The heater at my mother-in-law's house broke on New Year's Eve. When we visited her that evening, around 7pm, it was freezing outside and very cold inside the house. We frantically pulled a list of top rated AC/Heating companies from Angie's List and started making calls. The first two companies said they didn't have any technicians working because of the holiday (although they had 24 hour/emergency service listed Yes on Angie's List), but even if they did they would charge $289 just to come out. We called AirCon next and was told yes, they would send a technician out. About an hour and a half later, Jody showed up at our door and got to work right away. He found a broken wire, repaired it, checked both downstairs and upstairs thermostats and made sure warm air came out before he left. He charged us only the minimum service call of $99 since he said it was a minor repair. We were pleasantly surprised as we had fully expected to pay much more. Not only did Jody come all the way across town during New Year's Eve when most businesses had already shut down to help with our crisis, he was cheerful, courteous, professional, and best of all, he did not take advantage of the situation and engage in price gouging as some people might have. We are very grateful and highly recommend Air Con and will use them for all our AC/heating needs from now on. We will also request Jody specifically. Also, thank you, Angie's List for coming to the rescue.

They were really clean and professional. They are very kind. I even came home form the dentist, and they had to wait for me to get there, and they were really nice about that. They called me to schedule my service call and worked around my schedule. They are very proactive and I like them.

It took them about an hour-and-a-half to complete the service. There were no unexpected issues. They had to replace a capacitor but that wasn't unexpected. The heating system is ancient so I wasn't surprised at that. It was a reasonable price for what they did. They did a good job. I was pleased with them. I called them up, made the appointment and they came when they said they were going to so I can't complain. He was very good. This was the only time I've used them.
Description of Work: They did a routine checkup inspection on the heating system. It was for my father-in-law's house.

Ricky gave me three different options with three different prices. No push in any direction, just the facts. This was my fourth estimate and i had planned for this service well over three years. joe was the lead technician and Darrell was his co-worker. The workers are directly employed by AIRCON so i knew who was actually doing the work. They worked all day for two days straight without stopping (the second day they had two extra men to help them put in the new ductwork). they explained the new systems to me in language i could understand. i would absolutely hire AIRCON again and again. reputation is everything to me.

You pay one a year to belong to their club and then you get like priority treatment if you have to call in on an emergency, they're going to take care of you before they come take care of somebody else. I haven't have to pay any exorbitant fees. Price-wise as far as them coming out, to me it's fair. I've never had to pay anything that I thought was out of line.
Description of Work: I use AirCon for cooling and heating. They come twice a year to check my furnace and air conditioner, and we've had a couple problems with the air conditioner, the drain on it and they've come to fix that.

I called AirCon for a second opinion since this was the fourth time my AC needed service in 18 months. And boy am I glad I did! Ricky and Drew were very professional, listened to the description of the problem and service history of the system, and explained what they were doing as they diagnosed the system. It turns out the fix was a simple one that had been overlooked the three previous service times before (again by a different company). Thus they only charged me the base cost of the service call even though they were worked for over an hour. Needless to say this was the cheapest of my service visits and AirCon has earned my business for any future HVAC needs. They pride themselves on fixing things right the first time. That's hard to find these days....

I have neglected to provide prior reviews for the services we have received from AirCon. We purchased a home 2 years ago and a couple of months after moving in we lost the HVAC system (to normal age and wear and tear). We decided to replace the system. We found AirCon via Angies List and called mostly due to their very good reviews and ratings. We were not disappointed. They did not try to hardsell us. Several options were offered. The work was professional, quick, clean and conscientious. We have called AirCon out several times since for fine tuning and most recently to replace some ductwork that we did not do during the HVAC replacement. We have never been disappointed.

I came home on a Sunday evening to a hot house. I called Air Con and requested a emergency call. I shut the system down and waited for a call back. About a hour later I turned the system back on and it was blowing cold air. The technician called saying he was booked and could not make it until the following day. I informed him what had occurred and we agreed for him to come out that Monday to check it. I took time off of work and meet him at my house. He replaced my air filters which I had on hand and looked at both units inside and out. He said my system had no Freon and that I needed at least 12-15 lbs. He said he thought I may have a slow leak but could not tell me if I add the Freon how long it may last. He also gave me a quote for a entire new system three different, seers and models. All of which I will say were at least $3,000 more then any of the other quotes I received for the same equipment. After calling my husband who was out of town working for 6 weeks, we agreed to add 8lbs. Since we could not know if we had a leak and if so how large of a leak. Needless to say that cost $600.00 the house never actually cooled down completely and by 1:00 the next afternoon less then 18 hours from him adding the Freon my unit was blowing hot air. I had to purchase 2 window units to keep my downstairs livable. After having four separate companies come to bid and look at my current unit, I was told by each one of them that my unit only held 8 lbs of Freon and that any company can run test to tell you a basic figure of loss or leak in a system. Three days later a person from the office called asking if I made a decision on the unit I may want. I explained the issue and after going back and forth several times they refunded half of the $600 I paid them. I also asked that they not send out their "Specialist" to look at my system and was told " No ma'am we will never come to your house again" .

