The reason why I started my business in 1998 was due to the lack of good communication with the typical contractor I believe in creating a great plan, covering all the details we could possibly think of and detailing all that in line item pricing. Kitchens and bathrooms is my passion, but we also do the rest of your house too. I like projects that make people happy and where they enjoying spending most of their time.. We need you to do your part to communicate the items you are shopping for. Help us, help you detail your vision, so you know you will get what you're dreaming of. All of the work will be practically perfect. Tell me what you want to your specifications and I’m sure it’s possible. I’m a big fan of details.
Residential and Commercial remodeling since 1998. Over 42 years of total experience since 1982. Everything from the small handyman jobs to whole house remodel or commercial build out. Your on-site Contractor/Master Craftsman is also a certified building inspector so you will be sure to get everything to code standards or better. Integrity and Honesty being our number one priority we always do what we say what we will do and put it all in writing too. It's safe to say we always show up to our appointments and the everyday work. Consistent, reliable, meticulous both in service and quality craftsmanship. Veteran owned & operated.
If you are looking for the cheapest, aka low quality, contractor, I’m sure we are not it. We focus on high quality workmanship.
Excellent. Be specific about what you want. He provides a very detailed estimate specifying work to be done, materials, etc.
Description of Work: I had new ceramic tile installed in kitchen and laundry room which meant all the baseboards were removed to demolish old tile and lay the new. I used Craftsman Connection to replace the baseboards. Carl measured, matched the new baseboard to the baseboards throughout the house, caulked and painted them. His work was precise and the end result was excellent. The only tiny glitch was failure to do the baseboards in the pantry which might have been my fault for not specifying kitchen, pantry and laundry room. Carl came back on the weekend and took care of the pantry so my job was still completed when I needed it to be. His skills are great and he prides himself on doing a precise job. I plan to have him install railings on our front porch in the near future.

I have a cedar pergola over the back patio deck that uses very large 4 x 12 beams. The beams are mounted on corner pillars using 4 x 6 cedar decorative mounts between the pillars and the beams. The mounts had begun to deteriorate quite dramatically causing the beams to drop and several had moved some 3-4 inches apart. Carl built some new cedar mounts matching the originals and jacked up the beams so the mounts could be replaced. After looking at the pillar covers supporting the mounts he decided there was a better way to create the base so he built new bases without changing the bid. He carefully primed all the new wood pieces and then painted with the finish colors. There is no question in my mind the Pergola today looks better and is more robust than the original installed 18 years ago. I am very pleased with the work accomplished and with Carl's proactive approach to making things better than they were originally. I heartily recommend Craftsman Connection based on the quality of the work on this project

Carl and Jose worked very hard taking off the old paint off my kitchen cabinets. It took longer than expected because of a sticky finish but the end result was beautiful. They also refinished two doors to match the cabinets then they installed all the cabinet hardware. We love the results. Working with Carl was fun. He certainly knows his stuff and is meticulous when it comes to detail.
Description of Work: Carl sanded and stained my kitchen cabinets, installed more ceiling lights, installed lights around my stove and under the cabinets, textured and replaced the molding on the soffit and replaced old rotted particle board under my sink with new boards. There was a leak under my sink due to the water filter being loose and he fixed that, as well. Whatever needed to be fixed, Carl fixed it.

Carl responded quickly to my email after I found him on CL. He set up a time to get measurements and see our project. He appeared promptly at the time we set up. He was thorough but quick, and answered several questions about the project and ways to do some of the things we were considering. Within a few days we got a very detailed/itemized quote. We did select another contractor who gave another quote, but I very muched like the detail in Carl's quote, which I did not get in the one we selected, so I'm hoping that doesn't come back to bite us. (If it does, I'll come back and edit this report!) Everything about the experience with Carl was positive, and I would certainly be open to using his for future projects.

Thanks for the kind words Member. I hope all goes as you expect with the contractor you chose. I know how tempting a lower price can be until after your all done, and you might wonder how much better the other contractor could have been (quality, service, etc.) for the higher price. We believe in protecting the customers interest by putting everything in writing, creating a sample of the refinishing, and suggesting the best materials for a long lasting finish. Hopefully it all went well, and we'll look forward to being considered for the next project you do.

