Church Services

Our experience was TERRIBLE. We had a leakeage in the kitchen's faucet so decided to look up in Angie's List a company with good ratings, and found Church Services. We noticed they had a coupon for $200 worth of plumbing services, so we got it (paid $111 for the coupon). Called the company to schedule a service and they had someone available to come the next day. I get to my house complex and see a Chruch Service's truck going around the block, I go to my garage and leave the door open so the technician knows that there is someone in the house. He parks literally 20 feet from my door and stays in his car talking on the phone. I wait 15-20 min and get a call from the scheduling assistant saying that the technician called her saying there is NONE at home (I should have known the kind of service we were going to get from this person since right there). I tell her I know he is parked right next to my house, that I have seen the truck and that I have been there for a while and he hasn't rang the bell or anything. Finally the guy steps out of the vehicle, comes to our house and reviews the problem. Turns out that the hose that conects to the faucet was not connected at all. This guy starts saying this kind of things might need a lot of repair and that he needs to talk to the office so he can give us an estimate, I ask him if it's broken or what and he just says he will make a phone call and then explain all the repairs he needs to do. He steps out of the house and we start looking at the hose & the faucet, it turns out that it was only UNSCREWED, so we screw it and leakeage if GONE. Guy stays out for like 15 min, comes back and we tell him what we just found and he responds to us: Yes, well I was the one who pointed out where the problem was. We should have let him go right there, but instead, decided to ask him to seal the small remaining leakeage so we would use the coupon we had. BIG MISTAKE. The guy took 20 min to seal the leakeage, then 2:30 hrs getting a new piece & small screw, taking him a total of 3.30 Hrs to do a simple, small job. Plus, we ended up paying 50 dollars more for the piece he "got" that didn't even look like the piece we had. After a whole afternoon wasted because of this service, I just wanted him out of my house. I do not recommend this company. Their service level is ridiculous, technicians are not honest & pricing is totally expensive for the service performed.

Electrical work was performed neatly and professionally. In hindsight, I should have paid a handyman to install the ceiling fan itself since electrical labor rates are so much higher!

I purchased a Big Deal, I believe it was for $140. I was able to apply it immediately to the plumbing services I requested. They were able to get the work done without going over the value of the Big Deal I purchased, I was very happy about that!

Great experience. Showed up on time, worked fast, friendly manner, didn't try to upsell, just did the job that needed to be done.

He replaced a switch, fixed two lights - one indoor and one outdoor - repaired some sagging power lines and then gave us estimates on other work.

Electrician arrived ahead of time. (With my approval) Preceded to complete the required work with professionalism and expertise. Very courteous and respectful. An enjoyable experience. Look forward to using again.

He did the work and he was really nice. When I turned the water on after he had left it was leaking. He came right back and fixed the issue. It has worked well since.

Professional, punctual, knowledgable, easy to deal with

Church Services came in and checked my air conditioning unit out. They were prompt, courteous, thorough and that's it. They came in. They did their job. They were neat.

They responded very fast and they were very efficient. I am very satisfied with this Big Deal. The technician did his job well; he came on time and did exactly what I needed.

I had called another company to check on a water leakage that i had, the company never showed up, so i called Church Services and they had someone there an hour after i had called. The plumber was able to detect the source of the leakage, which was not from my apartment. Although they did not do any actual repairs, their timeliness and professionalisim was well appreciated.

Chuch did the work in an efficient and professional manner. The plumber was knowledgeable and curteous. They showed up on time and called me ahead of time to let me know they were on there way. I'm always on the lookout for a good plumber and I've definitely found one.

When I set up the appt. I made sure to tell them the ceiling fan was going to be installed in vaulted ceiling so they needed to send out electrician with TALL ladder.

