It went very well. I was very pleased with the service and their reliability. They were very upfront with just what we needed. They came out within a couple of days after I purchased the deal. I was very happy with them but it wasn't a wonderful, life-changing experience. From my experiences, they are reliable. They seem to be very honest. They give you a straight deal.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for Diamond Quality Services. They did a diagnostic for my heater or air conditioning system. I signed up for their maintenance service.

The phone call went really well, the woman (I unfortunately don't recall her name, but she was a hoot), was professional and very nice to work with. When the service techs arrived, they arrived on time, introduced themselves and removed their shoes when entering my home. I told them about the master bedroom not keeping up with the heat of the day and they starting searching. It took them less than 5 minutes to find the problem, the A/C unit in the attic that covers the floor that bedroom is on was missing it's filter door, thus causing the unit to try and cool air from the attic instead of cooling air from inside the home. Once they showed me what it looked like from the other unit, I remember when moving in we found something in a closet that looked just like it. They installed the door, completed the system audit and said everything else is working just fine. The room now mostly keeps up with the heat of the day, much better than it was. I would absolutely recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: Did a AC system audit and advised on room that wouldn't cool.

The provider was responsive to initial phone call to set up estimate. Provider arrived on time and was very knowledgable. I really liked his rationale for his recommendations to help insulate our house. He concluded the appointment promising an email in 1-2 days with the detailed estimate. Two weeks passed I never heard a word from him. I called the dispatch number the morning of 9/11, was promised a return call that day once the provider was reached as well as the promised estimate. Never heard back from anyone, never received an email. At this point even though we would have liked to use the provider, we will go elsewhere for the service. Very disappointed in the lack of follow through, did not expect that given the quality of the initial interaction. UPDATED IN REPSONSE TO PROVIDER'S POST: There was no verbal agreement between the provider and myself that cost was beyond our budget at the time of the estimate. I asked for a written estimate for both services, stating we would choose between the two options. The provider was very clear that he would email that to me, even verifying my email address before he left. As to the phone call on 9/11, I was promised a same day return call by the dispatcher on the phone. I did not ask for that but was told by the dispatcher that someone would get back to me that same day to make sure this was handled. She told me she was setting a reminder for herself for the end of the day so she would be sure to update me on the progress before close of business that day. My expectations for follow through were set directly by the provider.

Upon departure from the members home it was understood and agreed on by both parties that the price was beyond what the member wanted to spend for insulation and radiant barrier installation. Therefore initially, there was no written quote sent/e-mailed to the member other than what was verbally discussed with the member while at the home visit. Approximately two weeks later, Friday 9/11, our dispatcher received a message that the member was waiting on a quote and could we send it? Shortly thereafter (same day Friday 9/11), our dispatcher passed on the information to our employee so the employee could re-gather the information to supply the member with the quote by way of an e-mail. Over the same following weekend: (Note: business is closed weekends Saturday/Sunday and normal operating hours are posted on Angie's List), the member posted their review on Sunday before our employee could send the quote by email to the member. Obviously, there may have been miscommunication or unintentional oversight on our end of the members request for a (same day) phone call as well as an e-mail regarding a quote. We understand the member called us on Friday 9/11 and posted their review on Sunday 9/13. Prior to the above review being posted on 9/13 we had no reason to withhold a return call or quote a written estimate to this member. Our Mission: Diamond Quality Services is a group of dedicated professionals with a winning team spirit, and firm understanding of our business. We have a passion to serve those in need of our expertise and problem solving capabilities while diligently providing service beyond expectation. Diamond Quality Services

Provider was on time. Checked the A/c unit which was not running. He found the capacitor went bad. I asked him to replace it and he replaced it. I was charged for parts + labor (service fee) = 199 + 79 = 278 The main problem with the provider is the pricing of their parts. They charged me $199 for a capacitor which costs around $25-$80 in the market. A simple online search will show the price. This is a rip-off. The only reason Scott could give for their pricing is that they are charging this as an overhead for their "marketing", "stocking"... I cannot understand an 120-170 overhead on parts. This is a rip-off. Scott and his company can easily say that I could have chosen not to go with their capacitor and could have bought my own. That is true, but the point is their company is charging exorbitantly high price for their parts. I called them to have the AC fixed and not to have a diagnostic check and obviously this provider is taking undue advantage of the time constraints that customers usually are in this type of situations.