We had a meeting set-up for the previous Wednesday which she changed to Monday of the following week. I called Sunday at 3:29pm (confirmed by looking back at my cell phone call log) to confirm our appointment and left a message. She never called me back. She didn't call on Tuesday ( the day she thought was the appointment date). And I didn't get a call otherwise inquiring about my whereabouts. I'm sorry you didn't return my call.
Carl and the crews always came and went promptly and he kept me appraised in advance of each step as to what it entailed and the schedule. Carl was a professional from the estimate to the completion. All the work crew were also very professional. I am very pleased with the results. Carl pays attention to the details, and he has a strong work ethic. If I need more work done, I will definitely call Craftsman Connection.
Description of Work: A budget kitchen remodel. We changed out all the top cabinets and the wall with the oven, microwave, and pantry. The bottom cabinets remained. New cabinets were taken up to the ceiling. The pantry was replaced by pullout drawers The new cabinets were stained to match the old cabinets. I gained about 50 SF of much needed space for storage. Carl also installed new appliances, did some drywall, a small amount of painting . He moved some of the old cabinets from the kitchen to an old 80's wet bar. The bar and kitchen both were dressed up with granite tops and backsplash. Carl put can lights in the kitchen and family room, and a large pendant plus, 4 small pendants over the the kitchen bar. He also installed under-cabinet lights in the kitchen. Many of these things were added by me as the job went along. and Carl happily went with the flow
I was very impressed with Carl's follow through and documentation of the problem. I live out of state, and he kept me in the loop with photos and detailed documentation of the process. Since he fixed this problem, I've used him for numerous other problems that have come up at the building, including electrical and lighting challenges, roof drainage, tile replacement, and other miscellaneous items. On each and every job, Carl has gone above and beyond my expectations. I am now facing some much larger problems with the building, such as roof, drainage and foundation repair, and Carl has been serving as the lead contractor for the building, helping me make a plan and interviewing subcontractors so it'll be done right. I would highly recommend Carl for little and big jobs. Terrific work ethic!
Description of Work: Carl responded to my call regarding a problem I was having with the back door to my building. There was some foundation shifting that had occurred, and the door jam was not level with the door. The door was not closing properly and presented a safety issue for the employees. Carl was terrific about getting right on the job and solving the problem, despite the fact that a few other contractors had tried and failed, making the problem worse.
Very satisfied with quality of work, attention to detail, clean up, and follow through. We plan to use Carl again for several future projects.
Description of Work: Carl did a FABULOUS job for us from start to finish! Spent an extended time with us before the job understanding where we want to go long-term and short-term, budget, our tastes, etc. Offered really great suggestions and insights. Estimated the job accurately. Able to adjust as issues arose and make changes appropriately. Kept us fully informed and involved all along the way in all phases. Removed mold in entryway walls, replaced insulation and siding, repainted, and sealed. Replaced faulty front door threshold. Removed entryway wall paper, replaced damaged drywall, textured, painted. Removed wood floor, replaced with tile, leveled to the remaining wood so there is no transition required. Refurbished half wall removing outdated wall to ceiling wooden posts, replacing wall top with new wood, and repaired ceiling. Replaced baseboards with something much nicer than the original. Removed wallpaper border in dining room. Replaced baseboards to match entryway. Textured and painted. Created casing around archway from dining/living rooms to kitchen.

Definitely a fun couple to work for. Great sense of humor and I look forward to working with them again. It's always fun being creative and getting rid of the cheap, low height baseboards in a house, and creating some "WOW" factor. I created a vision to go with a taller base board that will eventually make its way further into the house. I just don't think a lot of builders understand just how much a few extra dollars in materials creates so much more wow factor in a home. The labor to install the base is the same, so what's and extra $100-$150 in material in the long run when you consider your personal enjoyment, shows well when you have guest over and when it comes time to sell the house. If you don't go for average when you remodel, you won't get an average return on your investment. I really enjoyed installing the "Nu-Travertine Creme" tile that they purchased from ProSource Wholesale Flooring. Out of the 65 sq.ft. of tile, not a single one of the fake travertine tiles looked the same and was the most real looking travertine tile I have seen to date. Thanks for the review, and can hardly wait to work together again in the future.

