I called an electrician I ususally use but they couldn't come out. So I looked on Angie's list and found a coupon for Church. 2 hrs for $89. I figured since the guy was going to find and reset a GFI outlet in 10 min I might as well get that for cheap. Church couldn't come same day either but promised to come next day first call. They guy arrived about 8:30 and went over the story with the lights, showed him the outlets that were dead and fuse box. I had taken a bunch of covers off the dead outlets to speed up his process of checking everything. He used a battery operated radio plugged into a dead outlet in the garage that he said would come on if any pwr came thru that plug and went off again. He began taking close by live outlets apart checking them. He found one on the outside of my house that I didn't know I had. It had been painted closed and was covered with ivy. When he stuck his tester in there the radio turned on. He opened it up and it was pretty much rusted up inside. The screw that holds the wires was broken off so the wire could sometimes not make contact. He replaced it and another outdoor outlet with a GFIs and suggested I do the same to my bathroom circut as it appeared to not be protected.
Description of Work: Finding issues and correcting a dead circut in my house. I was putting up Xmas lights and I thought I blew a GFI somewhere. 7-8 outlets went off when my son plugged in a new strand of lights. I couldn't find a tripped GFI outlet anywhere and the GFI breaker in the box was not tripped. I removed covers to some dead outlets and the cover to my breaker box and saw that the wires had been moved off my GFI breaker to a std breaker when I had some work done 3 years ago. I thought that alone was worthy of an electrician.

Very well. I found the company as highest rated on Angie's List. They use all environmentally safe treatments, safe also for pets. I have found the residue, that is invisible, to be killing newly hatched spiders and invading mosquitoes, as well! I opted NOT to do the Snake-Away treatment because it's basically moth balls that evaporate readily, must be replaced and they are very toxic to dogs after just a whiff. At first, the fire ants returned in a week and Church Services wonderfully came out again and re-treated at no charge. Also, the ants surfaced because treatment as they advised before beginning would only treat the surface of the ground to a deep of a few inches and our newly built sub-division is sitting on deep Texas-quantity colonies. You can use Over-and-Out to permanently kill the ants, but not as safely. It is very toxic to pets and gardens when water-activated and would leach into our lake 30 feet from our house where pets drink and neighbors fish. To repell the snakes, using a pooper-scooper, I have put my dog's dried poop around the perimeter our yard. This repells rodents and other critters, and thusly, the snakes. It was recommended by Texas Wildlife and It seems to work, as our neighbor has had 4 mice in her pantry in as many months, and we have had none!
Description of Work: Spray yard outside and house floors inside for spiders, crickets, roaches, and ants. Put out granules for ants in the yard and additional handfuls tossed into attic for rats and mice. The price is for quarterly service for the whole year.

Although the young woman on the phone didn't seem too informed, Kenny of Church Services performed the pest control treatment. He was quite knowledgeable, friendly, & professional. I was happy with the price and effectiveness of the treatment. He didn't leave any stains on my new walls which at first was horrifying to see the wet splashing, but it dried invisibly. Now 2 months later, I still find newly dead spiders & insects showing that the treatment is still working. The ant treatment in the yard, however, had to be repeated 2 weeks later, and the ants have returned again after a month. This is just as Kenny had warned me they would, b/c the ants are throughout the underground and the treatment only discourages surface activity; the ants resume after the pesticide weathers. Kenny recommended my husband apply "Down n Out" with spreader for permanent elimination, but I have not as yet chosen that route due to high danger of that product, especially around water. We have a lake a short few feet from our new house and the permanent contamination of that product is poisonous to fish, birds, and wild life.
Description of Work: eliminate all ants, crickets, spiders, centipedes, et al, from new property land and house with environmentally safe pesticides.

My a/c stopped working Friday 8/12. I called [Allied Home Warranty] but the earliest they could come was late Tuesday 8/16. It was over 100 outside and close to 100 inside my house On Monday 8/15 I called Church Services after reading reviews on Angie's List and talking to a neighbor, plus they were located close to my home. A gentleman answered phone, was professional and friendly, said they could get someone out that day within a designated time frame and would call 1/2 hour ahead of appt. A/c tech did call and came as scheduled and said the condenser fan motor was bad and needed to be replaced. He said the cost would be $883 for OEM/mfg brand fan motor or $587 for generic fan motor. I watched him replace the motor which he did in a very short time frame, he checked the rest of the unit as well as going into the attic to check inside unit and said all else was fine, freon level fine etc. Everything was fine except for the cost; i've since learned that this was a very high price to pay for the service. I felt it was high at the time but could not wait any longer since I was so miserable.
Description of Work: Replaced condenser fan motor on outside a/c unit.

