We had a great experience from start to finish with Abe and Top Quality Fence. We first contacted Abe and two other companies to get estimates. Abe and one other company responded and gave us estimates. From the beginning we got a good feel from Abe and his attention to detail and quality. When we got the quotes back, Top Quality was a little higher, but the extra quality was worth the extra expense in our opinion. We had really underestimated the cost for our project and had to put it on hold for a month while we saved some more money. Abe's estimate allowed for us to pick from a menu-style document to add/remove as many "extras" as we wanted to make sure we were within our budget. When we had the money saved, we called Abe and in under 2 weeks we had the fence completed. The crew brought the materials on a Friday, started the work on Saturday and then came back and finished it on Monday morning. The crew was very nice and paid attention to our requests throughout the work and we were very comfortable having them in our yard while they did the work. It turns out that the three crew members were brothers, all of whom had worked for Top Quality for 5 years or more. We're so glad we picked Abe and Top Quality Fence.
Description of Work: They removed our previous chain link fence, concrete base and build our new cedar fence.

There were three guys that came in and worked over 3 days to complete entire project. The crew arrived on time and worked quickly and professionally. I have rock in the ground. The crew had to dig all the holes manually. The work was done while we were at work every day. The crew was carefull about not to damage anything, not even one plant and about keeping the yard secured, as we have a pool. Quality work was exceptional. Crew cleaned up the worksite and left the yard in great shape. I found no leftove debris. I had absolutely no problems with them and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed old fence 335 feet, hauled it away and installed new 6 foot fence with metal posts .095 gauge, two gates and 2x6 board was placed under the fence at the ground level. Abe uses 2x4 rails instead of instead of the usual 2x3 and 1x4 pickets. Gates have 4 posts and 3 hinges instead of the usual two. Wood was pre-seeled, dipped and medium brown. Top Quality Fence uses the best nails and bolts. Attention to details was incredible. The fence looks like a work of art. Abe provided a thorough explanation of what was included in the price, how the fence and the gate would be build and the quality of the materials to be used. He was very honest about the work he did and the quality of work he does. He was honest and upfront about everything. Abe explained exactly which posts would be placed, how tall and how deep the posts would be set. He took care of all permits and contacts with the city and utilities. He made the whole experience completely positive.

We were very pleased with our experience with Top Quality. Abe and his crew are very professional and efficient. Abe was prompt in coming out to give us a bid and was very conscientious in talking with us to make sure that he knew exactly what we wanted. The fence was started in the time frame that he indicated and was completed in 2 days. We are extremely pleased with our new fence. We would highly recommend Top Quality to others.

Abe did a great job. His crew installed the fence along the driveway which looked great. He partnered with Joe who did the swinging driveway gate, which looks great as well. Abe was very patient with my wife and I, walking us through the process and even giving us the addresses of other jobs he'd done so that we could see his work. We were very pleased. The price was fair and all of the workers were very courteous and professional. Would suggest them to anyone.