Fantastic experience!. I was working with a very limited budget and firm time constraints since I was moving and Carl worked with me on scheduling and at my request, found re-claimed materials (and fixed what I had rather than replacing it when possible) to save money. Clean, utterly professional, on-time and a perfectionist about his work. He charges a bit more than the average handyman, but that's because he's NOT the averge handyman. You won't have to go back and re-do anthing that didn't turn out quite the way you wanted it to-- he gets it right the first time, and gets it done on-time.
Description of Work: Replaced front door/bedroom door, re-hung backdoor, installed deadbolts and changed locks on both exterior doors, installed door jam for hall door, repaired fireplace gas hookup, replaced threshold, installed weatherstripping on both exterior doors, installed drawer pulls/cabinet door handles.

This member contacted me about some repairs that were needed/requested by the local military base. She is a Major in the Air Force and was being re-assigned to Hawaii, lucky lady....so we had a week to get all the stuff done for her. I found a low cost front door to replace the existing front door, replaced the threshold and added door seals to make the door air-tight. Due to the limited budget, I let her work with my painter directly to let him do the drywall crack repair and painting himself, and that gave her control over just how much she wanted them to do, since they did it by the hour for her. We don't do this for all clients, but there are a few out there who just need to know who they can trust. Her Brother was working on a few things around the house, and I offered to help on a task that he was doing, which saved him some time and hassel making another trip to the store. They were both very nice and helpful people. We had to fix a gas line to a moveable fireplace, that she had a licensed plumber install wrong. The plumber had connected the natural gas pipe and hose to the Liquid Propane connection and consequently the LP gas fittings that regulate the flow. Secondly, that plumber had installed a series of piping that allowed the gas pipe to move back and forth like a big lever, which caused a leak, that the city inspector noticed, and then the inspector shut off the gas and confiscated the hose. We fixed the problem and there is no gas leak. Tested the fireplace unit and all worked wonderfully. Unfortunately, not every licensed trade person out there is qualified to do their job and for all we know they licensed person might have sent an employee, so between Angie's List reviews, 13 years plus worth of plumbing experience, being a former plumber assistant, and being an ICC and ICBO certified Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector I handled the problem for her. As each year goes by I look back at all the amazing and wonderful clients I have been so blessed to work for. You know those nice, grateful clients, that just know they can trust everything you do, so they don't have to stress out the whole project trying to look for stuff that might be wrong.

My experience with Carl and Craftsman Connection was excellent. On Saturday night I had discovered that there was a water leak outside my house near the sidewalk. The city of Fort Worth had determined that the leak was my responsibility. The leak was significant enough that we had to shut off the water to our house. This was a major inconvenience not only because it occurred on the weekend, but because my daughter was only seven weeks old at the time. Fortunately for my family, Carl came to the rescue. Carl came early Sunday afternoon and was able to quickly diagnose my problem. It turned out that in an attempt to cut corners my builder had used inferior material to complete the plumbing that ran to my house. To save time the builder also failed to remove several large rocks that were in the way. As a result the pipe was bent in a couple of locations and over time the pipe began to leak. Perhaps the biggest issue was the leak was coming directly from underneath the middle of our sidewalk. Instead of going through the concrete, Carl instead choose to save me both time and money by digging underneath the sidewalk. The complete job took around five hours. Needless to say my wife and I were very grateful. I am confident in saying that if ever need repairs or work done on my house that Carl will be the first person I call.
Description of Work: Replaced a leaking pipe underneath the sidewalk outside my house. This entailed several feet of digging both in my yard and underneath the sidewalk to diagnose the problem.

I was hanging out in the community center after church service and overheard him and his wife talking about their water being off. He said the neighbor guys were talking about jackhammering out the concrete, and I advised completely against it, until they saw where the leak was coming from. Without saying a word to them about it, I contacted my girlfriend to get their address, ran home to get my tools and surprised them by showing up to do the work at no charge. The member and I went to Home Depot and he paid for $200 in parts to be able to use "Shark Bite" fittings that made the job alot easier to do since the piping under the sidewalk was inaccessible, and since soldering was out of the question due to a little dripping water, that would have made a solder joint really difficult to perform. The job took 1 hour to dig the remaining dirt out, and 4 hours of work. I was happy they had done most of the intial digging for me, and I was still able to make it to our small group meeting afterward. They neighbors that had stopped by were happy the sidewalk didn't get damaged, so that it still matched. And I was happy to save the members a few hundred dollars to get that concrete patch done. Even when we are doing a regular remodel job for any one of our clients, we are always thoughtful to consider how we can improve the space and save money for the client. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family's needs.

