Response from Hargrave Home Repair Inc
We were surprised to read this report. I cannot find anyone in our office that even remembers talking with this individual. I am wondering if she is confusing our company with another company that she may have talked to. While it is true that we would typically only give a "ballpark" bid based on an engineer's report (untill we have actually visited the house) it is NOT true that we do not give firm bids once we HAVE visited the house. It is our practice to give accurate bids and we do it all the time. There ARE some houses, typically involving INTERIOR pier placement where the thickness of the slab is not yet known, that we might have to give a price range on the work but, even then, the owner would know the maximum dollar amount that they might have to pay for the installation. It IS true that we are currently backed up quite a bit on estimate appointments. Due to the severly dry weather that we are all currently experiencing, there are a lot of foundation problems occuring right now and we regret that people are having to wait for appointments. But we do appreciate their patience. Our staff is working overtime to try to accommodate the many requests for appointments that we are currently receiving. Our company strives to be polite on the phone and provide excellent customer service and we have been doing this for the past 25+ years.
