The Air Con technicians were very professional, courteous, and prompt on both the initial call (to provide an estimate) and the subsequent repair/installation. During the initial visit to provide an estimate/quote, the Air Con technician (at no cost to me!!) removed a duct panel to confirm location of evaporator coil leak as required to redeem the original manufacturer's warranty. Air Con's prices are extremely reasonable, I suspect only a very small company ("one-man show") would be less expensive, while Air Con seems to have a relative large crew and substantial internal staff at a central office for logistical support that also made a follow-up phone call several days after the service to confirm our satisfaction for quality control. The Air Con technicians replaced the evaporator coil in a little over two hours and confirmed it was working properly before leaving. The Air Con price was very reasonable and included $900 for installation of the evaporator coil and full refrigeration system charge of 6 pounds, while another Angie's List a/c service company had quoted $1,860. The Air Con Technician also installed a valve and access point in the condensate drain PVC piping to facilitate future maintenance and treated condensate drains. I am very pleased with Air Con and can highly recommend them. A different Angie's list a/c service company had charged me $500 to diagnose the problem (but didn't even remove the duct panel to confirm leak/location), provide a six pound refrigeration charge, and install a hard-to-start motor capacitor kit that probably was not required.
Description of Work: Provided a quote/estimate to replace a leaking evaporator coil (and confirmed it was the source of the refrigeration leak by removing duct cover at no charge!) on 10/23/12 and then followed up with evaporator coil replacement on 10/24/12.

Overall went well, the technician recommended a subscription with extended service hours and priority service. I did not take the annual service agreement even though it sounded like a wise thing to do.

We have used AirCon for previous A/C work and they have always been fast, courteous and do great work. When our evaporator needed replacement, they went the extra mile and installed a switch in our overflow pan to prevent it from overflowing onto the ceiling. i didn't even realize it until the next time I went in the attic. This time AirCon came to the rescue when our furnace went out. The blower motor was making a lot of noise and I called AirCon. The technician came out and found that the vibrations had caused a gas leak in our attic! He quickly stopped the leak and diagnosed the problem. He then explained my options and gave me a written estimate for fixing the problem. I could either replacing the blower or replacing the entire furnace (both included fixing the gas leak). The furnace was 19 years old and was at the end of its life. I spoke to the tech about my options and he didn't pressure me, but recommended replacing the whole unit. I typically don't do the morst expensive option, but in this case, I decided to go ahead and do the whole furnace, since it was so old and the entire new unit would have a warranty. A few hours after he left the blower stopped running and we now had no A/C! I called back and they brought out a portable unit to keep us cool until they could replace the furnace. They did a great job and I am amazed at how quiet the new Rudd unit is! AirCon even had to do more work than anticipated due to my attic configuration, but honored the original estimate. They were very professional and a real life saver! Thanks AirCon!

Great job. Very professional and punctual. We called them late on a Friday afternoon before we went out. They came over, fixed the problem called us and by the time we got home the house was cool again.

After receiving several bids from other service providers we decided to have AirCon replace our entire HVAC system; the price was very competitive factoring a rebate. The technicians that preformed the work were polite professional and on time. On small problem was encountered after the install and another technician show up promptly to correct the issue and the office personal refunded a slight out of pocket expense that we incurred due to this issue within three days. I have recommended AirCon to several friends and will continue to do so.

Our A/C wasn't cooling the house, so my husband found AirCon online and called them up. We paid a $65 trip charge, as well as about $40 for some repairs to our A/C. The tech then told us that a service package would help maintain the unit's efficiency. It would cost $10.75/month, but a tech would come out twice a year and clean out vents, make repairs and generally keep the system running well so that problems would be minimized. We'd also get 10% off labor costs. We signed up, trusting that it would keep us cool through the summer. We had to call AirCon out to our house two more times, each time paying trip charges up to $85, in addition to costs for repairs. Somehow, the regular 'maintenance' and repairs we were shelling out for weren't doing anything to actually keep the house cool. Our house was never cooler than 77 degrees, regularly getting as hot as 88 degrees. The techs were never able to explain to me exactly what was wrong with the unit, or what they were doing to fix it, but they did keep taking our checks. Finally, after a few hundred dollars and sweating week after week, we called a different company to come take a look. The second company did not charge any trip fees, and told us the intake vents throughout the house were too small to adequately cool the size of our house. Nothing done to the unit itself would help - it was functioning well, we would just have to cut more intake vents! So AirCon was charging us for things that weren't going to help. I won't be calling AirCon in the future, and would not recommend them.

