Overall, this was a great experience especially since I was taking a shot in the dark by just picking the first company with a consistent A rating on Angie's List. Thank you Angie's List for helping me choose a great company for the job! You saved me a lot of time and homework and I appreciate that!!!

They are a rip off. ARS is notorious for being overpriced. They gave me a quote to repair a place on my gas heater for $1200.00 and I called other places and had it done for $300.00. They would come out and make a repair and always find something else that was wrong and wouldn't be covered under my warranty. I tell everyone I know, not to use them.

Home Depot offered a seasonal checkup of the AC unit in my home and contracted out ARS to perform the checkup. The technician was prompt, however after spending quote some time inspecting the unit in the attic, he came down and told me a drain pan would need to be installed to prevent damage should the drain be clogged. He also said that there was no overflow drain pipe and that one would need to be added. I took him into the attic after telling him that I was certain both existed and he finally relented, agreeing that there was one in place already, but suggesting that I would need a larger drain pan that wasn't part of the unit.The technician then looked at the outside unit and came back inside claiming that a series of electrical pieces would need to be replaced as they were losing their capacity. The technician quoted about $700 worth of parts and labor to lubricate the pieces outside and replace a series of items that were, according to the technician, fully functional and warning that if I did not do so, the unit would fail and would need to be replaced.I initially thought I had little choice and the technician began getting the parts out of his van while I called my father, a licensed electrician in another state who had worked in HVAC for over 10 years and recounted the repairs the technician had quoted and my father suggested I ask the gentleman to leave the property and never contract this company again as the work quoted that needed to be performed was dubious at best to outright fraudulent.When I asked the technician to leave, saying that I would not be able to pay for the repairs, he insisted that he would need to contact his manager to see if he could stop performing the work as I had already signed paperwork authorizing the repairs. After about 5 minutes, the manager gave him the okay to leave, performing no additional work. Immediately after he left, I noticed that the emergency overflow drain pipe had begun dripping outside and has continued to do so to this day. I attempted to go into the attic myself to figure out what must have been moved or changed to cause the main drain to no longer drain water. A few days later, ARS contacted me with a survey and I told them what had happened and they offered to come out to repair the situation, however I did not hear back.

He was excellent. He was friendly, punctual, and professional. The price was well within the norm. He has done other work for us too. I would use this provider again.

They call when it's time for the checks and everything has turned out just fine.

Overall, everything is good. I like how the company is ran. When I call they know who I am and where I am at. They can tell me when someone will come to do the work. They will also give me a window when they will come, which is nice. They are always on time.

We are quite pleased with their work. They did well. They did well. They were prompt which I think is quite helpful.

They do a great job. They charge a little more than other companies but I know the work is going to be done well and in a timely manner. They are reliable and show up quickly.

The next morning ARS installed the new tank. It was done very quickly and with no major disruption to daily household events. The tank is in the attic and I slept through the whole event. We chose an expensive new tank and the installation was painless and worth it. Also there was a repair to a dripping faucet on the same bill. ARS has always responded quickly when we need immediate help. I wouldn't think of going elsewhere for anything that ARS services.

The first individual to assess the situation was very professional and informed us that we needed a new unit. The following day a unit of service persons came out and removed the old unit and installed a new unit. They appeared very professional - protected the flooring, removed all of old unit, etc. Prior to completion my husband happened to walk down the hallway and noticed one of the service persons pushing the sheetrock back up. He mentioned this to the person who stated that the damage already existed although my husband observed him pushing the sheetrock back up. The service person stated that he would report this incident to the main office and my husband wrote a check for the entire amount. We contacted the office the following Monday in that job was done on a Saturday and were informed that the service person did not assume responsibility for it and they would not pay for the damage. My husband quickly cancelled the check and tried to negotiate repair of damage with them. They never came out to inspect the damage. I have pictures to validate the location which was directly under where the unit was repaired. The person we spoke to was not customer friendly at all. She insisted that they were not responsible and would not repair or pay for repairs. We would have appreciated it if they would have just given us the consideration of coming out to inspect the damage. We had the ceiling repaired and sent them a bill which they still refused to pay. My husband then sent a check for the amount of the bill minus the repair. It doesn't make sense how inconsiderate they were in that the repair was less than $100. Any customer service oriented company would have at least came out to inspect and not adamantly state that they were not responsible. The person to whom we spoke was very rude. We had problems with the air conditioning unit and had to pay another company for service because ARS would not service unless we paid the difference.We therefore have no warranty on the work which was done. We also had a service contract with them which we have not renewed and had to pay for spring air conditioning check/maintenance service.

They were punctual and their fee wasn't bad; they weren't terrible, but they just missed the problem. I had to have someone come out and redo their work. I would not use them again in the future.

They did a pretty good job for me. They did what they said they were going to do. I got charged what they told me they were going to charge me. They came out when they said, and I have been real pleased with them whenever I have problems. If I have another problem they are exactly who I am going to call.

The technician was several hours late to my appointment, but did complete the job satisfactorily. I later learned from a different electrician from a different company that they could have done the same job for half the price. I'd use them again if nobody else would take the job. But, I'd prefer someone who could show up on time and do the job for less money.

We had a sewage back-up in the house on the afternoon of January 4th. Early evening an ARS technician came out, identified a stoppage problem with the sewer drain pipe in the backyard, but was unsuccessful in unplugging it. While not knowing exactly where the problem was, he made us sign a work order for a 15-20 foot repair/ replacement of sewer line in backyard, at a cost of $ 3500, which included some demolition of patio tile floor. On January 5th two subcontractors started the work around 11.00 am and after 1.5 hours of cutting patio tile and digging a 6-feet long/ 2 feet deep trench, identified the problem area, which required replacement of 6 or 7 feet of PVC pipe to fix. Had they stuck with the job, the entire project could have been completed in 4 hours. Instead, they disappeared for the rest of the day, came back at 5pm to say they would come back the next day to fix it. Having been without use of plumbing in the house for 24 hours at that point, my wife read them the riot act, after which they reluctantly agreed to finish the sewer line replacement then, which took them 1.5 hours to complete. Although the execution was rather unprofessional, the end result seemed ok. The worst part of this job was the billing. The scope of the project turned out to be significantly less than estimated. I did not think that 8 hours of labor, less than $100 for parts and $ 300 for a city inspection added up to $3500; even $1000 would have been rather generous. I requested an itemized invoice for actual work done, not the overblown estimate. I needed this for the insurance company who would pay for patio floor demolition work, but not for plumbing outside the foundation. ARS first refused to issue a proper invoice, I already had a copy of the signed work order and that was it. They also refused to budge on price because 'I had agreed on the price'. Only after a series of letters, phone calls and mutual threats of legal action, we finally settled on a $ 1500 payment on February 29th, 2012. Needless to say we will never use this company again.

I've used them several times. I am happy with them, however, I do think their prices are a little high. They are always on time and professional. They stick to their prices.
