Church Services

Called Church 09/05/2015 early in the evening and told them my air conditioner was no longer cooling. Told them I was an Angie's list member they suggested I purchase a coupon for an inspection. I purchased coupons for both air conditioning and heat inspection. Service Tech came the next day. Service Tech told me the dual capacitor for my air conditioner needed to be replaced. He quoted a price and told me he had the part. I told him to make the repair and then started thinking the price sounded high. I called two other contractors on Angie's list and found they would do the repair for much less than the cost quoted. I cancelled the repair. The internet is a wonderful thing it saved me $150.00

The technician, Eric B, arrived on time, did an outstaning job checking everything and explained any potential problems without the high pressure sales pitch that often accompanies these things. Church Services as a whole was almost over-responsive to my appointment needs which is rare in the service industry these days but welcomed. I highly recommend CS and would use them again.

Electrican arrived on time and worked diligently for the two hour appointment. Finally got the chandelier hung - a new box had to be added in the ceiling-and the builder's miswiring in the kitchen outlets was corrected. There was a lot of peace of mind after that appointment. The best money we ever spent!

He was thorough and very professional. I would use Church Services for additional plumbing needs.

I was very happy with Church Services and will likely use them again in the future. They called to confirm the service the day before, called to let me know they were on their way and then arrived on time. He was very professional, explaining the service. He walked through the house, entered the attic and canvased the perimeter spraying and setting traps. I was also concerned about carpenter ants, because our inspection had shown them. He eased my fears by telling me that he hadn't seen any evidence of them, but that he put bait out to be sure. He also addressed fire ant mounds in the yard for us. Would recommend them to others.

Overall, though, the technician was very nice and did fix one thing. Taking down the heavy outside light fixtures was a great help, too. I think this is probably a good company and I'm just sorry I didn't have the kind of work he could actually handle. But it was not by any means a bad experience.

Church Services took my call before I bought the deal, and made sure they could come out the day I needed them (an urgent Saturday). I bought the deal, they called me instantly and set up my appointment. Alex M was sent to our house fixed our problems ASAP, and told us we had him for the 2 hours and asked if he could do more for us, which he happily did. It is a rare event that a service guy is so nice, helpful, honest and actually cared about what he was doing for us. I didn't realize what all Church Services did and had a pest control company come out at the same time...the difference between Alex and the other company tech was TREMENDOUSLY and transparently obvious about the lackluster performance of the other guy. After this experience with Alex at Church Services, I don't want to use any other company ever again (or a service guy other than Alex). He fixed all of our outlets, a couple other electric items we needed or wondered about. In addition, he educated us on what he was doing. My only complaint - Alex said that Church sends qualified technicians for whatever issue...i.e. Alex won't do the plumbing, as he is an electrical technician. I look forward to using Church Services much more in the future.

My HVAC system had gone out the week before I called Church Services. I called another service provider, whose name I'd been given as a last-minute fix, not realizing that Church Services could handle AC repair and respond so quickly. Had I known they did more than plumbing, I'd have called them. When the other company was at my house, fixing my 22 year-old HVAC unit (yes, I know; it's probably time for a new one), I felt a little pushed into buying a new unit. The repair guy/sales person of the other company had made it seem like do or die and that if I didn't act now I was likely to have water leaking through my ceiling again and maybe within a week. Unsure about what to think of that company, I came to Angie's List and saw that others had loved that company's owner but had felt that the techs were either not quite qualified or a bit pushy. It was while reading about that company that I saw that Church Services had A+ reviews from almost everybody. I also saw that they had an AC tune-up special for $49. Obviously, I called. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get a second opinion. When the tech came out--I believe his name was Michael--he not only took his time in looking everything over, but also went over in detail how the system worked and what its challenges were being that it was 22 years old. He explained to me what he thought the problem had been and whether or not it was likely to occur again. He went over drawings and showed me a detailed map of my unit. He also explained with the drawing where the problem occurred and why. I've never had someone do that--not tot that extent any way. Here's what impressed me even more: his professionalism. For as generous as he was in explaining this to me, never once did he tell me I needed to buy a new unit. It was after his explanation, however, that I decided to ask him what he thought. He said it was probably time for a new unit and explained what I'd get from having one, but he also never said I had to do it--at least not right now. Never once did he put the fear of God in me, which I appreciated. I later had another Church Services person come out to give me an estimate, and I'm seriously considering buying a new unit. I don't know if I will use Church Services or the man who put in the system in my garage apartment (he's an honest man, too), but right now Church Services has been the most responsive. They even followed up 2 weeks later to check on my thoughts about the estimate. (It's on my voice mail; I missed the call). That's impressive to me, and I'm leaning in their direction.

