These guys were prompt, efficient and businesslike. They did a great job in a remarkably short time. Another contractor gave us an estimate for the work that was literally five times as much and would have called for completely replacing the doors at great expense. Nu-Tec did not try to gouge us for extra money or unnecessary work, and the work they did was great. Will certainly call them again if we need home repairs done.

The whole job went very well, they arrived on time, and went straight to work. They were careful and precise preparing the area around the front door as there had been no framework on there for several years. We had the framework, and it was put into place very carefully, making sure it all was level and flush to the wall. They also took great pains to be sure the front door was not affected , opening and closing. After this they painted the wood, and did an excellent job of painting,I could not be more pleased. I would recommend them to anyone, and hope to use them in the near future.

Like most, I found Nu-Tec through Angie's list, and before writing this review I read every other review about them on this site to see what others had written. I saw the same words and phrases repeated over and over: professional, friendly and courteous, punctual, trustworthy, quality workmanship, good communication, etc. All of that is true. Wondering if I could add anything new to the conversation, I thought back over the two weeks Ed, Keith and the boys were at my home, and I believe the following is worth sharing. We live in a modest home on the east side. My husband and I planned and saved for more than five years to overhaul our backyard and make it more accommodating for a couple whose children are grown and out of the nest. When we settled on a plan to build a new patio cover and pergola, I contacted Ed and conveyed the vision to him. From the start, he shared our enthusiasm for the changes we dreamed about, and he recommended tying everything into the existing rafters in the attic to make the cover appear more like a natural extension of the house. Another contractor who gave me an estimate simply wanted to build a pergola attached to our existing patio cover, something I would never consider. Why bother putting lipstick on a pig? While Ed and the guys were working on our project, I tried to stay in the house and out of their way. But, from time to time I couldn't resist sneaking a stealthy glance out the window to see how things were progressing. It was toward the end of the project that I took one such peek outside, and there I saw it: Ed was standing several feet from the edge of the patio, looking up at the pergola with the biggest grin on his face. I walked out into the yard, and his first words to me were, "Wow! I love it!" This was when it dawned on me that he must truly love what he does for a living. I thought about other people I'd hired over the years to do various jobs, and not once had I seen any of them show such delight in seeing someone else's dream come together. Having worked in Human Resources for many years, I know there is no substitute for loving what you do every day. It can't be faked. Sooner or later, people see what's real. If you've read any of the other reviews about Nu-Tec, you know about the craftsmanship they bring to their work. So it goes without saying that our new patio cover and pergola are absolutely beautiful. Gazing at a bright blue sky through redwood-stained rafters is something one would expect to experience in a mountain setting, not in the desert. But, this is our reality now, and we are truly grateful to Ed, Keith, Mauro, Ulysses and the other guys for making it happen. On a side note, whenever I show our new pergola to family and friends, they are all very jealous. This fact alone makes the money we spent on it worth every penny. : )
Description of Work: Built a new patio cover and pergola, including: demolition of the old patio cover; cleaned up all trash and hauled away; poured more secure concrete footings for the beams; built a new cover with tongue and groove ceiling; built the pergola following the circular lines of the patio; installed steel rafter straps and joist hangers (painted black); installed cross supports; installed trim moldings where needed; stained and sealed the entire structure; installed new rolled rubber roof over the covered patio; installed two ceiling fans, two stereo speakers, one porch light and three yard lights.

We really needed help to get our elderly Mom back safe in her home after a hospitalization from a fall and broken femur. "The Boys" made room in their schedule and all pitched in to do everything from new floors to adjusting a patio door that wouldn't open. As we worked on the house we found a lot of "hey, while you're here" projects, which they made fit into their schedule. Thanks again you guys, she's very pleased and grateful for her clean, and now safe house.