There is an exorbitant amount of information the member chose to leave out of the members review including a basic understanding of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services or economics 101. So in chronological order utilizing the detailed notes of our technician, dispatcher and field manager Scott Peterson. Our technician arrived on the call on time but could not immediately begin work as the diagnostics involved included electrical components and so our technician offered to wait in the service vehicle at the curb outside to see if the rain would halt. 15-20 minutes later, the rain subsided and our technician went with the member to look at the system which was not operational. Our technician, upon opening up the electrical panel and evaluating components found a bad capacitor and let the member know what he had found, gave the member the price of the part and asked the member if he could replace the part. The member told our technician to go ahead, that he wanted the bad part replaced and our technician proceeded to get the part off of his service vehicle and returned back to the member and to the outside unit to finish the repair and complete the service call. Once again, our technician made very detailed notes which were recorded to our CRM at the time of this appointment and are a part of record below. Also Note: 1. As soon as the part had been replaced and repair was complete the member took issue with the price. Also Note: 2. The member had done a search for parts on his phone (while waiting and watching) our technician repair his system that the member himself requested. The member hounded our technician to lower the price and belabor our technician over what he said he could buy the part for himself. Our technician explained he drove to the members home to perform a service call the member had requested, diagnosed the problem for the member, and repaired the members system upon the request of the member and that he didn't control pricing however, if the member wanted him to remove the part he could do that and if the member wanted to go and purchase the part the member found online and replace it himself that was perfectly acceptable. The member said "no, leave it on" and then the member went around the corner of the members home and called our dispatcher. The member received in a nutshell the same information received from our technician and then ended the call. The member returned to our technician after having the brief conversation with our dispatch and continued to blister and verbally attack our technician about price so our technician offered as a third party to speak with his field manager (Scott) about the members (delayed) price complaint. The member said he would speak to Scott and our technician called Scott and handed the phone over to the member. The member, highly agitated made more advances with verbal attacks and did not want to listen to what Scott had to say to try and answer the members question on parts pricing and told Scott that we were ripping him off. Note: it was more than clear this member could not back up his belligerent argument which is why the member then ended the call and when handing the phone back to our technician stated, "I don't want to speak to him anymore". Scott was simply trying to let the member know the same thing he had heard from our technician and dispatch and in going a step further letting the member know of the additional expenses involved in a business which reach beyond the initial pricing of what a part cost at the counter. After the call ended, our technician asked the member what he wanted to do about the part replacement and the member told our technician he wanted to keep the part that we replaced for him on his system and asked our technician what the total would be for today. Our technician answered the member and the member then asked if we accepted credit cards and since we do, our technician said yes and that he would meet the member out front as soon as he had his workspace cleaned up and would accept payment for the service call and part replacement. We think it's unfortunate to lose a client over doing what is right but we understand that in some cases it becomes absolutely necessary to let go so that we keep our focus on our mission. Our Mission: Diamond Quality Services is a group of dedicated professionals with a winning team spirit, and firm understanding of our business. Dear Member, At your appointment our technician (after checking the attic unit and clearing the clogged drain-line) diagnosed an issue with your system indicative of a restricted metering device. While the technician was at the appointment and (based on inspection/evaluation and gauge readings) explained the issue to the members wife and because the members husband was not home at that time, the members wife asked if our technician could call the members husband. Our technician said no problem and the call was made. Our technician explained to the members husband what had been found/evaluated through the diagnostics process and explained the recommendation of clearing a restricted metering device as it would not make sense to add refrigerant until the root cause of the issue had been resolved. In other words, only adding refrigerant would have not been the first-right course of action at the moment and based on what we know about recommendations from different manufacturers would only increase the risk of further damage to major components within the members ac system. With such a lack of information from the member in their review it is fair to say the member is insinuating that because we didn't add a pound of refrigerant (as the deal states-up to one pound) that the member didn't receive a complete job. Frankly, that isn't right. The refrigerant wasn't added because there was a diagnosed need for corrective repair/clearing a restrictive metering device. To simplify this for the member - the member just needs to understand you don't add refrigerant to a system to intentionally push it beyond or outside the scope of manufacturer recommendations. Doing so only creates further complications. So, having just added another pound of refrigerant at the (tune up appointment) would not have been the right thing for us to do in this instance and begs the question why the member instead chose to imply that we were incomplete or incorrect. Our diagnostics are clear and we have all the details thoroughly documented and recorded from the initial appointment to our CRM and we, Diamond Quality Services are providing all members this information in our response. Upon exiting for the ac tune up appointment our technician let the member know that he would relay the information to dispatch for first available scheduling, send a proposal for corrective repair/cleaning and also email the information to the member (same day). We didn't hear back from the member to schedule repair/cleaning. Not long after our technician had left the appointment, the member also spoke with one of the owners of our company saying he wanted to talk with people where he works for advice prior to recommended repair/cleaning/fix. The member received the information he requested from us and later informed us that the advice he received from the people at work was to just add more refrigerant to his ac system. Given the current pressures and readings on the system had we chosen to just add refrigerant without first making our best effort to handle (root cause) could have easily proved more damaging to other major components by a possible overcharging of the members system as mentioned above. A refrigerant metering device should be operating properly in order to obtain the utmost accuracy when determining whether or not refrigerant should be added in order to reach desired levels of both (subcool and superheat), arriving confidently within manufacturer specifications. Our Mission: Diamond Quality Services is a group of dedicated professionals with a winning team spirit, and firm understanding of our business. Our son has a house just 3 years old and while the AC was under warranty last year he called and the installers said it was fine. It went out and when he called back they told him it was no longer under warranty and it would be a couple months before they could come out. Another company said it would be a few weeks. So I called Diamond and they came out the same day and had it up and running in no time. I really appreciate their quick response with how hot it was and I will use this company the next time I have a need.

