We contacted Mike due to poor workmanship and bad advice by our last landscaper. Mike arrived to give us an estimate at the scheduled time and came up with a great plan for our re-do. Mike and his crew were punctual, professional and courteous throughout the job. Mike was at the job everyday supervising and answered all our questions and concerns during the job. We highly recommend Mike and his crew for a job well done.

Extremely thoughtful design. I got multiple bids for this project due to its scale, and decided to work with Michael because he had the most thorough design. It was very well planned and I feel like he went the extra mile on the prep side to earn my business. Additionally, his price per plant was equal to or less than other options in every instance. Professional, on time, good hardworking crew and Michael was present every single day they worked. Weeks later he still responds to sprinkler and plant questions the same day I text him
Description of Work: Fully removed landscaping of previous homeowner, design and implement new landscaping, repair and expand irrigation system, some masonry work to build a flower bed and a retaining wall.
The landscaping and lighting work we had engaged Landscape Innovations to do went very well! During the project, my wife and I made a few changes to the original plan we approved which required additional landscaping to be worked in. Mike received these changes without hesitation and was able to complete the changes we requested. Mike was extremely hands-on with his crew and completed the work to our complete satisfaction. We had a great experience with Mike Rohe and will definitely use his company for our future landscaping needs.
Description of Work: My wife and I were wanting to add landscaping, lighting and seasonal color to our front yard along with a complete landscaping redesign in our back yard. I originally called three landscape companies to come to our home to listen to our ideas and provide suggestions on how to transform our yard in line with our vision. Mike Rohe, owner of Landscape Innovations was the first appointment we had. Mike arrived at our home as scheduled and proceeded to listen to our concerns while offering suggestions for us to consider. Mike did a thorough walk-thru on his own and before leaving, indicated that he would have a written proposal back to us within 2-3 days. Needless to say, we were surprised to find that Mike had completed the design work and emailed his proposal along with an estimate the very next day. We had a second company out the following day and walked through the yard with the owner of that company. A few days later, we received the second proposal and estimate. After reviewing both proposals with attached estimates for the scope of work, we decided to cancel the third appointment and hired Mike Rohe with Landscape Innovations to complete the work.

Mike and his crew did an INCREDIBLE job! Hired them to re-do flowerbed paver edging & tree ring. They replaced with stone & brick to match the house. It made an AMAZING difference in our front yard! It matches the stone and brick on our house so well, it looks like it was done when the house was built! The crew has a great work ethic arriving in the morning, working all day to get the job completed. Our project took 2 days, but when they left they cleaned up beautifully - washing away dirt, sweeping, raking up grass around the tree ring and hauling away old pavers. We were left with a beautiful front yard! Great job, Mike Rohe & Crew! Would definitely recommend and use again!

They were exemplary in design, professionalism, and our need for rapid install before Thanksgiving company. I am a detail person, so I had him show me his suggestions for the different areas, he listened to my specific tree choices, started right away, stayed with the project all day to refine his design while the plants were there. He had ideas that were big improvements of an area that I didn't think of (too many blank spaces). I did ask him to detail number and size of all plants that were on his proposal. I cut out a few things (not a big fan of big rocks), etc, and at no extra cost, he adjusted all my sprinklers and drip lines to go with the new plants. The little trees looked like tall sticks, but they bloomed out gorgiously like he said they would early spring. Unlike many landscapers, he didn't want to charge me for his ideas, a plan, his suggestions, and he came up with many touches that enhanced all. Love it. He was great to work with. It was paid by check. From experience, most contractors don't take credit cards. They worked so hard all day and the result was fantastic.
Description of Work: Plan & plant plants and flowers all across the front of the house. Nothing hedgy. Easy care for Texas weather. Flowering plants too. Plan and plant my huge backyard with lagoon pool wherein I wanted flowey plants that moved in the wind, palm trees, hardy colorful annuals in spots, variations in green plants, lots of little crepe myrtle trees positioned across the long long back fence. A tree that grows fast and leafs out very well to help block summer's western afternoon sun.

I do not disagree with the client's dissatisfaction with the project. It was a masonry and very small iron fence project for a courtyard that we custom built. There were stone columns with cast stone caps and large fabricated concrete pads that we designed and poured for a large seating area.. The masonry looked great. The problem, however, arose when my iron work contractor, who does small jobs for me, could not fabricate and install the very small section of iron fence 17'x3' high around the courtyard to enclose it attaching the iron fence to the custom built columns. The reason was his wife became very ill before he could get started on the fence. He spent several months not working due to her illness. I explained that to the client. There were also several days/weeks when the weather did not allow us to pour cement or install masonry due to rain and freezes. I am certain that with the weather delays, the client wasn't having any of the reasons for the iron work not being completed. I did attempt to find another iron fence contractor but the project was so small and everyone so busy that it was a futile attempt. It was very frustrating to me as well since there was a significant portion of the project that was completed and still not paid for. I did request payment for all of the work that had been COMPLETED which I typically never do since I wasn't sure when or how I could find a fence installer to replace my guy and I just wanted payment for the work completed. In closing, I apologized for the delay and the unfinished work but really, I had no control over a loved ones illness. We work diligently to provide our customers with the highest quality workmanship and service. Once again, apologies to my client........