Very pleased with the going this route. I was very nervous about buying my new furnace and AC from Costco but everything went so smooth and Church Services is top notch! The one thing to be aware of is you are buying everything from Costco if you go that route. So the normal Costco limitations on how you pay for everything still apply ... no visa, no payment plans ... only check, debit card or American Express are allowed. Church Services has other options if you were dealing with them exclusively but then you don't get the great Costco price on the hardware. Would highly recommend using Church Services for HVAC work. Top notch experience!
Description of Work: My 15 year old heating and AC system finally crapped out so I went to Costco here in Houston that sells HVAC services by using local contractors (Church Services in this case). The appraiser from Church Service was very punctual and walked me through all the options (just replace the compressor versus the whole thing, etc.). I went with a complete replacement of both the AC system and the Furnace. Both from Lennox which is what is sold via Costco. But I did not go with the highest energy efficiency system as for my size of house, it just didn't make sense. The work was scheduled to be done a couple days later. The installers (there were two of them), showed up right at 8am and immediately started laying drop cloths to protect my flooring. First they removed the old furnace and evaporator from the attic and ripped out the old return plenum. They then reinstalled the new items and redid all the connects and condensate drains, etc. Next came the outside AC system and that was swapped out pretty fast. Final item was the new electronic thermostat which I love (compared to my old analog switch thermostat). They were done by lunch so was just a tad over 4 hours from start to finish. Everything went smooth and they were very tidy afterwards and spent some time going over how the new thermostat works.

They were fair and I would recommend again.
Description of Work: Initial Call on A/C not cooling, Came as emergency call and determined was bad condensor motor. Set up appt to replace next evening they did not get part, but neglected to contact us. They credited the Rush Call Charge. Came out the following day and replaced Condensor motor and still not cooling as the compressor was overheated. (105 degrees outside and 22 year old unit). The compressor started cooling later that evening. Three days unit overheated again due to 107 degrees outside and 22 year old unit. Decided to replace condensor unit and coils as over 25 years old. The sales rep was very fair and gave me a fair quote (I had another bid on same equipment) and in addition he discounted the amount already spent. They installed two days later in 4 hours. We are suprised how inefficient our old unit was for so many years.

Church scheduled the installation two days after the sales call. The sales person said the crew would be at the house at 8:00 AM. Which they did, right on the dot. The crew laid down protective floor covering then some headed to the attic, while others tackled the outside portion of the work. At 11:30 AM one of the crew members appeared and said they were done. He walked us through the new systems and we completed the remaining paper work while the remaining crew cleaned and packed up. We noticed by 3:30 PM that both units had not reached the 76 degree setpoints set on the thermostats. Since we felt adequate time had passed for the units to cool the house, we called Church and they immediately dispatched a technician to the house. The technician set the units for optimal performance and they have been operating beautifully since. Other then the installation crew not quite setting up the units correctly, we would highly recommend Church Services.
Description of Work: Our second floor central AC unit was not able to adequately cool the area. We had another service company come and look at the unit and they determined the evaporator coil was deteriorated beyond repair. And the outside condensor unit also had several issues. Since the AC units were builder grade and going on 14 years, We were not surprised by the diagnosis. I had them quote a replacement system, which we thought was rather high. We wanted a second estimate, and since we are members of a big box warehouse, we called and asked them to provide an estimate as well. Church Services called and scheduled an appointment several days later. After the sales person determined our needs, he offered a quote that replaced not only the second floor unit, but the first floor unit as well. And the cost was not that much higher then the single unit from the service company. Since we don't plan to spend the next 20 years in this home, we didn't want to spend the money on the newer super high efficiency 23 seer units because we would never see a return on our investment. We did go with the 14 seer units, which Church provide from a major reputable AC manufacturer. Another plus, was the fact the units came with 10 year warranties.

