Mr. McBride did a wonderful job fixing the chairs that had been in the family for some time. He was very professional and we are very happy with the work. We will recommend him to our family and friends.

My experience was wonderful. Mr. McBride took a look at the chair and told me he could replace the parts that weren't working. He told me it would take about a week or 10 days to get the parts in and install them and gave me a ballpark of what the cost would be. We agreed that he would make the repairs and, if anything cost more, he would give me a call. He called to let me know that the repairs we talked about had been done to the chair. He said there was one more part he could swap out to make it sit perfectly but that the chair was where you could now use it properly if I wanted to pick it up then. I decided to go ahead with the additional part to make the chair like new. About a week later he called to let me know it was ready. I am so pleased with the chair, it is like new and it was an expensive chair. My husband can use it properly in his office again!
Description of Work: Mr. McBride took my nice heavy leather office chair and made it sittable again! He replaced all the components from the swivel bottom which had been stripped and left the chair where you couldn't sit in it properly.

Ken advised me of two options: a full refinishing or a refreshing. I chose the second option for budgetary reasons. I returned a couple days later to find the worst blemish diminished while all the others were gone. The fine glossy finish is now restored.
Description of Work: My wife is happy with me that I located a skilled craftsman to refresh the beautiful cherry wood table top that had accumulated a bunch of blemishes over the years. Ken restored the fine glossy finish. Price and service were spot-on.

The chair had come apart at the joints, and some of the motise joints had broken off in the joint. The chair was in several pieces. He repaired the joints and glued the chair to be very sturdy. I was very pleased with his work and the price. Super nice guy too!

Called and told the owner what was needed. Said he doesn't perform it. So I dropped off the door at the shop and was $85 to complete the work. I offered to pay right then but was told I could pay at pick up.

Kenneth does a fantastic job of keeping the antique pieces true to their period of construction. His work in refubrishing is out of this world. He is not fast but that is okay because the type of work that he done for us takes many painstaking hours to complete. We have used him multiple times in the past and have always been more than pleased with his work. As well, he is a genuinely nice person and that comes out in how he deals with people and how his work is done. I would highly recommend him for any type of refurbishing work both antique or otherwise.
Description of Work: We had just purchased an antique buffet that we had "dropped" when moving into our home which needed extensive repairs and as well it needed to be refurbished due to its neglect over the years.

The chairs feel like new. I always liked the chairs but thought I would have to replace them. Instead, I have my old chairs back but they feel like new chairs. The owner is very personable and professional. He did great work and much faster than I expected. I dropped them off on a Saturday and figured it would be a month before they would be done. He called on Thursday to say they were ready. I like fixing instead of replacing things and this gentleman made it possible. It was a pleasure and I will return to him soon.
Description of Work: Repaired three chairs, none of which I thought would be usable.

I spent about $300. The work turned out great. He's fast, he's professional, he does beautiful work, his price is reasonable, he's nice and he's just the greatest. I appreciate good wood working because I recover stuff and do re-upholsters and so on, so I know when a good job is done.

The chairs were in rough shape. One was left outside for a few months, others had dog bites along the dowels down on the bottom legs, all had various shades of fading from weather. They were going to be a challenge to refinish, but the old man said they don't make red oak chairs like this anymore and would be happy to work on them. The results were outstanding. I don't know how he did it, but even the dowel that the dog almost chewed through is unrecognizable. Very happy with the results. Gave a C on punctuality, but quality work takes longer than expected, and will be happy to wait when we go back again.

He has been highlighted in Angie’s list as an excellent service provider. He quoted me a price and then he discounted it because his work did not meet his standard. I thought it was reasonable price for the work that he did. He is a very skilled craftsman, and his standards are very high. I thought the table was fine. I will use him again in the future.

The cedar chest had a good part of the veneer pulled off and finish was in very bad condition on the outside. We had an antique family rocking chair refurbished from Mr. McBride at an earlier date and were so pleased we knew we could trust him with another family piece. The cedar chest looked like it just came off the show room floor. Absolutely amazing! I don't think anyone should look any further if they want their family heirlooms or any piece of furniture refinished and repaired. The man is a magician!! This piece was handed down. I can't wait for my Mother to see the results when she comes to visit for Easter!! She will be so pleased.

A friend had given me a huge antique dining room table with 3 leaves and I had taken out 1 leaf and by some freak accident it fell and cracked down the middle lengthwise about 8 inches or so. In a panic, I took it to Kenneth McBride and he fixed it so you can't tell it was ever broken. It is well worth your time and gas to drive across town to have the job done right. I was not only impressed with what a great job he did, but with what a gentleman he was. The epitome of class.

My dog had chewed a corner off of a Korean step-chest I got when living in SE Asia. I really thought I was going to have to throw it away until I saw the reviews on here for Abacus. I called Mr. McBride and delivered the furniture to him that very day. He told me it would take two weeks but that he could fix it. He told me the price up front. He called me just shy of the two weeks to say it was finished. The work is fantastic. I honestly cannot even tell where the damage was done and repaired. I was stunned to see that it was just perfect. Mr. McBride was easy to do business with and very professional. His workmanship is great and the price was very fair. I am only sorry I didn't take before and after photos to post on here. I will certainly recommend his services and I will use them again myself.

Kenneth is both passionate and knowledgable about furniture. He knows the purpose, history and details about furniture to the point that I feel he should have probably charged extra just for the history lesson. My family heirloom settle now means even more to me due to the background and history of this type of furniture in Texas that Kenneth was able to share with me. His work was flawless and he did exactly what he said he would. He brought my settle back to life and I expect to get another 100 years of service out of it. Kenneth is an exemplary craftsman and a man of his word. A dying breed if you ask me.

Kenneth Mcbride did extremely professional and outstanding work on this custom repair job. He installed a harder wood to last longer. He was more responsive and prompt than other companies that I called. Also his price was lower than other quotes. The only bother was that as he works alone, I had to bring the piece of furniture to him. But it was worth it, the drawers are perfectly aligned and slide smoothly, as they did 45 years ago when the dresser was purchased. He's a true craftsman and does all his own work.

He called me on Dec 30 to tell me that the legs were ready. Job is perfect. You would not know that the legs had been repaired without looking closely. Collected them. Reassembled the table at home - and table was ready for New Year's eve. Cost - $200. With the repair Mr McBride has done, the legs are probably stronger than they have been since they were built - probably in the 50s or 60s.
Description of Work: Our dining room table collapsed during Christmas meal. One pair of legs split (legs in an X-shape) and collapsed with a bang. Other pair had been repaired previously but was failing again. Had folk coming for dinner on New Year's eve - so important to have repair done before then - if possible. Called a repair shop recommended by a neighbor. They were unable to contemplate a repair before New Year's eve. Called Mr McBride. He said to bring both legs over. I did. He said he thought the legs were repairable - and agreed to try to do so by New Year's eve. He estimated $200.