Ed and his team were great. Punctual for all of our appointments, timely in getting the work estimates back to me. Everything was written up, from the type of work to the tarps they would lay out on the floor. The work we needed done required someone who could be precise and patient and they did great. The carpentry they wrapped around the beam looks really good. They did an excellent job with the build and staining. They also did an excellent job replacing the door and painting it. It was such a good experience to work with a contractor who wrote everything down, showed up on time, did what they said they would do, did a really good job, and cleaned up afterwards. We will definitely be working with them again.

My husband & I took great care in picking out our contractor for our interior painting as well as some home repairs. We chose Nu-Tec because Angie's list and the customer reviews and they were rated amongst the highest here in El Paso. We wanted to hear personally from the other people who chose Nu-Tec because I feel that helps and is the best form of advertisement.. Workers were here on time each day...10 - 15 minutes ahead of time waiting in their vehicles. Impressed. We love out new ceilings in our living room and hallway. Workers took great care in making sure everything was covered completely while applying new ceiling texture. Workers cleaned up after themselves each and every day. We are happy with the paint job and home repairs done. We needed to have our heater vent pipes put back up on our roof after one of our winds storms knocked them both off. They did put them back up and I noticed they were criss-crossing wires to steady them up and secure them from further wind storms. I didn't like the wires and they removed them. We were assured that the new screws would hold them in place. My husband and I would see things here and there after the workers left and I did feel anxiety of mentioning anything to the workers the next day...but we did mention it to them as they came in each morning....which they promptly remedied. Ed did mention to me after this that he himself would put together a punch list on their last day and make sure that everything was taken care of and that he would be pickier than me on his list. Our only concern to mention would be for Ed to go over his punch list ( check list of things to be finished before completion of projects ) with the home owners after supposedly finishing and fixing everything on that list. I know we were picky at times but we worked long and hard and saved every penny for this work so we could pay cash for it. Ed, it would have been nice to shake you hand, thank you for your services and say "Nice working with you!"
Description of Work: Scraped off old damaged ceilings in living room and hall. Painted most interior of house, including closets. Replaced kitchen sink and bathroom sinks. Re-tiled bath/shower walls. Replaced faucets in kitchen & bathroom. Re-screwed our heater vents on the roof because they had been blown off during our last wind storm.

Kudos to Ed, Keith, and all of their crew for the outstanding job they did!! We can't say enough about their professionalism and the quality of their work! Our new kitchen and dining room are absolutely beautiful, completely transformed from the old rooms! And, amazingly, they finished the work in 2 weeks, arriving each day at 8:00 a.m. sharp and working until 4:00 p.m. or after. At the end of each day, the work crew swept and vacuumed and left everything clean and neat, a pleasant change from what we have experienced with other construction crews. Ed and Keith are not only knowledgable about construction, but they are perfectionists about their work -- they expect their work crew to attend to detail and do everything correctly. If a mistake is made, they make sure to correct it and get it right. As the primary spokesperson for their company, Ed is the one who submitted the work estimate and provided guidance on the project, but both he and Keith were on the job site regularly, doing much of the work along with their crew. They made suggestions about the project, but they also listened to our ideas and made adjustments as needed. They were both accessible, friendly, and easy to talk to. And likewise, the work crew was friendly and pleasant to work with. We felt like we had made new friends by the time the project was finished! We are extremely happy with the work done my NuTec R&C. We will most certainly call them for our next remodel project, and we will heartily endorse them and recommend them to anyone considering remodeling work in their homes.
Description of Work: NuTec completely remodeled the kitchen and dining room, including removing an upper wall between them. The scope of work included demolition of the kitchen; installing new electrical wiring for the kitchen and dining room lights; installing new duct work for AC/heating in the kitchen, dining room, and laundry room; building a half-wall between the kitchen and dining room; installing new dry wall for kitchen walls; finishing and texturing kitchen and dining room walls; installing wainscoting in the dining room; installing crown molding, baseboards, and door frames in the kitchen, dining room, and kitchen hall; installing a new door to the laundry room; installing all new kitchen appliances and sink; painting all walls and woodwork in the kitchen, dining room, and kitchen hall; painting the kitchen and dining room shutters.

