Do NOT hire Mr. Rooter for any plumbing work. We hired Mr Rooter to winterize our outdoor faucets to prevent them from freezing. They came out in November 02, 2023 to replace the 2 faucets which they charged almost 1800 for plumbing work. We were given a 30 day warranty. In middle of January we a freeze. Those pipes that supposedly had winterized froze. (We took all precautions prior to the freeze. We wrapped the pipes with a termal bag that you buy at homedepot and we also put a faucet cover and tapped that faucet cover to the wall and they still froze) since it was out of warranty we did not call in January, which looking we should have. Then in March I installed a rainbird timer to the faucet to turn on a soaker hose. (This the first time since November we used the faucet.) within a minute water shot out between the wall and faucet. At that I called Mr.Rooter, it took 3 weeks of us calling multiple times for them to send someone out. I told that we had the faucets replaced and they still froze. Showed him the covers we used which still had the tape on. Told him we had not used this faucet since the work was done. (We had no need to use that faucet). He said what probably happened is that the pipe froze. Which is what we paid them for it not to happen and since it's past the 30 day warranty they wanted 800 dollars to fix it. The technician also said the guy who did the work no longer work with them. He made sound like he did not know what he was doing. So to fix an issue they created they want 800 dollars to fix their mistake. DO NOT HIRE MR ROOTER BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!

Do not use these people. They caused THOUSANDS in damage, admitted it and won't fix it!!!!! No idea how they have so many good reviews. And I rarely leave bad reviews. It takes A LOT. And to the company - don't reply to this asking me to contact you. We've tried. So many times since this began. You have our contact info if you want to make this right. Their inexperienced (lazy?) technicians will leave a job unfinished, causing more damage (in our case mud sucked into every plumbing fixture in our home) and then hand you a bill to repair what they broke. I could write you a novel about the first unprofessional tech who was in a hurry to get to a more lucrative job. Their second tech who needs anger management classes and their rude office staff. Here's the kicker - the third tech they sent out was amazing. (Shout out to Clinton who was decent and efficient) He repaired some of the issues at no cost because they knew it was their fault. Left a quote for the ruined fixtures that couldn't be fixed with bleeding the lines. And then the office, after doing that part for $0, told us they won't fix the rest. So only the mud in the repairable fixtures was your fault? The ruined ones are ours? HOW? Their quote, without the new fixtures that have to be bought, is thousands. THOUSANDS. For something they broke. Also their first tech said he tried to finish the job and come in to bleed the lines and we declined but wrote on his invoice that, after his repair failed two times prior, it needed to cure overnight and he couldn't check the water pressure. How are you offering to bleed lines when the water is off? Then he stated we tried to finish the repair before he arrived back at a scheduled appt the next day to fix it. We have in text where he's telling us how to finish the repair and asking if he needs to come back!! There was no scheduled appt. Or any plans for him to return. Because when we called the office to complain the tech called us back mad we called the office and saying he said he would come back. And the second tech screamed at me and said I screamed at him. My husband pointed at the camera on our front porch and said my wife didn't scream at you. He backed down so fast. And got super conciliatory. They say their work is guaranteed but when their techs mess up they won't fix it!!' These people are dishonest. 2/3 techs we got sent out were sub par and, as a female, not people I would ever want in my home while I was alone. Management is laughable. Avoid these people. I cannot say it enough. I'm sure some of that they do is fine. But when a problem occurs that they caused they won't make you whole. Don't be stuck with thousands in repairs like we are!!!!

On a Saturday morning my 88 year old parents had a clogged toilet. Our normal plumber wasn’t opened. I contacted Mr Rooter. Isaac came out to my parents house, I met him there, and he charged $438.29 to remove the toilet and “fix” the clog. He then left an estimate for $23,357.87 to change the plumbing from cast iron to PVC, should we want to do that. Ten days later the clog returned. I asked Mr Rooter to return and they don’t warranty their work. Our plumber came out and found that the “band aid” Isaac did for $439.29 did nothing because the problem was elsewhere in the plumbing. I paid our plumber $1625.00 for an actual repair. At no time did Isaac indicate that what we were paying for was a $439.29 band aid and he tried to up sell the change to PVC as a suggestion, not a need. Mind you, he said holes would need to be made in the house for all of this. I’ve ask for a refund of the $439.29 to which Leah McGaughy replies quite rudely that they would not give my 88 year old parents. The absolute worst scam of a plumbing company ever. DO NOT USE THEM!!

