal. Overall, JQ did a really good job and would not hesitate to use them again. They are reasonably priced and proficient in their trade.

It didn't go at all since they never called back to do the job.

I was given an estimate within one hour of calling. The work was started and finished three days later. The crew did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. My chimney looks new.I'm happy.

We got them from Angie's List. The service was excellent. He was very responsive. His price was very competitive. He did the work in a timely manner. He did a really nice job. We highly recommend him.

Excellent work. Mortar color was matched so well that the area worked on looked the same as the rest of the brick. Showed up on time and cleaned up at the end of the day.

I had a 12:00 appointment, they didn't come until 5:00. I had to call around 2:00 and he told me that he forgot. He kept giving excuses about his truck breaking down or his truck being towed. I had asked for estimates about everything and he never sent me those estimates. I will not call them at all. After 3 weeks I never received anything. I hated that they made me wait 5hrs.

Very good experience, with excellent responsiveness for my estimate and a reasonable time between accepting the estimate and having the work done. It was not necessary that I be home for the repair, but it turned out that I was just by chance. J Q Brick's personnel were very professional, walked the house before and after to be sure that all repairs were identified and completed. The mortar match is excellent. If I did not know there were repairs I would not know. I would recommend this company and will use them again if the need arises.

Jose Quintero is very professional and easy to work with - he was quick to make time for my project estimate - and his work was excellent. I saved $50 thanks to Angie's List.

Rebuilt the steps with bricks that were a fairly close match but not what I was happy with. But due the time quickness the job was performed I didn't have time to review. The job initially looked good but on closer inspection the knee which is like and like and L and should be 90 degrees was actually 85 degrees. I spoke with the owner Winston and even offered to pay additional to get it right. As I hoped he indicated that wouldn't be necessary but never came back to do the work.

Fixed the crack and you can barely tell where it was.

I initially called a contractor, at the suggestion of my decorator when I told her that I was concerned about some cracks in my brick and brick expansion joints. He brought Jose (who was driving a J. Q. Brick truck) with him to look at the job. Jose felt that I mainly had settlement inssues from the extremely hot summer, not a serious foundation problem. He of course agreed that the cracks and expansion joints needed repair. I realize that Jose is not a foundation expert, but am sure due to his line of work has seen a lot of houses with foundation issues. Since the estimate submitted was under the name of the contractor, I'm not exactly sure what Jose charged him for the job. However, the price I paid the contractor was $685.00. I would guess that this is most likely somewhat more tthan what I would have been charged had I contacted the company directly. The estimate was to repair the expansion joints, two major cracks, and two corners, plus any other necessary tuck pointing. Since I was concerned about the fact that the expansion joints in one or two places were open to the extent you can see the house wrap, I was concerned that if we got any further rain that it could cause even more damage. Therefore, I decided to go ahead and get the brick repair done, even though I still plan to have a couple of foundation companies look at the house. (When I called,most of them were scheduled about a month or more out for just doing estimates.)Two men arrived to do the job promptly about 8:00 on Friday, as scheduled. Since they were in a truck identified as J. Q. Brick I am fairly certain that they were employees of J. Q. Brick and not the contractor. I pointed out the problem areas to them and they went to work. In all I would estimate they were there between three to three and a half hours. They removed the caulk and replaced it in five expansion joints. They fixed the two major cracks and several smaller ones -- several of which I had not even noticed. They also repaired the two corners. The repaired cracks blend very well color wise with the existing mortar and brick. In fact, if I didn't know where they were located I am not sure that I would realize that they were there. Any mess that was created by the rapair process was removed and everything left neat. If I have any need for future brick repair I will definitely contact J. Q. Brick directly.

Called office to request an estimate. Alex called back within a half hour and we set up a time that was mutually agreeable on that same day. He came out, looked at the entire house, and we discussed what needed to be done and he gave me a price for the work . We set a date for the work to be done. He came out with 2 men on the date we set up, and told them what to do. They did an excellent job, and I even found a few additional problems which they attended to.Did the work efficiently and cleaned up very nicely. I was very satisfied

It went very well .... no problems....they cleaned up when done.... I trust that they went over the area and looked for more spots and did them. This was at the top of the house so it was hard to see in some places from the ground.

Work went very well and as this was a small job there was a fixed price . The work was done very quickly and the workers repointed several bricks to ensure the cement matched the color and all bricks around the column were firmly reset. A small job but I would use this company for more extensive work given their quick response and quick repair service

Company came out and gave me an estimate, I had the work done approx 6 weeks later. Same estimate still applied the work was done to our satisfaction and the company was a pleasure to deal with. I would rcommend this company to anyone needing masonary repairs

They arrived at the promised time. Began the job immediately and finished faster than I thought. The price was as quoted. Left the property clean of litter.

They came out and gave me the quote very quickly. He came out the same day. He was professional. I’d used them last year. I would use their services again in the future.

The job went great. They removed the damaged brick and replaced them with some leftover bricks we had from construction. THe process went smooth and the job was done to our satisfaction.

It went well. He came out quickly, and the job was done within a week. The workers were efficient, did a good job, and they cleaned up once they finished.

The results were so good, the former problems were totally invisible. He above and beyond what we thought would be done. We live in a historic house, and he paid a great attention to detail. You really can't even tell it was worked on. He did wonderful work, and he cleaned up really well.

As mentioned earlier, my chimney was hit by lightning that damaged one side of the chimney as well as the flue pipe inside. JQ Brick Repairs' prices were very competitive and they did exactly what they said they would. Since the damage was on the side of the chimney that was not visible from the ground, I gave the workers my camera and they took several pictures at different stages of the repair so I could see the progress of the work being done. The workers were very polite, cooperative and most of all, knew exactly what they had to do. The owner, Winston is a very intelligent person, knows his business very well. They can repair or replace damaged bricks in such a way that after they are done you cannot even tell where the damage was. I would definetly hire them again.

He did a great job. He knew what he was doing. He could tell where the builder had taken out some bricks because they forgot our address plaque and we had forgotten about that. He was very knowledgeable and his prices were fair. He was on time. He did come a week later than originally scheduled but he called.
