After reading my report here on Angie's list, a manager from Milestone called me to talk about my service call. He let me know they have a 100% customer satisfaction policy. After letting him know my disappointment with my service call, he offered my money back. Within 3 days I received a check in the mail with the refund. I must admit that is a very nice feeling to know that they will go out of their way to make things right!!!

Required several visits as electrical connections were initially missed to the rangetop and then the dryer. Still need some repairs to the drywall on a garage wall and a city inspection.

I would like to amend my previous report from February on this company. A representative of the company called me and was very sincere and apologetic about my concerns. He refunded $200.00 after he had reviewed the work done and had determined I had been overcharged. He said the company had dealt with the problem of the charges so that it will not happen to others. My work was a bit unusual and did not fit into their normal charge categories. I appreciate that he valued my business enough to call to try and regain my confidence. I would highly recommend this company. Everyone can make a mistake it is what you do next that counts. They did the right thing.

Everything went very well. Milestone installed new wiring and a breaker, and now my electrical appliances are working again. Milestone electricians worked in the very hot attic which has very limited work space--they were amazing.

Not only did they not fix the job that they came out to do but they charged me a few hundred dollars just to do the the inspection. My complaint is that the supposed electricians are now sales people.
Description of Work: I had them come over to fix an overhead light. They told me they had to check a lot of other things. By the time they looked at everything else they came up with a list of about $10,000 worth of other repairs that needed to be done.

It was great. I thought they were very professional. They were very thorough in explaining to us what they were going to be doing and what they would be looking for.
Description of Work: They put in an electrical surge protector for the house. We had some problems that had to do with our sprinkler system but they fixed them. On top of that, they went through to check other areas of the house to make sure things were running correctly.

I was really impressed by Chuck immediately. The foyer light was a mess, exposed wiring was present and the box the previous fixture hung from was the wrong size. He reworked the wiring and installed the correct size box and hung the chandelier. Moving to the kitchen fixture, he found that the previous electrician (who was a sub-contractor for my kitchen remodel back in 2000) had not used a box to hang it at all, but merely screwed the bracket into the sheetrocked ceiling. This was a large uni-jack fixture that had 3 heavy Muriano glass globes suspended by cables about 40" long; it had only 1 screw affixing the entire thing to just the bracket, and that into the sheetrock, not incorporating a nearby ceiling joist. We were lucky it hadn't already fallen. He had to make a new hole (which left the old hole, but what can you do??) and install a box at the joist to hang the new light. He also did an electrical safety check throughout the house (especially the kitchen & breaker box) and found lots of badly done previous jobs and lack of a whole house ground (required by the city). It was an eye opening experience; but my lights look great and I know that at least they are safely installed. I was a little dismayed by the end cost; they charge $70 to install each light box (item costs less than $10 at Home Depot), and a rather steep $149 for even a mini-chandelier, no bigger than a standard pendant light! Plus the service call and $69 for the kitchen fixture. He also quoted me the costs for fixing the other things we discussed in the future. I understand the value of a good electrician, I just hadn't planned on spending quite that much on this day.
Description of Work: Needed a mini chandelier installed in my foyer and a track light/light bar (ceiling fixture) installed over the island in my kitchen, replacing fixtures, not new installs. It turned out our previous (so called) electrician had not installed the previous lighting correctly or to code. So there was more to these jobs than met the eye.

Their prices are ridiculously high for the type of work that they do. We have outside flood lights, and the electrician could not figure out how to turn it on. He then installed a new box where the outside lights are. Because of the price, I told them that my husband would just finish the job. They were dealing with a house that wasn't that old. They weren't very good troubleshooters. Them not being able to figure out how to turn the lights on was really disappointing. He tried to tell me that all of my electrical boxes needed to be changed and upgraded. He was just trying to make more money.

The lady who answered the phone was pleasantly friendly and left me with a great first impression, she setup the visit around my busy schedule, and even made a note to call me 30 minutes ahead of time. The electrcian arrived on time, and was very clean cut and friendly. He informed me that he would have to do a $300 diagnostic which included most normal repairs in the charges. My house is a tri-level, and there is no easy access to the wiring in the lower levels, but that did not deter the electrician, after going through all of the wiring in the room, the technician replaced a bad outlet and repaired some improper wiring to correct my problem. My outlets work great now and i haven't had any other problems with them. Milestone is a company that you can definitely trust to do the job right!

First, the good: He showed up right on time (actually a few minutes early) and was very friendly. From that point on it was all a sales job. The electrician immediately pulls out a sheet with a list of prices and severices on it. He said this visit would be a $211 "level 4 diagnostics", plus a $69 sevice fee, plus tax. So pretty much it's $300 just to walk in the door. After I agreed, he goes back to the panel box, opens it up and immediately says I need a whole new panel box. He then spends the next 20 minutes writing up a quote for $3,500 for a new panel and trying to sale me on it. That was all he did! I paid $300 for a service call to just give me a quote for another $3,500. The "level 4 diagnostics" consisted of doing a brief visual inspection of the panel box. That was it, he didn't test any of the circuits, do a line test, replace breakers, or anything like that. Needless to say, $3,500 is WAY too much to replace a panel box! I called two other electric companies and got quotes of $1,400 and $1,100 to replace the panel box. Both the other companies said it was about $500 in parts and 5-6 hours of labor. I went with the $1,100 one and had a great experience and all the work is excellent!!! Bottom line, Milestone is WAY too expensive! Their slogon is "we charge by the job, not by the hour." Well trust me, it would be way cheaper to go with somebody by the hour!
Description of Work: I called them to replace a bad breaker. They basically came out and tried to upsale me on a $3,500 new panel box.

