Chimney & Wildlife Specialists - Houston

Hiram communicated well, arrived as planned and sent me photos of the next in the chimney. I purchased the cleaning package on Angie's list, but we advised when making the appt. that we thought we had some unwelcomed residents they'd need to deal with as well. He recommended sealing it after the cleaning, which was a no-brainer considering I'd just have him out a week later otherwise. He also noted our roof jacks were not sealed and that risked the little critters getting into much cozier accommodations in my attic, where they could do much more damage considering they have to chew constantly to keep their teeth down - Hiram said they grow an inch per day!!! He suggested I get a roofer out there to seal them up asap - which we did (see other review on Quandahl) and we are now looking forward to having the first fire in our fireplace this winter!!

Fast, efficient, and work around a busy schedule. Came and installed roof cap while I was at work. Was very honest and even though I called for a more expensive service let me know about a cheaper solution. Would definitely recommend.

We had an animal stuck in our chimney. I called Chimney & Wildlife Specialist early in the morning, and my call was answered immediately by Hiram Martinez. He was occupied that morning with another client, but said he would attend to our situation early that afternoon. He called later that morning to say that he was delayed by rain and would arrive at our house approximately an hour later than anticipated. He arrived promptly at the projected time, removed a bird from the chimney and indicated that the chimney cap was rusted through and needed to be replaced. His prices were set and reasonable: $189 for animal removal and $175 for chimney cap replacement. We had several questions about possible changes to the chimney; he was extremely knowledgeable and articulate in answering our questions and offering economical options. He cleaned our chimney ($89) and replaced the rear refractor panel ($250). He recommended that we add a smoke guard and showed me the website where we could order it online from another company. He wrote down for me all the exact details I need to order the exact smoke guard for our chimney. He worked efficiently and cleaned up everything after finishing the work. We were extremely impressed by his knowledge, honesty and efficiency. We will definitely have him back in the future to clean our chimney and for any other chimney modification we may decide to pursue in the future.

It went great. I called Chimney and WIldlife Specialists mid-morning based on the Angie's list reviews. Hiram was at the house by early afternoon and had the animals out and he fireplace cleaned up and back together in no time. He was extremely professional. I would highly recommend this company

Mr. Hiram Martinez, a Chimney and Wildlife Specialist with this company, returned my call within 30 minutes. He arrived at our house one hour later, as he had promised. He explained everything he was doing -- first he attempted to access the attic space over the guest bedroom; however, the slope of the ceiling prevented him from doing so. He noticed numerous rat droppings in a "path" throughout the attic. He located three points of access, where the rats were probably entering our attic. We told him that our next-door neighbors were trying to alleviate a terrible rat problem and that they had their exterminator place rat poison throughout their property. Mr. Martinez said the rats were probably "fleeing" to our house. When he was unable to find the dead rat, he sprayed a "fogging" disinfectant, in order to ameliorate the bad smell. Next, he closed the points of access that he had located. Finally, he set rat traps thoughout the attic and at various locations in our yard (we have no children or grandchildren who live with us). He will be back in a week to check these traps, as well as to ensure the rats have no other access points to our attic or walls. Mr. Martinez was at our home for about five hours -- on a Sunday!! We are extremely pleased with the service he provided, as well as with the reasonable cost for coming to our house on short notice, on a Sunday. He explained all costs prior to undertaking each step of the services rendered.

This is the second year we?ve used this company and we will absolutely use them next year. Hiram has been our technician for both years and he is fantastic! He has a special vacuum to collect all the chimney dust and when he left, our living room was cleaner than when he came! I?ve recommended him to my neighbors and several have used him and all are very pleased. I will definitely call them next spring!

Had a raccoon in our attic. Called the Houston phone # and spoke with Hiram. He stopped by within a few hours since he was already in the area. He assessed the situation, thoroughly explained our options (eviction via scent vs cages, different repair options, other ways to further critter-proof). We opted to use the scent liquid, which he spread around in the attic, and he put up a temporary tape cover on the entry hole to check for raccoon activity. A few days later after the raccoon had been "evicted" - as evidenced by no disturbance of the cardboard temporary cover I'd put up after the tape one had been destroyed - Hiram returned and put up the hardware cloth/chicken wire that we had opted for and was done very quickly. We chose not to go with a more expensive complete replacement of the trim board. All in all, very happy that we got rid of the raccoon without having to mess with traps and the repair work was done quickly and relatively cheaply.

The technician, Hiram, provided a very through explanation of issues/options, and we are extremely pleased with the professional service and excellent quality results.