I got a total of 5 proposals for this fence repair (all but one was listed on Angie's) and I seriously considered 3 of those. Top Quality Fence and one ?other? fence company explained in detail what work would be done. That "other" fence company was $390 less than Top Quality. The third fence company was $500 less then Top Quality?s original proposal and came with neighbors recommendations (& was on Angie's), but that contractor did not communicate enough details, except to say he?d replace 3 existing posts & run a 2x6 along the bottom of the fence (Which posts? How deep would the 2x6's be, how deep would the posts be set? How would they straighten the other end? Etc.)?he told me his foreman would know what to do and do it right. Perhaps the other fence companies would have done the same quality job for less. I did some ?homework? before I called for the repairs so I had some idea what I?d like to hear in their proposals. I was not assured those other companies would listen with respect or communicate if I had concerns during the repair process. Abe with Top Quality Fence explained exactly which posts would be replaced, how tall & how deep the posts would be set, why the fence leaned to begin with (post weren't set deep enough & were too far apart), explained the back section of the fence needed 2x6 at the base (& would require some digging down to the bottom of the pickets) to prevent wash out of the dirt, & to keep dirt off the bottom of the pickets, how deep the layers of 2x6?s would be, and discussed smaller details that I would not have thought about. He came up with a proposal onsite. I?d also asked about some other fence work I needed but it was not necessarily something I?d included in discussion with every other company. Abe?s original proposal to fix my leaning fence included repair to the gate and removal of an iron fence which he said would be ?nothing? to do since the crew would already be on site and the cost of materials minimal. Once he ?backed-out? those additional two jobs his proposal was more in line with the other three bids, but was still a bit higher. I went with Top Quality because it was apparent that Abe took pride in his work, explained (more than the others) what needed to be done, adjusted the bid, was able to get to the job right away, and (last, but not least) there was and would be excellent communication. I was confident the fence would be repaired as proposed and to my satisfaction. The two-man crew arrived on-time. They replaced one post & set two new posts 12? posts (metal), all 3? deep, straightened the other posts (5) as described during our initial discussion of repairs. I had a concern about the way the crew was lining up the 2x6 boards so I called Abe, he understood my concern, agreed, and in turn he called the crew. They needed an air gun to drive the nails, so they completed the repair on the second day. Each day they hosed off the mud and left the patio area near the pool in clean condition. The third day I discovered my sprinkler line was broken, called Abe and he sent a couple of guys over to fix the broken sprinkler. That ?crew? didn?t clean the mud they?d tracked around the pool patio, but they found the sprinkler was broken in two areas & repaired both. At the back corner of the fence there is a large Rubbermaid deck box that sits on cinder block pads where the 3 new posts were dug & set, & where the 2x6?s were placed to retain the dirt. A few days later I noticed the dirt below pads (along the edge near the fence) was washing out. I called Abe. He came the same day, filled the area under the blocks with dirt which seems to have stabilized the erosion under the blocks. He also cleaned up the mud from the previous sprinkler repair. The entire project went smoothly; glitches were addressed promptly & corrected to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Top Quality Fence & will call them when a new fence or repair is needed. DO : Get separate bids for each individual project & ask if they'll do one project for the same price if you decide to have the other projects done elsewhere; DO: your homework; DO: listen & take notes; DO: get a written bid DON'T: tell them what you think will correct the problem, or what another company said they'd do; let them tell you how they'll fix it.
Description of Work: Replaced 1 metal fence post and added 2 more; added 3-8' sections of 2x6's at base for retaining dirt, straightened 5 leaning posts.

The project took less than 2 weeks from initial phone call to completion. The actual work took 2-3 days. The biggest delay was waiting about a week for the locks which had to be special ordered. Some stain/solvent was spilled and killed a few patches of my grass. This was a minor negative. These types of things happen. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future.
Description of Work: They replaced and reset the metal posts, and replaced the mechanisms for 2 decorative metal and wood gates. One of the gates had repeatedly shifted, despite multiple "fixes" by other contractors, so we devised an underground structure of 2 braces between the gate posts to make it stable. This preserved the appearance of the gate which has decorative wrought iron figures across the top. Also added were combination locks on both gates. The metal gate components were repainted, and the wood components were repaired and re-stained as needed. The locks require very close tolerances in the width between gate posts. The "problem" gate began to bind again. I called Abe, the owner, and he promptly sent out a crew to readjust it on 1/18/2012. Abe reaffirmed to me that he stands by his work and will gladly come back out again if I have any problems.

Overall, the experience was positive. There was a minor hiccup and the crew was not available the day that we originally scheduled, but that was understandable since we scheduled it the evening before. The crew came out the day after and they completed their work within a couple hours. In addition to fixing that post, they also wound up addressing 1 or 2 other minor fence issues while they were on site. They tweaked the gate to add in a stop using some of the old boards that would've been otherwise scrapped. I was very pleased with the end product.
Description of Work: We have a fence along our driveway behind the house. The original installers (who were not Top Quality Fence and Arbor, LLC) chose to nail the post into the mortar between the house's brickwork instead of breaking into the concrete pad and setting a proper post. Over the years, all of the opening and closing of the gate along that post had pulled the post away from the brick. I asked them to come out and explain different options and how effective they might be. We had a really pleasant, informative and helpful talk about not only this post, but some other "issues" that might present themselves the next few years. It was such a positive experience, that I decided to go ahead and schedule that service for the next day.

