Carl completed a project that I had been struggling with for over a year! What began as a simple master bath plumbing trim update turned into a frustrating nightmare. We were attempting to replace gold-tone, corroded shower heads, handles, lavatory faucets and tub faucets with new chrome trim pieces on existing valves. I had worked with an area plumbing supply showroom to make selections based on the existing valves we had in place. The shower and lavatories went as planned, but the tub turned into a major ordeal. The new Delta trim I had been advised to purchase by the showroom did not fit on the existing valves and there was no access below the tile surface on the tub platform. We had only two or three extra tiles for replacement if we decided to tear into the platform to make the changes needed. I went through a variety of plumbers and contractors to get suggestions on what we should do to complete our project. I was given a broad range of suggestions from pulling out the tub to gain access to replacing all the tile (which was exactly what we were trying to avoid.) I gave up a number of times and then one day I was searching Angies List for something else and I decided to renew my search for someone to help me finally finish my project. That's when I discovered Carl and Craftsman Connection! I called and Carl came over later that afternoon to look. It was a small job, comparatively, and probably not worth his time, but I guess he was sympathetic to all I had been going through and he agreed to take the challenge. He immediately gave me the name of a resource to find more of my tiles (which were discontinued) in case we would need them, but he ended up being able to remove select tiles to gain access to the valves and fittings inside the tub platform and he was able to install all the new plumbing fixtures and trim and replaced the select tiles with no collateral damage. It was amazing! I can't recommend him highly enough!

Excellent attention to details...discovered several measurement errors in cabinet design and submitted corrections prior to cabinet construction saving valuable time and construction costs. All work completed at a professional level and takes pride in doing the work. During sheet rock work on kitchen ceiling noticed a problem with a floor joint on second floor and a plumbing problem with a tub fixture...suggested repairs and completed work at a very reasonable price. These repairs saved me a considerable amount of time, money and frustration. He noticed the poor quality of work another contractor was doing on our floor tiling and pointed it out to me. I appreciated his concern and was able to hire another contractor in the early stages of the work saving me more money. Carl is very personable and easy to work with. I would highly recommend him for any project. I certainly intend to use him for future projects.

They provided excellent work. Though this was a very small job, he was able to fit us into his schedule even on the weekend. An excellent match was made on the drawer front and two side pieces in the fitting and finishing of the cabinetry. Carl and his crew did an excellent job in cleaning up and being on time. We would recommend them to anyone and would use them again in the future.

If you are not into long reviews then the short of it is we had a great experience and absolutely will be using Craftsman Connection (CC) in our next project. Also we would not hesitate to recommend to our friends, family and neighbors. I have interpreted "Price" above as "Value" as well. For us value comes not just in the surface of the finished project but a multitude of other factors. e.g. stress free project, flexibility, confidence that quality of work and material will endure until the next remodel. As it happens the initial quote from CC was lowest of the three we collected. Had we not changed scope I am sure that would have been the final price as well. For me the ideal contractor has these traits amongst others. 1) Communicates well and consistently. 2) Does what he says and says what he does. 3)Carries humility and confidence and enjoys his work. 4) Knows and executes his project and tasks as well as or better than anyone else. 5) Is reasonably flexible. I rate CC as superior for these traits. As in superior to any I've come across. And I am starting to get long of tooth. Carl, the owner, is a true craftsman that enjoys doing an exemplary job and so his company is well named. He is as detail oriented as anyone I've worked with and has good reasons for everything he does. More importantly if questioned there is no offense taken and explanations are forthright. This project was to remodel what we call our pool bath. We asked for design input and received that with plenty of comment on choices and taste. There was input about general considerations as well as specifics with choices listed. The input was multi-dimensional with thoughts on aesthetics, functionality and price among others. In some cases we followed those suggestions and others we chose our own way but in all cases we felt his efforts were to make us happy with the project. Despite dragging our feet on decisions and changing our minds and the scope of the project significantly the attitude never changed from one of serving us as best he could. That is rare in my experience and a thing that carries value beyond the price and finished product.

