The first time I called, he knew exactly what I was needing, so I brought it in and he ordered the pieces. He then had to install the pieces to fit properly, which was perfect ! It was all done in a timely manner. It was a pleasure doing business with Mr. McBride, he is very nice.

Easy drop off at his location. I told him to take his time as I was not in a rush to have them back. He called a few weeks later to say they were ready for pick up. I picked them up.
Description of Work: Mr. McBride reglued six dining room chairs that were squeaky and falling apart. These chairs are from a dining room set that are over 60 years old. He did a fabulous job!

He asked me to bring the paint since I was specifying the color and was excellent in instructing me on how much paint to purchase, where and what brand. He quoted me a price and charged me exactly what he quoted me although I believe the job of stripping the bed frame and head board was more extensive that he thought originally. I used Abacus in the 1980s when I lived in Houston the first time. He continues to give excellent service and value.

In 30 words or less: Repair went well.
Description of Work: Great service ,quality, friendly attitude, Job finished early and was complete. Table had table legs that had sheared off due to hyde glue failure and ancient biscuts and dowells. Shearing took place when table was moved incorrectly. Repair is seamless and not obvious at all. Table retains antique value. I will keep this craftsman busy and look forward to a long business relationship. He knows what he is doing. Robert Walker

The repairs were completed in a reasonable time period. The price was exactly the initial quote, and the workmanship was very good. Mr. McBride explained the work he did and why. He was very professional and a delight to do business with. I would definitely contact him for future repairs.
Description of Work: I had two pieces of 60+ year old bedroom furniture that needed veneer repair. I did not want to spend a great deal on the furniture since I felt it was worth more for sentimental reasons than actual value. I did want it repaired, however, so that it could be used and look reasonably nice. Mr. McBride asked me to bring over pictures of the furniture and then gave me an estimate based on the pictures. His estimate was much, much lower than the two other shops I had contacted, and was probably more in line with the extent of work I was looking for.. I decided to have him do the repairs.

Mr. McBride was extremely helpful and patient. He repaired the chair in a single day! He also helped me unload and load the chair into the back of my car. I would take any furniture needing repairs to him again. I think he may offer pickup service but I was able to deliver the chair in my SUV.

Mr. McBride did an excellent job on repairing the nightstand quickly. I took it on a Monday and it was ready Thursday. I really cannot see the repairs at all and its like it never was broken. Besides the amazing work his prices are reasonable, he's very professional and pleasant. I highly recommend him. I definitely will use him again.
Description of Work: I purchased two antique Louis XV nightstands on Ebay. Unfortunately one arrived with two legs broken. They are beautiful and I didn't want my money back just to have them repaired. I called Mr McBride and he had me bring the nightstand to his home. He gave me an estimate which was very reasonable and explained how he would repair it.

Mr. McBride recognized the make of the furniture. When the craftsman was in the Heights, their stores had been adjacent to one another. He repaired the furniture quickly (about 2 weeks). I really cannot see the repairs at all. It is all just like new. He also explained the reason the original maker's work had failed over time and how his repair would be lifetime. Besides the amazing work at an astounding price, he's very professional and pleasant. I highly recommend him and am taking more pieces to him.
Description of Work: I had purchased some custom made end tables, a coffee table and other items from a craftsman that had operated in the Heights and then relocated to the Village. The furniture had a mahogany veneer on the edges of the tables. Over time the veneer came loose. I had attempted to re-glue it myself to no avail. Parts of the veneer had broken off and were missing.

I dropped the chair off at his house/office and he gave me an estimate and time of completion. Both were accurate and reasonable. When I picked up the chair, he showed me what he had done and explained what work the chair might need in the future, but stated that it could be put off for some time. Overall, he was a very nice, courteous person and his work was top-notch. The chair looks and works great now!

I checked with the retail store where I bought the set and the casters are not available any more. Because of the way the rattan chairs were made, casters from Home Depot would not work. Mr. McBride re-worked the bottom of the leg/caster receptacle and replaced the casters with some from Home Depot. He explained to me beforehand what he was going to do and how. If they wear out in the future, I can get replacements at Home Depot myself. He does live a ways from me, but it was worth the trips. I had to take 2 chairs at a time since that is all that would fit in my car. I took 2 when I picked up the first 2, etc. The cost was a little higher than quoted at first, but worth it to keep the chairs. I did not want to have to buy new chairs! He is very good at what he does and I would use him again.
Description of Work: I had 6 chairs in a rattan breakfast room set that needed casters replaced. The casters were rubber outside and were breaking apart on my tile floors. They were not available at the store where I bought the set any more.

I was very pleased with their service. The only problem was that he wrote down the wrong phone number and so didn't call me for a long time after it was finished. Apart from that it was very good and he was very pleasant. He showed a lot of interest in the piece and it is beautiful. It is a pure mahogany piece which I didn't know, you just wouldn't believe the difference with what he did. I currently have another piece there that they are working on. If you wanted a piece done in a hurry I wouldn't go to him, but if you don't mind how long it takes then he is great.