We are not surprised by this review. Her husband even called us and apologized for her rudeness to our technicians who were trying to help. Our tech did warn her from the start that the Freon that we add may not last, but she and her husband authorized the work anyway. Our tech told her that it "may old up to 15lbs. of Freon" because of a long line set and he believed it could have held a few more in addition to the 8lbs he added, but he got it up to an acceptable level to cool the house- as long as it didn't leak back out, which unfortunately, it did. After our best recommendations to replace the bad equipment at a reduced price, she refused our help. We then agreed to refund $300 for the Freon and wished her luck with her system. She was adamant about using another company and threatened to write a bad review if we didn't give her some money back (we were going to give her a refund anyway and we would have credited back the entire cost of Freon if we could have replaced the equipment). She obviously wrote the review anyway, after she cashed her refund check. We also assured her that, because of her refusal to listen to our best suggestions to solve her HVAC problem and our inability to make her happy (we have a 100% satisfaction policy) that we would not be able to service her equipment again.

I was given an appointment the same day I called. The technician, Patrick, arrived on time and was extremely courteous and professional. He listened to my concerns and checked the A/C unit in the attic as well as the drains. Patrick spent a lot of time making sure the lines were not clogged and gave me his opinion as to what was causing the problem as well as offering options for what I could do to solve the problem. I was so impressed with Patrick that I signed a service contract with AirCon. I will certainly be requesting Patrick as my technician on future service calls.

The technician, Jody, was professional and communicative. He explained what was wrong and what was needed to fix the issue. AC was not working when he arrived, but was working when he left and still seems to be working fine. I plan to call them next time I get a regular AC inspection/tune-up.

We had two AC units that were 20+ years old and had been babying them along for the last several years, knowing they needed replacing and saving our pennies. This summer was too much for the downstairs unit and when we got back from our vacation, it was not even trying to cool anymore. After lots of research and many bids, we decided on AirCon. These guys were awesome! Joe and his crew were so professional, answered all of our questions, and super efficient. They had to work in our cramped, over heated attic and they built a great platform for one of the new units to sit on. They took such great care with our walls and new floors when they took equipment in and out, and they cleaned out really well. And to top everything off, we had asked them to add media filters to the units, which they would do for an additional $400, bit because of a minor hiccup with paperwork, they had to come back out a week later to add them. To our great surprise and pleasure, they declined to charge us for the filters because of the delay! I cannot say enough great things about these guys- from Kim and Rosie in the office, Walter who came out for the bid, and Joe and his crew, all of them made this a great experience. I would highly recommend them to everyone!

