We used Carl to re-do our master shower pan that had been incorrectly installed by another provider. Carl was great to work with; he was transparent with the issues caused by the previous provider, what were reasonable expectations for what could be fixed, all services were performed exactly as he described and on-time, and finally, the quality of his tile work was excellent.

Thank you, it was a pleasure working for the both of you and your family. I’m always amazed how so many “contractors” don’t understand the proper way to do a shower pan with the materials they are working with, and don’t perform a shower pan test with water for the correct amount of time. Now you get to enjoy your beautiful white marble shower.

We are very pleased with the work done! Working with Carl was easy! Estimation was accurate, in terms of price and time. Everything functions and looks great! He sent us update photos of all work, including areas we could not see, like attic and roof. He even through in some items for free! We would definitely hire again!

The process went smoothly and efficiently. Of course there was construction dust and messiness - but that is normal. Carl is easy to work with - patient and able to discuss the minor issues arising as the project moves along. He made two trips to our house to discuss the project - listening to what I wanted and made helpful suggestions where I was stuck (linen closet specifically). Those suggestions helped the entire concept I had in mind snap together - making us ready to move forward. He was on site every day. He sent regular texts about materials or suggestions after hours. I thought I'd never find anyone more obsessive about details that me...but Carl is. I'd point out a tiny thing and he said it was already on his list. He isn't satisfied until the job is done right. He is very resourceful and a great problem solver. Further, we had an unexpected vacation pop-up in the middle of the remodel. We trusted Carl with our home. He also has great subs. I never once worried about them being in our house while we were out. Further, we have dogs and Carl would take a little time each day (while we were there and away on vacation) to pet and comfort them (remodels can be a little upsetting for our critters). As to pricing, Carl won't be the cheapest. But this was our house...and we wanted someone who would do it right. Carl also did a guest bath a year prior to the master. To sum up, I wouldn't consider hiring anyone else. I know the work will be done absolutely right.
Description of Work: Carl performed an extensive master bath remodel. The project included demolition of a wall, relocating electricity, relocating plumbing, new lighting, installation of a new vanity, building a new shower, installation of new jetted tub and toilet as well as painting and texturing walls. The master bath is beautiful and nearly doubled our storage.

Thank you sir. It was a pleasure working with you on your media room construction project. Amazingly enough, we found out that the square footage of the house on the tax paperwork, was not what was currently finished out from when the house was originally built. The unfinished attic room was not being utilized. Now you'll be able to enjoy sitting in your new theatre seats, and watching everything on the big screen, with amazing audio surround sound. Enjoy!

It was an amazing experience overall. Carl showed up when he said he would and never tried to make excuses for things that weren't exactly right. He will NOT accept that his work (or that of his crew) are less than ideal. He has very high standards for the quality of work that he promises and he is one of the few contractors that I've know that delivers 100% on that guarantee. He worked directly with my insurance company getting them the initial estimate for repairs and was able to save money for me with his expert stone-repair guy by not cracking or breaking my granite countertop when it had to be removed for the cabinet repair. That helped the estimate for that line item go from over $4,000 to around $1,600. He knew I really liked my countertop and preferred to save it if possible, and he did his best to do that. Additionally, I was unsure of the pattern of my backsplash and REALLY wanted the same pattern. He was able to quickly source it from his supplier exactly like the one I wanted. Since that time, Carl has been hired to complete additional project work, including an amazing fireplace feature wall, patio covered walkway repair and improvement, window replacement, interior painting, full exterior house painting and more. Everything he has completed has been with his high standards of work quality and detail. I feel strongly that his prices are very fair for the quality of work you receive. If you're lucky to get on his schedule for a project, you won't regret it.
Description of Work: I first hired Carl Pfeiffer for a major downstairs repair for a slow leak under the kitchen sink that ended up damaging kitchen cabinets and my wood floor through the 1st floor of my home. I had a really great feeling with Carl after our initital meeting, that he would be someone that would be professional and on top of quality work for anything I needed. Carl prepared an estimate for the kitchen repair, sheetrock removal and replacement and baseboard repair and replacement. Details included removing cabinets, granite countertop, sanding and painting cabinets, repainting repaired areas of sheetrock, baseboard and more.

