The experience was pretty disappointing overall. When the company signed up for the Big Deal, Randy seemed to get incredibly overwhelmed. After the initial inspection, it took them months to get back to us and respond to us. The Deal was purchased in April and after several emails, I received an estimate in July. Randy was incredibly nice, but ultimately, the Deal wasn’t worth it because of how much time it took.

ALMOST 2- YEARS AGO! I WAS OVERWHELMED! THIS BEAUTIFUL OLDER HOUSE HAD SO MUCH NEEDED MAINTENANCE and the budget was not there to do what needed to be done. I brought other "smaller" contractors over to price out MAJOR siding replacement and a complete re-roof and the job was too big for them at that time too. That was almost 2-years ago. I did not have a network of good "reconstruction or renovation" contractors. I wanted to help this dear couple, but the job was too much and almost 40 miles away.

Overall, a very satisfying encounter. We had a little hiccup in the scheduling of the original inspection due to personal circumstances, but it was eventually completed. For sealing leaks in doors, windows, etc., Randy's cladding system is a permanent fix I am told, even though I have not had the work done yet. I have seen pictures, and the results looked very nice.
Description of Work: Randy is a very competent professional with a unique solution to water intrusion and damage repair. I have not utilized his services yet, as I am in the process of installing a new custom iron front door, but I will likely utilize his services in the future.

My roof had been replaced, but it was still leaking; the roofing company could not stop the leaks though they tried a couple of times. Randy came and inspected my roof and attic and promised that he could find and stop the leaks. He also did all the other work listed above - fixing windows and doors to weatherproof my house and stop all wind and rain leaks. Randy was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly and above all did what he promised, and what the roofers could not do - stopped the leaks in my roof! His workmanship was excellent. This is a great company and I highly recommend them.

We needed an assessment of our roof condition after spring storms and prior to listing our home for sale. We contacted Rain Leak Solutions and they came out promptly at our appointment time. They did a thorough walk-through of our entire roof and gutter system, and followed up with a complete and detailed report. This showed us all of the areas of concern and helped us in dealing with the insurance company and ultimately the roofing contractor.
Description of Work: Comprehensive examination and report of our roof.

It seemed like this inspection was a way for them to land big jobs. They gave me a $20K quote after the inspection not because there was an active leak or even a chance of an active leak but for all the preventive things they were recommending. They were way over priced and I thought it was a very bad business idea to try to do something like this. Then they dropped the price to $4,200.00. I got some of it done at a fraction of the cost and have not had any issues.

QUESTION. Why would I try to gouge Angie's list customers out of ALL people when they have a reporting system like this?? Seems like that would be like shooting myself in the foot! This poor lady like so many does not understand the concept and bennefits of Preventive Maintenance! Based on the sub-standard work around the Customer's house, she has been taken to the cleaners! Not by quality and yes more expensive companies like mine, but by cheap unskilled do-it-all handymen! I told her when I was there she was going to have to RE-DO much of the work she had done previously because of the poor quality workmanship! She did not want to here any part of that! She obviously felt like I was the one out trying to steal her money! Customer, I am very proud of the work I do and so are my happy customers. May God bless you, and I wish you the best of luck.

There was a roof leak over my daughter's bedroom that had gotten worse since we moved in. As there was a significant storm forecasted for later in the week, Rain Leak Solutions came out ahead of the storm and put in a temporary fix so the storm wouldn't cause any additiional damage to my daughter's bedroom ceiling. Top notch work, would highly recommend. Very pleased with my experience.
Description of Work: I don't remember now how much I paid, but I would say the service was top notch. Rain Leak Solutions came out and did a thorough inspection of the house and listed what could be better and recommended some vendors who could come and make the repairs. Totally gave me the option to fix what I wanted. Overall got a solid recommendation for how to improve the situation. This member is not being fair and completely truthful. Member first claimed to have purchased our inspection coupon and then emailed us to set up an appointment. Long story short a coupon was NOT purchaced and I emailed them to let them know they would have to purchase one. Several days/weeks later they purchaced a coupon after a big rain. They emailed again to set up an apointment. I let them know we were very busy and I'd get back. I DID NOT get back quickly and I do apologize for that. I am a 3 - MAN OPPERATION, NOT A BIG COMPANY. I run very hard and do my very best for every one of my customers. MY BIGGEST FAULT after a hard day CLIMBING 2 and 3 story LADDERS is not responding as promptly as I should and I do apologize for that. Randy did an inspection of our 90 year old house and came up with a plan to tighten up leaking areas, including brick/mortar, roof, doors, windows, vents, etc. His estimate was a lot, but so was the amount of work to be done. Our house has a lot of failing mortar, most specifically. He arrived on time and completed the work in 2-3 days. They repainted areas worked on and cleaned up after finishing. It looks great and I feel comfortable that rain isn't penetrating behind the bricks, or around windows, the roof line, etc. Randy was professional, knowledgable and I'd use him again.