I live in a house built in 1940 and my sewer lines were also original, made of cast iron and clay. I was warned a few years ago that the entire line would need to be replaced, but I decided to ride it's usefulness out to the last second. Which I did, until the weekend before Christmas. My toilets wouldn't flush, so I had Mr. Rooter come out to open my lines (I've had to do this in the past due to root intrusion). Unfortunately too much of my line had collapsed and I had no choice but to replace it. I decided to use Mr. Rooter to replace my line and Moses, my technician, did a wonderful job holding my hand through the entire process and making sure the job was performed quickly, competently and to my satisfaction. We hit a few snags with rain, the holidays and waiting for the City of Dallas, but the entire job was finished by December 29 and everything is working properly. I can even run my washing machine and take a shower at the same time, something I’ve never been able to do. I would definitely recommend Mr. Rooter.

I remember having a positive experience with them. I don’t have any negative feeling towards him. They’re not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. He knew what he was doing and that was very nice to have. I give an “A” for responsiveness because a lot of times I’ve had contractors talk down to me because I’m not the man of the house. We had a microwave man who basically wouldn’t talk to me, he had to talk to my husband; and I’m like. I’m the one who is going to pay you. I would definitely use them again; the magnet is still on the refrigerator.

Customers Beware!!!! PLEASE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE!!!! Do not do business with this company!!!!! On a Friday morning, my wife called Mr. Rooter to fix a clogged drain in our laundry area. (She called our "regular" plumber first, but he was too busy. Because we were hosting out-of-town guests that weekend, he reminded her that a simple de-clogging could be handled by one of the "drain rooter" companies. Boy, did we learn our lesson!!!) Mr. Rooter's employee showed up, quickly looked at the drain, and said that the drain pipe was definitely clogged. He used the drain snake (auger) to unclog and was finished in about 15 minutes--a VERY routine plumbing procedure. As he was packing up his equipment, I arrived and met him in our kitchen where he presented the bill: It was for $550.17!!!!!!!! Needless to say, we could NOT believe it!! We asked him about the outrageous costs, and he gave us a very incoherent and doubtful explanation--said it took "special equipment," the flat-rate pricing is set by his company, etc. So, we asked him to confirm the price with the central office/dispatcher. He became angry and very belligerent at that point, and said there was no use talking with the dispatcher because HE (the apprentice plumber) was the owner and she worked for him!!!! (Obviously, not true.) At that point, we tried to keep him calm, but we felt very threatened by his aggressive gestures/language. This "negotiation" continued for almost 30 minutes. We finally called Arlington PD because we were concerned for our safety. They told us to go ahead and make payment (via phone) and then dispute the charges later which we will definitely do!!!

In August major leak in front yard, neighbor called me to inform that water was running down the street. Mr Rooter came back and repaired leak, warranty call back. Leak from check out valve to irrigation system. Repaired completed August 20. On September 6, 2015, leak re-surfaced. Mr Rooter came out and essentially re-did, ripped apart plumbing from check out valve to irrigation system. Leaked eventually fixed. Noticed late November leaked again in front yard. Called the city, they came out and confirmed leak not on their side. Thought will all the on/off of main water. city valve may have gone bad. Called Mr Rooter on 12/15 to report leak. Called Mr Rooter on 12/21, again on leak. Called Mr Rooter on 12/22, and was informed that they are backing out of fixing leak. Called back on 12/24, requesting to take with someone in management, return call from Mr. Rooter was never received. Quoting verbatim, Mr. Rooter repair receipt from September 9th "Warranty call back on self #455. Repaired twice still under warranty. If problem continues will have supervisor out to see if sprinkler company is needed"

I had the absolute best experience with Mr. Rooter. It was thunder and lightning, and lots of rain, and my back patio area was flooded, so I got out in the midst of the rain, and dug a trench. I figured what the problem was and I asked the Rooter people to come and see what they can do. They showed up, very professional, they gave me an estimate, and as it turns out my crude fix was good. They asked me for anything else, and I asked them about my slow draining system. They said I could do this and this, or they could do it for me. They come out, and their estimates are free. They didn't do anything that I paid for. He just gave me his guidance. He was very professional, he had this mat at the door, and he had his little booties on when he was going in and out of the house. He was very polite. You don't pay overtime even on a weekend, you just pay the straight rate. There was really nothing that they could do, in the rain, and I had taken care of it with a ditch, they just checked a couple other things for me.

Abel and Larry were prompt in their arrival. As a matter of fact they were a little early. A first in my experience! They wore booties over their shoes and put down a mat at the entrance of my door to keep any messes out of the house. We had already called around and had a couple of estimate visits that were hard sell scare tactic visits. Very unpleasant and unprofessional. Immediately, the other companies were quoting camera search of the lines, collapsed pipes and tree roots in the pipes. WE ONLY NEEDED A DRAIN CLEAN OUT!!! Abel and Larry of Mr. Rooter were a pleasant change of pace from the others! They explained to us that they could do a line clean out from outside the house. That they didn't need to go in through the toilets. They gave us a quote for what they believed it would take to correct the problem. We agreed to the quote and they began their work immediately. After they did the drain clean out, they did a camera inspection of the line (letting us watch it all on the viewing screen) for free. They explained everything they were doing as they went along. It took them less than an hour from their arrival until they were completely packed up and gone. They did it all without tearing up my bushes and flowers in the front yard and without getting anything dirty. They were professional and pleasant to work with. I'd definitely use them again and would ask for these two guys by name.

