Eric was punctual and explained everything in a way that we could easily understand. After everything was fixed, our sink still didn't drain right, but they sent out someone right away to make sure it was fixed (at no additional cost).
Description of Work: Fixed a drain clog, installed a garbage disposal and fixed leak pipe.

The electrical guy came on time on 2/8 to understand the detail of my requirement and said the company will send me the estimate on the other day. I didn't get the quote until 2/20. The quote was, however, reasonable so I decide to go next step and I tried to call to ask their schedule and few detail questions. The electrical manager who sent me the quote didn't response at all. I gave up after trying three calls and messages and email contact because I am afraid they might have same problem to warranty their job

Let me start off by saying the quality of the work and the workers is top-knotch and very professional. I am very pleased with the work completed and the time frame in which it was done. I initially called another company which had previously done pier work on the house back in 1998, prior to my purchase of the property. I was not pleased with their “relationship” with their recommended plumber and my realtor sister suggested Church Services. I was very impressed with the large number of positive reviews on Angie's List and called for a bid. My initial request was for the plumbing work. A crew came out and performed an isolation test on two systems, for which I was billed $635, which I promptly paid. A salesman came out and prepared a bid for the plumbing work, which involved tunneling under the home and replacing some piping. This estimate totaled $9,604.93 and we signed the contract authorizing the work. I also requested an estimate for slab repair and John measured and checked level throughout the house. At this time, I requested two things. I asked for an estimate on what it would cost to add an additional line to the rear bath and stub it up with a clean-out behind my garage for access in the future. I, also, asked that all billing, both plumbing and slab work, be condensed into a single bill to avoid confusion on our part. The salesman then presented us with an estimate for the slab repairs. The total, at the top of the estimate was for $9,236.48, which I considered a very reasonable amount. Under section 12, near the bottom of the estimate, were four “Additional Considerations.” In hindsight, I realized these items meant “additional costs”, but, at the time, I did not recognize that. One of the items was (#4 on the list) “Additional cost to tunnel interior pilings with proposed plumbing re-route/repair. $10,440.00.” I perceived this to mean the cost of the job increased from $9,236.48 up to $10,440.00, at that time. I signed the document and e-mailed it back, authorizing the work and initialed the #4 item to authorize the tunnel work, since they were already digging tunnels for the plumbing work. My assumption was the cost was not as significant since tunnel work was already included with the plumbing costs. I did not receive any verification of costs until work was almost completed. I did receive an invoice for Foundation Repair for $19,676.48, but assumed, since I asked for a combined bill, that this included the plumbing. I paid the $9,838.24 as requested and was very pleased all the work was moving along quite well. When I got an e-mail from a woman from Church Services plumbing department, with invoices for the plumbing, I realized what the total amounted to and, by then, the work was almost completed. Instead of owing the company close to $19,676.48, as I thought I did, I actually owed $29,281.41, 50% more than what I thought I had agreed to pay. I cannot begin to describe how shocked I was at that realization. Then I was asked for an additional $110 for another hydrostatic test to verify the plumbing work's integrity, but the test revealed another leak, which added another $1,100 to the cost. (They were kind enough to deduct the cost of the hydrostatic test from this cost to lower it to $990.00.) My total plumbing cost was $$10,594.43. Additionally, I was informed they completed all the plumbing and did not address the line extension I had requested. I called Mr. Nieman to discuss this and was told that, basically it would be too difficult to do because of the exterior concrete beams of the home and the depth of the line. It might have been expensive or difficult to do, but, as the customer, it appears that it was forgotten and I felt I was given a “blow-off” story to pacify me. It might have been more than I was willing to pay, but I was never given any estimate to make an informed decision. It certainly will cost me more now if I choose to go forward with the project I was considering. I would to repeat I have no issues with the work or workers. The job was done very professionally and quickly. All crew members were very courteous and hard-working. The foreman, Mr. Reyes, was on top of everything and the job-site was left in great shape, considering the size of the job performed. My complaint is with the way the job was managed by the company. I never got adjusted invoices letting me know what I owed until work was completed. I had request two items and did not get either of them. I was expecting a job that was costing me in the $20,000 range and ended up paying over $30,270. I truly believe that I was billed for the tunnel work done during the plumbing phase, then billed for it again during the foundation work phase. I sent an e-mail to the plumbing department woman requesting that she pass it on to either Mr. Church or the company manager and never heard a word back. I did not contact the salesman, as the two items I had requested before had been ignored. My overall experience has been one of some enlightenment. Church Services does very high quality work and does it quickly, but watch your paperwork like a hawk and do not trust what they tell you. Make sure whatever you agree to is in writing and ask for adjusted invoices after you sign anything. This cost me a significant amount of money that was budgeted for other repairs because of the lack of clarity.
Description of Work: We used Church Services to do some hydrostatic testing, pinpoint where our leaks were and do some tunneling to do some repairs. We then contracted to do additional pier work under the slab, since they were already tunneling. Church Services completed the plumbing repairs and added 26 "piles" under the residence and attached garage. Hydrostatic testing was done again to verifying the plumbing was complete (for an additional fee.) Another leak was found and additional tunneling and repairs were completed, which also increased the cost. They also repaired a section of exterior sewer line, but this was included in the original bid.

