K2 Stairs is a family owned business that specializes in Stairs and Trim. We have over 30 years of experience in this industry. We picked the motto “Beauty Is Just a Step Away” because we know how much a beautiful stair means to you. It is usually the first thing that people notice when they walk into your home.
We at K2 Stairs take pride in educating our customers about the different variables involved with stair systems. Each stair is different in its own rite. It is important for our customers to understand that a simple exchange of your wood balusters to metal can be straight forward and simple (usually within 1 day), depending on the size of your stair.
Wonderful job, looks beautiful. I will use his services again. I had purchased all the materials and he supplied the labor. As an interior designer I am always looking for a pro and K2 stairs is a keeper. I give this company an A+++

Kirk was always prompt and professional. The job was completed for the price quoted and in the time frame that he said it would be done. He let me know what was going on during the entire process and consulted with me if he had any questions. I was delighted with the end product. Kirk was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend him to friends and family!

Kurt was awesome. He showed up when he said he would. I went with him not only because he had a reasonable price, but he also suggested modifying the look of the stairs to an open stringer which I really liked. None of the other vendors even suggested it. He knows what he is doing and was good to answer any questions I had during the build. He also tolerated my daughter bothering him constantly:) I will be recommending him to friends as well as here on Angie's list.

We called Kirk because we needed our stairs done and had a pretty tight timeline. He responded right away and made time to come out and get it done in our time frame. He came exactly when he said he would which was pretty impressive. Haven't seen that happen much. Came in and got started right away. He was extremely courteous and tried to be as neat as possible. It's a messy job, but he did his best. Stairs look great! We had a couple of loose balusters and some molding that needed to be secured a bit more. Sent him an email, and he was out the next business day to fix! Was very happy with the service! The stairs look great!

Kirk Mather, owner or K2 Stairs, responded to my phone call for a bid for a stair remodel quickly. He was helpful and patient with all my questions. The job involved a complete remodel of our front staircase, which was not to code, replacing carpet with oak and replacing the wooden balisters with iron. He also replaced a second staircase balisters and rail. The job took three days. Kirk and his helper were hardworking, detailed, and every clean. I could tell from the beginning that Kirk was going to do an excellent job and I was not disapointed. The new staircase is beautiful and really updated the entry of our home. I have already had many compliments on the staircase and been asked to share Kirk's cards. Kirk's price was less than another bid that I had gotten that offered the exact same service. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone seeking to remodel their stairs.

We called Kirk to perform an estimate. He showed up on time and emailed on the same day. He was able provide different options in order to fit in our budget. Every day he came on time and cleaned up after project was done. We were very happy with quality of work, his professionalism, great personality. We couldn't be happier with work he has done. Will definitely recommend him to others and would hire him in the future.

Kirk completed most of the job in four days. He did need to come back a few days later to put in the last few balusters when he ran short. Kirk did a fantastic job on our staircase. We couldn'tbe happier. He always arrived on time and kept the area clean . He brought samples over for us to select from and was very helpful during the decision making process. Originally I was only going to have only the balusters replaced but I'm glad that I had the entire staircase remodeled. I'm sure the stair remodel has added value to our home and our entry looks lovely now. One thing to note is that Kirk does not stain. You will have to hire so done else to do that.

Kirk came out for the initial appointment, was on-time and listened to our concerns. We had very wobbly handrails and newels that had broken loose over the years and we wanted to replace 84 wood balusters with an iron pattern. Kirk did not try to up-sell us and did a good job of explaining what needed to be done. I also like the fact that he would do the wood repairs as well as the baluster replacements where other companies I contacted only did one or the other. The pricing was in line with other quotes we received and was on the lower side. Kirk came out to do the work, was punctual and did not stop until the job was completed and it only took one day. The finished product came out great and we couldn't be happier. I will definitely be recommending K2 Stairs to others who need this type of work completed.

Everything went perfect. He responded quick to my request for an estimate and scheduled the work within a week. He showed up on time and was friendly and good at explaining what he wanted to do. As others, I liked that he is a one man show. A true craftsman that does the work himself. He replaced all the railings, the hand rail and had to rebuild the shirt boards and put in new newel posts. He covered things but didn't make a mess anyway. Got it all done perfectly within the day and cleaned everything up inside and out. This is what you want when you call someone to do work for you! Bravo!

The railing is fixed solid and the work exceeded my expectations. Kirk Mather was one of 3 contractors I called to bid on the job. Kirk responded right away and fixed a time to come by to give me an estimate. He showed up promptly at the scheduled time and gave an estimate of $425 after assessing the scope of work. His work involved taking out the entire railing and all the wooden spindles, adding another newell post in the middle and reattaching the railing with the wood spindles with glue so that they will be firm. He showed me pictures of several posts that would closely match my existing posts and let me pick the one I liked. He estimated that the work would take him 4 hrs and scheduled the work to be performed on Feb 18 to begin at 10am. He called around 9:30am to let me know he was running late due to heavy traffic coming from Dallas. He arrived around 10:30 and showed me the got to work right away and finished the work as planned by 12:30pm. When he left, there was no mess for me to clean up and the work was done very well with no damage or even a scratch to any other part of the staircase. Couple of hours after he left, my husband noticed that the sharp end of a nail was sticking out under the railing where a spindle was attached. We called him and left a message on his cell phone to come by and fix it. He called back later that evening to say he would come by on Friday to take care of it. At that time he also mentioned that he felt bad to cash his check, because he may have over charged us for the effort he actually put in. He came by on Friday as promised, took care of the nail and gave us back $100 in cash. Needless to say. we were amazed at his honesty, integrity and the excellent craftsmanship.
Description of Work: The wooden railing on my stairs was wobbly and needed to be secured. The staircase has 14 steps with one newell post in the bottom and one on top. There were wooden spindles between the two posts, some of which were loose to touch.

