I contacted Jq Brick after noticing my expansion joints were deteriorating on the side and front of my 3 story midtown home. Jorge did a onsite visit on a Wednesday while I was at work, and the next day i had the estimate. The work was scheduled for the following Monday, His team did a great job, looks like new. The office was great to work with and Jorge was very responsive.

JQ brick repair was out the same day I requested the quote. They took care of all of the brick issues on my 1979 house. There was a patch of about 10 bricks that the bricks were completely loose with no mortar. There were cracks all the way from the base to the top of the house and they were repaired with new matching mortar that looks great. They secured the two all brick walls because they were sagging. You can't tell where the repair mortar was placed, unlike many other houses in the neighborhood whose repair mortar stands out. They were fast, professional, and did a wonderful job exactly to what I needed and it looks great.

The crew arrived when during the scheduled time. The work began and they finished the work in a couple of hours. I was very please that you could not see that the mortar had been repaired. Looked great. Will recommend to others.

The crew arrived early every day with the exception of rain days. They worked hard all day and in the end, you can not tell the difference between my house and the finished cabana. It was a most excellent job and I am ecstatic with the results. I only really had a choice between two companies that could do what was required and I am really happy I chose this one.

[Full Disclosure: we marked all of the areas with blue painter's tape before he came.] The technicians did an excellent job repairing cracks caused by Houston's infamous "settling" problems from its clay soil. We were especially delighted with the mortar color match. We have seen many "repaired" walls around town that definitely look as if they have been repaired as the new mortar does not match the existing mortar. The technicians did a thorough final clean up. Provided clear communications to me and worked well with TIN MAN SHEEL METAL to complete the job professionally. The faux stone chimney looks better than it did before. I am completely happy with JQ Brick's services.

Very nice and professional, arrived when he said he would, told me he would get back with me the next day. I did have to call him but not a big deal. I thought his price was high but I'm still waiting on other bids to compare.

It went very well. They came out and gave me an estimate and sent proposal. I accepted the proposal and we set up a time frame. They were able to call me a few days earlier than expected to tell me they had a job cancelled and could come that day if it was alright with me. They sent out two men, who were very professional and were able to finish it in one day. When they finished I walked around the house with them and checked everything. Then the supervisor (the man who gave me the estimate) came to the house and inspected it too, before I gave him the payment. The work is guaranteed for a year.

When my Gardner mowed the lawn, he hit one of the corners of my foundation which removed a large piece of mortar and concrete. I immediately checked Angie's list and selected J.,Q. Brick to do the work. Someone came out to checked what needed to be done and gave me an estimate. The job was not very large, but I was informed that the minimum charge would be $280.00 which I thought was expensive. Rigo, who came out was very punctual and checked the entire foundation to see if any other areas need patching. There was only one other area which needed minor mortar and he added this to the list of repairs. I received a proposal via email for the work and cost. After accepting, two workers came out the following week to take care of the repair. They were prompt and did an excellent job.

I was amazed. There is no evidence that the crack was even there. We were very pleased with the outcome and would definitely hire them to do any other jobs we might have. Excellent work!

Settng up the appointment was very easy. One phone call to JQ, a visit by Winston their rep, an email price proposal, followed up with several emails and/or text messages setting up the appointment. Fireplace looks new. Outside mortar cracks were perfectly blended in with the existing mortar. Crew of three was here less than three hours. Cleaned up after themselves very well. I would use them again.

I had to remove a 5" x 10" front door intercom and replace the hole this created with a few bricks. I had also had a kitchen window moved about 10 ft as part of a large remodeling project that included the kitchen. About 30 new bricks that were installed were a different color than the original brick. The remodeling contractor was very late (nine months rather than the originally quoted 3 months) and the quality of his work was so poor that I didn't want him to do anything else. So I called JQ Brick. They charged their minimum price and installed the brick by the front door and stained the new mismatching brick. Bottom line... I can't tell which brick was new and which was stained. They all look as though they were installed as part of the original construction. Great work.

Scheduling was excellent - very prompt. Product was excellent. He did a nice job at a reasonable price.