Carl's precise measurements and precision work made this kitchen cabinet project look like it was part of the original cabinet installation. Carl worked around my changing work schedule, had a positive attitude, and was friendly and pleasant to work with. We were extremely impressed with the quality and price value of Carl's work. We would highly recommend him and hope to have him remodel our master bathroom in the future.
Description of Work: Custom built a two- door kitchen cabinet, stained & sealed it to match existing cabinets. Shifted it upwards 7.5 inches to create cooking space beneath a new microwave oven exhaust hood on the range underneath. Drilled a hole in the exterior kitchen wall behind the cabinet & added an exterior flapper style vent. Fabricated a sheet medal duct inside the cabinet to connect to the microwave oven's exhaust port. Hung the new microwave underneath the new cabinet and above existing tile back splash.

Carl and his team were on schedule throughout the project. His team started with the kitchen lighting, ceilings and cabinets while he worked on my bathroom. He was always readily available for any questions I had, this being my first home renovation. Carl helped provide guidance on best practices for painting doors, ceilings, baseboards, etc. that will come in handy for me later on. An initial estimate of 1 month for the work turned into 3 weeks for full completion with high quality work done. What I appreciated most about how Carl works was the frequent text messages throughout days I was at work both explaining and showing what work was being done that day and plan for the rest of the week. I do recommend Craftsman Connection for any work you'd like done, very knowledgable and dedicated to quality.

Perfectly. Carl is without question the most skilled and professional contractor I have ever met. I would highly recommend Carl for any project, large or small. Carl was working with a difficult angle in the ceiling and matched the chimney angle perfectly--not even the slightest gap . He also installed a granite backsplash behind the fan. Carl takes great pride in his work and it shows. Thank you, Carl, for a superb job . . .

At first everything was going well at the beginning I asked to be notified before any work was done that would be over the budget of $1200.00 and he agreed. He found several things that the first contractor did not install correctly and fixed those and installed the island in the kitchen although he did not install the base molding as I had originally discussed with him it was acceptable and I did not make an issue of it. After he had been there nearly two and half days he mentioned that the reason he was not able to get the sink base doors to line up because the cabinet had been installed out of square and that the cabinets to the right of it were not level and that he would have to fix them so I agreed but he also said that everything was on budget. I also had him mount the bracket for my TV in the living room. He took it upon himself to get an estimate for kitchen counter tops and to remove a the bar top counter that I had previously said that I would have who ever I choose to do my counter tops remove it. Everything looked fine when I go home on the last day but I was in for a real shock when he texted me the amount I owed him which was approximately $550.00 more than what we had discussed. At first I thought maybe he had not deducted the $400.00 I left for him on the second day but that was not the case. I let him know that I was not pleased since I asked him to let me know before any work was done that was over the original price and he did not. I paid him but was surprised to find wood shims sticking out of the side of the cabinet and that after they were cut off you could see a gap between the cabinet and the wall plus the end of the wood shims and that a trim piece that I imagine was supposed to be attached to hide the shims on anther base cabinet was just propped up against the cabinet. To make matters worse the cabinets that he "re-leveled" and cost me the extra money still are NOT level which I did not find out till I had the counter top people I choose to come out and template for me. When I texted him a picture of the level and asking about them not being level he responded that "It's just cheaply built cabinets". Also he used a different cabinet pull on one of the cabinets than what I wanted which he never bothered to ask me about and did not put a drawer pull on the dummy drawer front on the base cabinet and when questioned he said he never does that but NEVER bothered to ask me the customer what I wanted. This guy talks a good talk and may be good at the big picture but when it comes down to the details he is no good. To me the details are what makes the finished project and he is not good with the details too busy trying to add other work since the invoice I received also had prices for installing the dishwasher, garbage disposal and a tile back splash which I never asked him about but he choose to include. I am beginning to think all of these "Angie's List Awards" are fake or paid for since none of them seem to deliver!
Description of Work: I hired this contractor to fix what a previous one had installed incorrectly (crown molding and base molding along with a few cabinets), to install an island in the kitchen, add cabinet hardware and adjust the cabinet doors and drawers. We discussed that the work that needed to be done and that it would be $1200.00.

