I found these guys through Angie's List. I called several of them and these guys were the first to respond with a guy onsite to do an estimate. On that same day they were able to repair both glasses because they happened to have them in stock so there was no curing to be done. They came over, repaired the glass, and cleaned up all of the residual glass. Very nice and kind people. When you have a door glass busted - you need quick service - especially on a Friday. These guys came through for me!

Happy as a clam in mud with this provider! I filled out the contact form on line, and they were in contact almost immediately. LOVED that. Their friendly office personnel scheduled a convenient time and they showed up ON TIME and were knowledgeable and courteous. Quoted a reasonable price on the spot, and told us they would be back out in about 2 weeks with the replacement glass and they were. Complete with a call the day prior, confirming the appointment. (Be still my heart! This level of customer service really does still exist!) Nicholas arrived right on time for the installation and was thorough and cleaned up everything from the glass to the work space 10+! Personality plus, professional, competent, clean, polite, informative ... explained everything. Could not have been happier with the professionalism, follow-up and quality of work performed. My level of delight is also heightened because we were a very small job. But they treated us no differently. A true sign of a business with ethics and a true business sense. We were too small for some companies. However, they are "smart" because they realize other windows could certainly fail in our 4-year old home and a golden referral is well, "golden". Nice job!

Crew arrived promptly and installed 10 windows in a day and a half. Very courteous and professional along with quality work performed. Chuck Jr. put up with my incessant questions with aplomb. Excellent customer service. Someone was always answering the phone and if I had questions an employee got back to me quickly. Price was competitive vs. other bids and I thought the materials were of superior quality compared to what I saw at big box construction supply stores. Windows were Low e 366 which is what we need in Texas. I'm very picky about quality work and have no reservations in recommending this company.

We had Lanham replace 21 windows in our home, and we are pleased with the final product. However, we were quite underwhelmed with the professionalism of the company's installers. We are not new to home renovation, and we are accustomed to workers properly preparing the home before work begins; i.e., laying paper walkways down from the entryway to the work area, generous protective drop cloths, wearing clean shoes or shoe covers, etc. Based on my favorable initial encounter with the Lanham owner who came to my home to provide an estimate and discuss the details of the job, I had no reason to believe that this project would be any different. The first step of window replacement is obviously old window removal, and this generates a surprising amount of dust and debris. I came home at lunchtime on the first day of work to find half the windows in the family room removed but with only a small drop cloth protecting the sofa closest to the windows. A coat of dust covered the coffee table, carpet, and wood floor at the far end of the room. The workers were out to lunch themselves, and I called the main office to ensure that before work resumed that they properly prepare the room. They did comply with my request. Unfortunately, I was not at home on the final day of work when they replaced the master bedroom windows, and I came home to find the light cream colored carpet adjacent to the windows generously smudged with dirty footprints. You will agree that it is reasonable to expect that newly installed windows be clean and streak-free at the conclusion of the job. This unfortunately was not the case, and it took two return trips and an uncomfortable discussion with the company owner involving texted photos of overt streaking before the job was completed to my satisfaction. The best feature of Lanham was their very competitive pricing for a quality window. For pricing alone I would re-hire Lanham, but I would police the workers like hawks to ensure that they do not cut corners.

I am very grateful to have the feedback advising of how we can do better. I would have loved for everything to go perfect. It sounds like we could, and should, have done much better. We did clean up after ourselves, but could have made our job much easier by utilizing more drop cloths. We do clean the windows, but we made an extra trip to clean once we realized that the glass appeared clean until the sun moved to the other side of the home. The customer told us the glass looked good until the late afternoon when the sun moved to that particular side of the home. We then arrived, to clean the glass, at the time of day when it appeared dirty. We have since invested in additional coverings for furniture and flooring to help with final cleanup. This is a direct result of conversations with this customer during the installation process. It is a very simple solution that we hope will make us look better to our future customers. Even though we have been in business since 1974, we are continually looking for ways to improve. Most of what we learn, we learn from our customers. I am sure when this customer is ready to do the balance of his windows, we will earn a more positive review.

I received estimates from three window companies before choosing Lanham. I was impressed with Lanham's quality of window and their very competitive pricing. I was also impressed that Lanham is a local and family-owned business which takes great pride in their product and their service. This is no fly-by-night window company, but it's also not one of the national brands that insist you pay as much for their name as you pay for their windows. Replacing all 33 windows in a house is no small project. Particularly where some are installed in brick, some in wood, some 9 feet tall, and some only a foot. There were many opportunities in a project this size for things to go wrong. However, the professional installation crew (actual employees of Lanham) did a fanstatic job every step of the way. Particular mention goes to the foreman of my crew, David, who patiently answered any questions I had and ensured everything was performed to the highest standards. We're very pleased with the final product and our decision to choose Lanham. It also meant a lot to me that I could call Chuck Lanham with any questions before or during the installation and he actually answered his phone.