Everything went excellent. The workers arrived at the same time every day and left at the same time each day after working a full 8 hours, including sweeping things clean at the end of each day. Both workers were very pleasant for us to talk with and to deal with. We are very pleased that the shower stall was built so professionally and exactly as we specified. We need a couple more projects worked on and will be calling this company before cold weather sets in. We had a slight waiting period before the shower stall work could begin by them, but everything worked out fine for our schedule as well as theirs. We are very pleased with this contractor and even though there may be a slight wait, we definitely will hire this contractor again.
Description of Work: Replaced very old shower stall by tearing out old materials and removing them from the property right away. Nothing was left for us to have to take care of inside or outside the house.

All work completed in 8 consecutive work days, workers were at our house every day (not Sat/Sun). All finish was high quality and to our satisfaction. Ed, Keith, and crew were pleasant, efficient, and professional. A complete cleanup was done at the end of each work day, with no equipment left in the kitchen. They asked for some space in the garage for equipment and supplies storage. Plastic was draped over cabinets and appliances during texture and paint process. Highly recommend this firm.
Description of Work: Upgrades in kitchen -- Installed 5 new canister lights in ceiling, installed 3 new pendant lights, entire kitchen ceiling received new float, new texture, new paint (walls painted also), other misc. electrical work in kitchen (new switched, etc), installed new mosaic tile backsplash w/ grout, coordinated with Rodriguez Plastics for installation of new quartz countertops, hooked up new sink to drain, installed new faucet, installed new disposal. Upstairs balcony -- cleaned off rotted carpet, repaired leak damage along edge of balcony, installed new outdoor carpet

This is the 3rd time we have used NU-TEC in 2 years. They came, surveyed the job and specs, gave terrific advice on what might be changed to enhance the look of the project ,and then performed up to their usual superior standards. They came on the appointed date, did the work very professionally, cleaned up and left on the appointed date. No change orders or cost overruns. I asked them to return a few times to take care of unexpected problems secondary to a little settling in the kitchen ceiling and this was handled swiftly and without a return of the problems. I am starting a 4th project soon and would have no one else. Terrific guys with tons of experience and know how---and they are gentlemen to the last and honest.

Have to remodel my entire home and seeing as he is a contractor with a good rating, i tried to get a hold of Ed. Never heard back from him. Will be looking elsewhere for more professional individuals. If u wanna wait an entire week for an appointment that may or may not happen, contact Ed at Nu-Tec.
Description of Work: Called Ed from Nu-Tec for an estimate over a week ago. Stated he would be able to come out sometime this week at the end of the week but would call to set up a specific time and date. Never received a call from him or anyone at Nu-Tec. Professionalism is lacking with this company. When you call the main "company" phone line... You would never know this was a reputable company by the way the answer the phone. But disappointed he never bothered to call.

I gave this person an estimate over a year ago and never heard a thing back from her. I spent hours between her home and my office for this estimate. I give you an F for not remembering which contractors you have called and which you have not called in the past. Once again an F and we did not even open a tool box at your home! Shame on Angie's List for not at least contacting a service provider first before posting a poor letter grade. Angie's List has told me that they are fair to their customers and their customers have a right to whatever they want to say. Without the service providers like Nutec and many others, there would be no Angie's List. As for this customer, you have my estimate!