When i called in i was shocked to hear a live person on the phone! That automatically gave me a great feeling. I scheduled to have them come out and install a fan in my bedroom and some can lights in my bathroom, the lack of good lighting was driving me nuts and was killing my husband when I was taking forever getting ready! I received a call about thirty minutes prior to his arrival. The electrician was so nice and friendly, I could tell immediately he knew exactly what he was doing. He installed my items in a very timely matter. After he was done with the work he did a free safety inspection on my home. He checked my electrical panel and found that I did not have a surge protector. I was so thankful for him pointing that out to me and had him install one. I had a friend that lost a bunch of items in a spring storm last year. After he left I received a followup call from Milestones office to make sure I was completely satisfied! (nobody does this anymore!) Overall from the girls in the office to the clean cut electrician that did my work my whole experience was amazing!

Our house was built 39 years ago, and met virtually no current electrical codes. Lately, we observed lights dimming on even the slightest load ( e.g. disposal, vacuum cleaner, etc.). We selected Milestone Electric based solely on their Angie's List rating. We did not take competitive bids, so I have no clue as to how to judge the price. If I had to guess, they would get an "A". The technician arrived on time to inspect our electrical system, and prepared three options. We selected the most thorough option and were immediately placed on the schedule for two days later. The lead technician and one helper arrive on time to commence the work. They worked until dark and restored power. The next day, they returned to complete the interior GFI installations and to label the numerous circuits.
Description of Work: Installed 200 amp service, 200 amp circuit breaker panel, Powerworx surge protector, two main grounds, five outdoor GFI outlets, six indoor GFI outlets, one motion activated outside light fixture (furnished by owner), and one indoor combo GFI outlet/light switch.

Technician was very professional, polite, and considerate. He arrived within the time frame scheduled. I showed him all the areas of concern. He immediately showed me the unit price list for each switch or plug. He got right to work. He was able to take care of the wiring issue quickly. He then started on the switches. He was able to fix 2 switches without any issues. He did not have a match to one and would have to order it....which would mean another trip charge. The next one required more than changing out the switch, which cost more. He was eager to suggest all their other services they offer, such as Surge Protection, Lightening Protection and several other plans. My main issue with Milestone Electric is that they are just WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. I will feel better using a company that charges by the hour rather than the job. If I were to divide the cost by the hours worked, the technician made over $200.00 per hour!!!!!!

I haven't got any other estimates yet, but I feel like they seem extremely overpriced. I can't really trust anyone because I don't know anything about electrical wiring and all of that stuff. The workers who came out were friendly and efficient, but they tried to push me into a monthly service where they come out each month. Their service manager did say that if I got any lower quotes that he would match them, so if that's true I will probably use them again.

They would not give any sort of estimate over the phone, which I understand, however I was reluctant to have them come out only to then find out that the cost was higher that I thought it would be. They arrived on time and covered their shoes before entering the house and then gave me an estimate that was much higher than I thought it would be for the work I needed. So we drastically reduced the amount of work that they would do so that I could afford to use them. I finished the installation after they left. This may be my inexperience with an electrician but I was surprised at how much they wanted for a relatively simple job. They then asked to see the breaker box and found several things that they said were wrong with it. They scared us pretty good so we paid more to have some of those items repaired. Again this might be just my inexperience.

The reason I don't like this company is that they come in ready to sell you all kinds of things that they overcharge on. They were here for about 30 minutes and charged $566 dollars. For the work done, I feel that the price they charged was vastly overrated. I wouldn't recommend them and I will not use them again.

My circuit box had overheated on a Saturday morning and my electricity was going out in certain spots in my house. I called them out of the phone book and someone came out within the hour. After looking at the problem, I was told I would need a new box, and because the house was built in 1986, I should get a new meter also. I went ahead and replaced all of it, but because it was Saturday, he wouldn't be able to get the parts until Monday. He came back out on Monday morning and replaced everything and my electricity was back on by the afternoon.

He went from top to bottom in this house to try and find it. I mentioned I put in a new telephone the day before. He checked the phone, the coffee pot and they were plugged in the same place both working. The outlet had a red or black button and that was the problem. He checked the whole house. He was very nice. They don't charge if they smoke, swear, and don't wear their booties. When I called the were so kind and polite on the phone. I called them on a Sunday, they are 24 hours, but then I found out I could get my heating connected so I canceled and called them out the next day. They were going to come out on a Sunday. I could not have asked for a better service. I will definitely call them again. They called before they came, they came early and called to make sure it was alright to show up early.