Chuck Lanham Jr. came out to our house and provided us a quote on a new replacement patio door. We wanted a specific style of door with one color on the inside and a second color on the outside. He provided a very competitive quote and we decided to go with Lanham. We also requested a "rush" job if possible, in order to get the new door installed prior to a family reunion. Chuck said he would do his best to get it done in time. He sent out his installer, Danny to install the new door. Danny was very personable and did a "GREAT" job. It was a joy to have do the installation. We were very pleased with the entire experience. Lynn & Paula Miller.

Our residence is about 12 years old and the double paned windows originally installed in the house had become "foggy" throughout. After weighing whether we would repair, or replace these windows, we decided on Lanham Window Company based on feedback from their customers on Angie's List. They promptly showed up when scheduled, and completed the work on time for the cost agreed upon. The installers were courteous, professional, and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was completed.

Installer (Danny) showed up on time (a short window of between 8-9 a.m.) and very professionally removed the old window (after carefully covering the floor and tying back the drapes so that I didn't need to take down) and efficiently installed the new one. Resealed and cleaned up and the window matched perfectly the one it abuts and looks it looks great.
Description of Work: Replaced a double paned window that was original to our house built 8 years ago. It split on the inside when the weather changed drastically this spring. From first phone call, Lanham (Jackie answered and was very helpful) they were professional, helpful and courteous. We were in no hurry to get window replaced so we scheduled an appointment about two weeks out from our initial contact. In the meantime someone came out and measured and checked glass color, etc. They accepted the Angie's coupon for 10 % off very pleasantly.

I wasn't able to be there during instillation, but later I found that the doors did not line up with each other, the dead bolt was not aligned and did not always lock, the holes for the upper and lower locks were just sloppy drilled holes in the frame, the mortice on the dead bolt and latch plates were very rough cut, part of the threshold facing the outside was not supported, and they took part of the trim off of the opening and did not reinstall it. I think they took it with them because I can't even find it around the house. They did not get to the window that day. I called to ask them to come back out to get the window and requested they replace the vinyl bead on some other windows while they were there. They told me they would not do vinyl bead replacement. I assumed that meant on the other windows. Unfortunately, that meant not even the replacement glass. They siliconed in the glass pane. It looks very cheap. I bought some vinyl bead online and replaced it on the other windows, but the silicone in the one they repaired prevents the bead from being attached. In general this was not a professional instillation or repair. I could have done the job myself better and less money if I had known. They did come back out and fixed the dead bolt alignment.

Response from Lanham Window Co
I am disappointed to learn that this customer is not completely satisfied with my service. I replaced 2 pieces of broken single pane glass. The previous glass had been replaced with silicone. The silicone had been smeared all over the frame and glass itself. It is impossible to remove the sealant, once it is applied to the frame, to allow for the proper use of vinyl beading. I did not explain this to the customer at the point of sale and should have done that. This customer called our store shortly after the installation and had some concerns that we immediately took care of the very next day. I sold this customer a display door as-is and at a reduced price to fit their budget. This was at their request since they were trying to fix the home for sale. There were items the customer was to be responsible for in order to have a reduced price. I have used this review as an opportunity to show all our employees the importance of managing a customers expectations. Our numerous positive reviews illustrate a common theme with Lanham Window Company. We will learn from this experience and be a better company because of it.

The men work for Lanham, were punctual and did a good job. Unlike some companies, no one tried to sell me replacements for my other windows, which I appreciated. We had just completed a landscaping job and unfortunately one of the window installers stepped off his ladder and onto a low shrub and broke it off at the base. With all the work they had to do from the flowerbed, something like this was expected. I called the company and Mr. Lanham told me to buy the shrub and send him the bill, including the cost for having someone plant it, if needed. A quality response from a quality company.

After this last winter that was colder than usual, we decided it was time to get all of the windows in the house replaced. All of the windows were original to the house and some had broken seals, leading to the house not being energy efficient and a few windows that we could not see out of. We received three quotes, with two of those being from companies that I found on Angie?s List who had performed services in my general area within the recent past. All quotes were within a $9,000 to $12,000 range, depending on the type of window brand selected, features, etc. We chose to hire Lanham to do the work. Their quote was in the middle of other bids we received, so they were neither the lowest nor the highest. Chuck Lanham, Jr., the president of the company, came to do the initial quote. He did a quick measurement of the windows inside the house, then showed the window that his company makes. While other companies offer different window brands, Lanham produces their own brand, which is made in the DFW area. After reviewing all bids, we called Chuck to agree to a contract. He came back out on a Saturday to take final measurements outside, discuss the options such as color, grids, etc, and we signed the contract. The install work started 4 weeks after we signed the contract and it took a total of four days. On three of the days, one installer did all the work. On one day, two installers were on site. They moved furniture and took down blinds, though I also moved some furniture items and blinds myself to help them out. The lead installer for my job had been with Lanham for many years and was professional, friendly, and courteous. I checked in from time to time to see how the work was going, as I had never had windows replaced in a home before. He showed me where some of the original windows had come loose from the frame or even loose from the house at points, so they were truly not efficient at all. He used different color caulk for inside the house and outside the house. It has been two months since the windows were installed and we have noticed a reduction in the level of noise inside the house. More importantly, the house holds the inside temperature longer due to the more efficient windows. We look forward to lower air conditioning bills in the Texas summer. We have also received many compliments from our neighbors on how the new windows looks.