I have hired Landscape Innovations to finish up the backyard flooring (flagstone and pavers) and outdoor BBQ kitchen that was partially done by some other contractor. Mike and his team were extremely professional right from the beginning. It was a difficult task, as the prior contractor messed up so much that they had to tear things apart and rebuild it again. Mike absorbed the additional cost. They cleaned up the site nicely after the job is done. They did a GREAT JOB overall!

After initial contact with Landscape Innovations, Mike (owner) set a time to meet that was convenient for our working household. He took the time to survey, measure and develop a plan to completely renovate our front yard landscaping and add some shade trees on the side of the house. The quote was detailed and fair, and Mike took the time to visit with us again to walk through the details before beginning the work. The crew was prompt and professional, and completed the work on schedule. Mike and his crew completely transformed the front of our home! The layout complements our home's architectural features, and the colors work together beautifully. Our neighbors have been coming by to compliment the new look. Great job!

The best part is they showed up on time. The worst part is they asked for payment before the job was finished even though I told them I didn't want to do that. They gave me a hard time about it. It ended up not finishing as soon as they did get the payment. I was not very happy. They did 90% of the work. He got to the point that I guess he felt it was good enough. I'd given up. I have someone else finish it.

This is Michael Rohe, owner of Landscape Innovations. We did not perform any work for this individual! It is my understanding that there is another company with the same name and we are not that company! We did not work at the address indicated in this review! If so, I am certainly not aware of it! I have no record or file for this residence and am certainly unaware of any customer with this name's dissatisfaction with our work. I think he has the wrong company! Also, it is our policy to never request final payment for a project until the client is completely satisfied with our work! If there is work added to the original scope, then we do request payment for the work that was completed in the original contract. I think this a case of mistaken identity!!!

We contacted 3 companies based on the comments and recommendations here on Angie’s List. Of the 3, Landscape Innovations was the ONLY one to responded! Being a person that loves flowers, I wanted to change the evergreen in our backyard as well as add flowers to the front, Mike Rohe (the owner) came by and I was able to express to him my wishes for both the front and back yard. He sent me an estimate with the breakdown of flowers and plants he was going to provided. I had the opportunity to look them up on the internet. I was ecstatic at the colorful flowers and plants that he purposed to me. Mike and his crew was able to complete the job the same week that he contacted me. They were on time, extremely professional and considerate of our property. I would definitely use Landscape Innovations again.
Description of Work: Partial landscaping for the front and backyard.
Mike, the owner. is great to work with. He is knowledgeable and very responsive. We had no trouble getting in touch with Mike when we needed him and he was diligent about keeping us informed about scheduling and any issues that arose during the project. Last year we had several companies come out and quote on our drainage problem. Mike was the only one who recognized that the biggest contributing factor to our drainage the problem was the runoff from our roof. Since he addressed the drainage problem we have never had standing water in our yard even after massive rains. Our stamped concrete patio is beautiful. It is textured and colored to look like flagstone. We also had Mike build a grill Island out of natural stone and it complements our house and patio nicely. Because the area outside of the patio that needed to be regraded was substantial and ran under massive live oaks we had Mike come back this year and build beds and paths that has transformed our yard. This was a huge project. Mike took our vision and added his artistic touch and extensive knowledge to make it all come to life. We love working with Mike and plan to do a few more projects with him in the future. I would highly recommend working with this company.
Description of Work: We've used Mike for several projects. Last year he addressed a yard drainage problem by installing a french drain and connecting downspouts from our roof into the drain. He also took out our old patio which was original to the home and regraded the patio area along with a large swath of our yard to run water away from the house. He installed a new stamped concrete patio and grill island. This year we had Mike come back and install beds and landscape the yard and install an irrigation system for our entire property. The price estimate above is for this year's project.

