Response from Appliance Service of Houston
Prior to all service, we provide the cost of repair to the customer (e.g.: parts, labor and tax). Our service with this customer was no different. The customer had an option of repairing the appliance with our company or not. The customer approved the service. The cost was: $165.96 (main electronic control board), $175.50 (labor), which was discounted by 10% as a new customer, and $28.17 (tax), which totaled $369.63. Unfortunately and occasionally, we encounter customers that seemingly attempt to correlate "actual time spent in the home" with the total cost of repair. We do not have hourly rates! Our fees are based upon a culmination of such aspects as the degree and/or nature of difficulty of service provided, the need to retrieve parts from a local or remote parts distributor or whether the part is already in our company inventory, time involved with the actual repair, distance to and from the customer's location, and the cost of parts plus applicable taxation. Apparently, these factors were not taken into consideration by this customer. We were punctual for the appointment, which was an "exact time", rather than a "window of time". Additionally, we were professional during the course of our visit in the customer's home. We have come to realize that no matter what we do, we will not please everyone. Our numerous and consistent "A" ratings, annual receipt of the "Super Service Award" as well as "Honor Roll" from Angie's List for the past five consecutive years, is an accurate depiction of our company.