Very happy with serviceman. The guy sounded smart and started troubleshooting our two bedroom lights. Most of the time blaming builder for shoddy work. Took about an hour and a half to do it. When 15 minutes were left he said he could only fix one in 15 minutes and the only way to fix the other one would be to pay for an additional hour. I had no choice but to pay for the extra hour. He finished the rest of the work in 40 minutes but still charged me for the extra full hour. Stay away from this company.

I guess it must be a large, busy company with a lot of things going on, because the electrician that I scheduled for late afternoon didn't arrive until mid-evening. Although we liked the electrician, and might hire him again, he seemed to have had a long day, and wasn't quite as sharp as he might have been earlier in the day. So he missed some things, like we had a long and a short rod for hanging our ceiling fan, and he used the short one on our very high ceiling, so that continues to bother me when I look at it way, way up there. And when he unpacked the chandelier, he couldn't find a small connecting part, telling me I had to go back to the lighting store to see if I could get a replacement part. But the next day, I found the part in the box, and was able to finish the chandelier myself, although it took a little time. So, overall, not a great experience, but I blame Church, and not the electrician, because he must have been over-tired after such a long day, and they should have offered to re-schedule this for a time when they could send someone who wasn't tired already from a long day of working.

The quote was so high that it took me by surprise. I thought that $99.00 would cover everything as the Big Deal stated but apparently this wasn't the case.

Overall, work was performed very well, but price was high. I wanted to replace a very old faucet on my bathroom sink; due to its age, I anticipated encountering problems with replacing the faucet myself. Then, I found that, because of the age of the house (built 1955), there were not even any shut-off valves at that sink, meaning that I would have to shut off the water to the whole house when I replaced the faucet. Because of these factors, I decided to call a plumber to replace the faucet and, at the same time, install shut-off valves at that sink. I called five plumbers on Angie's list. Three provided estimates for the faucet replacement over the phone; two of those also provided estimates for installation of the shut-off valves. Two, including Church Services, would not provide estimates over the phone, but required visits, which would incur charges, for estimates; if I decided to use either of these plumbers, the estimate call charges would be canceled. Church offered to waive the service charge for the estimate, so I decided to have Church Services come out to examine the job and provide an estimate. At that time, Church Services was offering an Angie's List Big Deal ($200 worth of work for @99), but the offer expired on Jan. 15, the day before they were scheduled to visit and provide an estimate. Since the estimates I had received over the phone exceeded $200, I purchased the Big Deal. When Charles Williams visited on Jan. 16, he examined the work to be done and then consulted a binder for what appeared to be standard rates for the two jobs; it did not seem that he observed any reason for an abnormally high rate. I told him that his estimate was higher than the estimates I had gotten over the phone, so I declined to have him perform the service at that time. I re-contacted the plumbers that had provide the estimates over the phone to confirm their estimates. I then calculated that using the Big Deal would make the Church Services charges comparable to the other phone estimated charges; the amount that Church Services charged for the faucet replacement was $55-$85 higher than the phone estimated charges (the charge for installing the shut-off valves was comparable). Thus, I decided to have Church Services perform the job. Charles Williams did the faucet replacement and shut-off valve installations on Jan. 18. He was prompt and courteous, and he did an exceptional job. He was very careful not to get anything dirty, and he cleaned up very well. As I watched him work, I was very glad that I did not attempt to do this myself; I cannot say enough about how good a job he did. I am very pleased with the work that was done, and I would readily consider Church Services for future plumbing work. However, I would also contact other plumbers, considering the higher charges I discovered on this occasion. The Big Deal was a significant factor in choosing Church Services; I will add a note that the people I talked to at the office seemed not to be entirely familiar with how the Big Deal worked.

