Description of Work: This company was sent to my house for warranty work on the salt cell system, we were informed after they came that we would be responsible for labor of $105 service call if they don't fix it. Took 40 minutes and charged $145! Better off calling leslies!

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way about the charge for the job we did for you. Our records show the customer was notified prior to the service call that there would be a labor charge due to the fact that the warranty on salt cells includes materials only. Additionally, when we got out to the job site the first for the salt cell, we found that the main circuit board was bad as well. Due to it requiring a trip to get parts for the circuit board, there was a trip charge attached to the job. At the time the customer paid there was no complaint about the charge.

Description of Work: The owner showed up and was extremely detailed on what the issue could possibly be prior to opening up the pool heater. He explained each scenario and what it would cost. Since he was running a little late, I was called up the office and informed about the delay and asked if it was okay to still show up or if I would prefer a more convenient time. They were extremely porfessional and I would definitely recommend H2Oasis Pools.

Horrible contractor with extremely questionable business practices. Contractor was initially called out to fix an air and water leak in my pool in Jan 2014. Each time I spoke to the contractor there was a 'compound' failure with my system. I placed a lot of trust in the contractor initially and relied on his expertise however the costs continued to mount up. The leak test became a deck repair which then became a pool pump repair. The water seemed to be fixed but there was still air in the system. The price started at $350 and finished up at $1,500+. At no time was I ever shown any evidence of the 'leaks' (1st dubious practice) and every time something needed added there was never a quote in writing (2nd dubious practice). In April 2014 my pool started leaking water again so in the belief that I had the same 90 day warranty given by the service provider's competitor I (regrettably) called out this contractor again. Yet again from the initial price to the final price the costs simply compounded. This time the 'leak' was on the other skimmer (naturally). i was informed by the tech that the cost would be the same as before ( 3rd dubious practice - if its only quoted over the phone that quote can change). AS was becoming usual the leak wasn't a simple leak but now required a complete skimmer repair. (4th dubious practice - go for the kill). I was outraged that yet again a straightforward repair was beginning to mount into another 1,500+ repair. I was still never shown any evidence of the repair. My option again given over the phone was that if I didn't replace the skimmer the pool leak would not be fixed, there would be no warranty and I would have to pay to have the deck broken out again. Needless to say I was given no choice at all. I began to question the charges and thats when things turned downright ugly. In the previous job in Jan I was given an invoice at the end of the work which was then paid in full. I used the contractors own credit card form by which the contractor was the one who applied for payment from my credit card company. The repair that was supposed to take 2 days was now into its 3rd week and was not yet finished yet I was sent an invoice requesting full payment for all work completed. I refused and advised that as per the previous job I would pay when the work was done. The contractor advised me that due to previous problems with payment from the work in January he needed payment before he finished the job. ( 5th dubious practice - make up any fabrication to suit your argument). It turns out that in january payment as per the invoice was due on 24th Jan. (this was a friday). Payment was made on 27th Jan (the Monday) in the full amount. Remember this was the contractors form which I had completed. As Contractor predicted he refused to finish the work until I paid him (6th dubious practice - hold the customer to ransom). He left my pool looking like a building site with 2 trip hazards just in time for the memorial day holiday weekend. It took 10 days for him to come and remove his equipment and 3 weeks before the trip hazards were removed. I was left with no option other than to pay for all work completed (even though it wasn't) then wait for the contractor to finish the deck repair. Incidentally the reason I had refused to pay initially was due to the fact there was still a leak in the system even though the job as to fix the leak. David's response - the leak was "less worse" than when we started but that for more money he would continue to 'try' and find the leak (7th dubious practice - price gouge the customer). My normal position with a repair contractor is that he gets paid to fix it not to make it "less worse"). I advised David that I had relied on his representation that he was an expert professional only to be told that leak detection was nothing more than an educated guess (8th dubious practice - its never your fault if you can get the customer to keep paying). In the end I was held to ransom for a job that was supposed to take 2 days and finally finished almost 6 weeks later. David commits nothing to writing which allows him to quote any price he wants . e.g. His tech quoted me $695 for the deck repair, his office assistant quoted me the same price ($695) however David told me the price was $750. Similarly when David is questioned he starts making things up to suit his argument - I was a bad payer apparently even though it was Davids credit card system that I followed. He will change pricing and even pre-date invoices to support his argument. The best though is yet to come - Despite having spent $2,500+ with this 'professional' I do not have one single piece of equipment that he installed (and there were many - see 7th dubious practice) under any form of warranty. (9th dubious practice - always give a disclaimer about the chlorine). So after $2,500+ spent with this contractor I still have a leak in my pool although I am supposed to be grateful that it is only less-worse than before; I have no warranty whatsoever since pools use chlorine; my holiday weekend was ruined; I was held to ransom; and when finally my deck was repaired it looks as amateurish as the company responsible for overseeing its completion. Awful company, questionable individual; and very dubious business conduct. I have shared my experience of this contractor on my local neighborhood website and can only hope that anyone reading this goes to the next contractor listed on Angies List. If you are foolhardy enough to try this individual get everything in writing up front and then chances are David will be too busy to make your appointment. Update: Thanks for the response David. I still retain all correspondence and photos of the state of my pool and will gladly issue you a challenge to highlight anywhere in my text did I state anything that was incorrect. Stating that you would continue the leak detection at no additional cost is deceitful as I have e-mails from you stating the exact opposite. Please advise all of the other potential customers if my comments on warranty are valid or not. You issued a disclaimer on every single item of work you performed. I currently have no issue with any of the items you state below until they break whereupon I have no warranty from the dubious contractor who installed them. As to the timing of the review I really couldn't do anything else as you were holding me to ransom and refusing to finish the job and as a concerned member of my neighborhood I simply wanted others to be aware that you are far from the professional company you claim to be. Predating invoices, changing pricing, issuing ultimatums that you would remove the equipment you installed if you weren't paid in full is not in any way the action of a professional and more importantly all of these questionable practices are recorded in e-mail format. Incidentally I had no issue with a previous leak detection company, you happened to be closer and regretfully I chose to engage your services. It is a regret I will not be repeating.