We are very sorry for the delay in getting the estimate back to you within the time frame you had hoped for. Your whole house needed a full remodel, and you asked for many separate estimates. I did the best we could do at the time, staying up many late nights to get those estimates back to you. We have hired two more people to help meet the high demands of our clients, and am in the process of hiring another person I have known for 6 years. Fortunately, all of the people who have used us, keep adding on more work to our original estimate because our high level of customer service to the on-going clients we have, and are currently working on, and that can delay the other estimates we have to do. We place priority on the jobs we have as opposed to being absent from the job-site and chasing other work when we need to be at the job-site to do work and make decisons to keep quality up. We strive to return estimate within 7 days, but due to the great remodeling economy and everyone's busy schedule with the great employees and subcontractors we have, it may be a few days later considering Holidays and weekends. To ensure the job goes well, we do a lot of planning, writing down all the details in the estimate, and coordinating with everyone involved to help each project come to completion without problems. There usually isn't a "punch out" list, we pay attention to all the details, and the clients usally just smile and say Thank you at the end of the project. Saving customers from the remodeling nightmares and providing a high level of quality work is the whole reason I went into business 13 years ago. I pray that all those who weren't patient enough to wait for our company, did not have a bad experience. My heart goes out to all those who did.
Carl spent about an hour and a half on the initial visit going through what I wanted to achieve. He had a good eye for detail and design plus was very experienced and was able to make valuable suggestions and bring up things that I hadn't considered. I received a detailed bid for the kitchen and another for the bathroom about a week later. The lead time to start my project was four weeks. He completed it in five weeks, working on it every day plus a couple of Saturdays. He was totally trustworthy and I had no concerns about giving him a key and letting him come and go as needed. He explained everything at each step and kept me totally informed. He has very high standards and each task was completed perfectly. The drywalll patching and finishing was undetectable. The subcontractors that he used for painting and tiling also did beautiful work. Anything that needed to be changed was done promptly. He kept the construction area as neat and clean as was possible. The finished results were absolutely beautiful and much more than I expected!! I ended up with my dream kitchen. I wish I had done this sooner. Carl and his staff were very easy to work with, very professional and totally reliable. When I saw first hand how much and what kind of work was involved, I felt the price was very fair. He was very reasonably priced on the add-ons. And most important to me: he was very careful with my small housedog, keeping him inside the house but out of the construction area in spite of my dog's best efforts to intervene in everything! Thanks so much, Carl!! I highly recommend him and will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: 1940 vintage home: Major kitchen remodel including two additional cabinet units. All existing cabinet doors and drawers were replaced. New soapstone countertops, tile backsplash, faucet aligned, drain repaired, under cabinet and overhead lighting, appliances relocated, custom designed cabinet archway, new externally vented range hood, sheetrock repair, insulation and painting. A closet in another part of the house was coverted to a laundry room, requiring water hookup, drain lines, venting and power, door opening enlarged, door replaced, sheetrock repair and painting. Also unclogged the hot water line to bathroom sink.

I contacted Craftman Connections for an estimate to remodel a hall bathroom. Carl made a home visit, took measurements, and then about a week later submitted a written proposal for the project. The proposal was clear, detailed, and reasonably priced. Although we have selected another company to complete the job, I would recommend this company to others considering a similar project.

My husband and I were looking for a contractor to remodel our Master Bath. We had several contractors give us quotes. Carl quickly impressed us. He showed up promptly at the appointed time and was dressed in a clean uniform, He asked appropriate questions and made suggestions when we were unsure of what could be done. He presented us with a detailed estimate that also gave us a time line of when the work would be done. Carl gave us the names of companies to order all of the products we would need, walked us through the ordering process and then followed up with the orders. When the work began Carl let us know what time he would be arriving each day and came in each day on time. Carl is a perfectionist and did most of the work himself. He did a fantastic job. In fact we have asked him to bid our hall bath and if all goes as well as our master bath, we'll have him do our kitchen next. Thanks Carl we love our bath(retreat).