Randy provides a 2-year warranty against any rain leak. I know for sure that my house is well protected from water damage now and feel that this was an investment that will pay off by preventing future repairs. His attention to detail is outstanding.
Description of Work: Randy specializes in protecting your house from any rain leaks. He worked on every window to remove old dried up caulk and replaced with top of the line polyurethane caulk that lasts permanently. He also checked/fixed every window to make sure rain will drain properly from the window sill out the weep hole instead of finding places under the sill where water can go inside the walls. He installed screws on the bottom of every window screen to raise them slightly so that water can escape more easily. He inspected/fixed all the mortar where it had cracked and filled them with poly that matched the mortar. In one place he even applied some dry mortar mix on top of the poly to make it match perfectly. He showed me several places where water could easily penetrate without the repairs. I needed a new/better drier vent on the roof so he brought a new one for me and installed it. He converted it so that it can be opened with 2 screws and cleaned when the drier vent guys come to clean out the vent hose. Some guys previously had taken off the old vent when they cleaned the vent and put it back on wrong side up and left exposed screws. So, Randy put the new on and made it where it does not have to be removed, preventing any potential leaks. He inspected the entire roof and chimney which was all in good shape but did some touch up caulking with the poly.

Purchased a coupon for rain leak inspection and Randy came out March 9th. I showed him my main issues with some old wood siding on the side of the house that was leaking and it would come inside to the spare bedroom ceiling also had some flashing missing when the roof was replaced many years ago. He then walked the whole outside, making notes and said he would get back with a proposal early the following week. I did receive the proposal and it was pretty much in line with what he had verbally quoted. I finally was able to schedule a day that was good for the both of us and he (along with his helper) was right on time. He laid out what he was going to do, the material he was using and about how long it would take. The old siding was replaced with hardi plank & painted, new felt, caulking, new rafter tail, new flashing put down and the roof shingles were re-used, adjusted the 2 front gutters to help with the flow of the water. It was done within 4 hours and the work was very good. Since then, there have been several big rain storms and happy to report not one issue with Randy's work. I am very pleased.
Description of Work: Removed damaged siding, rafter tail & corner of roof at southeast side of house. Installed new felt, hardi plank siding, roof flashing, caulked & painted; adjusted 2 front gutters for better water flow.

Sorry Member, we have been having terrible trouble with our help. The extreme heat has left us short handed and good quality guys are hard to find. This business is filled with many undesirable "leak trackers" that will take advantage of your impatience. We know this first hand as we have recently discovered that one of our hopeful and promising helpers had brought alcohol to the job! When confronted by me he quit and signed up as a service provider for Angies List! (I didn't think a service provider could sign themselves up. I thought homeownwers had to reccommend a service) He also stole my 60-point inspection Big Deal idea, my forms , and is now my competition through Angie's List! My perfect reputation has been damaged because of this kind of help and reports like yours. I'm sorry for our temporary service problem. I wish you would've showed a little more grace and called back before delivering such a harsh review. If your leak reocurrs and you can't get the service you hired back to fix it, please call us back! We would like to regain your trust and maybe some kind words during our hour of need. Randy

