The technician said it was going to cost me $200.00 per shower, to unclog. But he said that may not be the problem. He said it could be in my toilets so he will have to charge me $375.00 per toilet, to lift them up and clear the clog. And he said that it could also be the main line and for him to unclog that, it will cost me $300.00. And said that in the end those may not even be the issue. Bottom line; he didn't know what was the problem but he wanted me to pay $1,450.00 just to check those things. And when I confirmed what he was wanting to do, I told him that I didn't want the work done. He proceeded to tell me I had to pay him $80.00 for coming out. I told him that someone from ARS called me to confirm the appointment and at that time, I asked about a service fee and I was told I would be getting a free estimate and that included the service fee. When he wanted me to sign an invoice, I told him I was not going to sign an invoice because I didn't want the service. He laughed in my face and walked away.
Description of Work: I needed the drains in my showers unclogged.

Guy came by, looked at leak area, and quoted me a price of $3000 to fix it, including running about 30 ft of new line. When ditch crew finished putting new line in ground, they discovered that the leak was actually in neighbor's line. Got the price rescinded, but yard still a mess. They delivered the tie-in material anyway, and it still sits in my front yard (tried to call their management, left a message, no response). Neighbor's plumber came out the next day, took about 2 hours and 2 ft of ditch to fix the leak.

From start to finish ARS was on top of everything from responsive call backs to staying late to get the job done. The guys on our project worked long and hard in the Houston summer heat. I never saw one of the guys not working or killing time. Everyone exercised exceptional professionalism and top notch customer service. Even 6 months later the tech who came out to make sure our unit was working like it should, was very professional, friendly and courteous. The cost was a pretty penny;however the project was worth every dime.
Description of Work: ARS replaced our condenser unit and evaporator unit. They also moved the evaporator into the attic for us per our request.

ARS is excellent! When I called them, they actually sent a plumber out to look at the job, not a salesman. This plumber gave an accurate assessment of what needed to be done, held to their pricing after the work was done, and have very reasonable pricing overall.
Description of Work: They replaced an outdoor hose faucets in my front yard, fixed a dishwasher line that was leaking, and replaced hot and cold water knobs.

I watched them do the job. They soldered on a new copper pipe in the interior of my home to get the right length to install the exterior bib. It's been eight years since the work was done and I've never had an issue.

I didn’t notice until they left. I looked at my ceiling and there was water stain and no one had been in my attic but them. I called them and told them and they didn’t do anything about it. I will never use ARS again. The price was good and that was what attracted me.

Advertised $69 but didn't specify it needed to be for an outside clean out for the kitchen and my kitchen has a clean out but goes to the mainline and not directly to the outside. We worked out a compromise on the price to get the work done. The service tech was very polite and patient with the questions and the back and forth.
Description of Work: Our kitchen sink needed to be snaked due to build up in the line.

ARS came out because we had mud and dirt in our main bathroom sink. Turns out it was a busted pipe and the only thing holding it in place was the dirt under it. Next thing we know, (company) Plumbing shows up to do the work. According to them, they replaced 25 ft of cast iron with pvc. I know they were up under the ending of my hallway and beginning of the living room, about what the foundation repair guy said was about 8-10 feet. We had to have foundation repair done and when they dug the hole in the hallway about 8 feet from the beginning of where the plumber started, they found a busted pipe and water in the hole. They called out a plumber and I told him what happened when the plumber came out to do the work. He said there is no way they replaced that much pipe. He said they may have used 25ft of pipe but if they did 25 ft, they would have been up by my front door. I got ahold of the owner of (company name) plumbing and he said they lied that it WAS 25 ft of cast iron replaced. I told him there was water in the hole but he said it was replaced. I asked him since ARS were the ones to come out, how did it come about that he did the work and he said he was sub contracted by ARS. They were here 5 out of 6 days due to weather, but after talking with him on a daily basis, I found out him and his partner used to work for ARS. I asked him about the billing and he said when the job is done, he bills ARS and they pay him. ARS then in turn bills the HOA BUT the HOA didn't know anything about them being here so my landlady/owner paid ARS when she wasn't supposed to. The guys at (company name) Plumbing were very friendly and professional but I don't know how much cast iron pipe was really replaced. ARS said they don't use subs but they clearly do. I would never do business with ARS again wether I paid for the service or not. I did call my landlady and told her that she wasn't supposed to pay ARS that the HOA was and ARS knew this when they sent the plumber out. The landlady asked me to get an invoice when the job was done but nobody knew anything about it and couldn't give me one. I tried getting the information because she is an elderly lady and I will NOT see her taken advantage of. Her daughter said they were going to find the receipt and go from there. I only hope she can get her money back because it was in excess of $6000 according to the plumber that actually did the work