Response from Craftsman Connection LLC
Thank goodness Angie's List provides the ability to respond to this runaway story. First of all when I came out to give an estimate of fixing this other installers bad work, I estimated it would take about 3 days, and the estimate was based on doing the work at $50 per hour because as you discover things that were done incorrectly, they need to be fixed. Fortunately, based on the details of the scope of work, I was on budget. Then as I was working, I was texting her pictures and details of other things I had discovered and she was unaware of during our initial meeting, like the previous installer had not installed a ledger board behind the dishwasher for counter top support, and that the sink side cabinets were unlevel. So she says that the sink side base cabinets are still unlevel. Here is what is going on. Her cabinet boxes and the face frame were not assembled at the same height from the manufacturer, so I had to choose to pick the faceframe to be level and not the particle board boxes. I couldn't make both level due to the pre-fab cheap construction methods from her cabinet provider. Next she said that the handle was not installed on the false front. Ok, so do you need a handle to operate an inoperable drawer front? Sounds like a good reason why someone may try to open it and yank it off. Bad idea, and not to mention she didn't specify that detail or the detail about leveling the sink side cabinets. That was a discovery I made I also discovered the cabinet to the left of the dishwasher was not set at the same depth as the rest of the cabinets and was crooked. She didn't mention this to me. I informed her of it all via text and pictures and then corrected the issue. The previous installer also did not put a piece of pre-finished wood across the front of the dishwasher, so I notified her via text pictures and corrected that as well. She needs to go back and re-read her text messages and pictures to see what things are legitimate extra items that I notified her and was not in the scope of work we discussed in the original meeting. You should see how grateful she was with all the communication and work and pictures via text and at the end of the day when she'd come home and said she could see I was a true craftsman, and loved the work. Seems to me she only has to blame her lack of details in the scope of work we discussed. I'm just there to fix some other installers work, and it is. Her granite installers have their level on the poorly assembled/built cabinets, not the level faceframe.

The whole process (aside from the unavoidable construction dust and debris) went smoothly and efficiently. Carl is very easy to work with, very patient and able to discuss what few minor issues that arose to a painless resolution. He spent about 1 1/2 hours here at the initial consultation and listened and made helpful suggestions. He was on site every day, the whole day, and was always available to answer questions. He sent me texts with material suggestions after hours. When I thought of something that might need to be modified or added, turned out he was one step ahead and reminded me it was already in the plans. All my cabinets were painted, and they are flawless. They were thoroughly sanded (one whole workday sanding) and primed, and finished just as nicely on the inside. I doubt you could find anyone who is more obsessive about small details. He wasn't satisfied until whatever he was doing was right. He is very resourceful and a great problem solver...the last day of the project was supposed to include installation of my slide-in commercial type range. However, he couldn't finish that afternoon because a piece of trim on the range was very slightly misaligned along the side by the counter top, enough that it appeared the counter was going to need trimming. It was getting late, so he returned the next morning, removed the trim piece, relocated the mounting point on the back of the range, and it fit perfectly, saving having someone out to trim the soapstone counter. Once that was done, he stayed a few more hours (on what was supposed to be a day off after finishing my project) and adjusted cabinet door fit and alignment so that everything was as good as could be. A few months ago, I had installed a dimmer switch in my guest bathroom light, but I wired it wrong so that it operated backward (up for off and down for on). I never got around to correcting it but a few days into the project, Carl mentioned that he had fixed it..he was annoyed that it didn't function properly. That pretty much describes how he works. As to pricing, I doubt he is going to be the cheapest, but I know he was more reasonable that two other contractors I talked to. How much is hard to say, because we wound up refacing some of my existing cabinets as opposed to 100% new. The re-faced ones match the new ones perfectly. (The price above did not include the new range.) My existing dishwasher and refrigerator were newer and good to go. To sum up, I wouldn't consider hiring anyone else. I know the work will be done absolutely right, on time, and at a reasonable price considering the quality of the work. I will be updating a master bathroom in a few months and looking forward to working with Carl again.
Description of Work: Carl performed an extensive kitchen remodel, including demolition of a wall, relocating electricity, new lighting, refacing some existing cabinets, installation of additional new cabinets, installation of a new range, and painting and texturing all walls that were originally papered. He removed a bar from my sink island so that the entire island is one level. He removed seldom-used double ovens and the wall they were built into, freeing up space better suited to cabinets and counters. He removed a built-in cooktop and the cabinet under it, replacing with a slide in range with oven and baking drawer. He converted the over-range microwave exhaust fan to outside venting and slightly raised the microwave height for better range access. The project nearly doubled cabinet and counter space within the same kitchen footprint.