I think Scott at Diamond Quality is one of the best HVAC people in the metroplex. I've used him many times over the years. He is polite, thorough, smart, and very reasonable. On this job I had a unit that had a coil leak. I had another firm take one look at it and say, "nope you need a new unit" claiming that a new coil for my unit was unavailable anywhere. Scott was able to find one in 10 min, giving me the option to replace the coil, potentially saving me thousands. I ultimately decided to replace the whole system, but that was my choice. Scott always does right by the customer and in 5 years of using him I have never felt overcharged. Highly recommended.

These people have the right technology to be able to correctly charge an A/C system. Other providers I've used in the past haven't invested in the newer technologies and have messed up my A/C units before. So I've used Diamond before to charge my A/C unit, and this time as well they charged it with the proper amount, and the system cools well. My problem with this time was that I paid a $50 "diagnostic fee" (their term) but they didn't come into the house to check anything. Granted, I told them up front I knew it needed a charge, and that's exactly what they came and did, but I was told I had to pay the diagnostic fee anyway. At the end I asked if they would come inside and check the temperature of the air coming out of the vents, but they said they didn't have that equipment on the truck that day, which I found odd considering they're an HVAC company. So in the end I felt like they did a good job but I paid a "diagnostic fee" that didn't get used.

Dear Member, Thank you for your support. The $49 Angie's List deal was a service call/diagnostic, ($79 value). Once the technician arrived on the call, then uses proper tools/devices to run diagnostics in order to gain the information to then accurately recharge your ac system with the correct amount of refrigerant. High side and Low side diagnostics of the refrigeration system were performed outside at the condenser. It was our pleasure to have provided you the service you requested and great hearing your system is cooling well for you. We have also made a special note to provide you an inside temperature differential summary on any subsequent visit to your home. Well, first I had forgotten to leave my phone number, so they kindly tracked me down. Next, they weren't going to be able to come until after July 4th weekend and I was concerned that with the overflow drain dripping, the a/c wouldn't make it through the weekend. So they did some adjusting and came to see me early. My only complaint would be that the $49 prepay diagnostic service did not apply to the service. That being said, we were only charged an additional $125.00 for the drain cleaning.