I am so disappointed in this company! They sent someone out for service on my AC which was out. The service man went into the attic, outside and after 5 minutes told me I needed $4,000 worth of service/equipment. My doorbell camera showed he arrived at 2:53 and was out the door at 3:11. That was him looking at the AC, telling me what I needed, and answering several of my questions, 18 minutes total. He said I needed an evaporator coil because mine was leaking freon and a capacitor. The capacitor (which this "professional" misspelled on the receipt) was only a $341 repair. He didn't offer an alternative and when I said that was the price of a new unit he told me a new unit would be $10,000. That price is a seriously exaggerated estimate for a unit sufficient for a home the size of mine. He charged me a $94.95 service fee which included an additional charge of $15 that was not disclosed to me when I called. My son and I spent a second night in a home that never cooled off lower than 85 degrees. I called a competing company the next day and they asked how the tech knew there was a leak if the capacitor wasn't functioning. He said there was no way he could get a gauge reading if the capacitor wasn't working. Keep in mind he carried the gauge with him both outside & to the attic. This company could not come out for me that day but advised me even if I decide not to use them I should have another company come out for a second opinion. I found another serviceman and former ARS employee who was able to come out. He replaced the capacitor, checked the freon level (which was fine) and the AC is up and running. This cost me $200. Additionally, when I called this tech he also questioned the ability to confirm a leak if the capacitor wasn't functioning. ARS was perfectly fine with taking a service fee from me, walking out the door, and allowing my son and I to remain in a hot home during the Texas summer heat. All so they could make 11x the amount that was really required to get my AC functioning again. Shame on you ARS!

I would tell a friend to be prepared to hold their hand. They weren't as fast as they had hoped they were and it dragged out for two weeks instead of three days. They got it done, it just wasn't easy.

Going through my Home Depot recommended seller / installers I purchased 2 complete a/c system 3 years ago from ARS here in Houston and each year I have paid the maintenance fee to have them perform the annual summer / winter services. The salesman that sold me the system told me that as long as I had them do the annual services that I had a lifetime warranty (first mistake believing this). The second year one service tech said the (new) system needed some additional minor service for $200. and I said o.k. after which he had me make the check out to him not ARS (my second mistake). Leading into this year they sold me surge protectors for both units NOW telling me that if the system was damaged by an electrical surge the warranty would not cover it. Why didn't they put this in the original 20K bill? Then a few months ago one of the (communicating) thermostats went out which is not the everyday thermostat. I called and scheduled to have it replaced along with the summer service / check up. The tech arrived for the service but did not have a thermostat and knew nothing about it and could not do the service. When I called in to inquire why,.the dispatcher told me they canceled the t-stat order but no explanation. I placed a second order for the service & t-stat. The service tech arrived and informed me that the thermostat was $460.00 plus labor for running a new wire due to the replacement t-stat requiring 5 wires and the old wiring only had 4. Now my systems have a 10 YEAR WARRANTY including the THERMOSTAT. They have refused to honor the warranty they sold me with the systems. The lady on the order desk verified my warranty and could not understand this. The lady in customer service that told me they would straighten this out and citing they just had a management problem NEVER called me back to correct their failure to honor their product. I would not recommend ARS to anyone, I had recommended them in the first year to 3 friends, one they tried to rip off, one threw the service tech out within minutes and the other said the service was just o.k. You would think that a company with this name would be on top servicing what they sell and CUSTOMER SERVICE. I give them a "F" and do not recommend them for any service or repair.
Description of Work: They sent the first service technician to my house with no knowledge of / or replacement parts for the failed part. Sent the second service technician to my house with a replacement part for the failed part AND a bill for the part & labor to install it (part has a 10 year warranty and is 3 years old). What they did not do: Failed to honor their warranty on the the product they sold me, failed to respond to my requests to repair the failure under warranty, customer service failed to correct what they promised and has never called back.