DO NOT EXPECT CHURCH SERVICES TO RESPECT YOUR TIME OR KEEP ITS COMMITMENTS. I literally do not remember the last time I was treated so poorly by a service company. We booked the first visit of a 4-per-year package over a week in advance, for Thursday morning (3/7), in the 8am to noon time slot. I got a call late Wednesday afternoon from "Sue" who informed me that they had booked a 4-hour job for my same timeslot - so the tech would now be at my house between 7-730 am. I told her that was not acceptable - not only do I have a 2-year-old, I am 7 months pregnant and have a broken foot/on crutches, so 7am is not a workable time. Sue rudely told me that she didn't want the tech driving all the way back here (Pearland) after driving out to the 4-hour job (because the tech lives in Friendswood). I asked if another tech could do the job, since mine was scheduled a week in advance and she huffed/puffed and suggested afternoon instead. In an effort to be cooperative, I agreed to let the tech come at 4 pm Thursday instead. Sue specifically committed that the tech would be coming AT 4 - not within a range of time - and also specifically committed that they would call me if there would be any deviation from that. So, we changed our plans to be home at 4pm Thursday, although we had obligations in the evening. 4pm passed with no call and no tech. At 4:15 I finally called Church Services and spoke with Carl or Carla (not sure), who first claimed that the tech was "still on schedule because it's only a little past 4." When confronted about that, he then actually looked at what the tech was doing, and informed me that the tech WAS STILL PERFORMING THE JOB BEFORE OURS - so there was no way he would be there before 5, if even 5:30 pm. Totally unacceptable. Apparently no one was going to bother to call and tell us this, either - so I consider that to be a no-show. I told him to just cancel our service, as we needed to leave (it was now past 4:30) and this made TWO appointments that the company proved it could not/would not keep. He said techs had called in sick that day, asked if the tech could come the following morning, and offered an extra visit for our trouble. We specifically discussed that IF we were going to agree to let this be rescheduled a THIRD time, we needed a specific arrival time. He told us he would put us in as "first call" and that the tech would be there at 8:30 am on Friday (3/8). We specifically discussed that the tech WOULD NOT be arriving any earlier than that -- I specifically informed them that we COULD NOT DO a 7 or 730 am arrival time due to the issues mentioned above. He acknowledged that, agreed, and promised an 8:30 appointment. This morning (3/8), I got woken up by a call from Sue saying that the tech was going to be at my house within 10 minutes. Disoriented, I assumed I had overslept and didn't see what time it was. Turns out it was a little before 7:20 am, and sure enough the tech was indeed at my house before 7:30 am. EXACTLY WHAT THEY PROMISED WOULD NOT HAPPEN. My child was still asleep and I wasn't even dressed yet. We tried to call back but got the answering service, because the office wasn't even open yet. After speaking with a series of new people in the main office, Carrie told us that "Carl" had just put us down as "first call," which apparently means a 7 or 7:30 am arrival time, with no notation whatsoever about arriving at 8:30 am. And keep in mind, this was the THIRD attempt - so even with customers they have already jerked around twice, this company still clearly did not care about making things right! I didn't even have the opportunity to cancel as the tech was already at our house. However, I certainly won't be keeping the yearly contract after this - no one in their right mind would sign up for this kind of trouble 4 times a year. Carrie also promised me (around 7:45 am) that Customer Service Mgr Jim would be calling me ASAP to address this issue. Well, it's 6:15 PM now and still no call from Jim. Apparently the customer service manager doesn't care about customer service, either! I will NEVER use this company again, and will be telling everyone I know not to use them either.

My experience was neither satisfactory nor unsatisfactory overall. I purchased a coupon for 2 hours of work valued at 199 for 144. When I called to schedule the work the guy who answered had no idea what I was talking about and consequently the serviceman arrived with a work order that was not what I had called for. The work could therefore not be done that day, nor could my coupon I'd already paid for be used for the service. We had to reschedule. The technician called the office and they applied the $144 toward my much larger estimate, but I did not recieve the discount I had purchased because they applied the 144 not the 199. I liked the technician and am confident in his work. I am neither impressed nor completely dissatisfied with my experience overall.

Went well, got sinks upstopped, advised what product to use to prevent buildup. I thought the price was high, but he did a great job. I most likely would use Church Services again.

Purchased the coupon for 2 hours of work. He came in, went straight to work, and completed the jobs. He even helped me decipher what wires were going where on the outside of my house after the 2 hours were done. Very impressed with the services.

It all went very well. Prompt on time service. Good people doing the job. No contractors!!!

The electrician was friendly. We were not happy in this case that Church Services advertised they could do the entire thing for the bathroom fan but they were unable to do the vent work. The work that they did do was fine. They over-promised what they could accomplish however.

They just did the work and it was fine. There was nothing that stood out and there was nothing negative. The end result was fine. They were nice people. The guy who came out was nice. He had to come out and recede the toilet the second time. He did that without any questions and no hassles.

Overall did a great job. Happy with the product and installation.

I have another coupon for Church Services pending which I will use pretty soon. The experience was good in both cases. They showed up on time, they were clean, they did the job. They were both very nice and I thought that I got a good value. They were reliable.

I asked them what the $111go for and they said it was for just coming out and checking what needs to be done. I told him that I already know what needs to be done and asked him what he is going to charge me when he gets here. He then told me that they don't charge for service call and that they charge for what they do. When they got through with me the other day, a rubber casket in the bottom of my toilet where it was dripping. And when they went outside, I said that they just need some washers for the faucets and they replied that they don't do washers and that they would just go to Home Depot and buy the faucets. So when they got through it was $280, but when I went over and checked the parts prices I found they did a rip off.