I called AirCon based on the "A" grade on Angieslist and several positive comments I had read. My AC was blowing cool air but not cold. Before they performed the diagnosis, I knew the issue was a Freon leak at the coil on the main unit in the attic. A friend of mine who is a certified HVAC tech had assessed the unit 2 weeks back and added Freon to the unit; it was obvious it had a pretty good leak. The AirCon tech confirmed the leak at the coil w/ a tester. Everything was going good until the point we started talking about my options. The tech told me the repairs (replace the coil and add Freon) will cost about $3000. Don't be surprised by his next statement as you may have heard this if you had to deal w/ AC/Cooling companies at any time in the past. He said "instead of fixing the unit for $3000, it would be better if I replace the unit". The argument here is that since it's going to cost me $3000 to fix the unit which may continue to have issues like this in the future, why not spent an additional $2000 and replace the unit which comes with a 10 year warranty on parts etc. What he was not anticipating and I didn?t tell him was the fact that I had already done some research on prices for Coils for a 2 ton unit which is what I have. The price of a replacement coil is approx. $300 on the low end and about $800 on the high end. Of course that does not include labor. So even if I was told it will be $1500 to replace the coil, I would have been okay w/ that. My unit is about 8 years old and useful life is about 8-10 years however sometime they last longer. Here is the fact in my opinion, AirCon and companies like this has no interest in fixing these types of issue, they rather have the consumer spent money on what we don't need! What I don't get is does anyone have any skill/expertise to repair anything anymore? What happen to the companies and technicians that can give us (the consumer) an honest assessment and price? Yes, what happen to honesty and integrity? They don't have to exaggerate the price of repair in order to make us (the consumer) think we are making a prudent decision when the whole recommendation is based on grossly exaggerated repair costs. Unfortunately this is the common practice with many of these home repair service companies; I had a similar experience w/ my thankless water heater earlier this year, another story very similar to this? So in this case, I politely declined AirCon?s service and gave them a $60 cheque for the diagnoses and assessment. The technician provided a written quote for approx. $5000 if I paid cash or approx. $6900 if I financed it. That?s some crazy interest rate by the way, but I won?t go there.. By the way the technician told me the $5000 is only for the AC unit and does not include the furnace/heater. He said it will be around $9000 to replace the heater also. I told the technician I will get some competitive quotes and get back w/ them if I decided to go w/ them. Later that day, I called around and found a company out of Sugarland (AAA Heating and Cooling). AAA Heating/Cooling told me it will be about $1300 to replace the coils (as opposed to the $3000 quoted by AirCon). AAA also gave me the option to change the unit since my unit is about 8 years old. To replace the unit with a Trane unit he said it will cost me about $5000. By the way the $5000 for the Trane unit includes the AC as well as furnace/heater (as opposed to the $9000 quoted by Aircon). Here is the bottom line, don?t trust AirCon or any of its kind at their word. We are talking about a lot of $$$ difference here!! Call around and try to find someone that deals honestly and fairly. Like I said above, I don?t mind paying for a new unit if that is what I have to do, but don?t give me false and exaggerated quotes!! That is neither honest or of good integrity. The good news in my case is that I?m getting a new larger unit (Trane by the way..) installed next week at a cost of approx. $5000 but it?s the whole unit, not just part of the unit! Good luck to you! Hope you won?t? have to go through all the hassle I had to go through and I hope you find an honest company to fix your issue.

We are sorry we were unable to help this customer. In a situation like this, we can get caught in a negative both ways: 1. If we offer replacement, some customers think we are trying to take advantage, but upgrading to 410A is often the wiser decision based on the federal requirements and our years of experience. 0R 2. If we do a repair and it fails again, the customer can be angry at us for having to replace it anyway. Because we see these situations every day, we are qualified to lay out the options to our customers and try to educate them to make the best decision for themselves. In most cases, leaks in evaporator coils are not repairable. However, if that is a reasonable option for our customers, we always offer a repair in addition to any other options we see (of course, any company can offer to repair a leaking coil knowing that it’s not a good idea and the customer will wind up calling back soon for another problem because they repaired something that should have been replaced, this costs the customer too much in time & money). After 2015, the R-22 equipment will no longer be available. We believe that it’s in our customers’ best interest to be well informed and to not have to buy or replace an evaporator coil twice, because obviously, if it fails again, he will have to upgrade the entire system to one that uses the new 410A Freon. Anytime someone replaces the coil in an R-22 system with an R-22 coil, they will have to replace that same piece of equipment AGAIN as soon as another piece fails! It’s not a ‘fair’ situation that the EPA has created by mandating the use of the new 410 A Freon, which is why we try to help our customers choose the wisest use of their money by only replacing once instead of twice. Also, because of the complications around this equipment and the high cost of Freon, we do not offer discounts on it. We supply our customers with as many options as we can, in a way that allows us to stay in business as a company that always answers their phones, always has a background checked & drug screened tech on call (employees, not contractors), has enough employees that you won’t have to wait too long for service, & always follows up on each service call to make sure you are happy with the service. There will always be people who will do work for less and we are sorry you didn't see the value in hiring a long term, reputable company to do the work and stand behind each job if there are ever any issues. I found this company on Angie's list and called them after two other companies wouldn't be available until 2-3 days later. They called me back and was able to fit me in 2hrs later. The technician came and listen to my unit and knew what needed to be fix. He got us running in about three hrs from my original call. It was 83 degrees in my house and waiting wasn't an option. I am very thankful they could fit me in and fix the problem. Thanks

It went very well. I called them in the morning and they said they'd be there after lunch but they actually got there about noon. He called me and told me what was wrong with the AC, also, what poor header he'll replace and everything like that. I said go ahead. He looked at it, checked it out and make sure it was running correctly. He called me back and I gave him a credit card number and then we were on our way. It was painless.

