There is really no way to overstate the value of the service this company provides. Our home was built in 2005 by a high quality custom home builder, but had rain leaks on the front windows from the start. The builder was very conscientious in trying to solve the problem, but numerous repairs over a five year period failed to stop the leaks. I am sure he spent thousands of dollars on roof repairs, brick replacement, sealants, etc. I accidentally came across Rain Leak Solutions on Angie's List, and called Randy. He came out, and almost immediately discovered that the source of the leak was from holes drilled through the window sills for the sensors when the alarm system was installed. Water was making its way from the upstairs windows to the first floor windows below. He repaired and sealed these areas as well as numerous areas of the roof, flashings, and vent stacks. One section of the roof decking had to be replaced where a sag had developed. Angie's List should really have a category just for Rain Leaks. My problem could have been solved years earlier if we had known this service was available.
Description of Work: Detected and repaired several areas in our home which have been the source of rain leaks--windows, roof, and vents.

I called Randy from Rain Leak Solutions in late May 2011 and asked him to fix two windows that were showing signs of leaking. He asked me to go to his website and fill out a work order request and he would call me back. I did so and he called me back the next day. He sounded very professional and helpful over the phone and offered to come out, look at the windows, and provide an estimate. However, he was unable to provide an appointment to come to my house and provide an estimate because his schedule was very full. I was fine with that, because the leaks seemed very minor and were only causing cosmetic problems. After a week or so I called him back asking to make an appointment for him to see my windows and we set an appointment for June 10, 2011. According to my wife, Randy was very professional and helpful during his visit and told her that he would email an estimate to me soon. After another week or so I had not received an email from Randy, so I called him back and asked him to email an estimate to me. He agreed that he should have done so already and apologized. We also discussed his observation of my windows and discussed potential solutions. I was under the impression that Randy was interested in fixing them for me. On July 8, 2011 I emailed Randy and asked again for him to email an estimate to me as he originally promised and mentioned that I would like the work done by July 20, 2011 if possible. I have yet to receive a reply from him. I would really like my windows fixed and from the other AngiesList reviews that I've read, I think Rain Leak Solutions would be a great service provider. However, I get the impression that my needs are not important to them.
Description of Work: No services were performed because I never received an estimate.

The member is right to be upset! I would be upset too! His job slipped through the cracks. He did call me and I assured him that I would email a price. I didn't get it done. My office work is suffering because I need to be on every job doing or inspecting the work. I don't have office help. Time passed and the member emailed me a bit angry at this point, rightfully so and softly threatened to take his business elsewhere if I didn't respond and give him priority attention. He definately deserved it! but I have found that if a person CALLS and politely reminds and asked where they are on the list without the threat (for lack of a better word) that they're preparing to take their business elsewhere as the member did, my guilt level can't take it and I push them to the top of the list! So please before posting a negative report on Angies List, JUST CALL! You are important to me and I'M THE ONLY GUY IN THE METROPLEX THAT DOES WHAT I DO.

Randy came out, quickly found and diagnosed the problem and gave us an estimate. He also identified a leak on the second story that we had not noticed yet. He made all the necessary repairs, to include replacing our backdoor and outside facia boards on the windows and door, sealed all the leaks and potential leaks around the windows and door, and MATCHED the interior and exterior paint colors (we had no touch-up paint to go from). By the time he was done you could not tell that any work had been done. The repairs were put to the test during the last two nights (June 20 and 21, 2011) when we experienced severe rainstorms and high winds--NO LEAKING!!!!!!! We are overjoyed--Thank You Randy. Rain Leak Solutions worked quickly and efficiently. Their clean-up was impeccable! I have total confidence in recommending Rain Leak Solutions to anyone. Rain Leak Solutions guarantees the work for two years. If you have a rain leak, call Rain Leak Solutions FIRST!

Thank you so much for your possitive report! I work hard to make every job PERFECT, and with that as my goal I can honestly say we get pretty close most of the time. We've had a very tough year with scheduling and promptnes because of all the storms and we haven't made everyone happy in that regard, but I have a 100% leak stop success rate! And that is the most important part of what I do. It feels so good to see my score back up to all A's! Thanks again!

When we called him to get him over, we had already experienced roof leaks and asked him if he could fix them while he was here. He said yes, but that he was very busy. He would stop by the next day. He did not show up. We called him again, and he said he would stop by on Sunday while he was in the area, he did not show up. We did not call back. Finally two weeks later, he called and asked if he could come. We agreed. He came at the scheduled time. He asked me about the leaks, I told him where they were, as we had already figured out where they were coming from, the Chimney and corner where the porch meets the roof. He walked around for 5 minutes, came back with a list that windows needed caulking, masonry needed repair, which we had already received an estimate, and wrote down what I had told him about repairing the roof, which was just caulk. His estimate to do the needed repairs was $1700 plus dollars. He wanted $600. just to do the roof repairs, which was just caulking. He never even went up on the roof to see if that was all that was needed! He was very nice, but has no idea what the going rates are for the work he is offering.
Description of Work: He did an inspection for water leaks all over outside, including windows, roof, etc.

My apologies to the members. I did lose control of my schedule and over booked around major wind and rain storms. There is only three of us. I don't have an office manager to make calls to re-schedule and I did drop the ball. I understand your frustration regarding my promptness. However, regarding the quality of my inspection, my service, my integrity, or any related pricing, Most members have found me to be honest, and my pricing sometimes painful but acceptable if fairly compared. Many homeowners think the cheapest price is the going rate! There are many storm chasers, fly-by-night scam artists that will gladly do a $600.00 repair for $200.00 because they often don't have insurance, don't pay taxes, aren't legal, and have no intention of returning if there is a reoccurring leak! We know our competition and many of their going rates are quite different than ours and not in your best interterest! I want to win every customer! I know I won't.