Don't call them. I see by other reviews I'm not the only person who is unhappy. UPDATE: Thank you for the initiating a refund. I would greatly appreciate it. That is only fair as I did not receive any services. I will remove the lower grade and good luck to you in the future.
Description of Work: Purchased the 69.50 special for a roof inspection and got nothing. I consented to being pushed back for the inspection by this vendor when he found my 'issues' were not as bad as other customers. I agreed and then had to reschedule an appointment made. I reached out on March 9 and received an email on March 10th that they had come out to my home. Without me in attendance, did a review and would send me a report. What a waste of time and money. I don't need to go on about what not being involved in the inspection. Requests for the review have not turned up anything. I intend to ask for a refund for services never rendered from Angie's LIst.

Angie's List was a real help in finding exactly the company that I needed. Rain leak is not a listed category but it should be. Randy was great to work with. He is a real professional. He even performed the needed work on a Saturday because that was the best day for my schedule. All his workers are polite and competent. They know exactly what they are doing. Rain leaks are a specific category to me. I talked with roofers, carpenters and window installers and each had a different take on my problem. Rain Leak Solutions integrated all that information and came up with a repair plan that addressed all the issues in one repair session. Randy stands behind his work because he has the experience to do the very best job possible. I recommend his company highly.

Terrible. Angie got $69.50 and we got nothing but a waste of our time. No work was performed, no report received. I would not use him or recommend him to anyone
Description of Work: Randy called and made an appointment for Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. He showed up on time and did a superficial inspection, simply looking at leaks we showed. We discussed considerable repairs to Stucco, windows, deck, etc. He said he would call that evening with an estimate. No call. Called him on Monday. He said he would call the following day. No call. I called again later in the week, and he apologized and said he was very busy and would get back to me shortly. Never called. Sent him an email requesting his intentions. No response. All conversations were polite and he seemed interested in our business, but never got back to us. This contact was made initially through Angie's List Big Deals. I estimate the total cost of repairs would have been $4-$5 thousand dollars.

What I liked about Randy is he is a perfectionist and he is very good at what he does. He worked on my doors and fine tuned them until they fit to perfection. He was not satisfied with just 'being close'. He was able to install a storm door when Home Depot said it could not be done due to its location near a brick wall. Randy went the extra mile to make it work where Home Depot would not attempt it. My garage slab masonry coating was falling apart. His helper, Julio, did a masterful job of removing it and putting on a new coating. My garage door framing had wide gaps in the caulk. Julio removed all the old caulk and replaced with a very high grade poly caulk which matched the paint and has a much longer life. Randy is an expert at finding and fixing any type of rain leak problem. I plan to have him back this spring to go over my entire exterior to be pro-active about preventing any water damage.
Description of Work: Removed front and rear doors, installed new weatherstripping, adjusted alignment of both doors. Installed new storm door in the back. Replaced broken/cracked masonry coating along garage slab. Caulked both doors and around garage doors. Fixed a crack on slab foundation corner.

We called Randy after having water leaking into our master bedroom from the ceiling and through an exterior door on our second floor. Though he was busy with work from all the rain we have had, Randy was able to work us into his schedule quickly to assess the damage and possible solutions. I rated Randy a "B" for responsiveness and punctuality because it often took us a while to hear back from him and for him to let us know when he might be here to finish the work. It took several visits to the house to complete the job. Once complete, however, we were very satisfied with the work he did at our hosue. Randy was able to pinpoint right away where the water intrusion was coming from in our master bedroom. He explained in detail what he was going to do to seal up the places where water was coming into the house. As for the door upstairs, it had either been installed incorrectly to begin with or had settled over time. Either way, it was letting a lot of air and water into the house. Randy gave us two options for fixing the situation - try to fix the existing door, which he wasn't sure he could do because it was so off-kilter, or replace the whole door, frame and all, which he suggested was the better solution. We agreed, so he proceeded to replace the door. In addition to these two main projects, Randy also took the time to inspect our other doors in the house and adjust and weatherstrip them so that there was no longer air/water penetrating into the house. ***This past week, after the job was ocmplete, Randy called us after we had a heavy rain to check on his work and make sure that we were not getting water into the house anymore. We truly appreciated this call and the fact that Randy stands by all his work and guarantees it for two years.*** Overall, we are very satisfied with everything that Randy did at our house and would call him again if other issues arise. It's tough to know who to call for water leaks that don't come from the roof of the house or the windows. Randy's company name says it all - "Rain Leak Solutions"!
Description of Work: -Thorough examination of house, inside and out, where rain was penetrating. -Replaced exterior door, painted to match existing trim -Weatherized other 3 exterior doors and adjusted -re-caulked upstairs window with potential for leak -Sealed joint at house where water was penetrating