I got several quotes for the project. Most of the quotes were about the same price. I opted to go with Craftsman Connection for a couple of reasons. 1) Some neighbors had also used Craftsman Connection and were happy with the results, 2) Carl impressed me on his initial visit with his attention to detail. He spent over an hour reviewing my project, making detailed calculations and identifying potential issues and recommending possible solutions. For example, I wanted the new columns to be wider than the old columns. What I didn?t consider was that this would also make the new columns deeper, protruding further into the room than before. Carl identified this issue and suggested cutting off the back side of the columns so that they didn?t stick out any further than the original columns, but still giving me the look that I was going for. Carl ended up doing additional work for me that I had expected to be done by other contractors. I had hired a contractor (found on Angie?s List) to tile the floor to ceiling backsplash of my outdoor kitchen. The original contractor smeared some concrete over my brick and then told me he wouldn?t finish the tile work because it would be too hard to cut the tiles to accommodate the accent tiles. Carl stepped in to complete the job, even working very late one night to get it done. It looks beautiful. Carl also drywalled a hole in my ceiling where a light fixture used to be, and painted it to match the rest of the ceiling. Carl also installed a garbage disposal that was supposed to have been installed by the granite fabricator. I was very happy with the work done by Craftsman Connection.
Description of Work: My recent project was to make some modifications to my kitchen and family room. I wanted to change the posts on my island and around the stove and sink. I wanted to change the feet under the cabinets. I wanted to add an apron to my island. I wanted to change the under-mount sink to a farm sink, which required a new cabinet below the sink. I wanted to change the backsplash. In the family room, I needed the entertainment center modified to hold a newer/smaller flat screen tv. I also wanted to replace my fireplace mantle. I also wanted trim added around one window in my guest room.

Thank you for the review. I enjoyed working with you and look forward to future projects with you and the upcoming projects I have with your neighbors soon. We initially came out to look at some cabinet modifications to the island, modify built in TV cabinet for new flat screen, Window trim work, New farm style kitchen sink cabinet, kitchen backsplash and floor tile work, rustic fireplace mantle. I like to spend time going over all the details so we can get familiar with the project to make sure everything will work as intended by making a drawing with measurements and doing some calculations, as in the case of the new bigger cabinet posts. And if anything is going to be affected than coming up with a plan to make adjustments as needed, so the customer has no surprises. It's important to Craftsman Connection that the customer understands what will take place, what's included, and what is their responsibility like purchasing the tile they want. The huge floor to ceiling tile backsplash was about 12' wide x 10' tall around and above the outdoor covered patio kitchen with 3" square tiles. The customer wanted to insert small 1" diagonal tile every third row. Initially you would think it would be a challenge, but then I came up with an idea on how to make a jig for my tile saw to cut 4 tiles at a time that would allow me to cut the corners off, speeding up the process to eliminate measuring each tile, and have a consistent look. It was a pleasure to be able to step in where one contractor left off, and complete the vision that the customer had. Thanks again for trusting us with your projects needs, and I look forward to working with you again.

Hello Member, Estimates typically take a week, and sometimes longer if it is a bigger job that may have other items that other companies are involved in that I need pricing from. In your case you have many items and areas of your house to bid on that all require lots of thought as to the time involved on all the drywall patching. Of those items, I sent you two estimates and have not heard from you. If you have a concern about not receiving an estimate in 2 days following our appointment, you could have called, texted, or e-mailed me. And remember you are not the only customer I have met with before you, so I'm sorry if I might be a little back logged from all the customers requesting to have projects done. Detailed estimates are more than kicking out a price, and most really appreciate those details for clarity and their protection.

I contacted Carl and several other contractors in my area after reading reviews on Angie's List. I left a voice mail with 4 contractors on a Saturday morning; Carl was the only one that called me back that same day. Carl was punctual for our first meeting. He gave a very reasonable quote for replacing a gas line. He had to remove several inches of concrete and about 18 inches of dirt to isolate the leaking portion of the pipe. In addition to fixing the line, he made improvements to the area to prevent water pooling and causing future corrosion. He also cleaned the grill burners to improve gas flow and replace a few other rusted lines - he has great attention to detail and definitely goes above and beyond. Carl kept me posted on the project throughout the day via photos and text. This is very appreciated, as I did not have to take off of work to monitor progress. We're very happy with the repair and plan on using Carl for future projects.