We contacted Church to come out for the tune-ups purchased via Angie's List coupon. They were prompt, courteous and on time. When the technician came to do the tune-ups, he claimed there was a crack in the return for the downstairs unit. He said it wasn't visible, but asked if the unit ran more than not and we said yes. We just figured that was a function of keeping the house at 72, and it being the middle of August, but bills hadn't been higher than usual, so there was not a reason for us to be concerned. He explained that without the crack, the unit would run more efficiently, so in hopes of lowering our overall electric bill, we agreed to the $260. A couple of weeks went by, and we talked about the results of the 'repair'. The house would never reach the desired 72 degrees, not even overnight once the weather cooled off a bit. The unit ran incessantly, and we agreed that things were worse now than they had been before. We called Church to tell them of the problem. Again, they were courteous and sent someone out the same day. It was the same technician, and upon inspection, he informed us that the unit had frozen up. Said something about once the crack was repaired, it changed the pressure in the unit and the levels must have been low... so now, the unit needed to be unfrozen, and more freon added (note: none was added at the time of the first visit, despite the fact the coupon included up to 2 pounds per unit). We asked how much needed to be added, and he said 'about 2 pounds', then proceeded to tell us there would be an additional $79 + ?? for the two pounds of freon. We reminded him that the coupon included 2 pounds, and he informed us that that was good at the time of the tuneup. Needless to say, since it was the result of what he did that caused the problem with the unit to begin with, we weren't happy and he reluctantly agreed to recharge the unit without cost. At the end of the day, they handled the situation properly, but we are not certain that we didn't get 'taken' with the 'repair', nor are are certain that we received all the freon we need, or that we won't have additional problems with the unit that never had an issue before they came. This was disappointing, as due to the stellar reviews, we were excited to have them come out and felt it was a worthwhile investment in the house. Now, we question if we've done more harm than good.

Serviceman was punctual, polite, personable, and have a clean uniform on. I can't comment on the quality of the chemical used as he did not give me what is used in writing, other than to tell me that it is all govt approved, when I asked. I gave a B for quality, but it is impossible to tell. This service is one of those specials Angie's advertised.

They came on time, explained what they were doing and I was satisfied with their work.

The technician seemed very knowledgeable & did a good job flushing out our water heater. My only complaint is that I scheduled the appointment from 10-2pm window & no one from the company called me to let me know it would be later. I had to call the company around 3:30pm & the rep told me the tech would be there within the hour. He showed up around 5pm and spent about 30 minutes flushing the water heater.

I booked an appointment for the plumber to arrive between 8am - 12am. The company called me at 7:45am to let me know there was a plumber available and asked me if I was ready for him. I appreciated them calling to make sure and they sent the plumber over within 20 minutes of the call. He was very nice and professional when he arrived. He inspected my water heater for the new house I had just purchased and let me know that I may need a new one in a few years, but if there were no problems yet it was okay. He then wrote me a few quotes for a new water heater just in case I decided I needed to do it sooner rather than later. Also he taught me how to change the water temperature, how to light the pilot light in case it went out, and how to connect my dryer to the gas connection from my water heater. A great experience and I will call him when I decide to replace my water heater.

The technician was on time and nice, but I am concerned that the product may not have worked since it was raining when he sprayed the outside of the house.

Went well, the technician did a detailed inspection of the entire electrical system.

They were very good. They seem very knowledgeable and are always helpful. They arrive on time and are professional. I would highly recommend them and would use them in the future.

Had an initial problem with pest services. They called and fixed the problem for me with no hassle at all.

They showed up extremely late. They told me they would show up between 12pm and 5pm. They called at 5:10pm to tell me the technician is on his way. When he finally shows up, he in and out of the house in ten minutes. They were not very thurough in their investigation or treatment.

A/C Unit was low on freon; technician checked for leak in evaporator coil without charging since found almost immediately. Counseled me on options to either keep current unit or replace without overselling or pressuring.

Did not get what was paid for or the full service as described - completely dis-satisfied.