Church Services was very responsive and punctual. They were able to come out the same day we called. Their technician was very considerate, on-time, and professional in appearance, going so far as to put on shoe-covers when he walked inside to avoid tracking dirt. Our problem was with the result of the service. The technician examined our equipment and diagnosed a bad compressor. Although the part itself was under warranty, the labor to replace it was to be extensive, and we were quoted over $900 for this service. I called another company for a second opinion. The tech from the other company diagnosed some bad electronics and a dying fan, which they replaced for a total of $300 - the compressor was working just fine as it turned out. This makes me seriously question the technical skill of Church's technicians. Ultimately, we only paid Church Services the $69 trip fee.

After my home warranty group sent out their less than acceptable provider, and after trying to deal with them for a week to get my air conditioning evaporative coil replaced, I called Church Services. They had an estimate and the repair completed within 24 hours. They were professional, the technicians covered all flooring with tarps, they wore booties, and were very courteous. I have used Church Services to perform my HVAC check-ups in the fall and spring, and have always been very satisfied. They have also made plumbing repairs and that department is also outstanding. I highly recommend Church Services!

I called Eagle Air which turns out was purchased by Church Services at 1:00 pm on a Saturday. The technician was at my house within 1-1/2 hours. He determined the capacitor needed to be replaced. He had the part on the truck and was able to install the part and get my AC unit back up and cooling almost immediately. Before he replaced the capacitor he had informed me of the price for the part and labor. No problem, I just wanted my AC fixed! By 3:30 pm I was filling out the paperwork to pay him. So within 2-1/2 hours of realizing I had a problem the problem was fixed. Amazing response time for the heat of the summer when no one wants to be without AC. The technician followed up with me on Monday and reported my capacitor was under warranty and all I needed to pay for was his labor! Another independent contractor had installed the unit in 2007 but Church Services took the time to check and see if I had any warranty on the capacitor. That's going above and beyond in my opinion. I will definitely call Church Services next time I need AC work.

Church Services came on Saturday morning after I called on Friday. The technician did a thorough inspection and told us that there were NO leaks and that our unit does NOT need to be replaced in the near future. He also gave us all the information on a replacement unit we can have installed when the time comes that is much higher quality and half the price quoted by the first service company. He spent over an hour at our house on a Saturday morning and did not charge us for the service call. We were relieved and very impressed by the honesty and professionalism of the Church Services technician.
Description of Work: Church Services came out to inspect our AC/Heating system and give us a 2nd opinion because we had been told the day before by another company that we needed a new unit because of serious leaks and other issues.

Overall, everything went well. The company was very responsive and installed the units within a day or two of providing an estimate. Given the time of the year and recent heatwave/dryspell, we thought that we'd have to spend several days without cool air and hot water. When we suddenly had no hot water after replacing the A/C unit, it was us and not the company that insisted on just going ahead and replacing the water heater too. They wanted to double check their installation work first, to make sure the problem wasn't caused by the A/C install instead (i.e. forgetting to re-light the furnace). That was the problem, but we still didn't have any hot water after they came back out (at no cost to us) to re-light the furnace. Both the A/C and water heater were 12 years old and we had never had the heater "flushed" the entire time we had it. I believe that we got great service, so much so that we've also signed up for the company's Priority Member plumbing and A/C service programs - so that we get regular inspections/discounted maintenance services and our new units last even longer than the other ones.
Description of Work: The company came out to investigate issues with A/C fan continually blowing but not cooling. They were also asked to provide an estiamte for replacing the A/C and if necessary the water heater. The company ended up installing new A/C and water heater. Both items replaced were 12 years old and new when first installed.

I called for an electrician and they scheduled one for that same day. They called and let me know approximately when he would arrive. Mike came on time, was very respectful and efficient, and had my light fixture repaired in about 10 minutes. I am very pleased with the result and with the company's communication with me. I rated the price as "good" instead of "excellent" because I have no idea if this is a bargain or not, but it seems reasonable. They charge a $69 fee to give an estimate, which is waived if you choose them to do the service.

