Tolsen troubleshot may dishwasher drain problem. Found problem was caused by lose wire. Fixed it promptly. Could have easily sold me on a new drain pump but was honest about wiring issue. Will use again.

I spoke with the owner, Tolen Hilliard. He is personable and professional, and perhaps more importantly, he has integrity. Were he not the person he is, he could easily have scheduled a diagnostic appointment that likely would have ended with me declining to have the appliance repaired and paying a fee for the visit. What he did instead was offer to give me a price quote for the part he believed was broken (based on our phone conversation), so I could decide whether or not it was going to be worth it for me to have my very old appliance fixed if he came out to look at it. He very promptly got back to me with the information as promised. This is integrity at work and great customer service. I will be calling him for my future appliance repair needs.
Description of Work: The provider talked to me on the phone, listened to what the problem was with my 10-year-old clothes dryer, offered to research how much the replacement part would cost so that I could have all the information at hand before deciding whether or not to have someone do repairs, and promptly got back to me with the information.

This was the best experience I have had with repair services. Setting up the appointment was a breeze, they were punctual and diagnosed the problem quickly. The repair parts did need to be ordered and we were kept in the loop as to when the parts would arrive. The follow up appointment was scheduled to install the parts and again they were punctual, friendly, knowledgeable and totally professional. They made every effort to give the best service possible and they totally succeeded. They will be my go-to repair service from now on!
Description of Work: We had one refrigerator that stopped cooling. Two circuit boards were replaced. A secondary refrigerator no longer properly dispensed water because of a defective filter, filter housing, and water valve assembly. All these parts were replaced.

Defective "Timed Dry" cycle. Tolen avised that i could replace timer or use remaining cycle. Since my dryer is old I decided to use remaining cycle. It is so refreshing to meet honest people. Call in for an estimate for installing a front load washer and dryer with peds for each. Was told there is no discount for Angie member, ok-no biggie. But he then goes on to quote a fee of $500 per unit installed. WHAT the heck!!! Just to hook up a couple of water lines and plug in an outlet. NO WAY friggin way!!!!! Maybe I am just cheap. But I do have far more time than money. So on to the next provider on the list. On a more positive note, I will say the call was answered promptly. Please allow me to offer the correction: the cost quoted was $250 per unit and NOT $500 per unit. Nevertheless the total cost of $500 for the install was still too expensive. Another Angie service provider came out and under 90 minutes installed both units for less than $200!!!!

The customer obviously misunderstood our quote. We stated that the quote was $250.00 + tax per appliance. Not $500.00 per appliance (big difference). Our rate was based on the fact that the appliances had pedestals (lower drawers) that would need to be attached to the bottom of each appliance, which entails lifting both appliances on top of the pedestals. We called Appliance Service of Houston because when we started our front loading washing machine, all the water that was supposed to go inside the drum spilled out on to the floor. It ended up being an issue with one, seemingly innocuous, part not being completely tightened. Tolen was great, he double checked everything on the washer to make sure it was only that small issue. We were extremely pleased that it was indeed only a small issue and not a huge expensive one and also that Tolen was able to come out the same day.

Called Appliance Service of Houston on Saturday afternoon when our refrigerator stopped cooling. I was not expecting a call back until Monday AM, but Tolen called about an hour later and walked me through some things to check. He said he would not be able to get out to our house until Monday. We scheduled for Monday at noon, In the meantime, that Saturday evening the Refrigerator started cooling again. We still had Tolen come check the appliance and he did not find anything immediately wrong. He was very knowledge about the appliance. Prices maybe a little high, but worth it. We have finally found appliance repair company that is good and not from a major retailer. Thanks Tolen we will be calling again when an issue happens.

Our service tech (Tolen) was awesome. He showed up on time (actually 5 minutes early and not a time range - the exact time) and was very professional and courteous. He found the problem required replacing some parts and checked with the supply house to make sure the parts were in stock. He then rescheduled (2 days later) the appointment and again was right on time. He replaced the parts, showed us some things to do to prevent the problem from recurring again. I will not use any other company or technician for appliance repair. These guys are great!

Excellent service. It was easy to schedule the appointment using the online form. Tolen arrived exactly on time. He was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He explained the problem, how he would fix it, how long it would take, and the cost. He came with the right tools and did the repair right then in a timely manner. When he was finished he cleaned the area around the freezer. Overall, I was satisfied with the experience and would use this provider in the future.