I was very pleased with the company and the technician they sent to my home. Apparently, the main office is in Dallas, but they service the Houston area. The technician explained what he found wrong with my chimney, and I felt assured that I was in good hands. I scheduled them to paint the interior of the fireplace the next week. Everything looks perfect. I highly recommend this company.

He was prompt, professional, clean, kind, and explained everything he was doing. This is a dirty job that I would have NEVER done myself. There were 4 baby birds in the vent. His help was worth every cent in my opinion.

I called to have someone come out and do something about the birds that had taken up residence in our chimney. The guy showed up right on time and was extremely nice and professional. He took a look at the chimney and even when up on to the roof. He said that our chimney was in great shape overall, something you don't always see in homes this age. The birds were not currently in the chimeny at the time and if they did have eggs, they hadn't hatched yet. He explained that the best course of action was to put a cap on the chimney so the birds can't get back in. He showed us pictures of the top of our chimney and said that it was in good shape, but it did need a little of mortar work to fix some cracks which would cost $125. He gave us the option to do a full cap which would have cost $600, or we could do a smaller bird cap for $250. The full cap is completely custom, created exactly for our chimney. The bird cap would work, but he explained that they can fall off and that they do not offer a warranty on the bird cap. For budget reasons we told him we wanted the cheaper bird cap and the mortar. He never pushed us to go for the more expensive option. He said that he would actually be able to do it today if we wanted, we agreed and he ran to the store to get some mortar. He was back and got the chimney fix in no time and left no evidence that he had been here at all expect of the nice new cap. He showed us new pictures of our chimney which we were pleased with. Overall he was very professional, curtesous, and not at all pushy. We will use them again if we ever decide to go with the full cap.

Arrived on time and provided necessary inspection. They have noticed all the entry points in the attic and sealed all of them up.

My chimney did not do so well but the service was great

Chimney and Wildlife Services put me in touch with Hiram very quickly in the Houston area. Hiram was extremley responsive and came out the next day to do an estimate of a possible bird removal from my chimney. Hiram was profressional and above all HONEST. He was able to quickly determine that my problem was not a problem and he made no attempt to try and sell me on services I did not need. He took the time to explain to me what was going on and how my structure was constructed. This type of honesty these days goes a long way in the services industry. I would highly recommend Hiram and Chimney and Wildlife Services for the Houston area.

Josh was prompt and efficient. He was quite friendly and offered several useful suggestions about how the chimney and fireplace.

Scheduled an appointment for roughly 12 - 2 (or similar, might have been 11-1). Worker called an hour after appointment, still running late. We had other plans for the day so cancelled service.

Was able to scheduled appointment within a few days of me calling. I was given an arrival time of 3 hours - Carlos called when he was on his way and arrived exactly when he said he would; was very friendly and professional. He took extra time and covered floor in front of the fireplace to leave the area as clean (if not cleaner!) than when he arrived. He completed the job very quickly, made recommendations and provided written estimates before leaving. The only disappointment with the whole experience was when I learned from the technician that had I "purchased the service online at Angie's List" I could have gotten this done for $99 which would have saved me $37 :-( I still do not see how to do that on Angie's List - but I did have a coupon for 10% off, which saved me $14... but $37 would have been nice!!

Results were exactly as expected. Hiram and his partner showed up on time, did the work, and you would never know we'd just had fireplace work done they were so clean, We'll have them back soon to replace the chimney cap. Great guys, great company

My initial email contact resulted in a phone call the next morning. I scheduled a time (3 hour time frame, and on the day received a phone call from Hiram Martinez (technician) and he arrived on time. He was clean and thorough. He pointed out a few small cracks in the mortar and repaired them promptly. We discussed a chimney cap, he obtained one quickly and installed it. All of this was completed in a 2 hour 15 minute time frame. Excellent service and courtesy.

I had the Chimney and Wildlife Specialist of Houston come out to our home to do a routine chimney safety inspection and to look for any wildlife that may have been in the house, attic, or garage. They showed up to every appointment on time, we're very thorough, and did a wonderful job explaining to me all the problems they found with my chimney and the other things around our home. We had the come back after the chimney inspection and install a new chimney cap, seal the bricks inside the chimney and basically revamp the whole chimney itself. They did a wonderful job and I am very happy with their work, both on the chimney and the wildlife issues I had. They were very knowledgeable, polite, and got the job done right and in a great time frame.

Very professional and punctual. Used Angie coupon for chimney and drier vent cleaning job was well done. Upon cleaning chimney service provider found a large hole on top of chimney cap. He provided a job estimate and came back several days later with required equipment. Fixed the hole and placed a chimney cap on top. Job was very well done and timely adjusted procedures to minimize using roof so as not to damage the new roof .