We had a backup in the toilet and as it turned out, it was not in the line in my house, it was in the main line out, infront of the town home complex, so it was quite expensive and it ended up being the responsibility of the town home complex. They worked hard trying to solve the problem. I got charged almost $ 400 for repairs which did not end up fixing the problem. It was fixed for about a day and then it backed up again at the end of the line, in the main line. They came out again. The town home association reimbursed me for my cost since the real problem was always on the outside and never inside. The Church Services was really nice. I ended up spending nothing but the town home association spent almost $5000. Actually when they reimbursed me, it was over $5000. They helped with a lot of digging. Price; I have no idea because I have not had any major plumbing issues so I have nothing to base it on. Quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were excellent. I would use their services in the future.

The technician, Jesse, was polite, gave me an entire packet of information about Trane (including a diagramed drawing of what the work would include) and about their company (Church Services) along with his estimate. He was thorough, explained what the estimate would include, and asked for my business. He also showed me all the other things his company was able to do. Royce was punctual on the initial callout, and scheduled the sewer line replacement work to begin in just a couple of days. They brought out a digging crew, and rerouted the new line around the tree, keeping our sewer in service for as long as possible. In one long day they installed the new line. The only issue was that we weren't notified that they were going to cut into the sewer to make the connections. Luckily, I saw what they were doing and nothing was sent down the drains. Also, Royce said it would only be out of service a couple of hours, but was more like 8 hours. The pricing was an issue for me. The original bid was based on the sewer line being 4 feet deep, from the furthest cleanout from the house. As it turned out, most of the new line was installed at between 18 inches at the house to the 4 foot depth at the furthest cleanout. I asked for a change to the pricing, as most of the cost was in digging. Church agreed to price the entire 80 foot run at a 3 foot depth, and I agreed. It may have still been a little high, but I had accepted their bid lump sum and Church did not have to renegotiate with me at all. Once the city inspection was complete, we expected Church to be out the next day to cover up the trench. There must have been a communication issue, as a couple of days went by with no activity. We called and Church was responsive, working late one afternoon to complete the work.
Description of Work: Church first cleaned our clogged sewer line, finding roots inside the line. They ran a camera down the line and found several places where the PVC line was separating, and one section under a large tree where the line would not drain due to a belly in the piping. Royce, the plumber who came out, recommended replacing the portion of the line that had the separations, through the low spot under the tree. He gave me a price that seemed in line with the work, and I told them to go ahead.

I called in the morning, and asked for an afternoon time slot. They gave me 12-5pm, but called around 10:30 saying there was an early opening if I wanted it. I had to decline, and I had one of their techs out in the middle of my original window. After reviewing everything and going over their price chart with me, I agreed to the work. Once Aurelio had the toilet off, he saw that while the flange had some slight warping to it, it was fine. He recommended that I did not replace the flange, as cutting into it to remove it could damage the pipe, and become a more expensive project. He tightened the tank to bowl attachments that I had not tightened enough, reseated the bowl perfectly, replaced the water supply line, tested everything, and then once everything was great, used silicone around the bottom of the toilet. He also fixed the chain on the handle so that it's a perfect flush. When everything was complete, he offered a free inspection, checked our water lines around the house, and made a few suggestions about replacing certain vinyl water supply lines. Lastly, he looked at our water heater, and found some problems with corrosion, and using galvanized connections/elbows on copper pipes, recommending that we replace the water heater. We'll be getting a second opinion and quote on that, as it's a pile of money we had not expected to spend. Overall they were prompt and did their job very well. The price was higher than I had expected, but I had no frame of reference, and they clearly had a pricing guide for all sorts of work, and showed it to me when we discussed everything. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I had replaced a toilet, and it did not sit well. Some warping in the flange gave me difficulty, and when the toilet was slightly not level, and some (clean) water was escaping after a flush, I decided not to fight with it anymore. Church was called to re-seat the toilet, and replace the flange.

We have used Church Services for 10 years. Excellent results. The people in the office know what is going on, which I find not the norm at most service companies. . Prices have seemed fair. They always arrive on time and do not cancel appointments at the last minute. I don't think you can go wrong with Church Services in terms of A/C or pest control. Have not used them for other services.
Description of Work: They have installed 2 Trane A/C units, and moved a compressor location outside and ran a new freon line.We have also had a couple of heating/ A/C repairs that they resolved without difficulty. We now use them for pest control and they do a good job there too.