I contacted Abe (as well as a couple of other contractors) about our concept and Abe came out the next morning to take a look. Immediately, we were talking about possibilities, bouncing ideas off each other. He had recommendations but was incredibly polite and respectful and above all else, wanted to know exactly what I wanted. I actually had a very specific design in mind and sketched it out for him. I had a quote the very next morning and we talked at length about options, lumber size, and the asthetics of my design and how it could be done and within our budget. The biggest challenge ended up being getting the lumber up 3 stories safely. The 4"x10"'s looked heavy! A day and a half later, our rooftop arbor was complete and it looked even better than I envisioned! The guys left after picking everything up. My wife and I are absolutely happy with the job Abe and his guys did. He also did a deck post remove/replace at our rental house 5 minutes away and did a great job at that too. Out of the three contractors contacted for this job, Abe was the only one who was really able to understand our concept and delivered at a very reasonable rate and within 4 days from our first phone conversation complete construction! the other guys came in high with cheaper cuts of lumber and really did not have the type of correspondence that gave me the confidence that Abe did. Well done sir, and thank you for building us a pergola that we will be enjoying for many many years!

Abe did a fantastic job of going over the top in service, quality and customer satisfaction. He proactively took a visit to the home to provide an accurate quote of his services. He was able to not only get his crew in place in a short time window but also was able to complete the work in a very fast timeframe. The crew was extremely professional and motivated, while making sure to focus on quality. Abe is very adamant about only using quality practices and materials and this is reflected in the end product. We love our fence and I would recommend Top Quality Fence to anyone.

Abe came to the house and did a thorough, detailed presentation of his experience, his company's history and completely explained our options and what the procedure would be. The quote was exact, the work was completed as estimated and the fence is beautiful. If you are considering a new fence, I strongly suggest that you call Abe at Top Quality. We are extremely impressed with his professionalism, genuine concern for customer service -- and, besides, he's a pleasure to visit with. He made the whole experience completely positive. We had a substantial fence and auto gate put around our property. Abe's work was second to none. During our remodel this became my pet project, and as it was not cheap ($21,000) i had all the big companies bid it. Abe got the job and did not disappoint. His work came with a list of warranties but you never know how they will be when asked to honor them until you do. When I called Abe and told him the gate needed tweaking he had his gate guy call me and walk me through what turned out to be a super simple process. Also while i had him on the phone I mentioned a couple of boards had cracked and asked if he could get around to it when he slowed down. He didn't have a crew that was slow so the next day Abe showed up and fixed everything himself. Top notch no pun intended! I would and do recommed Abe to anyone that need level 10 work at a level 7-8 price. Trust me on this I bid everyone that did these big jobs that had good references and Abe came in on the low end when you really compared apples to apples line by line but his work and customer service is a 10.

It was completely perfect. They go above and beyond on everything, and our fence is just gorgeous. They had the work done within days of us contracting them. Description of Work: I have used Top Quality Fence for multiple projects over the last 7 or 8 years. They have replaced fences, repaired existing fences, and installed both cedar and metal fences on our Dallas property. Most recently they installed 100' of new cedar fence. I have always been more than happy with the price, quality and speed of service. Well the project stared on a good note. Abe is professional, but he is not the one that builds the gate. He is the bidder and another crew arrives to build the gate and another crew installs the electrical system. Abe promised me the gate could be completed within a week time frame. Project ended up taking about 3 weeks. This was a project that required a lot of patience on my part. There were so many issues that arrived while building the gate and the project was delayed. Some of the issues could have been avoided if Abe made different decisions from the start as to how to handle the project. Other issues were from the other contractors not showing up on time and wasting my time. The final product was nice and the gate operated like it was suppose to work. However, there were just numerous challenges. I gave Abe a "B" on professionalism and punctuality because I graded the entire team and Abe ended up leaving my family hanging when we tried to get him to do additional work. I am not sure if Abe was just overwhelmed at the end of the project because of all the challenges or was he just too through with working with our family. I did attempt to get an bid on another project but Abe never showed or called again. Overall the gate looks and functions great and I would recommend his services.

