we have always been happy with them. always on time.. very polite.. reasonable prices.. basically nice people to deal with. Church Services had a deal for 25% off the whole shebang that ended at the end of Dec. 31st, I think, or Jan 1st. So I called on December 30th to get a free estimate on the work. The estimator/saleswoman arrived soon after I called, did a good job of checking out my old system, showing me the options, and making recommendations. She was very helpful and informative. It didn't seem like she was "over-selling" or anything, pretty straightforward. After agreeing to the new system and services to be provided, she scheduled the installation for the following day, Dec. 31st. It was to take place from around 8:00am to 3:00pm or so. The crew showed up the following morning just before 8am and got right to work. They put moving blankets on my new hardwood floor along their path to the attic access ladder. They demolished and removed the old and installed the new. After a little while, I left the house to let them work, thinking I had until about 3pm. They called me at noon to say they were finished! They made quick work of it all. So I headed back to the house to see how to work the thermostat, and then they left. They left the house acceptably clean. They let my cat out of my master bathroom, where I was keeping her out of their way and away from the scary noises and strangers. I thought that was odd. Maybe they needed to check the vent in there and she ran out. No harm though. I think my only real complaint and the reason I gave a B-score on Quality is that they managed to put a few dings in my new hardwood floor, like they dropped heavy metal objects on it. Two of the dings are easily noticeable to the naked eye from standing height because they were deep enough to expose some of the light wood under the darker finish. I will have to use stain to darken the exposed wood and make them less visible. It probably wouldn't bother me as much if the floor had been older, but my dad and I just installed the new floor ourselves this year. Perhaps the crew was in too much of a rush that they made the mistake of dropping things on the floor. If I had the option, I would give an overall score of A- or B+ for the review because of the dings in the floor.
Description of Work: Replaced my condenser, demolished and removed my old furnace and air conditioning coil, replaced with new furnace and coil, new pan, added a new air return/intake, replaced a little bit of the old insulated piping near the system. Basically a big HVAC overhaul.

Mr. Neiman from Church Services recommended 32 piers be installed at a cost of $12,000. The measurements taken were outside of acceptable tolerances but we are first going to have some trees next to the foundation removed to see if that would have a sufficient effect on the foundation.
Description of Work: Mr. Neiman used a water level to measure the interior of the house and did a thorough exterior visual inspection. He was very professional and courteous as well as generous with his time. He patiently answered our many questions.

Plumber was 2 hours late for unknown reasons. At some point he left to buy some plumbing supplies. When he didn't return for a very long time, I finally called Customer Service at 9:30 p.m. and received their answering service. The answering service wasn't helpful. The plumber finally returned to my house at 9:45 p.m. He performed the services, and left just before 12:00 midnight.

They worked hard and cleaned everything up. Put plastic where it needed as well as cardboard to keep the corners safe. The owner dvised me on some tips about the after care. They were extremely professional. Did everything they were supposed to do.

I called Church Services on Saturday to schedule an appointment to fix a loose breaker in my box and to install some AFCI's. I was given a choice of appointment times, and chose 2-6 pm on Monday. On Monday, I took a half-day at work in order to be there when the electrician arrived. At 6 when he still hadn't called or arrived, I contacted the service center again. He didn't show up because whoever I talked to on Saturday didn't bother to actually schedule an appointment. In fact, there was no record of my having called at all. The new representative offered to schedule me for a Saturday, but they weren't available, nor would I actually trust them to show up to do the work. I won't be wasting my time hoping and praying that Church Services actually schedules appointments when customers call. Instead, I'll go to a competitor who actually wants and values my business.