Probably would have been a better deal had I had something wrong with our A/C; but I feel kind of like I paid $80 for someone to come over and up-sell me. Maybe I came into this with higher expectations when I bought a "tune-up" deal; but when I think tune-up, I was expecting filters to be washed, knobs to be turned...something to optimize it, make it colder, more efficient, something. Maybe this deal should have been labeled *$80 for A/C inspection* and I wouldn't have left with a bad taste in my mouth. The guy who came over was on time, prompt, professional; no problems communicating with the company. Just set my expectations too high.
Description of Work: Came to the house. Inspected the inside part of the A/C. Inspected the outside of the A/C. Said everything was fine. Then offered to replace some parts on the outside unit, and clean the inside unit @ around $600 for everything.

Dear member No, there was no up selling that took place at the tune up at your home. Definition of up selling: The verbal usage of the word, upsell, and its definition as taken from a common dictionary: "to try and persuade a customer to buy a more expensive item or to buy a related additional item at a discount." Source: dictionary.com What actually took place: There was a thorough ac tune up performed at your home, an inspection of both the inside and outside system and system diagnostics performed. At the tune up appointment there were 2 electrical components found weak and beyond manufacturer specifications and were recommended for replacement. Diagnostics of these electrical components were verified and documented to our system. A dirty evaporator coil (which included signs of visible microbial growth) was also discovered during diagnostics and a coil cleaning for enhanced cooling efficiency was recommended to the member. The day of the tune up, refrigerant levels verified within manufacturer specifications and pictures of gauge readings were uploaded and documented within our system as well. At the end of appointment the member asked our technician for a proposal so the member could check with his wife regarding recommended replacement of electrical components and cleaning of the coil recommended for overall ac system efficiency. The proposal was sent. We haven't heard back yet as to whether the member would like to have the recommended service(s) performed. Dear member, Thank you for your support. The person we attempted service for you in the Dallas area was scheduled for an ac tune up and our understanding is not an Angie's List member and may not be familiar with certain offers so it could be possible that's in where some of the difficulty arises in communication we received about initial scheduling. Multiple people being involved in the use of membership? We are not sure. The member being in Abilene, Tx or 3 hours from Dallas.. then through a friend to another friend being the one the ac tune up was scheduled for, or the homeowner purchased through a friends mothers membership account. Either way, as we have tried to make sense of what was relayed to dispatch during the course of providing attention to the matter there was no mention of a roof top system upon scheduling, just ac tune up. When our technician arrived he discovered the ac units were on top of the building/roof top units, he kindly informed the individual/homeowner that we do not service roof top units, he offered to look at any other issue or "indoor" units and the individual/homeowner said, "no and that he would get his money back through Angie's List and find someone that goes on roof tops". Our technician then courteously excused himself to move on with his continued schedule. Regarding dispatch: The comments by the member, or that are being relayed through the member regarding dispatch being unhelpful, not polite, not caring are unsubstantiated accusations and, the sense of urgency by our dispatch and the actions taken by our dispatcher to try and help this individual resolve an uncanny or unsettling situation would serve to disprove communication unpleasantries by dispatch. If dispatch were not trying to accommodate why then would the individual/homeowner have called back dispatch to change the call to a diagnostic/repair after the homeowner already sent our technician away and, at the same time be asking whether a reroute could be attempted later the same day? Could there have been a misunderstanding at this point with what the individual was scheduling for or had been previously scheduled for and then now, interested in a re-route service call to repair a roof top unit we don't access.. and having been informed by our technician prior to our technicians departure. What the dispatcher was aware of at the time and was communicating was what was initially communicated to us by the homeowner as a tune up. After our technician was sent away by the homeowner, the new interest by the homeowner became a same day roof-top unit repair. Had the individual allowed the technician (while he was there) a look at the system "inside the home" a possible fix may have been addressed at that time. However, as mentioned above the homeowner declined that offer by our technician on-site, and instead sent him away. Courteous behavior by the homeowner was also shown toward the technician as well from what we understand. Thank you for mentioning that in your review. Our dispatch had already begun the process for the change of service and looking for a possible re-route opportunity however, during this attempt to accommodate, the request was interrupted by the same individual/homeowner having just called back and leaving a message stating they would just contact someone else that would go on roof tops. We are sorry the member or friend of a friend of the member became irritated at our efforts to service the individual/homeowner through a deal purchased by a friend through his mother. Our Mission: Diamond Quality Services is a group of dedicated professionals with a winning team spirit, and firm understanding of our business. We have a passion to serve those in need of our expertise and problem solving capabilities while diligently providing service beyond expectation. Diamond Quality Services