I was very impressed that Abe took the time to explain in detail the level of work that goes into fence replacement and the automation behind an electric gate. He provided a quote within 24 hours as an emailed PDF file, describing in detail all the options. Though I was unable to hire Top Quality due to other pressing home repair/maintenance issues, Abe said he would honor the quote until the time I'm ready. I don't expect him to keep the same quote for over a year but it is a great gesture nonetheless. Abe spent the better part of two hours with me, taking measurements and going over the property in detail. I cannot remember any contractor taking that much care and time to make sure all needs were met before going forward. Abe's work can be seen all over the area so I have no doubt about the quality. Abe recently contacted me in June to check up on the situation and just to touch base. Like a true professional, he has not dismissed any potential clients simply because they could not hire him at that time. I told Abe that Top Quality is at the "top" of my list when it comes time to do the work. In all my interactions with Abe, he has given me a level of trust that makes me want to hire him sooner than later. His price was fair and accurate for the amount of work needed. I can't wait for 2012.
Description of Work: I called Abe to get an estimate on an "L" shaped backyard fence replacement along with an automated carport fence and entry gates. Abe was prompt, cordial, and thorough in his assessment of the property and in explaining how Top Quality Fence does its work. Though the finances will not be available to do the work estimated until 2012, I felt a great level of confidence and trust with Abe, especially after reading other Angie's List reports. Abe took measurements and explained the various solutions. Based on the linear footage, hauling of old materials and equipment, and the cost of creating, installing and automating a carport gate (which he told me over the phone typically costs around $4K), I felt that the price for the fence (approx. $7-8K) was consistent with quotes around the area. The differentiator will be in the service and quality and I think Abe will be a winner.

The purpose of this report is to two-fold: provide Abe with feedback as to why I didn't use his company, and more importantly, to give back to my fellow consumers on The List. Abe showed up promptly at our agreed-upon time. He was very nice and friendly. We discussed the type of fence I was looking for, which was primarily privacy. We then went over his bid. Compared to others I have seen, his form has few options, meaning you don't know what options are available unless he mentions them. Having no previous knowledge about fences and the types of cedar available, No. 1 cedar seemed like the best, but as I came to learn through other bidders, the best cedar is "clear". The difference is that No. 1 cedar has knots, which is what pops out as the fence gets old to get those little holes. And as you can see from every picture posted in other reports, none of the fences appears to be built with clear cedar, which is not what I could call "top quality". I would rather have heard it from Abe than learned it from other bidders. Back to his form, as other reviewers have mentioned, it felt like there were too many separate charges that instead of providing transparency, actually felt more like nickel-and-diming, such as a separate charge for each gate, a haul-away charge (all bidders I spoke to hauled away), a rock charge for digging in any rock they may find (this is Dallas afterall). The Contract Conditions at the bottom of the form in small print also provides for additional charges. For example, if the contract is canceled there is a penalty of 10% of the bid; there's no warranty on fence material and only three years on workmanship; and the small print includes several disclaimers such as him not being responsible for damage to sprinklers, etc. This is the only bid I've seen with all this legalese. As he went over the bid he showed me one of the nails that he uses in building the fence that felt more like a sales gimmick than something that really matters. I would recommend that he not bother with it. One thing you should also know is that if he doesn't hear back from you, he will call repeatedly and over six months to see if you have made a decision that, after a couple months, feels more like a battle of wills than someone just following up on a sales lead. A battle of wills is not really the posture I want to be in with a service provider, and especially not before the service has even started. In the end, I used a company that uses only clear cedar and built a taller fence (7' 6") with unlimited gates (including any decorative trim) who provides a 10-year warranty for an overall cost of about $100 less.
Description of Work: 260 ft No. 1 and 2 cedar board-on-board fence stepped from 6' (No. 1 cedar) tall to 7' (No. 2 cedar) along alley with top cap and double trim and two gates quoted at $11,200.

A friend of mine got them off the list. I spent $10500 on that service. They were excellent, very good and were extremely responsive. They negotiated the price with me to something I was happy with. They were very, very nice. The work went excellent and they were in and out in three days and the fence was up. They did a great job. There were a couple of teeny issues with putting up the fence, but they came back and fixed them very promptly. The guy that runs it is very nice and very helpful. The always use the same guy who did the driveway gate and he was excellent. He put in the structure and the sub contractor put in the cladding on it and they put in the structure.
Description of Work: I used Top Quality Fence in November and they put up a fence and electronic driveway gates, which was a sliding gate.
