South Texas Home Improvements is Family owned and operated, we offer residential and commercial business. With happy references from our clients, for we make them our 1st priority. Ask us about our military/veterans/citizens discounts.

"EXTREMELY HORRIBLE! 0 STARS!! WILL NEVER RECOMMEND!! They were hired on July 10, 2024 & fired on July 18, 2024 The first 2 days Ramiro Martinez & his crew showed up early BUT after down payment of $3,500 of the $4,500 was given they started slacking. 2 days of non work, by choice. Little to no communication on missed days & he wasn’t sure half the time if his workers were at our house or not. Lost our house key on the first day of work leaving us to rekey our entire home. Did not at all know how to clean up after themselves. Mess everywhere, food cans from their lunches everywhere, they left my restroom totally a mess with pee on the rimming of the toilet & feces on the rim as well. They ruined personal property such as a rocking chair the kids great grandmother gave them, mats, curtains, carpets. They were using my good personal hand towels as well as my children’s wash cloths to wash their equipment. Once fired due to incompetence & unsatisfactory work my husband & I had to finish & redo all if not most of the “work” they did. They didn’t use the equipment they said they were from the initial meeting. They were unprepared & used all my house cleaning supplies to clean. I had to tell them to go buy their own once all my supplies were diminished. Even after using all my supplies they still left our house a disaster. It took my husband & I over 2 1/2 days to clean up their mess. Had to replace over $1,000 of things they used & messed up due to their negligence & no prep work was done to ensure our personal furniture would be safe. They told me I could stay there with my kids but brought in unplanned heavy equipment which made it inhabitable for my small children leaving us without our home for a week in a hotel. Yet another unnecessary expense. When asked for half our deposit back which was $1750 Ramiro verbally & in writing via email stated he would pay us back only $1700 in 2 weeks on August 2, 2024. 2 weeks came & nothing, no payment, instead got threatened with a harassment charge & had to seek legal counseling about what we could do. We paid more than half of the full. When we asked about half in the beginning & rest at completion like a normal contractor would ask for he complained his men needed to be paid to work & he had no money other than our down payment to pay them. After payment only 2 guys showed up instead of the original 4 men that were on the first day. Very very very bad business practices. They used our paint we had bought, we had to buy more paint for them in the middle of the project after stating in the initial meeting they would get the paint & it was apart of the cost. They left a big mess of waste in my backyard, left paint all in my garden bed up front & my pets started eating the waste they left in the backyard & got very sick. It also killed my backyard grass. My husband had to leave work early one day to make sure they were doing work & to get rid of the waste they left in the backyard, my husband also had to miss a day of work to repair some of the major issues they left behind & did improperly. Yet another financial burden caused by Ramiro Martinez & Kimberly Perez at R&K. We had a party the weekend after on July 20th which was made known at the initial meeting & promised all work would be done & cleaned. It wasn’t. I had to clean up from 5am till 3am for 2 days straight & started bleeding from exhaustion being in late pregnancy. We documented, recorded & took pictures of all the mess, text messages, conversations & times they came & left caught on our cameras in our home & each room they left unfinished, along with the work my husband & I had to redo. We are still coming across things they had ruined almost a month later & need to be redone or replaced. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. This was our first time hiring anyone to do any work on our house & after this experience it will be the last as well. Last time we will be using Angi’s list to find anyone too. They not only put a bad name on themselves given I’m not the only review that is absolutely horrified by their work, but a bad name on angis list too. This whole agreement & work with R&K has left us out financially, emotionally & physically. Will never recommend & will always talk about this experience to ensure this never happens to anyone else again."

We are a family owned and operated company that have been in this business for slightly over 15years. We do a wide range of interior and exterior remodeling. We do not touch too much major plumbing or electrical work.

"I would never recommend this group to anyone. The project was left an unfinished mess with much of the work they did complete having to be repaired/cleaned up/ re done by another contractor. They sadly were paid in full after their personal request, our fault and lesson learned, but after paying them they never returned funds or followed through on the many "I will make it right" promises. They now operate under the name "Over the Best Remodeling" and we have had to turn the matter over to legal counsel due to the epic issues associated with their "work" on our project. They no-showed, lied and made many unprofessional mistakes even while we provided them ample time in order to correct the issue. Do not use this group."

All Squared Away Construction LLC was established in 2013 by Justin Morgan with the goal of becoming San Antonio's best general contracting firm. Specializing in multi-family housing and residential remodeling, one of our greatest assets is the level of commitment we bring to every job. The integrity of our company begins with strong work ethic combined with a highly experienced and knowledgeable team creating the ultimate foundation for any project. Our main focus is client satisfaction along with meeting expectations to achieve project success.

"Terrible. Do not trust this contractor. Substandard work throughout (collapsing bedroom ceiling after framing and drywall was applied to enlarge the bedroom), very poor quality painting, dangerous and shoddy electrical work in my attic, and the contractor failed to repair the damage his debris bin caused to my asphalt driveway. Absolutely terrible experience. Sadly, the VA Regional Office in Houston paid him in full and denied me the opportunity to contest his outright lies about the asphalt damage. I shudder to think what happens to my fellow disabled Veterans who lack the background I have in electrical work, painting, etc. when this contractor does VA funded remodeling in their homes. I’ve had to involve VA Headquarters in Washington DC on these issues. I am a longtime Veterans advocate. David K Winnett, Jr. Captain, USMC (Ret.) 100% Disabled Veteran (Paraplegic) Programmatic Review Panelist for Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) Advocate, Veterans for Common Sense"

Drywall services FAQs

On average, drywall installation costs $2,000, depending on the size, complexity, accessibility, and location of the job. The typical cost range is from about $400 to $6,000, which includes materials and labor. Additional cost factors include the thickness of the drywall, the shape and height of the room, and the level of finish. The level of finish ranges from only hanging the drywall to taping and mudding the seams between panels to painting the walls.

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.

The average cost to apply a skip-trowel drywall texture to walls is $1.25 to $2.00 per square foot. Ceilings cost slightly more because of the increased difficulty of working overhead. Additional cost factors include any drywall repairs and removal of existing textures or wallpaper.

The typical cost to repair drywall ranges from $300 to $900 for walls, and about $440 to $1,520 for ceilings. Cost factors include the size of the repairs and how extensive and specialized the repairs are. Average drywall repair cost ranges include:

  • Small holes (up to four inches across): $60–$200

  • Large holes: $50–$75 per square foot

  • Cracks: $60–$400

  • Dents: $60–$200

  • Ceiling repair: $320–$1,300

  • Water damage: $1,300–$5,550

  • Nail pop repairs: $60–$200

The cost to skim coat drywall is $1.15 to $1.35 per square foot. Most of the cost is labor, for the necessary skills to apply the skim coat with precision using high-quality tools. This is a job better left to the professionals for the best outcomes.
