Mr Rooter Plumbing of Dallas

Description of Work: We called Mr. Rooter's Plumbing company because we had seen their van in the neighborhood and expected quality work. He took advantage of the situation he was given and slammed a $20,000 quote for the diagnosis, water line(s) repair, and a brand new water heater tank that was not needed. We had also told the plumber that the tiles in the kitchen & pantry were noticeably warm and that should have indicated a hot water line leak. Before beginning any type of work, he put forth an aggressive ultimatum demanding a signature or else he would leave. Under the pressure, we signed the papers to get all of the issues fixed. We were under the impression we would have zero leaking issues once he had completed his repair job. So we called the Senior plumber to come out to check out the property and see if the job was done correctly. He gave us the OK to repair the drywall and cover up the holes made by their contracted company (for the record, they did not come back to repair the walls). A couple of days pass and the same foundation leak issue was found around the perimeter of the house (same issue we had before we called Mr. Rooter's initially). We called Mr. Rooter's under the impression that everything was fixed but after another visit, they then informed us it was the hot water line that was leaking. Now, they have deliberately ignored this issue even though on the written contract. The plumber had written that there was a cold and water line leak. If he knew there was a hot water line leak, why did he ONLY replace the cold water line and then replace the water heater tank when the leak was coming from a pipe? On the contract, it says that the work is under warranty for 90 days yet we have failed to receive any sort of compensation for their incompetent work. We also opted for the "Customer Protection Plan" for 3 years but it seems like that is irrelevant. The plumber price gouged us for multiple reasons based on assumptions and lack of integrity. All in all, they are thieves. I would not recommend this company to anyone living the DFW Metroplex.

Description of Work: Mr. Rooter came on a Friday night and fixed a broken pipe. They did a great job and did't charge extra for after hours service.

Description of Work: Replaced two bathroom sink faucets. Mr. Looter was not acceptable. Would not have Mr. Looter do any future work or recommend Mr. Looter.

Description of Work: We needed two bathroom faucets replaced. We already had the new faucets so we just needed the old ones removed and the new ones installed. Our house is only six years old so there was no extra work that needed to be done. Just take out the old and put in the new. When my husband contacted them, Tom told him that he couldn't give him any idea over the phone as to what the charge might be and that there would be a $99.50 service charge to come out which would be waived if they did the work. (Tom later said that he had quoted a $69 service charge but my husband keeps a log book and makes notes as he talks to people.) When the plumber arrived, he quoted a price of $724.74 or $608.62 if we would buy a one year ""preferred plan"" for $99.50. Feeling trapped because of the $99.50 service charge, I foolishly agreed to have the work done. It took about 1-1 1/2 hours from start to finish. After he left, I discovered that he had chipped the granite in front of one of the faucets and of course, failed to tell me about it. When my husband called to complain about the cost, he was told that that was the standard charge if there were no problems encountered. I also called to ask about getting the chip repaired and also asked why the charge was so high and was also told that was the standard charge, no matter if they sent a Master Plumber or a journeyman. When I asked why they couldn't give us any idea of a base charge ahead of time if that is their standard charge (which he, Tom, repeatedly said it was) he said that is just not their policy and they don't have a standard charge! In spite of Mr. Rooters stated policy of being respectful to customers, Tom was very rude and abrasive and they still have not repaired the chipped granite. In addition, when the customer service rep called to talk about the chip, she very snidely asked me if I thought the plumber had chipped the granite with his hands as it wasn't possible that he had any tools on top of the counter! The whole experience was terrible and we would never use them again!! We also discovered later that there was a $39 service charge special with Angie's List and when I asked Tom why we weren't offered that, he said they weren't participating in the offer! Thanks for giving me the chance to vent!!

Description of Work: I had a clogged sewer line. The company had been used by my wife before we were married to clean the sewer line for $1500; It cloogged up on a weekend so we used them again. This time they wanted almost $6000 but we negotiated down based on the previous work--which I believe was still too high. They asked for me to sign up by paying for an "extended warranty" up front in order to receive "preferred pricing". They tore up the front yard and crushed the sidewalk which they refused to repair. Repeated contacts to the company went unanswered. I finally repaired the sidewalk with another contractor for $800. I will never use this company again. Use at you own peril

Description of Work: Estimate given indicated 2 different price options, with an obvious indication of the lower price being the one to be charged. The differences were large. The indication was that I would be getting the lower price. Much to my surprise, I was charged the greater. The larger price was very non competitive and bordered on gouging, as reviewed by other licensed plumbers. Upon voicing my concern to the company, I was treated with the most disrespect that I have ever received from a company. They essentially laughed at me! Additionally, they lied to the BBB when I filed a complaint.( I also reported to the TX AG). In summary and in my opinion, this company only cares about $$....not the customer. Once you pay, that's it, they are on to the next! They have deceptive sales practices and charge far beyond reasonable and customary prices in our market. BEWARE. I will never utilize this company again for anything again at anytime. Customer is a degreed professional!

Description of Work: I HAD A BROKEN PIPE UNDER THE KITCHEN SINK AND A CLOG. HE REPAIRED THE PIPE, CLEARED THE CLOG AND REPLACED A LEAKING GARBAGE DISPOSAL UNIT.