After research and review, we chose five window companies from Angie's List, each of whom had earned Angie's List highest award and offered quality products. In addition to Angie?s list, we reviewed the BBB, individual company websites and internet reviews on the open internet for each of them. We spent a long time researching windows and the needs specific to Texas. To qualify for an Energy Star rating in Texas, windows must have a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of less than 0.30 in Central Texas. U-factors must be kept below 0.35 in Central Texas. Low E 366 Glass is the best; this eliminates the need for us to reinstall our solar screens. We choose to install vinyl windows. All five companies use welded, not screwed frames. All products were similar in many factors; differences included hardware, color choices, types of gas used between the window, sills, frame, outside profile, etc. Although all were Energy Star, some were higher rated beyond the minimum requirements. Outside factors included evaluating how each company would handled our alarm system, which would impact additional cost to use. Since 14 of our 42 windows are installed in the back of the house, which has vinyl siding, we also needed a company that could work with the siding and the costs involved in that. The windows have a siding ?wrap? which would need to be replaced if it cannot be replaced without damage. We also have an area of rot where sprinkler beds have damaged wood and we need to have that area fixed. We decided to remove an outside door, which necessitated a siding "fill-in." Warranties and available financing options were also considered. In contacting the companies, we told them we expected a sales representative that was well-versed in their products (no trainees!) and who could suggest creative design options as well. In two cases, the company owner kept the appointment. Each appointment took between 2-3 hours. After we concluded all five appointments, we had learned a lot about the companies and window nuances, since our prior research had prepared us for questions! It might have been flattery, but two of the companies said they had never fielded such in-depth questions before, particularly on the specific glass products (Cardinal and Pittsburg Plate). One company (Lanham) provided a bid at the conclusion of the appointment. Three companies responded within two days; the final company never provided a bid. It was also the same company that did not bring a sample of their windows! They prefer to schedule a second appointment after you have consulted with all the other companies. We found that off-putting, particularly since we could not evaluate their actual product. After all the interviews, we firmed up what we actually wanted, which included converting five existing single-hung windows into picture windows, adding tempered glass in some critical areas, changing glass opacity in the bathrooms and ensuring every window met current code, even though our city does not require pulling a permit. We furnished our final specifications to each company to rebid. The final bids ranged from $16,000 to $40,000. We recognized the $40,000 product was slightly better, but knew we would never recoup that expense in the remaining time we expect to be in our home. In the end, we chose Lanham. They were not the lowest bid but we had a lot of confidence in the company. We liked Chuck Lanham?s attitude and philosophy. The are family owned and their installers are employees, not sub-contractors. Most of them have been with the company for many years. We like the caulking product they used and they addressed any brick problems that they encountered. The installation took five full days. They were careful with the emerging flower beds, moved all the furniture as needed and removed and replaced my window treatments with care. They were careful with cleanup, removed all the old windows and even ensured that one reusable window and the door we removed went to Habitat. Their care required almost no new siding replacement "wraps", except for areas with the newly-closed door and a couple of hail damaged areas. They matched the color well and replaced all the rotted wood. The additional siding cost was minimal. We told them we expected them to send their very best caulker; if we weren't happy with an area, they fixed it. We were picky and they completed everything to our satisfaction and more. When we remodeled our kitchen in December 2013, our remodeling contractor had a new window installed to replace the kitchen garden window. It was not even a year old and was horrible! The installation was botched, it wasn?t caulked properly and the crew removed structural components getting it to fit. Initially, when we talked with the five window companies, we had approached this window as a repair, requesting caulking and a proper outside frame to repair the one the previous window contractor had installed. After evaluating our whole house plan, we decided to replace the kitchen window as well, even though it was so new. When we contacted Chuck Lanham to adjust the bid, Chuck said, ?I?ve already included a new kitchen window in my bid for free. If you decide to choose me, I don?t want people coming to see your home and thinking that window represents my company.? That pretty much confirmed what our gut was telling us about Lanham Windows and Chuck Lanham, Jr. I think all the companies we chose to interview are good; they wouldn?t have won the levels of awards on Angie?s List to rise above the pack if they weren?t. However, Lanham Windows product and level of service are exceptional! We liked the Lanham Window product, the installation, the employees and the integrity and level of professionalism this company displays. We totally love our new windows and are already recognizing a difference in our heating bill. We believe your experience with Lanham Windows will be equality enthusiastic!!

Jackie is in charge of the installation schedule and calls all our customers, as a reminder, the day before we install. She is our current Employee of the Year. Your installer, Nick, was our Employee of the Year last year. All of our employees are equally impressive. Thanks again for the compliment and recognition.

They were the most professional, friendly glass company I've ever encountered. Totally on time, very conscious of cleaning up after themselves and very personable. Was very happy with their services.
