The electronic panel is held in by (CHEAP) plastic clips which in my case broke around the screws and fell into the stove. Tolen was able to respond to my call very quickly and deteremined that the case alone was not available for replacement. He quickly secure the unit and was able to return in a few days to make this repair. I was impressed with his work, his honesty and the promptness of his response. I would recommend this company highly.
Description of Work: The electronic panel on my stove broke free and fell into the stove! Tolen came promptly, assessed the damage and gave me a reasonable estimate. He was able to secure the part quickly and restore my stove and oven.

Tolen was professional and pleasant. He got straight to the problem and fixed it. He explained what he was doing and was receptive to questioning. He spent 1.5 hours on the repair. The cost was 189.44 including tax.
Description of Work: Whirlpool Duet washer drain had clogged, stopped draining and flashing a warning code. Tolen arrived promptly with same day service. He disassembled the drain and pump, cleaned out a load of items clogging the drain, checked the electrical function of the pump and washer then reassembled the unit.

This job was for a rental property that I own and lease. My tenant called about the refrigerator having water leaks and not cooling very well. The appliance company that I used in the past was no longer in business. So I checked out the list of appliance repair companies on Angies List and decided on Appliance Service of Houston due to their good reviews and customer satisfaction. I called and spoke with Tolen and he agreed to come, take a look and call me back with the assessment. It turned out to be a fairly simple job and I felt he was very honest and professional. Charge for his service was very reasonable and I would use him again!
Description of Work: Repaired clogged freezer drain and water leak.

I have a Jennair oven that needed a part replacing. Tolen came and diagnosed the issue and prompty ordered a new part and came back the next day and fixed the repair.He was ontime on both occasions. What made his service stand out was his dedication to fixing the problem. The issue was easy to repair, but it took over 2 hrs to install the oven back into the fitted cabinets. It would not fit back into the original space and he had to move the down draft pump to help fit the unit back. This was beyond the original repair. He would not leave until the oven was back in place and he worked well beyond the hours that were required of him. I do not normally see service of this high standard. He also included two additional parts for free and spent a good hour sealing the airflow.I would recommend and use him again. Excellent service!

I first learned of Appliance Service of Houston from Angie's List. I called and was able to make an appointment quickly. Tolen, the technician, arrived early and was very professional and courteous. After taking the dryer apart and making some small repairs and corrections, he still had determined that the source of the noise was likely in the motor and impeller area. Making repairs to these parts would have been much more expensive, and he gave me solid advice to make a decision as to whether to repair the dryer or simply to replace it (his recommendation). He also said that as long as I could tolerate the noise, I could simply continue to use the dryer until it stopped working. He gave me some recommendations as far as brands to buy and avoid. Overall, I found him to be very honest, punctual, and very reasonable. I will definitely call these guys the next time I need appliance service.
Description of Work: Tech inspected and tested dryer to diagnose source of noise. Re-glued front felt seal and leveled the dryer.

My Jenn Air range stopped heating; the unit is 21 years old. I called Tolen who came out and worked two hours checking out everything to find the problem. He decided that the oven temperature switch and one other switch might be the reason the oven would not heat. When the parts came in Tolen called and set an appointment to return to put the parts in. This time he worked four hours. He tried everything. When it was obvious the new parts were not going to cure the problem, he put everything back in place, took out the new parts, and cleaned up. I am not one to give an A to a company which does not do the work. However, I feel that if if had been a normal repair, the work would have been done. I was pleased with the professionalism and expertise he exhibited. I was refunded the amount of money I had paid as a deposit for the new parts; I paid only for the initial diagnositc visit which I thought was very fair.
Description of Work: Although, he was not able to repair my stove, I give him an A for effort.

I already desribed this above. Sorry. He changed out the cold and hot water sensors and replaced the front door seal.
Description of Work: I have a front load washer. It was filling up with water even if the water was shut off. I discussed my problem with the tech on the phone. He seemed to know what was wrong and was picking up the parts before he came out. I also needed a new front seal as mine was mildewed and making my clothes smell, as well as the laundry room. I was skeptical as to the serviceman knowing what was wrong just from talking on the phone. He asked me if the water was cold or hot in the machine. It was cold and I usually always use cold. He arrived on time, was courteous, and was sure to wipe his feet and check his shoes. I appreciated that. He changed the cold water sensor and installed a new seal. The seal was difficult to install. It has already had a new one put on before. This man continued to work with the seal. He didn't get upset, or act rude or annoyed. When he finished, he was still smiling and was very pleasant. He also offered tips on keeping the seal clean and mildew free. I had been following these tips already, but it didn't help. However, the new one is made better and I have had any problem with smell or mildew. It turned out the next day the washer was doing the same thing, leaking water inside. I emailed him and he was out the next day and installed a new hot water sensor. He was very apolojetic and explained it is hard to know if the part is working or not prior to just replacing it. Our hot water takes a long time to warm up so was not hot when I checked it. Because he had to come back out, he didn't charge me for the second trip, not even for the part. This was a real shock! I have not had a service tech be so nice, yet totally professional and a very good attitude ever before. I will call them again should I have any problem with any of my appliances.