We loved working for this member. They had done all the things I asked, like going to the granite yard to select the stone, the tile showroom, and to the place that has all the bath fixtures to get the jacuzzi tub and faucets. Then they gave me my space and time to make things perfect. When a member is patient, it allows me to get more creative and go the extra mile with all the details. One thing you wouldn't expect or notice without pointing it out is the 12x12 granite floor tile in the shower was cut into 4x4 tiles and each piece of granite that was cut is laid in the exact same position as if it came from the 12x12 tile, so with this you see the colored spots match across the cut line and look like a larger piece. Craftsmanship is in the details. A lot of contractors can install tile, but how many would think of making it like a piece of art? Wide angle pictures of this bathroom will be available on our web-site real soon. I pulled of the old wallpaper, smoothed out all the walls, and re-textured. We had custom cabinets made to fit exactly to the space. No extra filler pieces and trim were needed, and that maximized the usable space for the member. I framed out a new tub deck for the jacuzzi tub, installed the plumbing and tub, and then filled the underside of the jacuzzi tub with mortar to give it the support that is required, and this is something not all contractors know to do. I helped this member select a toilet, by showing them a video on my phone of the one I have been impressed with. It's the toilet that is every guys dream, with a powerful flush, and is ready to flush again in 20 seconds if needed. It seems like a lot of master bathroom projects start because the shower is leaking. Why is that? Two reason, a poorly installed shower pan or most obvious to me is the lack of a moisture barrier protecting the framing behind the tile. A lot of people think tile is water proof, and some may be like a glazed ceramic, but the grout joint and corners are the area where water penetrates like a sponge. The green colored drywall is no longer allowed per code, and we have never used it even when it was allowed. We use 1/2" HardiBacker screwed to the walls on top of a moisture barrier that overlaps the shower pan. We want it fixed right with the thinking that nobody should have to come back to fix it later. The moisture barrier just takes a 2-4 hours and and about $20 in materials, so why not just get it done right. It's details like this that separate us from the other remodeling and tile companies. We are passionate about getting it done right the first time, and look forward to the other bathroom and kitchen remodel projects this member has offered to us. Thanks for the great experience and we were happy to serve you.

The work was to be done on a HUD foreclosure. The property was vacant before and any work was to be performed before occupancy The gentleman sounded real nice on the phone and during the estimate visit. However he was late showing up at the appointed time. Did not acknowledge his tardiness at all. All we asked him to do was give us an estimate for plumbing repairs. He asked me if I know what a "Water hammer" was. I played dumb and said I did not know. He went into story time telling me i can have water hammers installed at key points in the plumbing system. This line of thought along with tardiness and cavalier attitude about that raised some suspicions about his ethics. After discussion of a water water replacement, and other repairs, he completely ignored the fact that a permit would be needed to be pulled and general installation had to be done by code. At that point, I verbally agreed to have his company do the work, Later on the next week I happened to be passing by the property early one morning to find this same plumber onsite without my knowledge ! I asked him what he was doing there and he told me he was doing some more "figuring". I find this kind of attitude and behaviour extremely unethical. Why didn't he call me if he needed to be onsite to do more "figuring"? We would have arranged to be there so he could to the estimate again. But to be onsite without my knowledge was underhanded and very shady. Needless to say, I will not be calling these people again.