Thank you for the great review and it was a pleasure working for you. While most contractors try to be the cheapest in town, I believe it's the attention to details and communication that can make or break a job. No homeowner wants to revisit parts of a job that should have been done the first time like replacing a couple extra 1/2" x 6" pipes up under the gas BBQ, when for an extra $11 in pipe materials we can take care of it while we were already out there. And the peace of mind having the contractor clean and test the BBQ ahead of time that would make you feel much better about safely using your gas BBQ. By communicating with our clients when they are not around to be at the house via phone, text, text pictures, the home owner can tell what is going on, progress, and have documented proof of what has been installed, etc. with dates and times. On top of that they don't have to spend their day worrying about all the things they can't see. That is the highlight of their day and it makes us happy too to keep them aware of the progress and quality. Thanks again, and I'll be contacting you tomorrow about the next project you asked about, Carl Pfeiffer 817-600-5700 Craftsman Connection, LLC.

After submitting my quote request on 1/22/14, Carl contacted me via email on 1/24/14. His email contained lots of information about what I should look for in a contractor, but he then proceeded to be generally dismissive of having me as a customer. He then stated that he would setup an appointment with me, but since he was booked for over a month, he didn't want to. What is frustrating is that he seemed to latch onto certain bits of information that his website forced me to fill out (specifically estimated start date and if I care more about quality or cost), where I just left the website default of price and picked a one month start date, because it seemed reasonable (though I'm flexible to start later). I did my research and wouldn't have reached out if I didn't think that he was in the price range, so saying that he was likely too expensive for me was rather insulting. I sent Carl a reply saying that I was still interested in working with him, but never heard back. Overall, a frustrating experience.

Hello Sir, I'm sorry our web-site gives you only one option to choose for either price or quality as their main concern. I will ask my web-site person to pull that option down soon. I don't like it either frankly. For all those who read this, I prefer that people would just contact me via phone to set up an appointment. That appointment would have been scheduled on the spot. E-mail via the Angie's List web-site may not get noticed for days, or e-mail in general just seems to get forgotten about like yours did unfortunately. Out of site, out of mind. As technology evolves, and the variety of forms of communication increase, people seem to get worse at communicating on a personal level. I would prefer a phone call or meet in person. Text and e-mail is great for sending documents or pictures. I'm sorry your e-mail was overlooked after first reading it. On top of that we have been limiting our work to Northeast Tarrant county, which should be outlined on the Angie's List map of our work area and noted on Angie's List web-site. Due to the high demand of receiving 1-6 calls a day, we have had to implement some limitations to our work areas to reduce the number of estimates we have to do. I am at the job site all day working with my helper and any sub-contractors, and so don't have much time to do the e-mails during the day. We appreciate your interest in our company to do your work, and apologize for not following up with your e-mail. It would have been different if at any point you would have called. Sincerely, Carl Pfeiffer

I met with the homeowners about this project and she showed me pictures on Pintrest of various fireplace mantles. I took careful notes about the fireplace details and replicated the design scaled to fit their wall and existing fireplace brick. The mantle is one of those that has the columns on each side supporting the mantle. I designed the mantle top to have the wood work features so that it could have the edges distressed like another piece of furniture she owns and be finished the same in black lacquer with some exposed natural wood showing. This fireplace mantle project cost $1,730.00 unfinished and looks amazing in the room. Hopefully they can update this review with a before and after picture after the finisher does the paint work. Feel free to call me when your ready to do the other picture frame woodwork around your two mirrors. It was a pleasure working with the both of you. I'm happy we could re-create the mantle to match pictures you found online.

My partner and I decided a while back that we wanted to have someone install plywood in the attic space above our garage so that we could have some storage space. We looked around on Angieslist for some potential people to go with. Karl with Craftsman Connection had some amazing reviews and we liked that he did all kinds of jobs, small or large. He came out within the next day of calling him to look at the space and had an estimate for us by that weekend. It was an affordable project for us, so we decided to hire him. One of the things that I really liked, was that HE was the one who did the work on our house. I really don't like hiring people to do a job, and then they send out their employees to do the job and you don't ever see them again. Those people claim they have so many years of experience in the field, but then they send out their employees to do the job, and I'm always skeptical if those employees have any experience at all. So anyway, I'm glad that he was the one who did the project from start to finish. He's very professional, very kind and I just must say this, he's easy on the eyes! haha! We LOVE the work that he did and we are already trying to decide what our next project will be with Karl. I highly recommend him!