Please read our other accurate reviews, too. This member continues to delete and repost this inaccurate review. SHE RECEIVED THE FULL REFUND SHE ASKED US FOR in August 2012 & we do not understand why she keeps re-posting this review. The first time we went to the member’s home to service her AC was on 10-24-11 because it was not cooling well (it is an old system). We checked pressures and cleaned the coil because it was very dirty and caked with grass. Her second call on 3-18-12 (Saturday) was because the AC was leaking. The primary drain line was clogged. We blew out the primary and secondary drain lines and at that point she signed up to become a Service Partner Plan member. We returned on 3-27-12 to perform an AC check-up (normal fee: $79.50). At that point, she had not paid any money toward the check-up. Her monthly service began on 4-15-12 and she paid the $10.75/month for 4 months. As the Marketing Manager for AirCon, I personally follow up on every single service call or installation that we do. Per my notes on her account, I spoke with this customer myself, once in Oct.2011, and twice in March (the 2nd & 3rd calls) & she told me on all 3 follow up calls that she was satisfied with the service we had performed. However, on July 20, 2012, she called to say she wanted to cancel her SPP membership with us. We did so immediately. This was also the day she began posting her ugly reviews. We had a long talk about this situation and she was satisfied at that time with the refund she asked us to send for the SPP charges and also a refund of the emergency fee from the Saturday call (which she had previously approved). Before her refund, she had received a $79.50 checkup for only $43.00. The next morning, we mailed her a refund for $43.00 (April 15 to July 15 of $10.75/month) plus one $85 emergency service fee = $128.00. She told me later when I called to follow up again that she had received the refund check (she had it in hand in less than a week). Evidently, the check did not get to her fast enough and she continued posting ugly reviews online (Yellow Pages, Yelp and Angie’s List) that same day. Every time I wrote a response, she would repost it again later. Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we take it very seriously at AirCon. Please read our other reviews, call us, or visit our website for a more accurate picture of who we are. We know and are grateful that Angie’s List members are intelligent consumers who can judge for themselves after reading both sides of the situation. Unfortunately, this member continues to delete and repost this inaccurate review because she wants it to be on top for all to read. We support every customer’s right to post their perception of the experience they had with us. We will continue to pray for this lady and hope that her life gets better as she must be having a really hard time right now. Did not go well. They refused service.
Description of Work: I'm a real estate broker and phoned them on behalf of a corporate owner to do repairs to an AC System. I asked them to come out to give an estimate to repair an A/C system leak. The refused to work with me because of the property being corporate owned, and overall have never had this kind of experience in over 10 years of being in residential real estate. Little do they understand that I sell over 80 homes a year, and could have been one of their best referrers.

Our upstairs A/C Unit stopped blowing cold air and we knew we had to get it fixed before the Labor Day long weekend. I went on Angies List to check out our options and found AirCon - their $25 Repair Coupon and high ratings sold me. When I called and spoke to Doreen, she was very professional and pleasant and explained the $60 Service Fee plus Parts/Labor, which she estimated to be between $150-200, if her guess of a bad capacitor was correct (based on my description of the problem). She was able to schedule someone to come over within 2 hours of my call, even on the Friday before a long weekend! This was a HUGE relief, as I hoped to avoid overtime/emergency charges over the holiday... As promised, Doreen called me when J.Wayne was on his way and he arrived right in the middle of the allotted time (11am - 1pm). J. Wayne was quick, efficient, and professional. He explained what was wrong, had the capacitor in stock on his truck, and promptly made the replacement, checking the other components on the exterior unit as well, just in case. Our upstairs A/C Unit is now cooling properly (it has gone from 84 to 82 degrees just in the last 15 minutes) - HOORAY! J. Wayne also gave me some information on their maintenance program - I will certainly consider them given the wonderful service I experienced today!