1) Instead of properly repointing the brickwork on my house as stated in the quote, the workers with JQ Brick just filled in large cracks between bricks with mortar and then painted the mortar to make it *look* like it had been repointed. The paint obviously doesn't last as it rubs off on your fingers just by brushing against it. I was shocked at the ridiculous results. The quote specifically stated they would repoint the brick and they did not do anything of the such. 2) The garage wall that was rebuilt using two different colors of mortar. On the first day, the first half of the garage wall was rebuilt with one mortar color. The next day the rest of the garage wall was build ... with a distinctly different shade of mortar color. They installed all new mortar, but they used *two* different colors of mortar half way through the job. A light color mortar was used on the top half and a darker color mortar on the bottom half. 3) On the garage wall, there were two window sills that were rebuilt with that same wall and would you guess that they were the same? Nope. The lower window sill just out a full 1-2 inches further than the upper window sill. 4) The sides of the wall? Did they match? Not at all. There are two wings on the top corners of the wall. These wings are very simple graduated step edges and they were to match the exact same corner mirrored on the back wall. Each brick is supposed to overhang the brick below in an even constant offset just like the original wall, just like the rear garage wall that was not being rebuilt. Not only did the stepped wings on the rebuilt wall not match the original rear wall, but the two stepped wings on rebuilt front wall didn't match either. The left top corner stepped wing doesn't even match the opposing stepped wing on the right top corner. They built two stepped wings on the same wall and didn't bother to make them match. I couldn't believe the sloppy workmanship. 5) When I pointed out these very obvious flaws to the owner, Jose Quintero, he defended his guys for several days. It was really uncomfortable and awkward. He was very argumentative about it all and constantly claimed that I was just being picky and difficult. I refused to pay the balance remaining of over $2,000 until the problems were rectified. He went through various phases of anger with me. In the end I had to ask him straight out if he was proud enough of his work at my house to bring prospective customers to show them his "quality" workmanship. To that question he *finally* admitted that he would never want to show his work at my house to any prospective customers. He finally admitted that the work was absolutely not representative of a job well done. It was clearly not a job to be proud of. He admitted that they installed two very different mortar colors on the rebuilt wall. He admitted that the stepped wing on the top left didn't match the stepped wing on the top right let alone the original stepped wings on the rear wall. He finally agreed to take half off the balance because of all the errors in workmanship. These problems are indicative of work farmed out to poorly supervised cheap hourly labor. If anyone would like to view the work left by JQ Brick, feel free to drop by and I would be happy to help you avoid the same problems. I've slowly been having the work done by JQ Brick ripped out and rebuilt properly by master bricklayers. However, there are still some areas left to fix, so there are still some clear examples of the poor workmanship that I am still working to replace by proper repointing work.

They did not perform any work

I couldn't be more pleased with the work they did on our house. We removed a sliding door with a regular door and needed to fill in the hole with brick. It was hard for them to find brick that matched because the type of brick is rare and older. They ended up finding something so similar that you can hardly tell the difference. The men who installed the new brick were very professional and perfectionists and did such an amazing job.

They did a great job. They came for the estimate, showed up on time, and did exactly what they said they would do. They knew exactly what they were doing and I felt confident in their abilities. They were a little expensive but they tried their hardest to do exactly what I wanted, which is hard to find. They stuck with what I wanted but still did needed to be done.

They did an outstanding job - they matched the mortar color so closely I can not tell where they made repairs - except that before there were cracks and now I can not see any. Very high quality workmanship and very reasonable cost for the amount of work done.

Work was phenomenal. You could not see where the cracks had been. Only goods things to say about there work.

I had a very apparent crack in chimney, mortar that needed to be redone, and a previous bad mortar job that someone else had done that needed to be color matched on the brick. They did a great job. I would recommend.

The reset bricks all looked great. Repairs to the cracks were done flawlessley. They matched the existing mortar and that will make it difficult for any home inspector to recognize that there were repairs done. They even noted one crack along the top of several windows - at the lintel - that we didn't necessarily ask them to repair. They did it within their scope of work which I think was fantastic.