A one word evaluation for AirCon would be integrity. I called them to repair an older air conditioning unit. Walter, Chad, Matt and Darrell were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and honest. After examining the unit throroughly, I was given the cost for repair in writing. This was not an 'estimate', it was the final cost, period. The new part was installed, and the team even made adjustments to a few other components of the unit in order for it to run more efficiently. We experienced a glitch in the system several days later (no fault of AirCon but of supplier of part installed) to which AirCon responded promptly. The team stayed with the job until it was completed as outlined initially. Even with the unexpected challenges, there were no additional charges incurred. The job was completed with excellence.

It went well - the only complaint is that they do not accept American Express, which cost me 2% of the cost (about $160 lost), in benefits I would have received if they would have accepted AMEX - this was a surprise and will factor into my decision on future work with the company. Otherwise, they were professional and I am happy with the way the install went.

I also have an AMEX card that I use, but I'm also aware that many places do not take it because of their high fees, so I have to be prepared for that. After carefully listening to my concerns, Will and the new guy explained the possible reasons and estimate cost for each. These guys are very knowledgeable, courteous and professional!!! 1) I showed them how I figured out the thermostat issue, but I told them about the 'wait' warning light which I did not fully understand. Will explained comes on as a precaution for the compressor (I'm paraphrasing) to regulate when it shuts on and off. Anyway, since I figured out the thermostat issue, that warning light has not come on anymore so nothing needed to be done. 2) We went to the furthest room in my house where I said that the airflow was not as strong. I just bought ceiling fans for two of my rooms at this end of the house. Will explained about how homes have ducts configured and if they go directly to the air conditioner, then that would be the most efficient airflow. He gave me what seems to be a reasonable quote for that. In the future, I will have Aircon do that for me, I'm sure. By the way, there was absolutely NO PRESSURE to have any work done. 3) They went up to the air conditioner in the attic and found a clogged drain, since I told them about the overflow I saw outside my window. They unclogged the drain and explained to me how to keep the drain clean. 4) We talked about a service contract. Since I am currently reducing my monthly expenses, I would prefer to pay all at once for one year. I decided to pay for that when I call Aircon out for my furnace check up before the winter. I only wish the service contract did not cost $10 more to pay for the whole year rather than paying monthly. That is the only thing I would ask Aircon to change. For me, with a lot of student loan debt, it's important that I keep my monthly expenses to a minimum. Wow! I am totally impressed! Aircon is who I will call from now on because of their NUMBER ONE customer service and they are a company that can be trusted! Aircon stands by their claims. Awesome! I highly recommend them.

I called AirCon because of the positive reviews on Angielist but things didn?t turn to be a very positive experience. Our Air went out one evening and I narrowed it down to the capacitor or the blower motor. I called AirCon and got the night serviceman. He said that he had a few calls ahead of me and when He got to the house, there would be an emergency premium. We decided to rough it through the night and he would have the office call me first thing in the morning to set up a time. I waited until 10am and then call them. The office told me that they would have someone out in the afternoon. A technician came to our home and we told him what was wrong. After he went a evaluated the unit in the attic, he told us that it was the blower motor, but the entire furnace needs to be replaced. We asked him to just replace the motor so he went out to his truck to get us a price. When he returned he told us that after talking to his office, he wasn?t going to do the job since there wasn?t enough space to safely remove the motor. My wife asked about his original recommendation of replacing the entire furnace and he said that wouldn?t be safe either. He then recommended another company that might be able to perform the work.(strange) Well here it is another night of 90+ degrees in the house. We called another company (Veitco) and told him our problem. He showed up at our house right when he said he would be there and looked very professional. The first thing he did was turn the unit on to hear what it sounded like, then he went up into the attic and took pictures of the mess that was left by AirCon. The first tech. left live wires lying exposed and computer board leaning against the blower housing. It was shorted out also needed to be replaced. We got lucky because this technician had a board on his truck. (whew) Veitco had the blower motor replace within an 1 ½ hours, went out and checked the Freon and started the unit up. I know that there have been many good reviews of Aircon but I cannot give one at all.

We have tried to contact this customer to apologize for not being able to help him faster. We believe there was an unfortunate misunderstanding between the tech and the customer, in that the tech was not able to repair it right then, yet he did schedule it for the following day. He also recommended another company that we trust to see if it could be done sooner. We appreciate these reviews on Angie’s List because they help us to continually improve the way we do business.