The work crew started each day at 8:00 and were always prompt and ready to work. All of the workers took their job seriously and worked well together. The demolition of the three rooms was well planned and executed and the attempt in keeping the dust to a minimum was appreciated. The workers made every attempt to cover and protect our living area as much as possible. They also cleaned up the work area before they went home. The work began with the remodel of the kitchen and small master bathroom simultaniously. There was an urgency to complete the small master bathroom so that they could begin with the hall bathroom because our comfort was always taken into consideration. Communication between Mr. Ed Clous, the general contractor, always felt open and easy. I asked for extra jobs that were not on the contract and Mr. Clous was always ready to listen to what we had to say and was always helpful and accommodating in acheiving what we wanted . There was even some work that Mr. Clous did not charge us. The quality and execution of their work was excellent. I love my new kitchen and both of my bathrooms. I practically have a new house. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and look forward on calling Nu-Tec, Mr. Ed Clous, his partner Keith, and his workers, Mauro, Junior, and Ulysses for our next project. Thank you Guys!

This is our third time using Nu-tec as always it went great . Remodeling can be painful , but these guys try very hard not to make it so The kitchen turned out just as I imagine. They finished the job in 4 weeks. I have recomened them several times and have not had anyone tell me they were unhappy with thier services.
Everything went well. Ed and Keith and his team were always here daily at 8:00 and worked a full day until the re-model was done. They worked with us when I was unsure about what I wanted and were able to make good suggestions about the project. They were very approachable when I had questions or concerns . When I first decided to go with Nu-Tec, they told me they couldn't start right away and gave me an approximate date 3 months away when they would start and then sent me supply lists and lots of options of where to buy at local businesses. This was very helpful to me to have a head start on all of this. Once the work started, they were here every day until it was done 3-4 weeks later. The work they did was very high quality. Lots of attention to detail. Everything looks really good and I am enjoying the new look very much. I would definitely use this company again (and again!!). I thought their pricing was very fair and if new things came up, Ed and Keith offered me different price options and alternatives. The guys they work with are very personable and easy to be around. They also cleaned up each day before they left. Highly recommended!!
Description of Work: Nu-Tec took off all the old paint, tile and flooring and wallpaper in 4 rooms-kitchen, breakfast room, utility room and small room leading to the back of the house. They re-tiled the floors and put in tile deco travertine backsplash on the walls in the kitchen. They also removed old countertops and I got new granite countertops. They put in new brighter lighting in the kitchen as well as a solar tube. Installed a new stove/microwave. Also re-finished my beautiful hickory cabinets and applied new hardware. They put up a new decorative door between kitchen and living room. They made me a beautiful utility room counter with plenty of built-in storage space. This was also covered in new countertop. My kitchen cabinets were converted so that they had interior rollout drawers in 3-4 of them. I got new sinks and faucets in utility room and kitchen. They did extensive plumbing changes as well. Also added new electrical outlets;new ceiling fan;garbage disposal;new baseboards;new door(s) leading to garage and backyard. Everything was painted in all rooms.

I scheduled an appointment with Ed for an estimate. He was a no show on the first appointment, without a phone call. I gave him another chance and he was prompt on the second try. He was polite and professional. He took a lot of notes. He informed me that due to his schedule, they could not start for 6 weeks. He said he would email me an estimate, which he did 8 days later. He added some additional work to the estimate that I did not require, and left out some other needed work. When I emailed him my questions and reiterated my needs, 6 days later, he informed me that since I had delayed in signing the contract I would now have to wait SIX MONTHS for them to start. It seemed he believed that since I would have to wait so long, my concerns were not worth addressing. He asked if I still wanted my questions answered, I responded YES but still have not heard from him 16 days later. As the "Soup Nazi" would say "No soup for you". When all is said I think perhaps my $10,000 project was too small for him.