Response from H2Oasis Pools Llc
The customer contacted us after having problems with the previous leak detection company. Now I believe that this may be a recurring trend for this customer. The leak detection was $350, which at the end was refunded to him due to his dissatisfaction, and prior to this review that he has published. He didn't publish this very inaccurate account of the work completed until we had finished the work and substantially discounted his invoice, despite his approval and completion of all work he had approved. We have emails and texts to corroborate this. The work completed was not just leak detection and repair but also parts replacement, pump repair, and filter valve replacement. None of these items the customer has issue with. All prices for repair to equipment and pool lines were given to him as estimates because we never know for sure what problems we will run into once we break out the deck to fix the leak. These estimates were always verbally approved, and due to the problems we ran into on this job, we now require everything in writing as company policy. We always called to have any further work approved. The customer is simply unhappy that there were so many leaks on his pool. He stated himself that there were drops in the water loss for every repair we made. After we fix a leak, if there is still water loss we continue, our leak detection at no additional cost. The customer fought us on this through the entire process and did not understand why we couldn't know exactly what the problem was before we broke out 4" of concrete. Each time we explained that despite using the best equipment currently on the market to complete leak detections, that it is not an exact science and that depending on exactly where and what is around the leak, that this could potentially increase the cost of repair as it would increase the work scope. This is no different than having a doctor or mechanic give you an estimate for work. Once you get in and see the problem, there may be things that complicate the procedure. The customer took this as shortcomings on our part, and at the end, deceit. We stand by our abilities, work ethic, and professionalism and feel that the other customer reviews we have confirm this.

These people are wonderful. David kept me informed throughout the entire process. The repairs and replacement were very involved, including a gas line leak that he called in someone else to fix. They leave me a special note on a door hang each week. They are always prompt. Totally reliable. My pool has never looked so clean and clear. I am so pleased with all their service!
Description of Work: They fixed up my entire pool equipment. Originally I called them because the plumber told me I had a leaking seal. Turns out my equipment was falling apart! They replaced the heater which was most of the expense. Also raised up my equipment. I now use them for my weekly service. This costs about $160/month.

My return line collapsed after the skimmer, under the pool deck. H2Oasis used a camera feed to find the collapse, and strategically located the area above the pool deck and made a cut in the deck to repair the line. They also replaced the flex line all the way to their new skimmer. The pump works amazingly well now, strong, and unimpeded. They patched the work they did with concrete texture and color as best they could match. Would do business again.

I was pleased with the service provided from start to finish. David explained exactly from a process standpoint what they would do and how they would complete the work. I do all of my regular pool maintenance including installation of new filters and pumps. It was nice to have someone who understands that I am capable of doing most of my own work, but were happy to complete this leak detection and repair. The job required breaking out an area of the deck, cutting out the broken PVC and repairing the same, and then repair of the deck. The deck repair was done by a subcontractor, but all the other work was done by Saul and David. I was completely satisfied with the work and would use them again.

The whole experience from start to finish with H2Oasis was top notch. David was very responsive and communicated extremely well along the way to be sure I understood the schedule, cost, and scope of what he would need to complete. We had a couple of pool lights completely replaced, and I was confident that David was the right choice, as he has actual certified electricians on staff, and followed our local permitting requirements to a tee. Small things, but several other pool guys I worked with did not do this, leaving me exposed. I will definitely stick with H2Oasis for any future pool work. They were far and away the best pool company I have worked with.