Kenmore (LG) Bottom Freezer Refrigerator after 13 months from the date of installation was making noise of a fan blade hitting ice. The freezer section was showing ice build up on the back wall in the area of the noise. I was truly distressed since the appliance was no longer under warranty and was told by Sears that they were unable to "accommodate" me for another two days before they could take a look at it. I called Tolen Hilliard of Appliance Service of Houston as my first choice after calling Angie's list and consulting the monthly booklet. Tolen set my mind at ease, showed up the day I called, accessed the problem and explained the need to order parts from out of town that would take a couple days at the earliest. We managed to get by in the meantime and Tolen kept in touch with updates. As soon as the parts were in his hands he headed to our home and finished the repair. Tolen was thorough and professional and even reimbursed us for a part he found at a lesser price. What a gem!!
Description of Work: Kenmore (LG) Bottom Freezer Refrigerator needed replacement of controller assembly (temperature sensor and fuse assembly. The freezer was icing up along the back wall where the controller assembly was located and the fan blade was hitting the ice. The noise alerted us to the problem.

Tolen arrived exactly when he said he would and he proved to be courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and efficient. Our refrigerator is now working fine.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator quit defrosting, causing ice to build up around the freezer coils which blocked air circulation to the refrigerator compartment. Tolen Hilliard replaced the defrost timer, the defrost heating element, and the defrost thermostat.

I have recommended him to several people. His name is Tolen Hilliard. There were a bunch of parts that needed to be fixed on my stovetop. He went and got parts and came back the same day. He stayed until he completed it and it took most of the day. He did more than most appliance guys would do. He has a service charge of $80, which is reasonable. It is applied towards the repair if you have him do the repair. He was very responsive.
Description of Work: I used Appliance Service Of Houston to repair my stovetop. It was an electronic problem that he diagnosed. The downdraft wasn't working properly so he had to tear it out to repair it. It was on a Friday and came back on Saturday to finish it up.

My refrigerator quit cooling on a Friday, and I called Appliance Service of Houston on Friday afternoon, around 4 p.m. The earliest they could get to me was Saturday at 4 p.m. I really would have preferred sooner, but I think 24 hours is actually pretty good, considering it was a weekend. The repairman was on time, he knew what he was doing, and he repaired my refrigerator in about 30 minutes (bad relay). In addition, I asked him about a problem with my dishwasher, and he took care of that while he was here

After having a bad experience with Washer Dryer Repair, I called Appliance Service of Houston in hopes that someone could come fix my dryer in the same day. Tolen Hilliard of ASH went above and beyond when he promised me that he could come by at 7pm on a Friday night. I was afraid he would be late, but the man was there exactly on time. Tolen took apart my dryer and examined why it wasn't heating. He inspected the venting, inside the house and outside, and he checked the fuses and every other part that was relevant to the heating issue. He then told me his assessment and did not try to sell me service and labor and parts I didn't need. After the machine was fixed, he suggested a game plan about what I should look out for, and he told me that if I needed him to come back out there would be no additional charge (so long as the next service call was directly related to the heating issue and was within a week of this call). All in all, he was incredibly professional, knowledgeable about his craft, punctual, and affordable (not looking to make up work to squeeze me for money).

This was just fantastic! After having two very horrible experiences, this was such a refreshing change! Knowledgeable, fast, professional, friendly - there is hope for the service industry!The cost was reasonable and the service could not have been any better!! WOW!! They are definitely the first company I would call for any appliance repair.
Description of Work: The water dispenser stopped working the refrigerator and there was extreme heat on the edges. The service provided was a replacement of the plastic lines and a new motor on the fan.

I called Appliance Service of Houston to repair a broken dishwasher. Tolen was able to schedule the service for the same day. He showed up exactly on time. I can't remember the last time a company actually did that. He was able to diagnose and fix the problem quickly. He even showed us what to do if we had the problem again in the future. I would recommend this company without reservation and will use again.
Description of Work: The propeller had seized on my GE Dishwasher. Tolen was able to free the propeller and get the dishwasher working again.

We called another company first, they did not show up nor did they bother to call and say they were not coming. After studying Angie's List, we called APPLIANCE SERVICE OF HOUSTON. Best service we have ever had! From answering our call, to showing up at the scheduled time to diagnosing and fixing our problem. If we have have any large appliance problems, APPLIANCE SERVICE OF HOUSTON is the company we will depend on again. On top of the great service, Tolan is a kind, concerned and extremely nice person. (Please make sure when you look for this company to double check the name; there is another company that has a very similar name - that is the company that did not bother to show up for our service call.)

We had a refrigerator with a top freezer where the freezer was working fine but the refrigerator would not cool below 70 degrees. Mr. Hilliard went right to the source of the problem - a bad fan - and replaced it. He was very courteous, arrived exactly at the time he said he would and resolved our problem in a very efficient manner.

I am extremely impressed. Not only did he do a good job, but when he returned the machine, he gave me a refund saying he had overcharged me!
Description of Work: Both my washing machine and my dryer were needing service/repair. The dryer had a problem I never thought about, and was easily solved! But the washing machine had major problems, which I was expecting from web research, so Tolen had to take it to the shop to take it apart and rebuild it with new parts. (The machine was only 3 years old, but unknown to me when I bought it, it was a "branded" machine, not one made by the company with the name on it.)