It seemed like a long time since we first contacted him, so the job was actually not done on time because of the rain. He is based out of a city that is further away from where we live and he was busy with his clients as he was scheduled with them. Some of the jobs were of more emergency when compared to ours. So we had to keep re-scheduling him and the job was getting delayed. We have had rains since the job was completed and we haven't had any leaks.

He did find some things that needed done. He sent me an e-mail estimate prioritizing the things that needed to be done the most. I chose two of the things to be done. He did some caulking and repair around the chimney and gas vents. He was hard to get ahold of to schedule the repairs. He was apologetic about it. There had been a lot of rain in the area and he was bombarded. He did miss his initial appointment. On the plus side we did have some more rain the other day and he did call to see how things were holding up. I thought that was a good follow up.

Wow! Tough grades! Scheduling the kind of work we do in between wind and rain storms is extremely difficult. Many delays and rescheduling is the norm and it is frustrating for many homeowners until they stop and think about it. I drove 35 miles to do this job because more rain was expected. 70 miles round trip. Price and quality should both be A's! I sealed up SIX extra vents and painted all the rusty vents and flashing FREE! I thought that would make up for my punctuality! The charge was $255.00 and everything is covered with a Two Year Warranty! That's a Super Deal! It's as close to free as you can get! Thank you very much for the opportunity to be of service!

On the initial phone call, I identified the points of entry for Randy because I knew the areas that I already had fixed. What I needed was someone to tell me if the leak had been stopped. Without spraying or using any water, the technician simply repeated to Randy the same areas I had already identified. I didn't need another identification. I needed an inspection of the sealing effort I had already made to see if it was sufficient. After the "inspector" called me to tell me what I already knew, I asked to have Randy call me back. I reminded Randy that I had already given him the points of entry and asked why he didn't explain then what the purpose of the inspection, which was simply to identify areas where I could spend even more money to have him seal areas that I had already sealed. After repeating several times that he was a "professional" and this is how he runs his business and no one was going to tell him how to run his business, I asked him to just send the report that I paid for. I still haven't received it.
Description of Work: Identify points of entry for potential sealing services to be rendered separately. However, I was under the impression that this was a leak check and not just an inspection.

The member thought he was buying water tests for three leak repair attempts he tried to do to his rent house. I politely said no a water test wasn't included and I told him that the rain leak inspection was to document active leaks, potential future leaks and make recommendations repairs and estimate the cost. He said that's not what he wanted after we had completed the inspection. I apologized for any misunderstanding and I apologize for the long delay in sending the report. We had almost 50 Homeowners that were very exited about this program, understood the concept, and had us fix their leaks right away! Please call if you reconsider. No hard feelings here!

They came over and were able to fit me in. They did a splendid job as far as I can tell, of course I won't know until it rains again. They came out and did the work and looked at the roof and told me they found a few other places I might have a problem with in the future so I told them to fix those, too. They gave me a package deal and I was very pleased. I did refer my sister to them and she is planning to use them too, but they happen to be backed up at the moment.

Whenever it would rain hard with strong winds we had several places that would leak. I had a new roof put on in 2007 by a good roofer and I thought my rain leaks would go away; they did not. The roofer came back about 5 times and caulked and re-caulked everything they could think of but could not fix it. I had searched for someone that specialized in rain leaks because roofers just didn't seem to be have the expertise. Somehow I stumbled upon Randy. The name of his company tells you what he does and he has been doing it for a long time. Within 5 minutes at the first visit to my house he identified what he believed was causing one of the leaks and I believe he is correct. He arrived promptly at the scheduled time and date and worked hard with an assistant to seal the house. I believe Randy is one of those people that takes pride in his work and does it the way you want it to be done. We have already recommended him to friends and would suggest anyone needing his services to contact him. In fact, if our next move is in the area, we will probably have him come over to do a preventive sealing of the home because of the peace of mind.

Showed up a little bit late, but we had torrential rain during the travel time so it was fine. Estimator seemed very skilled in paint matching and drywall repair as well as identifying the water leak from discussions with him. Gave us a total bill of about $375, which we thought was fair. He did not have availability to work on our job though, and said he would contact us soon to arrange a date. We still haven't heard back. I have a feeling that our job might be SO small compared to his usual work that it may be difficult to fit us in.

One of our large windows had water come in every time we had a hard, wind driven rain from the North. Three other companies came out, assessed the problem and applied their fix and handed me their bill. None of the three fixes (all roofers who thought they knew why we had a major leak) did anything to alleviate the leaking problem. I did a search for leak repair and found Randy in a random INTERNET search. It only took him 1 hour to assess the problem and fix the problem. Since he did his repair, we have had no leaks. Other neighbors on the street have since used his services and all have been satisfied.

My heart goes out to the people that find Rain Leak Solutions after they have paid other services to fix a rain leak problem. Unfortunately there is not a category provided by Angie's List specifically for "Rain Leaks", and there should be. I have tried several times to convince Angie's staff' that her members would be well served by doing so. Maybe if enough customers requested it, she'll do it to serve future customers better.

It went very well. Randy always showed up ready to work when he said he would. He took the time to explain everything he was doing. He also appeared to not rush through his work. He was meticulous and appeared to take the time to do the job right. The drywall/ceiling repairs look near perfect and I'm confident that we won't have any further issues with the two windows he repaired. I recommend Randy's services.