This is a difficult review to write and I don't usually have any problem writing reviews so, let's just do this on the pros and cons PROS: * They were very responsive, which I didn't expect during the heat of summer * At first they said it would be 9 days before they'd get to our order. I wasn't too surprised but then she asked, "Are you having an issue with the unit"? I replied that it wasn't an emergency but the AC just isn't keeping up with the heat. Set the therm at 78 and during the hottest part of the day it might slowly climb up to 79 or so. She said she's see what she could do and promised to call me right back. She did and squeezed me in 4 days later. Impressive and excellent customer service! * Tech did indeed give me a 30-minute heads-up that he was on his way. Very helpful - I was able to go to work, come home and go back. * Tech was very punctual - the window was 10a - 11a (VERY rare to get a 1-hour window - another huge plus) * Tech was very friendly, pleasant and willing to explain what he was doing. * Tech seemed thorough in what all he was checking on the tune-up part Now for the CONS: * Tech was extremely young and inexperienced. As such some of the info he gave me just did not add up, at all. Example: He tried to convince me that installing a replacement system, whenever I wanted to do that, is more efficient if put in the attic. NO way this is true. At the end when he was testing temperature of output versus temp at the cold-air return he said it needed to be 15-degree difference. Flash alert: If the unit is in the attic where the temp is easily 120 in the summer does this mean the temp of the air at the registers is acceptable at 105 degrees? Another: Tech guessed at the age of the unit instead of taking my word for it that I had been given the exact age by a close friend that owned his own HVAC company for 30 years. I felt like he was just trying to sound like he knew what he was talking about versus really looking it up or just telling me he doesn't know. * Second Con and reason I gave a "C" on quality: He said it only needed 1/2 of freon and, in the end, my AC is not working any better. Yes, the temp at cold air return is 18 degrees wamer than what is coming out of the registers closest to the unit but - this AC used to keep up when temps outside were only in the high 90's. Only once it got up to over 101 did it start to lose ground. So how is this? He said everything on the tune-up end looked great - contacts barely pitted, all electric checks were good, everything is great...except it's not as cold as it was, even last summer. I did put I would use them again but I'm not positive I would. They had a lot of positives but if the end result is that you're no better off than before, what now? You decide. Am I being picky? Don't know. UPDATE: Shocking to me, they called and asked to come back and double-check the first technicians work. This time it was the owner! Now, that is service!! In the end, he spent a LOT of time educating me on all of the points I had questions about ... the young fella was spot-on.

My husband did some research and concluded that the capacitor must be broken. So we purchased a new one for $20. Since my husband did not have all the needed material to replace it and we already had scheduled the appointment we thought changing the capacitor might not be too expensive, max 100% more than the $20 we paid. It took the tech about 10 min to do the job. What a surprise as he quoted us $199. We asked him how that could be. He said we need to keep these parts in our track. At the end he gave us a 10% discount. We think that the price for something simple and inexpensive like this is a compete rip-off.