After the install and everything was working, I was still unsure of how to program my thermostat. They had someone come out and listen to my questions and answer everything I was unsure about. They always end with, "is there any other question"?
Description of Work: We had a complete new 5 ton 2 stage HVAC system installed. They arrived around 9 am and with 2 men up in the attic and 1 outside working on the condensing unit, they completed the job alittle after 5:00pm. They cleaned up well after the job. I noticed a couple of days later looking at my condensing unit, there were 2 screws missing. It didn't effect the working condensing unit, but when I recieved our follow up phone call, I mentioned it to them and they had someone come by to put them in. I chose them because they were the only ones that offered to do a heat load calculation and gave us more than one bid. One for a 4 ton & one for a 5 ton. They listened to my concerns and gave me what I wanted and didn't pressure me into getting anything more than I needed such as the filtering system or UV lights. They didn't call us every day either like a salesman with other companies did when we got bids which can be annoying. I wanted to pick a company that I know would be someone that we could build a relationship with and trust in the future.

Office called to notify us that the technician was on his way. Technician showed on time if not a little early. He was very polite and seemed knowledgable. Described what he had found and how he would remedy the issue. Explained how much it would cost prior to starting the work, which turned out be cheaper than what he had anticipated. When scheduling the appointment, the office was extremely nice and flexible with our schedule. We now have cold air blowing through the vents!! Highly recommended.

J. Wayne of AirCon Service did a PM on my A/C units and reviewed my current A/C air distribution. He made some excellent "low" cost recommendations, like changing a ceiling air vent type, in one of my bedrooms to improve the air circulation. It was very apparent that he was extremely knowledgeable about A/C systems and also made it clear he would ensure that no recommendations would be made that weren't necessary. At the end of an hour or so thorough house review, he gave my a detailed review of my A/C performance. I was so pleased that I decided to take a yearly maintenance service contract with AirCon. I am very pleased with their service and expect nothing but great care from them in the future not only on my A/C system but also my heating system.

My air conditioning stopped working overnight, so I messaged 4 AC repair companies at 5AM. By 9AM, I had heard from 2 of them and chose AirCon because of ALL of the reviews written noting that they repaired the system, rather than replaced. The woman who I spoke to on the phone was knowledgeable, positive, and really did a great job promoting the company. Around 4 PM, they called, saying the serviceman was on his way and by the time we got here, he had already begun working, had identified the problem, and was ready to fix my Capacitor. $200 later, I'm sitting in a nice, cool house!

I woke up to find our a/c unit was not cooling. It was 83 degrees in the house so I immediately opened up doors & windows to get SOME air circulation. I turned the a/c off for a little while and turned it on again to find that it cooled down a little but my husband was on his way home and HE cannot or should I say "WILL NOT" stay in a house if it is not cool. So I had to do something quick. I really didn't get a chance to price compare again so I decided to call AirCon again hoping it wasn't the compressor already giving out. Thankfully, they dispatched the same Service Technician, Joey. He came out . . . the same day! Joey, informed us that the system froze up & that by shutting it down for the time that I did was the reason why it did cool again for a little while. He determined that the unit was low on freon; he had to recharge the system with 6 pounds . . . after a few minutes we felt a BIG difference. My husband arrived shortly before Joey arrived. They talked more about the size of our unit, other options, as well as the ongoing problems we've had cooling room additions since we bought the house. Again, he conducted himself in a very professional manner and was very knowledgeable and well informed us of what we needed to do get our system running more efficient. He answered all of our questions we had and got the estimates to us in a very efficient time. I HOPE JOEY WILL ALWAYS BE OUR TECHNICIAN . . . : )

I woke up one morning to find that our A/C was not cooling; the system did kick on but never cooled. Our Service Tech, Joey, showed up and starting from top to bottom, found the problem, replaced the capacitor & advised us of the status of a/c unit compressor. While he was finishing up his paperwork the house actually felt cooler . . . This was just the start.
Description of Work: Replaced capacitor & tested. He tested the amps, noted that the the compressor already had a start kit installed but still pulling very high amps & advised us of foreseeable problems. Joey was VERY professional & knowledgeable.