We had a leak in a valve and hose at our toilet. We called Mr Rooter and asked them to do the work first thing the next morning. They indicated on this call that there would be a $70 call out fee if the work was not done during the call. (That should have been the BIG RED LIGHT) The plumber arrived promptly in a big cargo van with fancy painted sides (second BIG RED LIGHT). He was very polite and took a quick look at the work to be done, and then drew up an invoice for $248.01, as well as what looked like a $99 membership or warranty fee. I asked what the cost of the materials for the repair would be, and he replied that it was less than $20. When I asked why their labor would be more than $225 for the job, he responded by saying this is what plumbing cost, and they were a large company with overheads etc etc. I asked how long the job would take at that rate and he said 60 to 90 minutes. I refused the invoice and said I would rather pay the call out fee. He left to what I assumed was the call out invoice, but returned offering a reduced price of $193.08. I deemed this better value for 60 to 90 mins work, so accepted the new invoice. He started the work and was finished less than 15 mins later. I asked why it took only 15 mins and not at least 60 mins, and he responded that he was a skilled worker. I paid him and told him that I would be writing a review that shows others what to expect from Mr Rooter. If $195 for 15 mins work and for parts costing less than $20 is the norm for large plumbing companies, then I for one ( and I recommend you too) will be searching out the one man operator who charges a fair dollar for the work required.

It was all good. They came and did what they were supposed to do. This particular guy that came out seemed to be okay. Wanted them to simply install a garbage disposal. Tech came in and surprised me with an estimate to re plumb the entire works under the sink. He didn't have a convincing argument why it was needed so I sent him on his way. Another company, AAA Auger, came in and agreed that the replumb was unnecessary and installed the disposal for half the price. Very obviously I won't be using Mr. Rooter again.

They broke my sidewalk and would not even call me back to talk about it. The only reason we used them was because my wife had used them before. We thought that since they had been there before they would be familiar with the situation and do a good job. We're sorry we used them. The plumbing works, but all the stuff we had to go through with them was not worth it. They didn't level out my yard and they did not clean up after themselves. You have to pay in advance to be a member in order to get their "preferred pricing".

They came out the night I called them. The toilet wasn't draining until about 8 o'clock in the evening. They showed up at about 12:30 or so since the plumber was on a couple of other calls. He was very professional. He ran a scope and showed us the line. Then he invaded the line between the house and the city line. Then he ran a machine to cut all the roots out. He told us what to do to keep that from happening again. He also gave an estimate on a total repair for the pipe replacement. I called them at about 8 o'clock in the evening and they got a guy out here four and a half hours later. It was also a weekend night and there wasn't much I could do about that. The price was a little more, but it was okay since the guy had to come out in the middle of the night to solve the problem. I spent about $370 for their service. I would have liked the price to have been a little less since I didn't have a lot of problems. They were straightforward and I decided to use them to do a final affair within 30 or 60 days to do a complete repair. The part of that price would have been within the overall cost. They were very fair. I didn't feel that I was getting gouged. In that regards, they were very professional. They did call once to say that the plumber was coming, but was delayed due to another job. I felt pretty safe with Mr. Rooter since it was night. It wasn't a problem that I could afford to be too picky about. I would use Mr. Rooter again. I have another problem that I have to get it fixed now.