At the outset, I would give Landscape Innovations high marks for the work that in many ways exceeded my expectations going into this project. The initial vision was to renovate existing landscaping in front of the house. While we had a general idea as to what was needed to be accomplished, Mike?s years of experience took the worry out of what needed to be done. His suggestions were spot on and I found the value for the work he provided to be good. Virtually ever detail was assessed; trees that could be saved were pruned up, shrubs replaced, landscape edging tastefully applied. The lawn was replaced and the sprinkler system tuned up. The uplights on the house were converted to LED. We felt comfortable working with Mike and extended the job in the front of the house to a remodel of the back yard with pruning existing bushes, taking some out, adding some new plants and new landscape beds. Landscape pebbles and path / tree lighting provided a lot of wow. The yard is beautiful. Mike was easy to work with. He was a good listener and was never overbearing in any manner. He really wanted us to be very happy and proud of the detail he put into the project. The project moved along as well. The plumbing, electrical and landscaping all went in parallel. Things that needed tweaking or rethinking were quickly handled. One of the requirements that I had was that there would be seasonal and annual follow-up as needed. As the work was just completed, I will report on this follow-up down the road. Being a few weeks out, the only thing I would have asked Mike to have done beyond what I contracted was for his crew to lay more plastic weed block down in renovated areas areas where he just cleaned up and mulched. I hate weeding. Overall, we were very satisfied with the work done by Landscape Innovations and without hesitation would hire him again or recommend him to other customers.

There was a clear failure to communicate between Landscape Innovation and my self. First, the retaining wall I wanted outside the 7 foot was placed inside. I paid an addition fee for a second footing for the retaining wall. The proposal called out 168 18? chop stone grey blend wall at $25 a foot for a total of $4200.00. I was told the only stone they found was a white stone and we used stone from around my yard. I ask getting some of the $4200 back because I provided the stone. Landscape Innovations told me, the $4200 was for setting the stone and had they provided the stone I would have been charged additional monies. Never mentioned in the proposal. Other things crept in such as grading which I did not ask for, ending up with a cost of $13,897.41 with me supplying the stone. Landscape innovations would have been the highest proposal.

The client indicated that the retaining wall to be built was to be 7' from the existing pool deck. He never mentioned inside wall or outside wall. We built the outside wall at exactly 7' and the customer then requested the wall to be moved so that the inside wall was 7' from the existing deck. I mentioned to do so, there would be an additional charge since the footing had already been built according to the original specifications and the customer agreed to pay for the additional work. The customer also added work to the original project scope requesting that we remove a large mounded area of dirt to flatten the area for new sod. Essentially regrading an area 40'x50'. This grade work was not included in our proposal and equipment had to be brought in to do so. The customer also requested the retaining wall to be higher than originally proposed and we added several courses of stone and did not charge the customer for the additional materials and labor. At no time did the customer have any issues with what had been charged. This, frankly, is the first time I was aware of any dissatisfaction with the work that we provided. There seemed to be no issues while we were on the project annd we received final payment for the work.
The work was terrific - our backyard looks completely different now and Mike made the new design flow throughout the back yard to give it a consistent look. We will definitely use him again for future projects.

As with our first experience with Landscape Innovations, everything went very well. The project was delayed by the intense rains this season but once they started it only took about 3 days to complete. Mike has built a very good crew of very professional and capable hands and they are all a pleasure to work with. Martin supervises most of the landscape work and Cesar handles irrigation. Both do nice work There were a couple of follow up things to be done and Mike timely attended to them all. All in all, I vote for Landscape Innovations as most favored contractor. Great to do business with and the end result is well worth it. We recommended him to our daughter for re-doing their yard after installing a pool. Thank you Mike.

We asked for our garden to be spruced up before putting the house on the market. Mike seemed very sure of what needed to be done. Punctuality was great, the job itself was completed OK but definitely not perfect. The small flagstone area that the crew put in in front of the garden gate has been wobbly from the start. The flowers and caladiums that were planted looked OK but we don't feel that much thought was given to the overall design nor the placement of the plants in terms of shade/sun. Consequently some of the plants that are shade plants have started to suffer from exposure to too much sun in the location they were put in. This was a run-of-the-mill approach with and emphasis on a quick fix only. Quite a few things that Mike said would be done were not done - the crepe myrtles in the front were not pruned, and a few container plants he said would be used in the landscaping were not used. What really bothered us was that he sent his bill by email when his workers were still here putting in plants. This was the fastest invoice we have ever received! But it was in keeping with the overall approach. If I had to describe this job I would say it looked OK in some places for 4 weeks, and I guess it helped getting the house sold but I would not use this company again as their approach was quite unimaginative and a bit careless overall. However if you need a quick fix I would recommend them. Just not for a longer term effect.