THE TECHNICIAN TESTED THE TEV (THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVE) AND FOUND IT TO BE FAULTY - NOT OPENING ALL-THE-WAY. HOWEVER, WHATEVER HE DID DURING THE TESTING HELP THE SYSTEM WORK BETTER, SO AS OF NOW I AM POSTPONING THE $800 TEV REPLACEMENT COST. I THINK THE COMPANY AND TECHNICIANS WERE FAIR AND HONEST AND WOULD USE THEM AGAIN. IF IN THE FUTURE THE VALVE DOES NEED TO BE REPLACED, I WILL USE THEM.
Description of Work: 1ST SERVICE VISIT: THE A/C SYSTEM WAS CHECKED OUT BY A SERVICE TECH AND REFRIGERANT ADDED. SERVICE CHARGE $163. A/C WORKED FOR ABOUT A DAY AND THEN WOULD NOT COOL. 2ND SERVICE VISIT: DIFFERENT TECHNICIAN, THE SYSTEM WAS CHECKED OUT AND FOUND TO HAVE A MALFUNCTIONING TEV (THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVE). NO CHARGE FOR THIS VISIT SINCE THE FIRST VISIT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM.

We got bids from three companies to do this work, and even though AirCon didn't have the lowest bid, they did several things which pointed to a likely satisfactory job. One company sent an obvious salesman who had grand plans for a lot more work and components than we wanted. Another company couldn't make the bid appointment on time and gave us a hard-to-read estimate. Further, when we called back for more info, they didn't have it in the office, and the guy who made the estimate was out and was supposed to call us back. He didn't. Ricky from AirCon gave us an easy to read bid with all the options we wanted to consider. When we subsequently called his office for additional information, we got it quickly and without fuss. After thinking it over for a few days, we made an appointment with them for the job. Michael & Chad from AirCon arrived at the appointed time, put down drop cloths, and began the removal of our old system. Once it was taken out, they proceeded to bring in the new one. They had to take out part of the attic stairway to get the furnace up through the opening, but that seemed routine for them, and they put it back together, probably stronger than before. They inadvertently broke a piece of molding around the opening which they replaced the next day with a piece they had picked up at Home Depot. They worked hard all day long, but they didn't get the system connected to the ducts by the time they left, and that caused us to be without A/C that night, a small complaint because it was a fairly cool night. The next day they had to make a run for some parts needed to connect the ducts because someone at the office had taken them off their truck. (This and the fact that they didn't have what they needed the day before to connect up the ducts made me consider giving them a B in "professionalism". That, however, was mitigated by the helpfulness of their office staff and the followup survey they did to be sure we were happy with the job.) They tested out the system and turned it over to us. We are very happy with the job and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.

Aircon tech Joey was a very nice and knowledgeable young man. Very professional, efficient, and took the time to explain some issues with my 19 yeat old system. In blowing out clogged drain lines from the plenum, we discovered later that the drain plug in the from bath vanity had bee sucked down into the pipe and we couldn't get it out. Called Aircon and Joey cheerfully came back, crawled under the sink, and corrected the problem. We were very impressed with this young man. I had asked Joey for a quote on replacing my old unit and within a coulple of dayes, he emailed me a detailed bid for good, better, and best units. Any company is only as good as the people with whom you deal directly. Melissa, Joey, and the others were great! Highly recommend. ,

From the initial estimate explaining what was wrong to recommending a solution, the AirCon team was great. Everything was done exactly as expected.
Description of Work: At the end of last summer our Upstairs A /C Unit was not cooling properly and being 14 years old we knew it wouldn't last another year. We contacted several companies to come out and recommend a solution.