It was a pleasure working for these two upbeat happy people in the Crawford Farms area and I look forward to working with them again. During the project they offered to buy me lunch and gave me $20. I bought my lunch and brought back 4 wonderful looking/ tasting cupcakes from a specialty shop as a treat to them for being so nice. I installed 9 sheet of 3/4" T&G (toungue and groove) plywood with screws in the attic for a total of approximately 288 sq.ft. This process took all day the first day and a couple hours the next day to complete. I was able to hide a big bundle of electrical wires in the joist space under the plywood and remove some 2x4's that were now unnecessary because of the addition of plywood, thereby making the space look larger and less cluttered. I also added some framing at the end where a gable wall was at, and then added some plywood there to give them an additional 15 sq.ft. of space that they wouldn't have had otherwise. The owners thought that it looked awesome and looked like more space than they had imagined. If anyone else wants to add plywood in the attic above a garage, with an attic ladder access, and approximately 5-7 feet head room to allow 2'x 8' (1/2 sheets) of plywood to enter the attic, then we could do it for approximately $120 per sheet installed (minimum 3 sheets), subject to property visit and 90 degree F. temperature or less. This work was done when the outdoor temperature was 90 degrees which allowed me to work all day.

I paid in payments. He did a really good job. I would use them again if I needed to but I would shop around.

This review above was generated by the Angie's List staff calling the member on the phone and does not represent how the client really feels about my work. After seeing this B rated review, I called the client who said she didn't talk to Angie's List, but that maybe her husband did. The lady was the one I communicated with and was at home during all the work. And as meticulous as she is herself, she was very happy with my work. I was later hired me a couple other projects. The original project was to install smooth paneling on three walls of her powder bath. I installed the smooth paneling, chair rail, and base boards. I caulked and puttied the nail holes for my painters so that their job would take less time. I also moved and electrical outlet up a few inches to be out of the way of the paneling. The painters did a beautiful job spraying the white enamel finish on the paneling. I came back the next day to install the towel bar, mirror, and T.P. holder. The lady then asked me to frame out a space and install a medicine cabinet in the master bathroom and in her daughters bathroom. We did both of those extra projects to her satisfaction. We look forward to working with this couple the next time they have a project they want done.

We bought a house built in the 70's and the interior was very dated and dark. Carl spent a lot of time with me in the consultation stage and we decided to vault the living room ceiling from standard 8ft to about 14 ft. We also decided to open up the wall between the living room and kitchen, remove the old wet bar, and add upper and lower cabinets. This made a huge difference and really made the living room/kitchen blend together and the high ceiling makes the space feel so much larger. The entire house had either paneling or wallpaper on every wall so all of that was removed, along with all of the popcorn ceiling. Everything was retextured and painted which freshened up every room. All of the old carpet was removed and replaced with wood and the old, small trim was replaced with wider baseboard moulding. We decided to keep the kitchen cabinets as they were all wood, fairly new and in good condition. So, we had them refinished and stained a darker color. The island with electric cooktop was removed and some cabinets were cut out and reorganized to make room for a gas range and hood. The cabinets that were built to go where the wall had been cut out match the original cabinets perfectly. The entire job went pretty smoothly and much more quickly than previous remodel experiences we've had. Carl and all of the subcontractors were prompt and professional. I will definitely call Carl for any future remodeling projects!
Description of Work: completely remodel living room and kitchen, open walls, vault living room ceiling, remove and retexture all popcorn ceiling, install wood floors, add recessed lighting.

Carl did a great job. This project involved creating a shelf for a new range top in an existing cabinet and adding trim for recently installed oven and the new range top opening. Carl created very precise opening so there would be a absolute minimum gap between the new countertop to be installed and adjusted height of the opening so the range top would extended beyond the new countertop to meet our specifications. As probably the case with many of these types of projects there were some unforeseen issues uncovered when the existing countertop and cabinet pieces were removed. These were not a problem for Carl who made the necessary adjustments to accommodate these issues. This was the first time we used Carl, when he arrived to examine the project he brought along his project portfolio and we went over some of some of the previous work which was very impressive. Carl told me he could spot measurement off by as little as 1/32 of an inch and after seeing his work I absolutely believe he can. The countertop installers took additional measurements based upon the shelf Carl created and upon installing the countertops they could not have fit any better I can't imagine the space tolerances being any closer. Carl also installed and connected the new gas range top so we had a temporary cooking surface until the countertops were installed and we could make the new range top installation permanent. The shelf was absolutely level and straight and made a big difference to the countertop installers. The entire project could not have turned out better, we were very pleased and would not hesitate to use services of Craftsman Connection again.