In response to these comments, the customer as mentioned in her comments, was looking for a QUICK FIX to her yard, as she was in a hurry to put it on the market! She did not want to spend the amount of money that it would have taken to really spruce it up. We pruned, weeded removed old landscape and added a substantial amount of new plantings, flowers and hardscape. The house looked awesome when we were done compared to what it looked like before we started. It sold almost immediately and I am certain the new landscape had much to do with it! As far as loose flagstone in a pathway, we did not mortar it but laid it in the existing soil and anyone knows that they will wobble a little until they settle into the existing soil. I never heard from this client after the job was completed and had no idea that she was unhappy with any phase of the project. As far as the invoice being sent while we were still working, I frequently do that when I get a chance to get by my office since I am on projects all day. I never expect payment however until the job is satisfactorily completed. In closing, if (removed member name) had any dissatisfaction with our work, she could have let me know and did not have to pay me until she was completely satisfied. I tend to think that several of the beautiful plants that we planted were not watered or maintained sufficiently to keep them healthy. Again, the house sold immediately which would have been a challenge had we not done the beautiful landscape that we did.
Mike is truly innovative and imaginative. He came out, looked over our too heavily planted areas and made some suggestions to use fewer plants, more boulders, dry stream bed, and more. His crew is very professional and the entire job took less than 3 days. Everything went as planned despite some cold and wet days. We are very pleased with the outcome and want to have him back to continue the theme for other parts of our yard. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and we felt he was doing our yard as he would his own.

This was the only time I have used their services. His quote was comparable to others and his design was good as well. The job took about two weeks from start to finish. During the job, I did find that some of the plants were priced higher and not as big as we had expected them to be. They did have to come back after completion as there were some electrical issues with the lighting. I also had them move some of the plants since they were not as large as expected when planning their location. However, since the plants were moved in the fall, they later died. I replaced them myself the next spring with plants that were the original height that I had wanted. Overall, my experience with them was good. I would recommend to others to research the price and size of plants before choosing them with Landscape Innovations. We are very happy with how the job looks now.
Description of Work: They did some landscaping in my backyard. They cleaned up the grass areas. They added landscaping around the pool that included Japanese Maples maple trees, some some edging, and other plants and trees to add more colors to the area and fence line. We did extensive work to this property after a new pool had been installed. It was a beautiful backyard to work with. There were some electrical issues with the lighting that we installed that our electrician spent several hours troubleshooting and found that some of the pool wiring that had been installed by the pool company, was not done properly. After we consulted with the electrician who installed the pool electrical, all issues were resolved. Also, I explained to the customer in the design that 15 gal. sized plants would be a better fit for the design that I proposed for more immediate coverage to a fence, but she did not want to pay the cost for a 15 gal., so we planted 5 gal which is what was budgeted. Some of the plants were moved several months after planting and a few did die due to transplant shock. They were fully healthy prior to transplanting. It was great working with this client and the yard looks teriffic! Any of the issues that arrived were not a result of our scope of work!

We did a very nice front yard landscape and re graded the backyard and re seeded it for the customer. We planted the yard in the early spring and certain areas where we planted impatiens, which are shade tolerant flowers, were very shaded at the time of planting. As the summer approached, the flowers became more exposed to direct sunlight due to the movement of the sun. We were asked to review what the flowers looked like and I immediately visited with the client and within 3 days replaced 180 (9) flats of 4" Impatiens with Begonias which can tolerate the summer sun. At the time of the original planting, I noticed that there was water puddeling at the edges of the flower beds and brought it to the attention of the customer. They felt, as did I, that it may have been due to over watering so we waited for some time to see if the water dissipated. When I returned to replace the flowers, the water was still standing so we ended up repairing the existing drip irrigation in the areas where it was leaking. That resolved the problem. Also at that time, the customer brought to my attention the Japanese maple that we planted had some synge/burn on some of the outer leaves. I explained that this sometimes happens with Japanese maples that are newly planted and suggested that the tree was completely healthy and we should wait for spring flush when it had been in the ground for a year and the new leaves came out. I have not heard back from the customer since our last correspondence in October and just read the review to my surprise. I have addressed all of the customers issues promptly and professionally and am not sure where my lack of follow up occurred. The customer was always accepting of my suggestions and the yard looks great!

My experience with this company was excellent. Mike came by and gave me a fair estimate for the work to be done. I had a short timeline that I needed him to meet and he over exceeded my expectations. His crew was professional and courteous and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend Landscape Innovations.
Description of Work: The provider touched up the landscaping in front of my house, re-landscaped my pool area, and weeded the area around my pool filter.

Mike was very responsive and provided his quote in a timely manner. He understood our desire to have minimal maintenance and still have greenery around the house. His team was on time every day, were pleasant and even worked the 4th of July. They delivered the project on time as committed. We had concerns with finish out and we addressed most of them along the way. We feel Mike was willing to address big items (dead plants and weeds in the flower beds 10 days after install) but some of his explanations seemed like pushback. We are very detail oriented people, and for $16k, I do expect perfection with the finished product. All items we brought to his attention were resolved to our satisfaction. Mike was on site every day, sometimes for several hours, making sure everything was on track and installed correctly. I would use Landscape Innovations again. They provided a great escape for family & friends for years to come.
