Hannah Davis came out the next day after our call, and spent 10-15 minutes giving us an estimate, well below the other 2 tree services I had out, who estimated $400 and $480 for the same job. I scheduled the job for the following week, so we could move our RV out of the way. They showed up on time, with 4 workers, and did the job in 1+40 hours from start to finish. Cleared 7 major limbs. Very professional all the way, including cleanup. I will use them again.,

I saw the glowing Dallas Tree Surgeons reviews on Angie's List this past Sunday evening. I called Monday morning to see when someone could come out to the house, and Lindsey was at my house at 5pm the same day. We talked about what needed to be done, and she was very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions. I got the estimate emailed to me on Tuesday morning, which I felt was fair for the work to be done, and they put me on the calendar for Wednesday morning. I left my house early but stopped by around 9:30am and a crew of half a dozen or so guys was already hard at work. They did an excellent job and were finished quickly. One special note --- my patio had a ton of leaves on it and was a mess when they arrived, and when the work was done, I came home to find a patio MUCH cleaner than it was that morning when they arrived. I was *very* impressed with how respectful they were of the property and was very pleased to see that they left it in better condition than they found it. I'm a real estate agent and will make the Dallas Tree Surgeons my #1 source when giving a referral for this type of work to clients.

I had used Dallas Tree Surgeons several years ago to completely remove a tree in our front yard, including stump removal. Was thoroughly satisfied with that job (A+ grade) I decided to call them again for this rather "small" job of pruning a young, but fast growing pistachio tree in our back yard, plus a crepe myrtle in the front. I just didn't want to attempt to trim the trees myself, without knowing the proper methods. One of their trained arborists came out and looked at each tree and gave a detailed summary of what they would do, complete with the cost. She set up a time when the crew would come out to do the work The crew arrived when scheduled, and went right to work. When they finished trimming, they cleaned up and were gone. The trees looked great, and hopefully with this periodic treatment they will last a long time. I am very impressed and highly recommend DTS.

Really liked Lindsey the arborist, she was very knowledgeable and ready to share her opinion about sick trees/plants, trimming, preventative measures, etc. Unfortunately, after getting other bids, the prices where way too high. In the future, I would use this company for something more specialized than tree trimming or removal because I think they have the knowledge to do projects way beyond that.

We recently moved to a new home, and don't think the trees had been maintained in many years. We called for an estimate on a Friday, and Lindsay came out on Monday, calling before she arrived. We walked the property, and I told her which trees I thought were the most important to start with, and she weighed in, as well. The estimate included pruning 12 trees, and removing three. We scheduled the service for the following Friday, and were told the crew would be in between 7 and 9 am. I believe they arrived at 8:15. One of the men walked around the property with the quote to verify which trees were the ones referenced. They started right away, and had finished by 3 pm. The crew cleaned up very thoroughly as they were going, and at the end of the day. Using blowers to remove any debris from the roof, and blowing all of the sawdust off of the patio. Some of the limbs did fall into the pool, but they were able to remove almost all of them; some small sticks and twigs were left in the pool. All in all, we were very pleased with the work.

I contacted Dallas Tree Surgeons for an estimate. Lindsey came by the next day and called me with her opinion and a general estimate. I told her my concerns regarding the large limb over the house and the shrub stump next to the water spigot, and she assured me of their professional methods. She emailed me the estimate that evening. After considering two other estimates of companies I'd also found on Angie's list, I called Dallas Tree Surgeons and made the appointment. They arrived the Friday they were scheduled to remove the tree and when I arrived home from work that evening, the tree had been neatly removed and the yard was cleaned of all debris. They returned the following Monday to grind down the tree stump and the shrub stumps and, again, when I arrived home from work, the work had been done and I was left with a large pile of mulch left from the stump grinding. I was happy to have the mulch to cover a walking path on the shady side of the house. The shrub beds had been neatly leveled and the stump holes filled. I received their invoice a couple of days later and paid it prompty.
Description of Work: A 30-year old tree was removed from our front yard, the limbs removed from the site, the stump ground (leaving the mulch from the stump mound over the site), the stumps of 7 redtip photinia shrubs across the front of our house were ground down, and the yard picked up of all debris.

