Description of Work: Needed a toilet reset after having my floors redone. There was not anything wrong with the toilet before removal; also asked for a bid to clean out a pipe clogged with dirt from a gutter into a french drain. They were very overpriced and after I turned down the bids ($127 to replace a toilet flapper - they cost about $10-15 at Home Depot; $235 to reseal the toilet that I needed replacing which then turned into "I need to break into your slab and that's another $300" and $500 to clean out 12 feet of pipe of a French Drain - he offered other solutions but I was very turned off by the pricing, hard sell, and upselling. I'll use another plumber, thank you very much.

Description of Work: They did not show up. they called and said "we don't service your area" I am waiting for you to give me my refund!

Description of Work: I purchased two "annual check ups" from Church Services. My issue is not so much with the annual check ups, but in what was discovered, which was thousands of dollars of "recommended" improvements. The technician noted that while the upstairs unit was ok, our downstairs unit was extremely low on freon, and told me that the source of the leak would be nearly impossible to find without costly diagnostics. He also told me he had no way of knowing when the system would fail entirely. That, along with a drain pan replacement and float switches, convinced us to look into system replacement. I scheduled the appointment for later in the week. When I got home at the scheduled appointment time I found the salesman sitting in a rocking chair on my front porch -- which I found a little bizarre. I found his approach entirely off-putting. He belabored very simple points in his conversation, but then used unnecessarily complicated language at others. He also encouraged me to "talk this over with my husband" -- which is a real hot button issue for me. When I asked about the size of the units he insisted that what we had (two 4 ton units for a 3000 sq ft home) was appropriate, and there was no need for a new load calculation. He also was not interested in going up to my attic, instead telling me that "he knew exactly what every attic in Houston looks like." I had three more companies come out to give me quotes -- all three appointments were shorter, more informative, and better prices. And all three competitors actually went into my attic, and emphatically agreed that we had considerably more tonnage than we needed given the size and layout of our home. The kicker was that no more than 2 weeks later our upstairs unit stopped working altogether, and we needed to replace both units on an emergency basis. So much for the "all clear" from Church. A total waste of money from start to finish. I feel like this seasonal check was nothing more than an opportunity for me to pay them for a sales call.