Description of Work: Defrosted a problem area and ordered a part that needed changing out. When he returned, he discovered that the part didn't need to be replaced - it just needed to be defrosted - as he completed during his 1st visit. He then refunded the $$ that we had paid for the part and only charged us for labor.

Excellent service and experience. The service started with receiving a number of possible appointment times to choose from. Tolen arrived 15 minutes early, was very courteous and evaluated and found the issue and repaired on site. Also explained to me the service needed and was clear on cost up front. A very professional service and I would highly recommend them. I will use this company again if I need to.

I have used Tolen for years. My husband noticed a burning smell when our washer was running. Tolen came out today to check the washer out. After observing a cycle he diagnosed the drum is ever so slightly warped and is rubbing the gasket. He said it is not necessary to do anything at this time and to slightly decrees the load size to prevent further warping. I trust Tolen's experience with appliances. He is very honest as to what is best either repairing or getting a new unit.

Tolen was punctual, very polite & professional. He explained everything he was doing as he serviced the 2 items. For the oven there was no-problem-found. While I hate this finding since I expected the oven to fail as soon as Tolen left , we used the bake cycle 5 times since the service and the oven truly works great.... On the washer Tolen did a simple fix on adjusting the feet levelers. That seemed to fix all the imbalance issues. In my opinion the charges were high for "easy" fixes. I thought Tolen gave us a very professional explanation on the charges AND both appliances are now fully functional. Though the repairs did not warrant complex repairs, Tolen seemed nowledgeable on both appliances. Yes I would use Appliance Service of Houston again.
Description of Work: Looked at 2 appliances which were at issue: 1- We smelled a bad gas odor on our LG oven when it was doing a bake cycle 2- Our LG washer was very imbalanced on most wash cycles.

Online/email appointment setup is pathetic, would have liked to talk to a person instead of getting a time sensitive email telling me and a few other customers that we needed to respond quickly to get one of the available spots... fcfs I hope the other customers don't decide to use my personal email address in any illicit websites! will not attempt to use this service again

Tolen Hilliard did not know how to fix my GE Classic Range. The ignitor circuit I had already purchased, he put on backwards, as I had another GE appliance person come out after Tolen Hilliard did. Tolen not only did not know what he was doing, he lost two essential screws which align the front panel of the range to where now I have to buy a new range. He bought parts I did not need, and had to leave for another appointment. He left my GE range pulled all the way out into my kitchen for one week. I was appalled but said nothing. I figured out how to use the risers on the bottom to lift the range back into position myself and told Tolen about how to do it when he returned with more parts he thought might solve the problem. Tolen Hilliard did not even know about the risers. After being in my home for approximately 10 minutes on the second visit, he told me he could not fix the range and just to buy a new one. Then, he had the audacity to ask me if I wanted him to slide the range back into place. OF COURSE I DO! I couldn't believe a so-called professional would ask such a question. I paid the entire bill of $460.21 in full up front, something I'll never do again. Two weeks ago, Tolen Hilliard assured me I would receive a refund in the form of certified funds, e.g. money order or cashier's check. To date, I'm still waiting for a refund I had no say in discussing what I should pay and should not pay for. He did not discuss the refund with me at all. And, why just credit the credit card - sending a money order or certified funds made me very suspicious of his business practices. I will be taking action in the next few days if he does not do the right thing and send the partial refund he promised. Albeit, I do not recommend this appliance person. He is of dubious character for sure, and, certainly, not a man of his word.

We spent a considerable amount of time attempting to fix the cooktop/range that had been also serviced without success by another company prior to our involvement. We attempted to resolve the issues with the appliance by replacing the ignition switches (provided by customer), the spark module and spark electrodes. The appliance still did not work properly. At that point, after three separate visits, we "threw in the towel" and suggested purchasing another appliance. We stated that we would send a refund in certified funds (due to a partial refund, not the total amount paid with the credit card). We are unable to extract a specific amount from a credit card transaction in the form of a refund/reversal. The credit card only reverses the total amount, not a reduced amount. The customer will receive their partial refund as we promised. We told them that the refund would be processed and mailed this week. As for our knowledge and ability to service appliances as well as our integrity, our many "A" ratings speak for themselves! Obviously, this customer wants to blame our company for their "entire frustration" for a non-functioning appliance. They had issues prior to our arrival! Regards, Appliance Service of Houston