These guys worked efficiently for six hours straight. I couldn't believe how far up in the trees and out on the branches they were. They were thorough. A lot of this work required them to navigate power lines, AC units and fences. They were respectful of the neighbors' properties and addressed their questions and cleaned up the yards of the neighbors on both sides. They got up on my roof to clean off any debris and thoroughly cleaned my yard. When they left there was absolutely no sign that they had been there. As a homeowner you deal with all sorts of service providers. I would use these guys again and recommend them without hesitation.
Description of Work: My neighbor's 100 ft. red oak is very close to the property line and extends over my yard and house. A major limb of the tree split and put my power lines, AC unit and a portion of the house in jeopardy. I called for a quote to assess options and they came out the same day. I also obtained a quote from another company but they weren't confident that they could even DO the work and were reluctant to take the job. Dallas Tree Surgeons started work the same day and said they'd be out at 8:30 the next morning (a Saturday) to complete the job. They were on site by 8:15 the next morning and ready to work by 8:30. They bolted and cabled the tree that was causing us concern. In addition to this massive tree, they performed maintenance pruning to three large (60 - 80 foot) pecan trees.

HIGH MARKS to Dallas Tree Surgeons for prompt and professional service. I had a concern about a large magnolia in my front yard and called them for an arborist consult. The arborist found nothing wrong with the tree, and assured me that the damage had been caused by a mischievous squirrel, not by a dreaded disease. She was enthusiastic, professional and diligent. She also refused to charge me anything for simply saying "hey, nothing's wrong here." I'd definitely call them again for any needed tree service.

The arborist was kind and knowledgable. There could better communication, because I called before the service was performed and asked that they call when they arrived at the property, because I wanted to obtain an additional quote and possibly have them trim some large shrubs as well. No one ever called. I was glad they agreed to do the work without my having to be at home. I left the back gate open for tree trimming assuming they would lock the gate back as they left. They didn't. It is probably my fault for not thinking to move items under the tree, but this is a VERY large tree that spreads out over a good portion of the lawn. Under it was a patio table, chairs, and other items. I wasn't instructed to move this by the representative I spoke to about the work. It appeared the workers did move some of the items. However, the patio table was broken...not the glass top, that was already broken, and I was looking for glass to replace it. But the metal top that holds the glass was broken by what I can only assume was a falling limb. I was told an invoice would come in the mail within a few days after the service. I never received one. I started thinking that maybe they had decided not to invoice because of the broken table until I received a call on my cell phone early December asking me about payment of the invoice. When I told her I never received it, she read me an email address that was slightly off and said that it had been emailed there. I gave her the correct email and paid the invoice over the phone. I am explaining my experience as to what happened during the service, but please note that I did not complain to the company about these items nor did I ask for any resolution. I consider the matter a learning experience for me and will address these issues should I use them again in the future. UPDATE 12/27/12: As previously stated, I didn't notify the owners or management that there was an issue. After reading my review, the owner called me and was very apologetic for any problems encountered and asked that any problems always be reported to her. I understand this and realize it is something I should have done having been the owner of a small business myself a few years ago. She offered to help compensate for the broken table and I accepted. Knowing how much the owner cares about her company and the satisfaction of her customers, I will certainly use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Tree trimming for a very large and old tree in my back yard. Part of the limbs were very large, very high, and some hung over into my neighbor's back yard for which they had to climb to, because my neighbor refused to leave his back gate unlocked for them.

We had just completed an engagement with another tree service and were left with substantial doubts that we were going in the right direction regarding the retaining wall, the drip system location, the mulch depth and how much to water by season. Hannah resolved all of those questions for us, the changes to which we could handle by ourselves (move the drip line slightly, reduce the depth of mulching and keep it off the trunk) and how to water the tree. We highly recommend Hannah and Dallas Tree Surgeons for professionalism and customer-friendly service with no marketing or bill-inflating services. We feel now that we know the steps to protect this large red oak in all seasons.

We received an estimate of $750 to remove a willow tree and $110 to grind the stump. As we have had the company out twice already to remove dead branches from the tree, we thought the bid was a little high, so we called to negotiate it down. We were given a package price of $760 to cut it down and grind the stump. We were very pleased with the workers - they arrived the next day, and within minutes, the dying tree was removed. The following day, the stump grinding company arrived, and they did such a good job that we were able to plant a small crepe myrtle in the same location. The young man with the stump grinding company actually helped me to bag the ground wood! (He did not even want to take a tip, but eventually gave in and allowed me to send him and his assistant to lunch.) I needed to contact the business office , and when I got onto Angie's list to get their number, I saw a $50 coupon which Dallas Tree Services was offering off $500 worth of services - I asked if I could apply it to our bill. The receptionist told me to attach it to the bill when I received it, which I subsequently did. This morning I received a telephone call from our representative, letting me know that since we had already negotiated down our price, that we should not have used the coupon. Not wanting to leave hard feelings, I called the Dallas Tree Service to pay them back the $50 from the Angie's List coupon, but the receptionist informed me that there had been some miscommunication, my bill was already zeroed out, and the company could not take an additional payment from me. I feel that the company in this case did the right thing, but this does not leave me with a good feeling. In the course of the conversation with the representative, I found that we had paid them for a treatment for other trees which was not necessarily the recommended treatment - we made the decision not to purchase the treatment which the representative recommended to us for this fall.