Carl is a detailed craftsman, who takes pride in his work. His attention to detail stood out in both the quote/review process and in the installation process. In addition to this, Carl was flexible with his time and committed to getting the job done to our satisfaction. Due to floor work that we were having done in the same room, we had a very tight schedule to get the trim work completed. To this end, Carl worked long hours on both Saturday and Sunday to complete the job prior to floor work starting on Monday. We are very happy with the finished product. And would highly recommend Craftsman Connection/Carl for any wood work enhancements/upgrades.
Description of Work: Hired Carl to trim out a wall of windows (6 windows, with total measurement of 18 feet by 10 feet). Second objective was to match new trim with window trim that already existed in an adjacent room.

It was a pleasure working for this couple, they were very nice to talk to and I felt welcomed into their home. To complete the trim work around the 6 tall windows and the 6 arched windows above them with custom made woodwork to match the arches, fluted casing on each side of every window, new continuous window sill, new crown moulding and carving new base trim to go on top of the flat base to match the old mouldings that were no longer available, I worked Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to complete this project. It took about a day longer than I guessed, but I completed in time for the wood floor finish work. No matter how long it takes to do this one of a kind woodworking, I got great satisfaction to see the finished product. I look forward to working with this couple again. Turns out we have some acquaintances in common.

Mr. Pfeiffer came out to my house to look at work I wanted done. At the top of my list was replacing the front exterior door and adjusting the back exterior door and replace my kitchen floor due to a large hole in it. We talked at length about these items. There were other items he look at even mentioned a few other things he could do. He was my fourth quote and the only one that took eight days to get back. Angie's list made him very busy. All other were from Angie's list and got back within 48hours. When the quote came finally it did not mention the floor at all. I emailed and called him about it and 2 days later I got a call back stating he didn't know I wanted that done. I said we talked about it, he remembered that but didn't think I wanted it. I decided to let him do just the doors. From the beginning of that choice all I heard from him was "Resdoor". It was like he was a partner or had stock in it. He talk about them so much I had to ask him if he could install any other door if it were not from Resdoor, he said yes. So I went to Home Depot and bought the identical size door as the one I had. Frankly, that is where the first one was from, I thought cant go wrong here. NOPE, Mr. Pfeiffer looked at the door measured it and said it wont fit. I said it is the same door, he said the measurements are off. So, 5 minutes later I am on the phone with freaking Resdoor or order the right size door. I said can you at least fix the back door. It did not close. I wanted it t close and lock like a regular door. He shaved some wood off the top and stated that's the best he could do. What???? It still doesn't lock. Thankfully he didn't charge me. The agreement was Resdoor would call Mr. Pfeiffer to pick it up on his way back to my house and Mr. Pfeiffer would call me. That was THREE weeks ago and he still has not called. The door had been sitting at Resdoor for 2 days before I called them and had them deliver it to my house. The REPLACEMENT handyman took off my old door and put the door from home depot up to the frame and showed me it fit perfectly. But now I am stuck with a CUSTOM MADE door I cant return. I was p*****. My new contractor made it work. Working with Mr. Pfeiffer was awful.
Description of Work: He sanded the top of my back door, that was it.

Dear Member, I’m sorry there was a communication problem, but it was not entirely my fault. I was not informed by ResDoor, or yourself that there was a door on order and/or available to be picked up or was going to be delivered to your house. Both you and ResDoor did not call me to let me know it was at your house. Both ResDoor or you did not e-mail me to let me know that it was at your house. I did not receive a text or any form of communication, until I see it here on Angie’s List. She, the member, is correct about one thing. Upon initial inspection, from my vantage point, it looked like the door could be shaved down enough to allow it to close. I informed the member of her severe foundation damage in this poorly maintained house/neighborhood. I did shave the top of the door, and since I was not happy with the results, I did not charge her for any work. Most people would be happy to not get charged for something that did not go as planned. And she did not express any frustration at the time of my visit. She said she would let me know something in a few days, but I did not hear anything from her. My focus as a contactor is to provide quality work and not just find a way to put band-aids on larger problems. Another contractor may have been able to get a standard door from Home Depot to fit, but it would not have been a solution that would have met my quality standards. I’m glad the member was able to get her door problems resolved to her liking and am sorry she now has an extra door. And while I am a fan of the quality product provided by ResDoor, I do not receive any commission or am in any other way financially benefiting from the purchase of any products from this supplier. I have been thinking about this client and whatever happened to that door job? Now we know that somewhere else in the link, was a communication breakdown.