I found a leak in our attic, around the chimney area. Protected the area as best I could with containers to catch the drips. I have maintenance skills, but I dont like being on a roof at all. Checking Angies list - out of a group of businesses i found a unique service that not only would investigate leaks, but would take whatever necessary corrective action was required. so i gave Rain Leak Solutions a call on 12-15. Randy, the boss, talked with me, took some information and invited me to visit his website to firm up the details needed to set up an appt. That evening I did. i sent Randy an e-mail on the 19th, questioning whether or not he had received the info i submitted at the website. the reason i did this was because i was not sure i had entered things properly. i received an e-mail that evening, assuring me that all the info was received ok and that he would call me today. Today, Randy called early and we discussed what day this week would be good. Today turned out to be the best for the week. So he came over a little later, inspected the leak area - inside and outside. The siding on the chimney ended up being renailed, recaulked, and an old dish antenna that was no longer used was removed. All the residue and debris on the roof was swept up and removed. And I was given a written warranty. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed with the company that Angies led me to.
Description of Work: the chimney (hardee board siding with a partial bevel) covering was inspected, renailed in spots, caulked. the chimney cap was also inspected and recaulked where necessary. spots at the roof joint were also caulked.

All of the positive comments given by previous clients apply here: Randy Clyde and crew were very professional, gracious, friendly, and thorough, and reasonably prompt. Problem areas were quickly diagnosed and corrective action undertaken. Clean-up was thorough. Of course, I won't know how good the repairs are until it rains a few times, but looking at the finished product, can't believe there are any spots left where rain could possibly get in. None of the repaied areas were painted because I have that scheduled separately. Based on what my scheduled painter was going to charge me to fix the problem (and I now see that his approach would not have resolved the issue), I think the price tag was fair. Rain Leak Solutions is a niche business, and few folks are in that business. Randy and partner Sean Garrett are the go-to people for this type of problem. If there are any better people (or even as good) at this work in this area, I think you'll have a hard time finding them. As Randy has pleaded several times, and as at least one client has stated, Angie"s List needs to make "rain leak repairs" a separate category, so it's easier to find on the List. Frustrated at not being able to find a company that clealy specializes in this business, Angie's List members will end up with an inappropriate company. Vendors in other businesses will take a stab at this work, but their efforts are usually in vain, at the expense of the client. So, to better serve the members, Angie's List needs to add this business as a seperate, specific category.
Description of Work: Inspected cedar siding for rain water leak points of entry, especially over 5 windows. Replaced rotted wood; applied filler material to open areas around the windows and along the siding; installed flanges over all windows to deflect any rain water that might possibly get behind the siding; and caulked all seams with professional-grade caulking compound.

I was very impressed with Randy. I might have found him sooner if there was a category specifically for "leaks" on Angie's List. Several roofers have tried ...and failed....to fix this problem! Of course, we are in a drought so it will be awhile before we know if the leak is truly fixed! However, I trust Randy enough to know that if there was still a problem, he would do whatever was necessary to fix it. I highly recommend him. His commitment to getting things right is rare today in the service industry and much appreciated!!
Description of Work: I purchased this Big Deal because we have had a persistent, slow leak in our bathroom off and on for 20 years. Randy came out and did a whole house inspection. He was very thorough, very NICE, very professional, and very knowledgeable. He described what he thought the problem was with the leak and he found many other areas around our home that needed sealing. He and a helper spent a day and a half sealing all of our windows, replacing weather-stripping on our doors, rebuilding a threshold to our front door, and working on our roof to fix the leak issue.
