It was [Member Name Removed] pleasure working for you both on your remodel. Thanks for the review, and I’d like better clarify the things that you seem to be disappointed in. On your timeline and budget expectations, that is what happens when you add on work [Member Name Removed] little along the way, such as an exhaust fan, shower recessed light, moving vanity light electrical from ceiling to the wall, refinishing drywall texture & painting on the ceiling, shower door glass, and some electrical work. It’s like when you go to some restaurant and keep adding on extra things, you get surprised by the total that was added, but it is what was ordered. The tile work did take longer than expected, but they did change the tile size, and had white tile with black grout, so everything had to be perfect. Oh, and I fixed their hall bath door lock problem, and replaced their master GFCi receptacle as well. Gave them attic lights they didn’t have, and added 2 hallway outlets with [Member Name Removed] light. [Member Name Removed] couple days after I started, some painter the customer hired took [Member Name Removed] dump in their master toilet, and I came in to see their drain pipe backed up into their master shower and hall bath shower. This old house had the drain pipes clogged up about 60%, and the customer called their plumber to come out couple days later. I had to wait for that to get fixed before I could proceed. The plumber said in addition to the old cast iron drain pipes being clogged, he found some camera head broke off from another plumber in the drain pipe. I’m guessing their home inspector did not do [Member Name Removed]. good job, so some surprises were found. As far as some unknown costs, we originally started out with refinishing all the crows foot wall texture. Since the scope got reduced to just the 5’x9’ ceiling, which [Member Name Removed] small portion was new drywall, I told them I would just charge for time and materials on the old texture refinish. It’s just harder to figure sanding off small spaces of ceiling texture with multiple layers of paint. So they got [Member Name Removed] perfect ceiling, and paint work, and didn’t pay anymore than what it exactly cost. During the project, one of their branch circuit breakers failed, and I replaced it for them quickly for just for the 20 minutes of labor, and spent plus the $6-7 part. After I completed the shower remodel project, they had an electrical problem in their panel on [Member Name Removed] Sunday afternoon and they called me about an electrical issue. I came over by 4:00pm to inspect, test, and replaced the 60 Amp breaker to their old split panel. This had nothing to do with the remodel. This is an old house that they just purchased. I just charged for 2.5 hours of my time to come troubleshoot, go to Home Depot, and fix/replace the parts. $187.50 is way cheaper than an electrician. The customer ordered their shower door glass week or two after I started, and they didn’t inspect their order when it arrived, about week or so went by, and I discovered 1 entire large box (1 of 2) was missing. Some internal package of small parts with sharp edges caused damage to some shower door track parts. They re-ordered the shower door glass kit, and the order still didn’t arrive correctly even after [Member Name Removed] month since their order. So in the end, I did not install the shower glass and they returned the parts they ordered. I always advise custom shower glass, so everything is perfect. When you try to save money by buying online, there is no guarantee that things will arrive in great condition. Overall, I’m happy with the work, and the clients were happy and excited about the remodel work. Of course seeing this 4 out of 5 star (80%-89% or B) review is disappointing, when the work is great, I went above and beyond for their extra work their house surprised them with, and the work the customers added on, adjusted my work speed for delivery delays. I had the shower 1/2” cooper pipe fitting leak and that got cleaned up quickly with no damage. That’s what I get for being distracted and talking with the homeowner for the couple minutes out by the water meter, instead of ignoring them, and taking care of my business, like I normally do. As far as punctuality is concerned, I normally show up between 9-10am. One day, I showed up and the homeowner was still asleep, didn’t answer the door, so I had to return home. I was realizing that his sleep schedule was later and adjusted my day [Member Name Removed] bit to better accommodate their later morning, and worked more into the evening.