This member called me out to look at the missing copper plumbing job at a vacant property that he does not own, and is on the market for sale. At the time of our meeting I made detailed notes of the work that needed to be done and discussed the game plan to the owner. I gave him a ball park price and he verbally agreed to have me move forward on June 17th. Craftsman Connection is a remodeling company, and we don't do just plumbing. We are licensed by the TRCC, bonded, and insured as a remodeling contractor. Any specialty trades that require a license and a permit, we call our licensed, bonded, and insured plumber, electrician, and HVAC company to do the work. Since this was a vacant property that the member does not own and we did not need access to the property inside or under the house, I called my plumber to meet me at the property as opposed to my office since it was closer. This house is a corner lot with chain link fencing and we had stepped maybe 15 feet inside the publicly accessible open fence area right to the side of the driveway so the plumber could see the vents on the roof. This was a last minute meeting to get an estimate from the plumber. So the question is do you call a person who doesn't own the house, and you don't need access too? I saw it as, what if I was interested in buying the house myself, would it be reasonable to expect someone to walk around the accessible property? I would totally understand if there was a gate, or some extra effort required to enter the premises. The house was so bad, it had busted windows, graffiti, and stolen copper plumbing, and everything on the inside needed remodeling if you can imagine a neighborhood like that. This was a good opportunity to serve the member and do some remodeling work down the road. We have worked for plenty of investors who have purchased properties in similar condition, and they have never had a problem with an exterior walk around. Everything about him was really very professional. I felt very comfortable with him and felt like I could trust him. He seemed organized and even had pictures of work he had done previously.
Description of Work: He came out to give me an estimate on replacing beams on the outside of my home.
This particular job went great. Mr. Carl was an outstanding worker, he was punctual, professional and very kind. He even took a trip with me to Home Depo to help me choose my new range and refrigerator. He had alot of patience and had a genuine understanding of my needs as a customer. Carl explained everything clearly and made sure we were on the same page every step of the way. His workers were friendly and precise as well. They all made me feel comfortable almost felt like family . Mr. Carl and his workers went above and beyond my expectations with the high quality of work projected. I love my new kitchen and would refer him to any and all.
Description of Work: Mr. Carl performed a total makeover to my kitchen in which included; demolishing my old cabinets, replacing my range, sink and dry wall work to replace the cracks in my ceiling. He also completed some interior painting to my kitchen and living room area. Lastly, was the installation of new light fixtures in which required electrical work.

Initially I could tell this member had a concern about a contractor being in her house by themselves, and I could completely understand since I would feel that way too if a new contractor was at my house. It's usually after you have had a good experience and have built trust with them, that you allow yourself to move past that hesitation. Next time I hope she feels like she can go out for a little while without worry now that she knows me. Give all your worries to the Lord. We are scheduled to do more work here in a few days. Then before the project started we met at The Home Depot to purchase her refrigerator. Her, her daughter, and the grandson met me at the front door. The grandson almost immediately grabbed my hand and held it as we walked to the appliance area. It was kind of special to me since I have no children of my own. The whole experience at Home Depot was one I'll remember for some time. The project went as planned. We had some delays due to the 5 days of snow and ice, but I personally still kept working there to keep the project moving, and to give the member a sense of peace. Thanks for clearing a path in the ice to get from the driveway to your house safely. It was a cold time for all of us. Everything turned out wonderful. What a nice kitchen! I put a lot of extra time into patching her ceiling cracks that I didn't charge her for, but I'm very pleased how nice it looks, and look forward to putting some pictures of her kitchen on our web site. I feel very blessed that many of my clients trust me from the very beginning. And so with that given trust, comes the responsibilty of not letting them down wether that be with their pets, keys, security systems, and other special request. Yes, the Angie's List commercial is true with us. Today at a new members house where we are starting a kitchen remodel, I let their dog out in the back yard to go take care of business.
The whole process went great. Carl is not only excellent at what he does, but completely trustworthy. I felt perfectly ok about giving him a key to come and go as he needed to while we were at work. We were also impressed with the tile guys he used as well as the cabinet painters. I think he uses the best people he can. Our new kitchen looks amazing.
Description of Work: We had pretty much a total kitchen remodel. We had the cabinets refaced...new doors , frames, side panels. They removed 4 layers of old linoleum from the kitchen and dining room and replaced it with porcelain tile. They tore out the old counters and backsplash and replaced it with a Silestone countertop and a wonderful tile backsplash. Carl did his own design behind the range. It looks great. The woodwork on the cabinets is awesome. We already had some mahogany in the house but went with maple for the refacing. They matched the color exactly with stain. Carl added more counter space where the old double wall oven was and did some cabinet modifications to make it look right. He installed the new range and hood. He replaced the plumbing for the sink and installed the new sink and all of the hardware in the kitchen. I am sure I am forgetting some of the things he did because since this is an older house, we had some unexpected things happen. Carl is so good. He came up with solutions and suggestions that really worked out well for every situation we came across.
They did a great job overall! They were very professional and nice to work with. They were punctual throughout the project as well. I would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They installed a new vanity with cabinets and countertop. They also replaced the toilet and did some tile work. All fixtures were also replaced and recessed lighting was installed in my kitchen.