Thanks for the great review! Thanks you for pointing out something that we pride ourselves in. We ARE licensed by the state to do electrical work, and we are one of only TWO pool companies that are currently registered with the City of Houston to pull permits. If the City of Houston finds out there is work done without a permit, it is a $400 fine to the HOMEOWNER! Thanks again! It was great doing business with you!

They clean our pool every week. Normally 1 technician comes out, but sometimes 2 come out. They always leave a door invoice to let us know what they did and when is the next time we can use the pool. They are always there at their appointment time. Their office is easy to deal with; we did set up the automatic payment. This is also a family owned business and that was very important to us. They are also very easy to communicate with as well. They also serviced this pool for the other home owners before we moved in not to long ago; and they were the ones who recommended this company to us. The pool stays beautiful.

The owner, David, is great, but the service guy sometimes does good work and sometimes doesn't. I have high standards and I think they can work on cleaning the leaves out of the pool when the leaves come into the pool around this time of year. The pump has to run that gets the leaves out. It cleans it most of the time really well, but leaves get on the drain it clogs it. The way that you get the leaves off of the drain is you turn off the pump and you sweep them away. This technician doesn't turn off the pump and sweep the leaves off the drain to pump them up. There are some other details that he sometimes misses. The owner David, is great though, because he does make sure to take care of everything and always tries to correct it.

We did not hire them. We had them come out and provide an estimate for monthly pool service and maintenance. We did not use this company.

Response from H2Oasis Pools Llc
I am the owner and operator of H2Oasis Pools, and I’m shocked and saddened to read this review. H2Oasis Pools prides itself on trying to provide the best possible service in the industry. This can be seen in the way we present ourselves on the jobsite in professional uniforms; how we interact with our customers, being timely and courteous and always available to further explain things. Additionally, behind the scenes we strive to meet and exceed industry standards and the needs of our customers. All of our technicians are certified by APSP and/or IPSSA in water chemistry and pool maintenance. Furthermore and we spend time and money on continuing education for our employees to keep the basic information fresh and to be up to date with the industry. We are a fully insured, licensed, and multi-certified company. We are active members in both national pool organizations, APSP and IPSSA. We are one of only two pool companies we are aware of currently registered with the city to pull permits for electrical work. We are also one of less than 50 companies, by our last count, in the greater Houston area licensed by the State of Texas to do electrical work on your pool. I recall providing the estimate referenced in this review. I visited with the owner twice discussing our services and addressing their concerns from previous service providers. Our rate structure for pool service is pretty simple, we charge generally $70/service hour. For a standard 15K gallon pool we charge approximately $150/month for once a week cleaning including the cost of chemicals (roughly $35/week), which is on the low side when evaluated against comparable companies. For a standard 15K gallon pool, it takes our service techs 20-40 minutes per visit, depending on the time of year and what needs to be done each time. So on average we are onsite for 30 minutes and charge roughly $70/hour. The pool from this review has a lot of tree cover and is large (approximately 30K gallons) with varying depths, shelves, and benches making brushing and vacuuming more difficult. I estimated it would require 1 to 1.5 hours for a FULL clean, EVERY time we were out (many companies that do 2 services a week don’t necessarily vacuum and brush each time). We averaged this to 1.25 hours/clean, for a total of 2.5 hours/week. So, for 2.5 hours a week at $70/hour the cost is $175/week. Be assured this is our rate for any pool this size with similar onsite conditions regardless of address or zip code. Our service pricing, along with every estimate we provide, is based on simple math and never on how much we could take advantage of someone because of outlying circumstances. Most of our clients will attest to the opposite opinion of this review- we are timely, respectful, knowledgeable, thorough, and fair. As the owner, I treat my customers in exactly the same manner as I expect to be treated. I try to find the most economical way to help my customers and expect the same out of my employees, and they know it. We give what I consider a very good service, for a very fair price. When it is time to have your $40,000 to $100,000 car washed, do you let the guy on the corner do it just because he has a bucket of soapy water and a squeegee? Your pool is the same, we don’t recommend you let just anyone clean it. WE encourage people to take into consideration insurance, certifications and licensing to ensure your pool is being serviced properly. Improper chemical treatment can hurt you, your family, and damage the investment in your back yard. There is a price for knowledge, quality, and reliability. We are not the least expensive in the industry, but we are far from the most expensive. Be aware that not all companies or their service technicians are equal… We strive to be superior in the best interest of our clients. Should this reviewer have any issues with the provider they chose, please don’t hesitate to call us back.

I have been using them now for 6 months
Description of Work: I have used other Pool Service Companies and have had pretty good service but their prices were quite high. I decided to shop around and found H2Oasis. Their service is exceptional and prices were less than their competition. I have them clean the pool twice a week, they empty skimmers, brush, vacuum and check the chemicals every visit. None of the other companies vacuumed each visit, they do. David is the owner but I have has two others work on the pool and all are outstanding.