They were three hours late, requiring my wife to miss appointments she had made during the day waiting for them to even show up. The dispatch lady was extremely rude and denied the promised service time. Sloppy work and terrible etiquette. These guys are not honest. My fault for not doing more research before. They are terrible, never hire, I urge everyone looking for an AC repair company to look elsewhere and avoid at all costs. HUGE RIPOFF!! Very poor work. Check out reviews on yelp and google they tell the story as well. They should not be in business, much better service companies around. I feel like I was robbed. All they did was replace the evaporator coil and add a reme light and charged 7000 dollars. This should have been half that at most. These people should not be in business, it is criminal what they have done to us. Still trying to get them to fix the repairs they did. The duct work is leaking still AND the areas where they where they took out the old coil are leaking too! So even their new work is shoddy. The thermostat is running 4 degrees above setpoint, when it was tuning only 2 degrees above before they did the repairs!! (It's worse!) Would not recommend, and will never use again.

Its two steps I think that when the equipment was install they had it was almost went down on street corner and got some guys to put the system in but for service and everything they are highly qualified they do a good job.

They are price gougers and they try to recommend what you don’t need instead of making a quick fix. The guy came out and the first thing he told me was that I needed a new garbage disposal that was five hundred and something dollars. There is a little reset button on the garbage disposal he took a little wrench and that’s all it took. He charged me a $150.

The guy showed up on a Friday and he was late to begin with. Even though they give you a four hour window that you have to be here he was still late outside that four hour window. He came in and started looking. The whole time he was here he was trying to sell me something. I would periodically ask him what some of the services cost that he proposed but when I heard his pricing I said no. At the end he was looking at my A/C unit and told me the unit was low on Freon. I asked him how much it was going to cost for the Freon and he told me it would cost $150 for the first pound and $50 or $75 a pound thereafter. I said no thank you. That was outrageous. Later in the evening we discovered our A/C unit was not cooling anymore. We called out a supervisor who told us there was a Freon leak in the system somewhere and that it was not their fault that my system was not working. They said they would be there Saturday morning but they did not show up until about 6 p.m. Saturday. I called a friend and he said they ended up putting five or six pounds of Freon in my system. I thought about calling the attorney general but they told me the problem was that it would be my word against theirs, but that it sounded like fraud because he basically let the Freon out of my unit. We had absolutely no problems with the unit before they came out and there was absolutely no way my unit would have cooling because of how much Freon was missing. The price for the initial call was excellent but the price for everything he wanted to do was ridiculous. They were all very nice and professional.
Description of Work: It was very bad from ARS -- never again. I used them for a $30 A/C checkup.

We did not really have a good experience with them. We had an annual service agreement with them. Their prices did not match the level of service. They were very responsive.

I would have give a better grading than a C if I did not found out that they have charge me an arm and a leg to replace my water heater. I have to say they are punctual and did a good job and have everything done quickly. However, is it worth $600 extra than other companies? It is my fault for not shopping around and compare the quotes. I was naive thinking that their price compairable with other companies since we have use them before for some other plumbing problems.

Description of Work: Nothing right. It's now 2pm 11-24-2015 and the partnership of Home-Depot and ARS has missed to 10-2 appointment times to provide a quote on a mini-split AC system for my home in SW Houston. On neither occasion was a heads-up of "delay" given. I had to make the calls. Nor did they apparently plan to present, as requested, brochures or pictures of the planned solution I was NEVER given. I did receive prior-day calls acknowledging a ZERO had been left out of my street address and they couldn't find me. Well, what can you say?