This client also gave me a key to their house to come and go as I needed to. They were pleasant to work with. I also installed 4 recessed lights in their kitchen, removed the old square wood box with the florescent fixture, and then touched the paint. Then I worked on their master bathroom remodel. The shower, tub area, and floor was already done by someone else. So you can see a picture on our web site in the bathroom section, of her dark wood vanity, light colored granite, and multi-colored glass tile backsplash. She had her roof replaced by some other contractor, and unfortunately I witnessed them installing her roof incorrectly, and cutting the felt paper in a couple 3 foot sections, one row, above the next row. I couldn't believe my eyes. I used to be a building inspector, and have installed roofing before. I told the member about what I saw, and they said their contractor reassured them there wouldn't be a problem. I've never seen that roofing company before, and they didn't put their "5 year warranty" in writing. I pray they will not have a leak, and if they do I hope it doesn't damage their hardwood floors below that part of the roof.
Carl is extremely meticulous in all of the work he does. I was impressed by his ability to understand what I wanted and to be able to make suggestions for other things that might work well on this project as it went along. He was also willing to adjust for schedule changes that I needed and to finish in time to have the family over for Thanksgiving. The ceiling in half of my kitchen was lower than normal height and had a fluorescent fixture. This portion was raised to the level of the rest of the room. This required the removal of the insulation over that portion of the kitchen (this insulation removal was not anticipated and therefore not covered in the original bid). This portion was then covered with sheetrock and the entire ceiling was textured. The new and old areas blend together seamlessly. The cabinets and pantry on one wall were removed along with the oven and microwave. A 9 foot opening was cut between the kitchen and the living room at counter height. A pantry, corner cabinet, and new cabinet for the oven were constructed. The workmanship on the cabinets is excellent. Carl went to considerable trouble to find a shop that would make the new doors match my existing cabinetry. Crown molding was added to the tops of all of the cabinets. Woodworking is an area in which Carl excels. The corners and seams are extremely well done. There was quite a bit of electrical work required due to moving the oven and installing lights above and below the cabinets. Also, there were can lights installed in the ceiling and drop fixtures over the new counter area. As the project went along we discovered some things that needed to be done differently and a few times it required things that were not covered in the original bid. As you would with any workman, it is best to determine a firm cost for any additional work as you go along. All in all, I am very impressed by the quality of the work that was done and I would certainly hire him again.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel involving raising the ceiling, removing cabinetry, opening a wall, moving electrical, plumbing, drywall, installing lighting and constructing cabinetry.

This member was very nice and allowed me to come and go as needed. And I appreciate the ability to schedule my own day. Not everyday is just come to work, stay all day like at an office, and go home. As the General Contractor/ Carpenter/ drywaller, etc. there is often phone calls, meetings, shopping for supplies, and the drive to Carrollton that consumed many of my mornings. I hope my off site time on her project didn't look like a punctuality problem. If there is a set time to meet with a client, then we are typically within 15 minutes of that time. Some of the original cabinet ideas and dimensions changed as we went. After a few cabinet dimension changes, I suggested I just keep track of my time and bill accordingly to save from having to spend time revising the estimate a few times. With honest people, you can do it that way. She was different than the average client because she did her own cabinet staining, tile back splash, and because her son sold granite fabrication tools, she used her own granite company that her son recommended. And she even fabricated her own wood vent duct cover. Most of the cabinets in the kitchen are original to the house, except the cabinets along the wall with the opening. We look forward to working with her again. She was fun to talk to. Thanks for the invite to Thanksgiving with your family, but I was working for another member for 4 days including Thanksgiving in Plano. I think she might have mistaken our less than A rated professionalism with our personable attitude. Since I often spend many days at our clients house, we tend to have many conversations about our lives sharing stories about life, family, kids, etc. and I cherish and look forward to those special conversations. I often learn a lot about family stuff from my clients experiences. Overall, I think the new design made huge improvements to the house. Obviously the granite helps, and the long counter top at the 9 foot wide opening did wonders for making the members joy for cooking shows, allowing her to cook in her kitchen while watching the TV in the family room through that 9 foot wide opening, and staying connected to her kids in that room to when they came to visit.