I recently had an unpleasant and distressing experience with Mr Rooter plumbing company. I called them after discovering water on the floor of my garage. I had a previous episode that resulted from a blocked drain line and thought this might be a similar problem. When the technician arrived he looked in the closet where my water heater is installed and discovered water on the floor around the heater. I lamented that I would have to find someone to replace the water heater and the technician replied that Mr Rooter could do the job. He said he would quickly prepare a quote. After going through his book he came up with a price of $1971.71. I commented that the price seemed awfully high. He responded that that was straight out of his book. I thought for a bit and finally said that I would accept his price as I was ignorant of current prices and I didn’t like to try to beat someone down on their price and would trust him to not “rape” me on this job. The job was completed in a few hours and I paid for the work with two checks. The next day when I scrutinized the bill, a number of the charges seemed really excessive, so I went on the internet and to local Lowes and Home Depot to check prices. The results and comparisons are in the following table. The prices I obtained are over-the-counter retail prices so the resulting percentage mark-up is conservative due to Mr. Rooter being able to obtain the same items at wholesale discount. Item Mr Rooter Price Retail Price Percent Markup Source 50 Gallon Water heater $884.11 $418.57 211.22% Plumbers Stock 2 pc 18" waterflex $110.04 $11.60 948.62% Lowes ball valve $120.12 $9.43 1273.81% Lowes 24" drain pan $141.29 $12.91 1094.42% Lowes Plywood $89.92 $6.94 1295.68% Home Depot Tand P valve $141.73 $10.98 1290.80% Lowes Permit and handling $100.00 $100.00 00.00% Labor $315.00 $235.00 134.04% Lowes 1 yr plan $69.50 $69.50 00.00% Total $1,971.71 $874.93 225.36% I then called Mr Rooter at the Fort Worth number and described what I felt were the grievous overcharges. The receptionist noted my comments and I continued with a description of the steps I intended to take if there was no satisfactory resolution. She hung up on me before I completed my description. I called again a few days later and the receptionist said she would have someone call me. A couple of days later I received a call from the technician who had done the work. When I went through the list of items I felt were grossly overpriced, he contended that they were a fair markup. He commented that the price of the water heater included the installation cost, which was why it was more than double the retail cost. No explanation of why the extra $315.00 labor charge. I then asked to speak with someone higher up in his organization and he put me on hold while he went to get his office manager. After twenty minutes of listening to ether noise, I hung up. I called again the next day and told the receptionist that I would like to speak with the owner. She said she would pass the request to him. After a couple more days I called again and said I had not received a call. The receptionist said that the owner had no intention of calling me to discuss anything. Comments on the quality of the work. The floor the water heater was resting on was wet and soft due to the water leak. The technician obtained a piece of thin OSB wafer board to place on the floor rather than plywood. This wafer board doesn’t have sufficient structural integrity to support the water heater and the result is a significant list to the water heater. I was charged $89.92 for the wafer board that cost $6.94 cents. A 4X8 sheet of ¾ Oak veneer plywood cost about $44.00 at the same store. They could have used some ¾ CDX plywood but went for cheap while charging dear. The drain valves on the water heater and overflow pan are oriented downward such that it is impossible to thread a hose onto them so I’m not sure what use they’re going to be in the future. The plumbing inspector red tagged two items, the flex tubing was kinked and the overflow pan was not piped to the exterior of the house. When Mr. Rooter’s installers returned they replaced the flex tubing and it looked much nicer with no sharp bends. To address the overflow pan they removed the gate valve from the pan and ran 1” PVC pipe through the outside wall of the garage. When they were done I was asked to sign a work order showing that the job to run the PVC pipe was billed at $499.95. All that for about 8’ of 1” PVC pipe, 4 90 degree elbows, and 30 minutes labor. When the installer told me that, I looked him right in the eye and said “do I have “stupid” written on my forehead?” He mumbled something and just had me sign the document. Now I wasn’t asked to pay this but they said that this was what the job would have cost if it had been done as part of the initial installation. That would have brought the total cost to about $2500.00. These people are just insane. Further disclaimers. While no one held a gun to my head to agree to this work, I feel that Mr Rooter takes advantage of people who are ignorant of prices and are in a stressful situation. I certainly will not have any further work done by them nor will I recommend them to anyone

Everything went very well. The technician was very neat and clean, and covered his shoes with booties before he came in. He was careful not to make a mess, and cleaned up after himself. I did not compare prices, but they seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: He cleaned out a clog in my sink drain.

I really liked this company because initially they gave me an estimate and they stuck with it. I really appreciated that. They always kept their tools in place and didn t make a mess at all. Their trucks were very neat and clean and the workers were very polite and courteous. They were also very efficient; it only took them one day to fix this.
Description of Work: There was a water leak in my garage on the other side of the kitchen wall and the floor was all wet. They took a jackhammer and broke the floor and fixed the leak.

They showed up on time and they were very friendly, while they were here. They did what they came to do in the amount of time that they said it would take. The price was also great.
Description of Work: We had them unclog our toilet.

I called about 8 AM. They arrived shortly after 9 AM. Use them and use the $30 coupon. Keep those coupons coming.
Description of Work: My water heater was not heating. They replaced an element after making a quick and accurate assessment.

They did the work and were polite but I think we were over charged and did it because a woman was asking for the work to be done.
Description of Work: We had a clogged toilet and they said that it was due to the toilet pipe. It was bent slightly to go around a beam. They said it would be 600 dollars just to clear the drain and no guarantee that it wouldn't come back. Recommended we replace pipe with new PVC pipe and that would be 1400.00.