I contacted Church Services to come out and take a look at a smoke alarm that had died in my home. I had used them before for a couple of much larger repairs and they were always efficient and professional. The electrician showed up in the appointed time range. He made the repair but, before he left, insisted my wife provide him with a credit card number to pay for the repair. I usually pay the head office by credit card or check as it is poor business practice to remit payment to the guy doing the work (unless he's the owner) but my wife didn't want to argue. A couple days later, as I was traveling out of town for business, I started getting calls from Church Services to: 1) have someone return to my house to recover some tools/materials left behind, and 2) get my payment information. I said "sure" to request #1 with the proviso that they do so after I return from my business trip and then have the technician call me first when he does intend to come over and, for #2, asked that they check with the electrician who took our info back on the day the work was done (I didn't want to be charged twice). Well, I return home to Houston and the following week, while I am at work again, the electrician goes to my house unannounced (with only my nanny and small children home) and proceeds to ring the door bell and pound on the door until both my kids are crying and the nanny (who is under instructions not to let anyone in the house without our prior permission) has no choice but to answer the door and let the guy get his stuff. Okay, great... then I get a call a few days later to get the payment info AGAIN this time with the story that the electrician destroyed all his tickets so the information was lost. What on earth did the technician do with my wife's credit card info?! Has our financial information been compromised/stolen?! Seriously, what kind of outfit is run like this. I did call Church Services to discuss the conduct with a manager but he had "left for the day" so I had no option but to leave a voicemail. As would be expected, there was never a return call back. I would sum up the entire experience in one word: UNPROFESSIONAL. Houston is a big city and there are plenty of other good electricians to choose from (as Angie's List proves)... I will be going elsewhere in the future.

The diagnostic call was free. But the cost of fixing a couple of switches was $385. Which is too expensive. Must have spend less an hour max. I just wanted to get over with it and did not have time to get another electrician to come and fix it- so I got it fix from Church Services. I paid by credit card, but still have not got an email receipt of the same. Also, I am still waiting for an email stating what was fixed - but I have not gotten on so far. May be I will get one in the next few days.

Talk about service with a capitol "S"....Church Services exceed all my expectations. We thought we simply had a slow drain from our kitchen sink. Initially we contacted a highly rated plumbing service that had done work for a relative. Over a 2 day period, they assessed the problem, concluding that there was a break in the line between kitchen and main drain. Our house is 50 years old so no real shock. The shock came with the estimated repair cost of $20,000.00. We sought a second opinion from another highly rated service who arrived at a similar conclusion but estimated $10,000.00 for the job. Fortunately a colleague of my spouse got in touch with her plumber who works with Church. JR Hernandez and his apprentice showed up precisely on time and spent the next 6 hours working on the system. First they discovered that the line was not broken, rather had significant plastic "trash" in the line which they were able to break loose. (Note: they found this with their camera - their snake was ineffective as was the snake that the first provider used. That said, the first provider's camera did not show the blockage that Church/JR found and dislodged). After breaking the trash loose and flushing it to the sewer, the line flowed freely. They then did a static test on the entire plumbing system to see if there were other leaks. As luck would have it, there was a leak requiring them to test each section of the system, one at a time to isolate it. As all this was taking place, JR was drawing me schematics explaining what he was doing, looking for, and finding. Finally the leak was located and evaluated. By the next day, we received a detailed drawing and specific steps proposed to resolve the issue along with a dollar amount. The work is still expensive because it requires a tunnel be dug under the foundation but Church's bid at $5K is much less than the original proposal which had mis-diagnosed the problem and, if performed, would not have fixed the real issue!! Even as a relatively sophisticated consumer, I'm still pretty much at the mercy of those who provide home services such as plumbers, electricians, etc. and the only defense I have is to solicit more than one bid and use Angies List or similar. I can only say that when it comes to plumbing, Church and specifically their technician, JR Hernandez will be certain to receive my business when the need arises (I'm hopeful, not soon!!!)

was hoping that I could get my leaky kitchen sink and toilet repaired, but all he did was tell me what needed to be replaced. Maybe that was appropriate, but it seemed like a waste of time when nothing was repaired. I was left feeling that I needed another plumber check and opinion, so maybe a waste of money too. It seemed like he was tired, , but I didn't feel like he was particularly interested in helping.