Kirk is an artist. We were a bit concerned at first because it seemed like a job better suited for a team than a solo performer but he assured us that he could handle the project. He was on time for all his appointments, went way way out of his way to show my picky wife about every baluster available, finished the work on time and actually went under budget. We could not have been happier.

I called Kirk on a Tuesday I think and he was able to come out and give me a bid that same Friday. The bid to replace 110 wood spindles with wrought iron was very competitive, it was the best price I found. Kirk came out 2 weeks later to do the job , he did not try to upsell me on a more expensive or more decorative spindle and the work he did was outstanding. I used the least expensive spindle but it ended up looking much more expensive then I thought it would. Kirk came early, covered everything with plastic and was done in about 4 hours. I wish I would have done this much sooner, it looks amazing and has done so much to update the looks of my home. Kirk does a great job and I would refer him to anyone that wants to upgrade the look of their staircase.

Kirk was really great to work with when it came to my project. His objective was to make the customer happy and he did. He was on time and completed the project in a timely manner. He worked on our project for a full day. When he came across an obstacle he allowed us plenty of time to make a decision. Also if we had an issue or question while performing the project he would make the change no questions asked. You will be very happy with your end product. If you are looking to get your stairs stained I would still work with him and get a bid from a painter. No one will come close to his quotes. And I mean this in a good way. Remember he does not stain but his quotes are a lot lower than others and you get a great product

Kirk Mather came out to my residence and provided me with an estimate of the work he was to provide. Kirk was professional and likeable. We decided to let him do this stair work for us. Now that the job has been completed, we made a very good decision. Kirk is very busy but was able to work us in on 7/9/13 before we were to leave on vacation. He showed up on time at 8am and immediately began working. He put paper and card board down on our new floors before he began removing the old stairs. He worked all day long and had the job completed by the end of the day. We did run into some unexpected things but he was able to handle them just fine. He is easy to work with and does an excellent job. My wife and I are very pleased with the finished project and would not hesitate to use Kirk in the future. You won't be disappointed.

Kirk and I planned on him being at my house at 8:00 in the morning he called the night before just to confirm the time, he was at my house at 7:45 ready to work, he went over everything he was going to do before he started, sounded great , so I stuck around for awhile, Kirk was hard at work tearing down existing stairway, I really could not go up or down stairs obviously since he was tearing them down, so I ask if he would be ok if I were to leave and go do some errands around town that I would be close by if he needed me or had any questions just to call me , I checked back in a couple of hours later he was still working hard and he told me that he did not like the way a section of the wood was done at the top of the railing so he took it offf and sheet rocked it and added a rosett for no additional charge, so I left again, when Kirk was finished at around 6:00 my stairs looked absolutely beatifull!!!!!!!, stunning!! , just what I envisioned them being for years, and now I have gorgeous stairs, Kirk knows stairs, and he truly LOVES what he does he told me that and it shows, Kirk started at 7:45 and worked until job was done and them he left my house and porch where he set up cleaner then it was before he came, wonderful experience so glad I chose k2 stairs, stairs look like a million bucks, money well spent.
Description of Work: took down basically most of the stairs, and rebuilt them with beautiful wood railing, new steps and beautiful iron post, all the old ugly trim part and replaced it to make it look like stairs are suppose to.

It went extremely well. Kirk came out when he was scheduled, worked with me to pick out materials and the finished look of the staircase, gave me an estimate for the work which was accepted, and set up a time to do the actual work. He explained what he'd be doing, and how, and ensured I understood all the steps and that it would take 2 days for the work. We scheduled a date 2 weeks later. Kirk showed up on time, and got right to work. After setting out drop cloths to catch any sawdust, etc., he completely removed my old staircase. Because the old one was literally built into the wall, he had to spend some extra time removing some extra wood and reworking it to ensure a good finish. After that, he put in the main staircase. He had the new steps in place by the end of the day, so that we could get to the upstairs if needed. He returned the next day, and put in the new posts and the rail. He stained the rail to exactly match the bottom step, and ensured all the posts were in solidaly. Because of the new bottom step, with a rounded end piece, the carpet had to be reshaped to meet the new lines. Kirk did this for us as part of the service. He had to use one of our carpet remnants to make a new piece to fit, and did a great job fitting it, so that you can't tell it's a separate piece if you didn't know that. The final price came in right at his estimate, and we were ecstatic at the results.
Description of Work: My home, built in 1985, had stairs that were both becoming rickety, and were out of code (the posts holding the handrail were 8-10 inches apart, and kids could get their heads stuck). K-2 Stairs completely removed the old staircase, and replaced it with a beautiful staircase with metal posts, and installed a stained wood handrail and bottom step. They also reshaped the carpeting around the bottom step, so that it made a good fit with the new stairs.