Dear member, We realize most people do not have all the materials to repair an HVAC system though there is so much more to it than that. We won't get into all the expenses of what professional service companies deal with on a regular basis to survive these expenses and also if fortunate enough to grow their companies and feed their families but it does add up to much more than the price for a part or the time involved in replacing one. To save this member more research and simplify it for this member this means there can be more expense in a part than just the part or time it takes to replace one, much more in fact. It would be sad to go in for surgery and wake up only to find something missing or replaced when the original part was working just fine. Or buying the wrong fuel for your car causing potential engine damage. So for a start it's important to have the right tools and training and a diagnostic skill-set to know which part or parts to replace.. certainly not the rip-off which this member stakes their claim. When our technician arrived he took ample time to professionally investigate the issue you were having with your system. During this time the members (husband and wife) were both home and were both outside with our technician and watching as he resolved the issue. When the issue was found to require a parts replacement to have the system fixed, the members after some side deliberation, agreed with each other to move forward and have the part replaced for $199. After the system was running properly outside and as soon as our technician was buttoning up the outside unit where the majority of the original diagnostics took place, the member began commenting about the price of the replacement "after previously agreeing" to the replacement. Our technician then returned inside the home along with the members to finish a temperature differential diagnostic/evaluation prior to his departure. When our technician came down from the upstairs of the home the member began to harass/badger our technician about the price to resolve/fix their ac system which had already taken place and which had been previously settled/agreed outside where the parts replacement had occurred. Our technician did make a technical error on price from $199 to $179 which lowered the invoice by 20 dollars all while trying to alleviate an uncomfortable situation with this member having previously agreed with the replacement/price. It's unfortunate to receive a D for that but we understand it because the member obviously wanted it all for $40. As a professional service company if we make a price error we take responsibility, learn all we can from it and we don't put that on the customer. If you're going to offer a really great SPECIAL on Angie's List for $79 for a tune-up and a free pound of refrigerant - make sure you have the staff to support such an offer!!! When I called Diamond Quality Services today (Jul 17) to set up an appt, I was told the earliest date a technician could arrive was to manage my A/C problem was July 28 (12 day waiting period). Two weeks is completely UNACCEPTABLE (The Diamond rep argued 12 days is not two weeks) nonetheless, 12 days is NOT an acceptable time-frame to have a technician come repair ones' A/C. Diamond should either add a disclaimer stating there is a VERY LENGTHY 12 day (or more) waiting period for this offer or remove it!! I Instead called (the VERY reliable) Frymire HVAC, they're coming out tomorrow afternoon (Jul18) to service the faulty unit. . . and they're ALSO are providing a special offer!!! Buyer beware, if it LQQks to good to be true, it usually is!! Just SAY NO to Diamond (not so) Quality Services!!!

Member, Our record of service stands above and in direct contrast to the statements provided by you and we appreciate you for ascribing validation to this popular AC Tune Up offer including refrigerant. It's been our pleasure to bring such a complete value to so many members who have been taking advantage of it throughout the spring/summer season through Angie's List. Note: We began offering this value-added AC tune-up in April and during high volume stretches the waiting list for this particular tune up has been, at times, up to 7 to 10 business days. 4 of the day's the member included in the review are weekends when we are closed. Another day the member included was the day the member called our dispatcher to express an interest in scheduling the tune up. This information will lend itself/impart to summarize the undisclosed inaccuracies of the members distorted tirade. While it is true that we are a smaller company running a tighter ship and cannot afford to have "extra employees" hanging about to pull up slack, we also have the advantage of focusing on what we have - not on what we don't have. It is also true that no matter how many employees we or any other company have on hand, this alone cannot take the place of the Diamond Quality Service we provide to every member we are fortunate to have the opportunity to serve. We understand the member made a choice to call someone else because the member found it unacceptable to wait their turn for the AC tune up. AC tune ups are different than AC down service calls. An AC down service call stems typically from a down AC system meaning "AC not working" similar to a car that won't start so someone is stranded or in distress. The scenario just above is descriptive of a diagnostic service call rather than a system tune up, because there is zero air comfort in the home. Our records indicate that we support everything we offer and so we will let our record stand on its own. We will always prioritize our work to the best of our ability and focus on our distinct advantages of running a tighter ship, enabling us to better serve all our clientele in as much a balanced way as would make sense for the growth of our company, including those who are scheduling with us for our thorough and complete AC system tune ups. We will continue to provide the highest level of quality and service beyond expectation to all Angie's List members choosing to work with Diamond Quality Services. Our Mission: Diamond Quality Services is a group of dedicated professionals with a winning team spirit, and firm understanding of our business. We have a passion to serve those in need of our expertise and problem solving capabilities while diligently providing service beyond expectation. Diamond Quality Services Customer care

the technician called to let me know that he was delayed a little on his current job and would be there a little later which I appreciated so that I was sitting there waiting for him to show up. After arriving, the technician determined my freon level was low and put two pounds into my system. Afterwards, the indications were that the system still wasn't right. He determined that the coil was still probably frozen, so he told me to leave the fan running to defrost the coil and that he would return in a couple of hours after his next service call. He called approx 2 hours later to inform me he was on his way back, which I definitely appreciated. Upon arriving, he hooked his equipment up again and verified that the system was running optimally once again. Diamond Quality Services are the best! They are punctual, professional, courteous, and charge a fair price! I highly recommend them for all of your ac and heating needs.