This is a review for Church Services, ARS Rescue Rooter, and Herndon Muncey Plumbing. The short story is that Church Services saved us a lot of money and did a good job. We called ARS about an overflowing toilet. When the plumber arrived he dismounted our toilet and called his supervisor who decided to put a camera down the sewer to check it out. He jerked the cable so violently that he got the camera stuck backwards in the sewer and then broke the camera cable leaving the camera in the sewer pipe. He commented that it would cost an additional $10,000. He quoted us $26,000 and said they would start the next morning. ARS was not sure how to handle one of the drains in the back of the house but thought they would use some of the existing piping for that. I called Travelers insurance and they said they would send an investigator. I stopped ARS and called Church Services who bid less than $15,000 for a straightforward complete reroute. Both Church and ARS said the entire sewer system should be replaced all the way to the street. Travelers sent Herndon Muncey who fished out the camera and proposed a complex job to replace only the plumbing the insurance company was obligated for and we would abandon a washer drain that we are not currently using but contemplate using in the future. Herndon Muncey’s proposal would cost less but leave us with a complex mix of old and new plumbing. Herndon Muncey’s contract also indicated that the price quoted was not a firm price. If they discovered something their estimator had not contemplated we would have to pay whatever they wanted for the extra work. We chose Church Services and Travelers agreed. Church Services did the job at the proposed price in the time they estimated. They were careful to make as little mess as possible and cleaned up well. The job has been finished for more than a month and it looks like the lawn, flower beds, and patio where they had to dig their tunnels and trenches are recovering well. We have recommended John Nieman at Church Services to our friends for sewer reroutes. The crew does not speak English so deal with John.

Person I spoke with during inital call for appt was very helpful when I told him I needed to coordinate work on short-notice due to the schedule of my drywall guy already in progress with removal of old fluorescent lightbox & repair ceiling (one day's notice!) - he made it happen & saved me weeks of time to reschedule everything. My adult son was home during the work and was impressed with their electrician - very professional, knowledgable, polite & helpful. Installed 5 canned fixtures and even stayed a bit longer to finish up the last one (that apparently proved more difficult) without additional charge, although I told my son it was okay if we needed to pay extra as necessary. Unfortunately my son forgot to have a patio ceiling fan installed the same day (at extra charge) but that was his mistake & no fault of the service provider. Overall I was extremely pleased with the work & would hire themagain.

Essentially, I ended up paying $99 to get estimates on some replacements and a nut tightened. That was disappointing. The estimates to replace the faucet (once I purchase a new one) was around $250. The estimate to install the water softener was extremely high. The softener brand/model he mentioned is available at several retailers for around $1300. Their estimate of $4800 indicated a labor cost of nearly $3500. While some piping/wiring work will be needed, I felt that the amount quoted was extremely high. The estimate cost of the Navien tankless water heater at several retailers is around $1500, leaving nearly $2500 for removing existing water heater and new installation. Overall, I felt that while the person who came was technically quite capable/knowledgeable, their quoted prices are extremely high. Update: After talking to a friend, it turns out that our Kohler faucets come with a lifetime warranty, and all faucet cartridges and pull rod would be replaced at no cost by Kohler. Church services should have known about this lifetime warranty and should have informed us accordingly. Not doing so is quite unprofessional.
Description of Work: - Attempted to unjam lavatory faucet - unable to repair - suggested replacing the faucet altogether. - Pull rod of faucet not functioning - unable to repair as it was broken - said new parts would be needed. Didnt have them. Will do it next visit. - Handle on another faucet was moving beyond desired position. Tightened the handle. Works ok now. - Gave estimate to install water softener of $4800+ - Gave estimate to installl Navien tankless water heater (11gpm) of $4400+ Update: After talking to a friend, it turns out that our Kohler faucets come with a lifetime warranty, and all faucet cartridges and pull rod would be replaced at no cost by Kohler.