My home was built in 1955 by Offenburger Builders and I had a cast iron pipe break under the slab. This was not my first RODEO I had an under the slab leak in my kitchen not once but twice. First repair was performed by DONALSON BROS Plumbing Co located in Bellaire. They only did a partial repair. My pipes broke again in the kitchen different area this time at the back wall of the house. The second kitchen break was performed by Herndon Muncey. Herndon Muncey performance was NOT AN EXCELLENT JOB but "JUST A GOOD JOB" The pipes broke once again. This time the problem was with the two bathrooms OPPOSITE side of the house. I decided to use a different plumbing company. I chose Church Services to perform the leak detection. John Neiman came out located all sewer lines, identified the primary leak and quoted me a price. It took two weeks before the job the job was finally started. The crew finally arrived on time but in a plain white truck no logo or nothing saying who they were. Once Church Services personnel identified they were with Church Services the work began. More problems no one could speak a lick of English... So here I was needing to communicate to people that could not speak English. No master plumber was on site and NO John Neiman ( salesperson) just hard workers. I called John, I was told he would address my concerns in which he did. However once John Neiman left I was back to square one...No communications to the workers. Master plumber came on site for approximately 15 minutes I asked for them to install a bathroom fixture. The Master plumber told me NO because that was not their department. The Master Plumber instructed me I would have to call to Church Services ask for the department I would have to pay a service charge to have someone to come out to give me a price. REALLY... I am paying 7k for services I DID NOT have a problem paying extra for the faucet to be installed but Church Services was working on the bathrooms. But to pay a service charge. That is totally ridiculous. The work was done pictures were taken, inspection done, however we will not talk about how horrible the City of Houston inspector was. The inspector concern was were he was to meet someone at lunch which was to be in about 20 The inspector stayed on the phone the entire inspection making lunch plans to meet someone in 20 minutes (BBQ place located on Navigation Street) I told the inspector the workers did the job there was never a plumber present... The inspector response to me was: "I should have taken pictures to prove my point but there was nothing he could do now because the work was completed. What a jackxxx! Church Services tunneled under my slab about 4-feet down and about 10 -12 feet across(see pictures) Cost was 7k Now what is happening to my home I am hearing cracking/breaking sounds. At first I has NO idea what the noise sound I was hearing. I have lived in this house since 1977 Now it is 2014. "37 Years" Living in this house. I has NEVER HEARD these sounds before. Church Services put stress on my foundation which has NOW HAS CAUSED CRACKS IN MY SHEET-ROOK THE CRACKS ARE STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN CRACKS... Which shows it is stress cracks. In my hallway my sheetrock is cracking severely and I have cracks like you would not believe. I inquired to John Neiman about the need to possible supporting my foundation. His answer was WE DI THIS ALL THE TIME SUPPORT IS NOT NEEDED. I am now facing MAJOR foundation PROBLEMS. WHICH I DID NOT HAVE BEFORE. Thank you Church Services...I now have foundation problems that NEVER EXISTED BEFORE. Last note: Church Services has never called me to rectify my problems/concerns C.Plair

Thank you for your input regarding the under slab plumbing repair job that was performed on your home in May 2013. Over the course of the last few years we have expanded our operations and the unfortunate by product is that some of our trucks are unmarked. We are constantly addressing this issue, upgrading and improving our fleet of vehicles and the identification of the vehicles. Communication on the job site is one of the biggest challenges we have. The type of work involved in this type of repair is physically demanding and the personnel able to perform this work are not always the best communicators whether their native language is Spanish or English but we are always striving to make all our employees from the managers and estimators all the way through the laborers more effective in their communications. We must apologize for informing you that you would need to pay a service charge to have the demand service department come out to install a new faucet. That should not have happened and was a mistake on our part. Yes another department would have needed to install the faucet and yes there would have been an additional charge, but there should not have been a service charge associated with that service call. In performing these types of repairs we ensure that we have the staff present to meet the licensing requirements of the State and Municipalities that we operate in. Typically what we have found over the last 25 years of performing Foundation and under slab plumbing repairs is that when there is a plumbing leak under the house there is also typically an imbalance in the moisture content of the soil under the house. After the leak is fixed the moisture content then normalizes and can cause some minor shifting in the house which can cause cracking/popping noises and even minor sheetrock cracks. Typically straight up and down cracks are actually just the "tape and float" cracking at the seam in the sheet rock and or generally caused by minor movements. Diagonal sheet rock cracks are typical of larger more stressful movements that created enough force to actually break the sheet rock and are of much greater concern that a straight crack. We hope this customer will give us another chance to show we truly care with every repair and thank her for the feedback.