Everything went very well. Carl was easy to work with from the beginning. He was able to stop by to review the project with us on our schedule, and he provided the quote within the time he estimated. Originally, the quote was higher than we had expected, but the quote was very detailed and clearly described all expected expenses. Carl talked through the project with us and provided additional ideas and suggestions that we hadn't originally thought about. It did increase the cost, but they were very good suggestions, and we're happy he brought them up. All the work took place in about 10 work days. He kept on schedule, with only 1 late night that was later than he had said he would work. That was due to trying to finish up some painting so as to stay on schedule. He took care to cover large furniture that we couldn't move and put up plastic to try to keep the dust in the rest of the house to a minimum. We are extremely happy with the finished product. It looks like the wall was part of the original construction (house was built in 2010). He pays a lot of attention to details, and the quality of the finished product shows that. The paint, texture, and molding all match the rest of the house perfectly.
Description of Work: Added a wall in 1 large open room to create 2 separate spaces: a dining room and an office/playroom. The project included electrical work to add outlets, move switches, add electrical for additional lights, and move a chandelier.

So one day I was talking to Carl about wanting to do hardwood floors in my house while he was working on a deck extension project, and the next thing I knew he was sending me pictures and price info via text. Later he brought me a price quote from ProSource Wholesale Flooring. I got a great deal on the flooring, and he negotiated the flooring price below contractor pricing. Carl brought the flooring to my house a few days before the project to allow the flooring to acclimate to my house climate. Craftsman Connection showed up right on time, removed the carpet, and did a great job cleaning the concrete slab for the new flooring to stick to since he found a lot of texture and paint from the builder on the concrete. The flooring was installed so much better than the previous homeowner installed flooring. The joints are staggered like they are supposed to be, and no creaking floors. They did such a nice job of cutting the wood very tightly to the fireplace brick, you can not see a joint. I just love their attention to details. The flooring and base shoe was installed, the room was cleaned up and Carl helped me move the furniture back into the room. That was so nice of him. I'm so happy with the new look of the room. I still haven't stopped starring into my family room, as I walk by and still feel caught off guard by the outstanding good looks. Now we are discussing the Master Bathroom remodel, and designing some really exciting features that you typically see in a spa and a salon. I can't wait. No really. :)
Description of Work: Craftsman Connection replaced my Family Room carpet with engineered hardwood floors to match the rest of the existing hardwood floors in my house, installed new base shoe trim, and replaced 2 toilets.

The quote came in a reasonable amount of time. I'm just getting other quotes and seeing who's going to be best for the job but Carl's right up there. The last time he did work for me was in the Fall, sometime around October(ish) or something like that. Basically he didn't replace any of the plumbing he just basically cleaned out the pan and replaced it and then it was good to go. I definitely would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: He gave me a quote. I thought it was a reasonable quote. It was for a leak. He had to tare, I mean I can't pinpoint how much it was because it was a few years back, it was reasonable, he replaced all the tile in my bathroom. He replaced a pan in my shower. He put in a new seamless glass door in my shower.

Carl has been working for me the past six years and this has been the largest project to date. He did a complete facelift of my rental property updating flooring and carpets as well as painting the entire house. He also did numerous smaller repairs including replacing bathroom fixtures, exhaust fans, screen door repairs, cabinet base repairs, and roof repairs. He has been consistently honest and fair with pricing and clear on the work he can accomplish within the timeframe given. He has been trusted by my tenant to have a key to the property to complete repair work while the tenant was away from the property. Along with this project, he has completed tile work in two bathrooms resulting in a remodel of both bathrooms. This remodel project was completed on time with his usual quality workmanship. I would highly recommend Carl for any project - large or small - and will miss the relationship as this project resulted in selling the property at above listing price.