Carl was very quick in responding to our inquiry. When he came out to figure an estimate for our bathroom remodel, he was very thorough in his questions and open to giving advice. A week later, Carl started the remodel, and he was able to handle the surprises that came with remodeling an old house. He was more than willing to accommodate any need we had, and he was very meticulous in his work. We absolutely love our bathroom!! He is very friendly, and we really enjoyed working with him!
Description of Work: Carl worked on our bathroom remodel and changed the plumbing from a pedestal bathroom sink to a double sink vanity. He tore down the dry wall and installed inset medicine cabinets. He installed an extra outlet and rewired our outlets. He put up new drywall, textured and painted, and crafted and installed custom baseboards. Finally, he installed our new double sink vanity, including all of the plumbing and faucets. Carl also installed recessed lights and a brand new vent/heater.

Carl did, and always has done, an extremely professional job. He is a man of integrity who keeps his word and completes the job with great customer satisfaction. He explains what needs to be done, what it will cost, and keeps his commitments. I have continued to trust Carl with my property and would highly recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Replaced dry wall, door frame, door following significant water leak from ceiling. Floated dry wall, hung door, painted wall and door.
Carl Pfeiffer is amazing. I was first impressed with the service he provided when he told me he could meet me at my home at 6:30 one evening during the week to survey the damage and put together his estimate. You simply don't find that in todays world to often. Carl completed the estimate and while he was not the least expensive, he was certainly not the most expensive either. His estimate detailed everything he would be doing along with the cost of those things he would be doing. Once I contacted him to do the job, we set a date for Wednesday the 24th of November. He showed up on time and began working. Carl said the job would be complete by Saturday with him working on Thanksgiving as well, which worked for me as I was out of town. On Saturday the job was complete and the room looks brand new. Carl was able to match the texture on the ceiling and walls as if nothing had ever been done. His work is amazing. He is careful, precise and does not stop until he feels good and I felt good about the job. I will certainly contact him for any future remodeling needs, in fact he is coming back to take care of some odds and ends things around my house. I have complete trust in that he will take care of the job from start to finish.
Description of Work: The water heater in my home is located in the attic and the flex coil between the water source and the water heater developed a pin hole leak where water was shooting out. Do not know for how long, but the ceiling and portions of the waters in one of my bedrooms were damaged along with the insulation. Carl came in and replaced everything and brought the room back to new condition.

Thanks for the follow up report and being such a great client. I enjoyed working with you. Dedication to duty is hard to find, let alone nights, holidays, and weekends when most people think about themselves first. That's where we are different. We are here to serve the community, and if that means to give up our time to get the job done on time, than that's what I expect out of myself and crew. There have been jobs in the past where I have worked 41 hours straight to meet a deadline and ensure that the client can have there family get together. Or another memorable job where I was paid extra to complete a job in 3 weeks from a commercial developer, and that client added on 2 weeks worth of work, but we still completed the job in the original 3 weeks. That client was amazed that I stayed late everyday to get the job done. Average people just don't put in the extra effort. So thank you again for allowing us to get the job done on time even though I worked late the last day. It was all worth it to see you happy and smiling, and for us to stay on schedule with the client we had scheduled for Monday.
Overall the job went very well. The only real issues were dealing with the mortgage company, since they had to inspect and then send the checks to me for distribution to the contractors. Carl's communication and professionalism is top notch. He did things when he said he would do them.
Description of Work: We called Carl for an estimate for storm damage repair. He is very professional, presents himself well, and communicates extremely well. He did all repairs other than the roof. Any repairs he didn't personally do, he contracted out to people who met his high standards. Repairs included, water damage inside the house, both from the storm as well as the faulty roof installed by Tarrant County Roofing, which surfaced about a year after the original work was completed. This included painting, drywall, texturing and hardwood floor replacement. Exterior repairs included, gutter replacement, chimney replacement, repairs to the balcony floor and rail. Carl handled exterior painting. As mentioned earlier, our original roofers did a substandard job which allowed water into our office. Carl and his subcontractors repaired the roof in that area, abated the mold and completed all interior repairs. The contractor that was tasked with matching the texture and custom paint in the office did a magnificent job of matching the existing walls, negating the need to completely R&R the walls. This is just another testament to Carl's high standards and selection of subcontractors.