Dallas Tree Surgeons quote was well below the others that I had received and I did not need to be present for the removal, hauling away and stump grinding. They left no mess and other than the two piles of wonderful mulch from the grinding, you would never know that they had been there. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I had two very large pecan trees that did not survive last summer's brutal weather and needed to be removed. Dead limbs were hanging over the power lines to the house and as much as I wanted to keep them the trees had to go. Dallas Tree Surgeons came out, reviewed the job and provided me a quote, that included cutting down, hauling away and stump grinding. All communications were done via phone or e-mail which was very helpful with my busy schedule.

They sent someone in a timely manner to give us an estimate, followed up by a written estimate for the entire job and a projected date they could get the job done. The crew came right when we expected them, and did a very professional job. We watched while they cut down the first tree, which was at least 10 feet taller than the second story of our house. They tackled it one limb at a time, beginning with the topmost branch, using ropes and pulleys. It was a sight to behold! Then they moved to the other side of the house to cut down the other tree. The following day, a different crew came out to remove two large stumps. They came right on time, and were finished in no time at all, leaving us the sawdust for our flowerbeds. Our final bill was exactly what had been quoted.

I had an unhealthy tree fall over on top of my garage in the recent storms. I called to schedule an estimate on Monday. They came out on Tuesday for the estimate, and after I gave them the go-ahead, told me the crew would be there on Wednesday to remove the tree. When I got home on Wednesday the tree was gone, and the yard was spic and span. It was like the tree was never there (except for the stump that remained -- didn't request stump grinding/removal). They were able to make all of this happen without me having to even leave the office. Also, their bid was the lowest of the 3 I requested.

Description of Work: I had 2 trees trimmed and also had them trim my front shrubs. I will never be able to make the shrubs look as good as they did. I had 3 companies from Angie's List prepare quotes by far the easiest to communicate with was the Dallas Tree Surgeons. They gave me plenty of details on want they would do and the paperwork was all handled via email (per my request). Once I selected them they scheduled to come out a couple days later I wasn't home when the work was done but was truly impressed when I drove up how clean they left the yard.

This was an amazing experience. I contacted Dallas Tree Surgeons on Monday and explained the work I was wanting to have performed. The next day I received an extremely reasonable estimate and I gave the go-ahead for the work to be completed. The following day, I received a call letting me know the work crew would arrive within the hour; forty-five minutes later they arrived and went immediately to work. The tree was cut down, chipped and the entire work area cleaned in about 30 minutes. The next day a different work crew arrived to grind the stump; again it was done very efficiently and they did a fantastic job of cleaning up the area. All that is left is the billing and payment, but if it goes as smoothly as the rest of this has, I will be an extremely satisfied customer. I would highly recommend!

I called to have Dallas Tree Surgeons come out and look at 2 of my trees. They said my old Box Elder needed to be cut done and my Magnolia had a fungus. Very nice people. I've decided to wait on the big box Elder as I am so attached to it and cutting it down will be expensive. I did get the magnolia treated. I didn't shop around on price, so don't know how they compare. to cut my large tree down and grind the stump would be about $1675.

The person who came out to look at the property initially, was very knowledgeable. She gave me a lot of information about the trees and how they grow, when to trim them, how they will be trimming them etc. Their price was a lot cheaper compared to the other quotes I received. Almost half of the other quotes. The work was done very nicely. The crew was very accommodating. They made sure and didn't damage the flower bed around the tree. A few branches from our neighbor's tree were almost about to touch our roof. This wasn't on the work order, but they still took care of that. They even informed my wife that there is poison ivy growing on my neighbor's tree and told her if we have kids tell them to be careful around that area. They hauled everything away for free. The only issue I had with them was punctuality. I was told they are going to come at noon. So during lunch I went home from work to oversee the crew. But they did not show up until 1:30pm.
Description of Work: Trimmed 2 crape myrtles and 1 Bradford Pear.