Carl did a great job on the bathroom remodels. They look wonderful and the quality and attention to detail in his work shows. Also, he got all of the work done in all 3 bathrooms in about 4 weeks which was really nice as we had 6 kids sharing the other bathroom during the work. He is very easy to work with a was very helpful in making the final, detailed decisions on design choices and options. As in any remodel, you always find unrelated items that need repair and Carl was great at identifying those small things and giving us the option to address it at a very reasonable rate while the other work was going on. He did the little things like adding extra fasteners to correct a squeaky floor, adding insulation on pipes and in wet walls to reduce noise, and correcting electrical work done by a prior owner so it was up to code. We plan to use Carl again for future remodeling projects and would recommend him to friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Carl did a full remodel of three kids bathrooms, which included converting two tubs to full showers and new cabinets, sinks, counter tops, fixtures, floor tile, and paint in all three.

Carl was a very professional guy from beginning to end of the project. He came by to see what we needed and then sent us a very detailed estimate within a few days. We were very impressed with the precise outline of the project. We were under a time crunch to get appliances installed by Christmas and Carl did a great job helping us get it done in time. He does quality work and we were very pleased with the way he does business. We didn't have any big surprises and he did what he said he would do for the price that he said he would do it. We really like using veterans that have served our country so that was another bonus. We would definitely use Carl again and plan to continue to give him our business in the future.

Carl was extremely patient and helpful as my husband and I worked through the design process. He made suggestions and met with me several times before starting the project. He delivered high quality work, completed the work on time and honored the very detailed proposal. We are very happy with the work he did for us!
Description of Work: Removed a built-in cabinet and replaced it with a custom cabinet that he built and stained, created a recessed area to mount a 65" TV, mounted the TV, painted family room.

Superior attention to detail. He does work the way I would do it. Not the least expensive contractor, but a good value considering the quality. He uses good subcontractors & employees. They are clean and professional. He is very considerate and communicative, but I don't like his billing software/invoices - confusing. Working with him was such a good experience, we are hiring him to do more projects in 2016.

It went very well. Carl Pfeiffer was very easy to work with, full of good ideas and exhibited a thorough knowledge of his trade. His attention to detail was exemplary. Work began on time and finished on time. More importantly, it complied with the estimate. I am completely satisfied.

The project went very smoothly. The work was done professionally and with great attention to detail and quality. We were very happy with the results and would use the contractor again.
Description of Work: The project consisted of removing two small islands and replacing with a very large center island. We also ran a gas line to the island, replaced the granite throughout the kitchen, repaired tile floor and added a new backsplash.

Response from Craftsman Connection LLC
Hello ' Member' You sent me an e-mail through Angie's list which does not go to me personally, it's on the Angie's List web-site known as the Business Center. You didn't send me an e-mail to our company, text, or a phone call. And yet you complain about service, but didn't contact the right category for a company to do the type of work your need done. If anyone wants quick service, a phone call would have been great. Secondly, Your project request of re-glazing tiles, etc. is not something our company does. I referred you to a company that can handle part of the work you need done. I'm sorry it took so long to get back to your Angie's List Business Center e-mail. You could have tried calling our company during normal business hours to see if we even received your e-mail before assuming you were being ignored. Good luck with your project, Craftsman Connection, LLC

Carl met with us after our initial contact and spend a significant amount time with us reviewing what we wanted in our bathroom remodel. He never rushed these conversations and was very willing to go over every detail. He asked many questions that helped us decide how to acheive our desired outcome. Our project took about two months from start to finish. Carl was involved with every aspect of the project and made sure that his team delivered the highest quality. When questions arose that affected the installation, Carl always called and asked for clarification before he proceeded. In the end, they delivered a beautiful bathroom and we are very pleased with their performance. I highly recommned Craftsman Connection for your project.
Description of Work: Complete Master Bathroom rennovation including demolition, building new customer shower enclosure, new shower plumbing for custom spa shower system, new sheetrock installation and texture, cabinet installation, custom natual stone installation in shower and on floors, and anything else that was necessary. In addition to this large project, Carl and his team installed new appliances in our kitchen and performed other upgrades and maintenance around our house.