Well, that was a pungent review. If I could say one good thing about Angie's List allowing letter grades for "No work performed", It would be the fact that these poor reviews are generally given by people that I would not have wanted to work for in the first place. Your dates were wrong, your numbers were off, I presented your estimate just as you asked as per my notes on the estimate day taken directly from you, and I chose to not break apart my bid in eight different scenarios as you e-mailed to me. I do not suppose that anyone is really interested but I will give you the whole story if you need to hear it. Once again I am defending our reputation to the World Wide Web from people who should really think before they write . So here it goes. We are always busy as we have been for 28 years. It generally takes me four to five days to have an estimate ready for a client. If we are on a particularly intense job it may take seven or eight days to get back with you. My estimates come solely from the notes that you have me take on the estimate day, and when I am with you, you have my most sincere attention. I have only had four clients in the last 28 years want to sign a contract and have one ready if you so desire. I give four to five estimates per week and work along side my employees daily and type estimates in the evening. We do not have an office staff to type estimates the day that they are given. I take pride in every day complete job supervision. Our work schedule generally runs 6 to 8 weeks away but has been unusually longer in the last several months. We do not take money down and will provide at least a weeks worth of labor and materials before we ask for a partial draw. You are our lively hood and we work for you! As for the person that gave this review, you may have felt slighted but that was not my intention. I hope that you have better luck in choosing your next contractor.

I had total confidence in Ed and his decisions. He was very helpful in designing the kitchen to make it more functional. He recommended the cabinet maker and the counter top source. We used both and are pleased with the results. There were a few details that were not perfect. If you are into perfect you might want to discuss the surface texture of the ceiling, the bottom edging of new doors, and the balancing of new ceiling fans. These areas we not perfect but not something I wanted to have redone. The job was done on time. We trusted the workers and would not hesitate to use them again.

Thanks for your review. I was not aware of any problems with the ceiling texture, door bottom edges, or unbalanced ceiling fan. No one ever mentioned these items to me or to any other one of our team. Please remember that this is all about your Kitchen and home and we most certainly have no problems taking care of any items that were not to your satisfaction but we cannot help if it is not brought to our attention.

We are very happy. We lookd high and low and got recommendations from friends but found Ed Clouse and Nu-Tec on Angie's list. After a number of calls, we were finally able to get on Nu-Tec's list of projects to be done and boy, are we pleased. Our kitchen remodel involved new flooring, walls and the ceiling; new plumbing and electrical and new insulation. We originally solicited four bids and got three proposals. Nu-tec was not the cheapest in all areas, but at the end we saved money by going with them. Ed Clouse was very punctual in returning our calls to his cell phone and in submitting a very detailed bid. We selected Nu-Tec because they listened to us and then made recommendations that fit our input. We considered two others; the first did not match our style and the second wanted 40% down. Nu-Tec did not ask for a down and estimated the work to be done in two weeks. The other contractors estimated six to 12 weeks! There is no way we could be without a kitchen for two or three months! Obviouusly we selected Nu-Tec. Before we started we asked them to also work on our den and our laundry room. Ed gave us an estimate that we thought was fair and also only extended the time for construction by one week for a total of three weeks. Everyone told us that the actual construction time would double or triple. Not with Nu-Tec. They started on a Thursday and finished on a Wednesday afternoon exactly three weeks to the day. And this was with us adding work on the ceiling in our sunroom and extending the tile to be laid to the hallways in our house and a number of other "well since you're here" jobs. Nu-Tec's estimate not only included all work plus what everything would cost and also recommendations on the top three places where we could buy tile, cabinets, granite, select fixtures and other items. And they also helped us choose the right style of fixtures including the lights over our new 82" island (which my wife had always wanted). So it's true; hairly legged guys not only know construction but also a little bit about interior decoration and design (but don't tell Ed I said that! ha!) We now have a new and larger dream kitchen, a neat dining area, a modern and updated laundry room and new tile in our den. W we are extremely pleased. Ed's workers were fast and efficient, prompt, polite, extremely helpful and knew what they were doing. They cleaned up every day and left us with enough space to "live in" and to eat without too much discomfort on our part. Would I hire Ed Clouse and his gang again? Absolutely! In fact we hope to use Nu-Tec to remodel our sunroom later this year.

I had a very good interaction with them. It was a very good experience. They were quite professional. They showed up when they were supposed to. They worked straight through the job, to the end. It took them close to three weeks to finish it. I was impressed with them. I highly recommend them.
